Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
They've got it pretty well balanced so far. Classes all have definite rolls to do. Tanks can taunt enemy players (putting a debuff on them where they take 30% more dmg from you until you get hit 3 times) and tanks can protect other players by taking 35% of their damage. The healers all have a roll other than just healing (debuffing, damage, ect.) Pretty much I don't think I can really call any class "OP" now, even though it's hard to tell. Of course an MMO is a lot harder to balance than an FPS though, but Mythic is doing good. Thats good to hear.Im not really interested in MMO pvp unless its balanced and that theres enough of an emphasis on it that it remains balanced and fun.Ok i dabbled with wow arena because its working with what you have and i am more than willing to give warhammer a good crack if its fun. Its kind of a grey area to comment on class balance because an MMO is a progressive product, alterations are always being made sometimes in jeapordy off balance but its a neccessary evil for the greater good of the game.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Ok nadril...i know you play both but for balance, how does it stack up to TF2.I think anyone who plays TF2 knows it has possibly the most well balanced character classes so how does it stack up to TF2? I was thinking of black orc aswell but i have no one to roll with  AFAIK. And i was looking at one of those display final copies with the price and it said £45 on it...can someone who lives in the UK give a price correction or affirmation over whether thats correct, little steep bearing in mind the subscription aswell.

Atom Smasher
In the grand scheme of things, this is a drop in the ocean. Americas spent half a trillion dollars of tax payers money invading iraq last i heard so this experiment and the discoveries we will see in 18 months or so will be tremendous, dont forget the laborotory cern has birthered some really siginificant discoveries in recent history so this is nothing but exciting.

New New Nano
I spend more time with my ipod than i do my girlfreind, at least thats what she says :P. It looks amazinga nd i want a classic ipod, 80gb in this style, bright yellow aluminium.I think the sound quality of ipods is based on the headphones you use, using the standard ones on the go and my skullcandys at home for when im listening to some podcasts and melting face in TF2.Beutifully designed device and i think it gives credence to those leaked plans for a convex curved ipod classic at christmas i buy, had my ipod 2 years now, time for an upgrade.

Today i realized just how powerful engineers are in goldrush..the one with the bomb anyway. One game we had about 3 pyro's and 4 engineers and they couldnt get past the bridge in all variations of that mode, simply because of all the turrets and pyro's...i just jump around as a scout finishing them off.My favourite thing is with heavys switching to the bat, jumping on there heads and killing them from above because they suddenly become sitting ducks, also learnt how to circle strafe around turrets and bat them down that way , providing i can get in from the side or behind. Oh and i can now say im a pc shooter propenent, it feels weird to play with the sticks and teh reduced speed is so apparent.- Paper Bridge
An arch is probably the best in theory where the centre piece or segment takes teh weight and that applys pressure on the two unconnected parts of the arch. Dude its one hell of a quandry :|- Atom Smasher
Its endeavours like this which are what made humans come out of the caves and explore the world. It truly is one of teh most captivating experiments even from a visual standpoint just of how big this atom smasher is and the engineering that went into it.- Anybody think of pursuing a career in gaming?
My pretty close freind rob took a full time course in game design and hes been sending examples of his work to media molecule, the british based developers of little big planet. He aspires for a job there and he has expressed a keen interest with them which i think is pretty cool. I would like a job in gaming but not in development, but rather something around the development side.I dont want the 19 hours a hard coding that a good quality game can demand during deadline...and weve all heard of the EA fatbabies stuff. I dont think anyones said anything about a career in gaming other than games development like journalism or media, if i do use my qualifications to pursiue journalism i could theoretically do games journalism.Anyone thought about it? EDIT:After talking to my freind about his experiences with jobs in game design etc, people who have had a past with game modsalways bring out a keen interest in prospective employers, as far as i know because you have gone out of youre way to understand the games architecture and mechanics and you can independently create fixes for usability problems in games.- Digital Distribution vs Boxed Products.Your thoughts.
I think as much as people like the feel of a physical product, the gaming industry very much wants games to go to strictly digital distribution.Especially on the pc with steam. The console market is sort of prohibitive because of these ridiculous bundles like the halo legendary edition where they can try and make a big fuss and make even more money at a risk of not making much of a product at all, and the halo 3 collectors editions is the standout example because they were touting the biggest ever media release, when the sales couldnt have been bigger than halo 2...and not even counting the biggest ever films. Digital distribution can reduce the price of games to that of a dvd because it cuts out the middle man.If games suddenly become half the price they usually are or significantly cheaper, then isnt that better for everyone?- Google releases Google Chrome
I still use firefox but im keeping google chrome for all those stray image links or to quickly do a wikipedia search.- [TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
Ok doing 3x better with the scout now.I think the demomans kinda easy...hanging back and blowing up 3 dudes at once on goldrush in the tunnel...wheras on scout i get blown to pices even when i go around. Its fantastic though, i have a new appreciation to those who play soldiers well and i think its the most satisfying class when you do well.- The official World of Warcraft thread.
The pre expansion deathshades.you cant expect people to do much of anything endgame if its going to count for anything.I mean ive already got all the herbs i need to get to incription 300 on my druid, that will keep me busy while wrath comes. If it wasnt for this druid i would have quit till the expansion.- [TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
This is a newb question...Whats with the upgrades system?how does it work?Im alone as a scout and neither of my weapons are strong enough to kill them before they kill me, seriiousley ittakes me ages so i just whip out the baseball bat and get to work.- Digital Distribution vs Boxed Products.Your thoughts.
So the biggest thing that will happen in gaming is the crossover from the traditional boxed product to digital distribution.Solid state media will become a thing of the past, as well as traditional gamestores but what are your thoughts on this. Do you like owning solid state media or would rather by it from a place like steam? When do you think this will become standard? Are bandwidth caps prohibitive to wide scale digital distribution? Personally i think that todays consoles arent built with this in mind.As mucha s microsoft touts that there console has the best online service it doesnt offer the scale of distribution of full games because they have a splintered market and not all there customers are optimzed with a hardrive.Surprisingly sony has come close to this with warhawk and the recent announcement of burnout paradise available for full on psn but the baseline hardrive space is way too low. Also those statistics that theres still a significant mergin of people in europe and america that arent broadband connected is worrying for game sales and revenue created because your narrowing your market if your going strictly DLC. What are your thoughts- [TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
I played it for 8 houirs straight yesterday and i loved every minute of it, was phenomenal.I was a big player of COD4 and i laughed in the face of the TF2 players in my wow guild who siad its so much ebtter than cod 4, and now i totally agree with them.My favourite class was the spy and second was the medic. My least favourite was the soldier purely because it just felt like another online fps wheras sneaking around was kind of refreshing.- The official World of Warcraft thread.
My feelings on WAR are up in the air, i dont know if i want to play a pvp based mmo, this is after playing TF2 for about 8 hours yesterday and loving every minute of it.- Insanely hard games
Heres one out of nowhere:XIII.Its in the top 3 of my favourite shooters, awesome cell shading but it was bruttally hard.Theres a monastry that your infiltrating and it has to be the most brutal set of levels ive ever played. If anyone has played the final mission on COD4 on the hardest difficulty against the clock, where it becomes a puzzle game switching weapons on teh fly and not taking cover too long and the need to headshot everything, then its like that for 4 levels. Also the final level is incredibly brutal because it suddenly becomes about how big your weapon is that youre skill.- the $100 laptop
I believe thats what the bill and miranda gates charity is doing...Even though i said early that there distributing aid in the wrong places and that infrastructure is key, there is merit and purpose to emergency aid and rations etc you shouldnt be quick to discredit teh act, its just too much money and emphasis is on immediate aid.- Weird experiences?
This happened about 3 months ago. My girlfreinds sister was getting married abroad so she decided she would stay at home and throw partys and abuse her free reign of the house.Anyway it was a thursday night we were a little liqoured up, we both fell asleep and when i wake up in the morning i find her freind laying next to me , little did i know it was 2:30 in the afternoon #-o and she'd been up since 9, got up got bored and invited her freind over :|- Google Chrome
I kind of have the same feelings about it i jsut like fore of the features in firefox than chrome. That is another good point look how long Gmail has been a beta. How long will chrome be a beta? Not that i have anything against google at all. I do use gmail and i do have chrome installed. I dont think it matters whether it always has that beta tag on, your always going to be tweaking and refining the productso i suppose they can get away with it wheras if GTA4 came out with a big beta sticker on you would get some outcry. Most of the press about it though is that this is google coming one step forward to releasing a OS, and OS which is always connected to google and centred around google, a menubar mod for xp happened like this where you typed what you were looking for it would also throw up a web search.Theres better examples but thats the concept in theory.- The official World of Warcraft thread.
Got my new rig, it feels weird to be able to run wow on the highest settings and i hate the 7 hour crossover patch from 2.0 ->2.4.2...- Google Chrome
I really really really wnated to like this browser to the point that i would use it as my browser of choice but i havent liked it as much as i like firefox.Ok its beta but my gmail still says beta on it so google set standards of releasing an almost feature complete program and eventually iterating on it. I love the idea of trying to create lightweight apps for the internet especially because of how americas getting bandwidth caps and it looks like this can easily translated to a phone without ripping out features. Ill keep it installed just in case there are some major updates but im going to stick with firefox, for now.- Theme Parks
Love themeparks will go on almost anything.I wont go on those tower things which shoot you straight up purely because i had a bad experience on one of those where i cracked a bone in my shoulder and it also dropped my mobile straight to the floor smashing it. I love the ultimate at ligh[bleep]er valley, kamale(sp?) at flamingo land, Air, oblivion and ripsaw at alton towers.I think i got the names wright but if i have, its because i havent been for a year or two, i dont have money to burn on food and gifts for lady freinds. - [TF2] It's MANN Vs.
