Actually, the chances of getting viruses nowadays are pretty slim. If you have an up to date computer with an up to date antivirus and anti-spyware, then you're good. There's even more protection if you're behind a router. Today almost every virus that someone gets is by user-error, and even more on Vista and Windows 7 where you get not one bot two warnings when you or someone is installing a program. Actually, no. If you don't got to dodgy websites, there are no chances of getting a virus other than bad advertisements, which are rare to find on the usual websites we all go. Even then, you're going to have the UAC pop-up if something is trying to install. Windows XP is much less secure than Vista and 7 on the viruses side.

Then trying another browser isn't necessary if those browser do the same thing on your brother's computer. That eliminates the possibility of a bug in Safari.

Lol I'm still on the old Firefox 3, but they already released the 3.6? I hope it's not too unstable, reason I didn't upgrade to 3.5. I also think it's better sending this information to Mozilla rather than Jagex since 3.6 just got out.

Nowadays anything is better than AVG, I don't know what the developpers have made with AVG to make it so bad. My personnal thought is that Avast isn't one of the best either as it seems to have a high amount of false positives, but whatever suits you :).

Who cares what company it comes from, when the product is good, I stick with it. And I never said MSE was THE best, but it is one of the top ones.

I do know that, that's why I actually try the antiviruses before suggesting one. I have 2 computers and they have different antiviruses. Problem is, here, that Avast has a [cabbage]load of false positives, too many for my liking and most people will think they really are viruses, and as for AVG, I've actually changed it to MSE or Avira on a few computers that had AVG and they both found over 100 viruses that AVG didn't pick up. Oh and your last link is to a website that has a poor reputation according to WoT.

Dark, AVG is a bad antivirus, and I've only seen the bad about Avast! in the past year, so instead of recommending those 2, you should recommend something like MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) and Avira Antivir. As for the problem at hand here, when I get everything sorted with my desktop, I will have a look on the internet and might copy and paste the information here.

OS means operating system, like Windows or Ubuntu. Windows 7 does it I think, well, it did for me.

What about Windows 7's XP mode?

Yeah, I've had a bit of trouble with them, but they seem to have a little bit more qualtity since their new design. Maybe you got a bad batch? The only brand I never had trouble with was Verbatim, but I still went with Memorex because of the quality my laptop's burner is.

Would be nice to know what graphics card you have, but for now I'm going for the option of not enough RAM.

What brand of DVD-DL are you using? From my experience, there are brands that work flawlessly and others that almost every DVD is unusable.
