  1. Just go back to /b/. And now we have to protect it for the 8 year olds like you who have nothing better to do than flame. That was an honest suggestion. If you want content like what was on those threads, go to somewhere that allows it. Sure, a lot of users here are 16+, but there are also definitely quite a few who are under 12. If you want mature content, go to a mature forum. Back on topic: It was probably time to get those restrictions implemented. Those rules had definitely been bent too far... ...By posts such as that X-rated post you made near the end of the first mature thread, Abyssalwhip. :-#
  2. When the Red Army was standing 100 yards away from his bunker, I suppose Hitler was also irrational to kill himself. He clearly would not have been a productive member of society. The fact he came close to conquering the whole of Europe is neither here nor there. Suicide is rarely completely rational, but it can be. If you have a psychological report which states otherwise, I'll shut up. Hitler was a very productive (Not really in a positive way) member of society. He killed himself because he did not want to face death after a long trial. I don't even see how that relates to this topic. Again, I REFUSE to be sympethetic on the issue of a self-inflicted death. You haven't gone through what I have, and I'm not even going to try to explain it to you because there is no real way to explain it. But, if someone very close to you is pushed to the point of suicide, maybe (and hopefully) you'll understand. And it may help to read this. (Several other pages on that site are interesting as well..)
  3. There's nothing in there that says he was stupid. It's highly doubtful that this was the only cause.. A very close friend of mine (and a very smart one, as well) got really close to committing suicide several times, and it's really likely that this guy was suffering from similar things to what my friend was. The article just doesn't say so. Anyone can make bad decisions due to certain things, at any age. Everyone does stupid things. That doesn't mean everyone's stupid. :wall: More than likely (like already said) this was simply the thing that pushed a really bad situation over the edge. And, judging by how bad that situation must have been, this guy was definitely deserving of sympathy.
  4. They (the writers of the adware) did that to make you buy their product, which actually does nothing except tell you that it's removed the adware. It's a scam that lots of people would fall for if they didn't have any knowledge about this kind of thing. Spybot and Ad-Aware are the two programs I'd recommend most for this, and also BitDefender Free Edition, which is a really good but lesser-known antivirus.
  5. I had exactly the same problem, and this fixed it: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202537 If you need more help, send me a PM and i'll see what I can do. ;) (And good job on using Ubuntu. =D> )
  6. The way I see it, being homosexual is just the difference between being inherently attracted to people of your gender instead of people of the opposite gender. There's actually a good amount of medical data that shows that homosexuality is triggered by certain physical characteristics of the brain, so it seems that it's not even a choice (if that data is correct): You're either born homosexual or not. And there's not much you can do about it. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. My uncle is married to another man, and there's no way you'd notice it by talking to him. He's just a normal person except for his sexual orientation, and I don't see any reason why it's wrong to be attracted to people of your gender instead of the opposite one. :| @BlueLancer: =D>
  7. That link worked like a charm, thanks. :)
  8. Ok, I've been trying to switch from Windows to Ubuntu as much as I can, and this is the biggest thing left that's keeping me on Windows: I'm unable to play RuneScape normally on Ubuntu x64. So far, I've been able to use the default Java plugin and unsigned applet to play, but this doesn't work for the new HD mode. There appears to be no Sun Java plugin for Ubuntu x64 capable of playing RuneScape. Does anyone know how to get this working, short of downgrading to 32-bit Ubuntu?
  9. What the bloody kittens are you talking about, cant use the key to reinstall a version of windows? You saying I can't use the XP install disc and the product key and have a working version of windows? That's where I declare you wrong. And KillDisk isn't really worth it (I mean, it's 50 bucks...come on...srsly?) Well, I'm pretty sure that you can use an OEM key to install windows.. Especially since the copy of Windows I'm using right now is an OEM copy that I installed myself.. And DBAN does more than a simple format. It actually does (pretty much) exactly the same thing as KillDisk.. My first idea would be to use a recovery partition or install disc (if you have one), though. That's the easiest and will make the laptop like it was when you bought it. If you have recovery discs instead of a partition, I'd go over your drive with DBAN first, unless you don't care about whether someone can recover what's on the drive.
  10. You know, Firefox 3 is actually quite a bit faster than Safari now.. ;)
  11. RAM, CPU and hard drive, more likely. If the computer's more than 4-5 years old I'd actually recommend upgrading to a new computer, personally. (Unless you can't afford it..:|)
  12. http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ will help with deleting the files.
  13. And it will probably lag just as bad.. It sounds like his system just isn't good enough to run it smoothly. :|
  14. There's this one guy who's in my school band who's completely addicted to computer games, especially flash games. And not addicted as in "he really likes playing them", addicted as in "it is impossible for him to stop playing or watching them". When the teacher's talking at the start of class, he has his laptop out, and is always playing some new flash game, and doesn't hear anything the teacher says. He also ends up always being the last person to get his instrument out (At least 5-10 minutes after everyone else).. :ohnoes: Also, I was playing a game on my iPod today, and looked up and found him staring over my shoulder, not even blinking. :? He's probably the only person in the class to fail band, especially since most of your grade is determined by whether or not you show up to concerts.. I'm assuming he has some sort of family problem, but I honestly don't know. :|
  15. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue. (Not enough capabilities.) What are your system specs?
  16. My OCZ 700W power supply is a little loud (not unbearably) but really well-built and was a pretty good buy for the price.
  17. Sony and HP are both pretty good in my opinion. I'd recommend /WF25a/21675-38187-38191-38191-38191-81683601.html]this HP, personally.
  18. They're in the process of updating the site; it changed in the last 5 minutes..
  19. Does it do the same thing in another browser?
  20. I was wondering how well my new PC would be able to handle it.. I should have expected something like this though.. [hide=My Computer]Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz, probably 3GHz when I get around to overclocking it) 4GB DDR2-800 GeForce 8800 GT 1GB[/hide] Needless to say, I'm no longer worried at all.. (Wow. Even my the computer I upgraded from to get to my old computer to get to this one can run it with its upgraded graphics card.. :| )
  21. I actually didn't even need to create the folder, I just did it for the demonstration. What browser are you using? If you're using Internet Explorer, try Firefox (Actually do it tomorrow, because that's when they're releasing Firefox 3...)
  22. What browser are you using? You could try clearing your cookies, or you might have set your browser to not allow cookies. Clearing the cache and cookies will probably fix this if your cookie settings are correct.
  23. It looks like AOL has a rendering issue. Try using another browser and see if the problem persists.
  24. Windows + E. Go to your C:\ directory, and create a folder called "rscache" without the quotes. [hide=Pictures] [/hide]
