  1. This is a horrible idea. Shouldn't be done at all. Ever. Not to mentioned that it goes against Jagex's vision for the game (they're doing everything they can to remove any method of 'get rich quick' schemes). Plus, there's no debate here. If it's not gonna get locked, it should go in suggestions, where it can get nitpicked to perfection or discarded as a bad idea, which ever is most likely.
  2. He is not Mod Mark.. Of course... I think he likely would've noticed the fact that Jagex staff get their own custom avatar, and put it in his avatar? Also, it doesn't sound, for the first half of the article, as if he's talking from Jagex's point of view. I'd think that, while this is a very well-written piece of work, a Jagex staff member would probably sound slightly more professional, and admittedly, aloof from the players, than he sounds. Sorry, but I don't believe you're a mod. I'm sure that if you're actually a JMod, you come across skeptics like me all the time... Feel free to ignore me if you will. Oh come on people, surely you have more intelligence than that? It's a quote from a post on the RSOF that Mod Mark made. Sure, it's not particularly obvious, but it's not hard. Anyway, I still don't see how this means that a shop will be a made to buy maple logs, there's no evidence of that beyond an assumption or twelve. I just use my MTK maples as free firemaking experience. Ok, so not free, as I had to pay for them, but it wasn't the maples I was truly paying for, it was the seeds.
  3. I can understand how death might be considered confusing, but the rest is mostly P2P stuff. New players are not paying for the game, so as far as they are concerned, very little is complicated.
  4. If you read the unbalanced trade newspost, somebody obviously didn't check it. A couple of the words are partially hidden off the edge!
  5. If I were to insult you sufficiently, to the point where you cannot return to RuneScape or tip.it because the mere reminder of the pain my insults put you through, do you think that could encourage to leave and never come back? Because, for the greater good, I am willing to call you names. But only if you ask nicely.
  6. Ahh, good to see that we're all nicely distracted away from last month! I wonder what the odds of the first quest coming out tomorrow are? It'd be a nice birthday present, me thinks!
  7. It depends on what is actually copywritten, but yeah. You do get the situation where the person who sang the song gets copyright for 50 years, the record label gets it for 70, but the person who actually wrote the song only gets it for 30. But for a game like RS? I'm not sure of the software copyright laws in the UK. Especially as software is is weird, and it technically doesn't exist. All it is is a bunch of ones and zeros that a CPU can interpret to mean something else.
  8. I'm reading it right now, and just finished the Web Updates section. You missed something: The Mute Button on the login screen! Personally, that bit alone deserves an A!
  9. In all honesty, anyone who plans on quitting or has quit because of the unbalanced trading update has clearly not thought them through. They are following immediate (mostly incorrect) assumptions. For example, I had one in game conversation with someone who thought that 'unbalanced trade' meant that if more than 3000gp was even involved it would be blocked. For example, he thought that it would be impossible to sell an abyssal whip anywhere but the GE, as it costs more than 3000gp. Seriously, think through every assumption you have made about the new restrictions. Think them through fully. It's really not as bad as you think. The positives more than outweigh the negatives.
  10. As it's now possible to be frozen and poisoned in F2P, even if it is by revenants, I wonder if these new higher level revenants come out, if they will be able to summon creatures to help them in F2P?
  11. I find it interesting how a lot of people are commenting that the GE's price for yew logs is inaccurate. I'm here to tell you a startling truth. It's perfectly accurate. When the GE was released the price of them was 320 each. It has steadily risen since then because there is greater demand than there is supply. You can get logs for cheaper on the forums by all means, but realise that this is the accurate market price, and will be the only one in a few days time. If the price of yew logs is too high to be profitable then we (the players) have only ourselves to blame.
  12. It's good, but I saw it before about a week ago.
  13. I don't see how this would tell them if there are any possible ways to transfer items, as the 3k limit hasn't started yet and anyone who did transfer items to their new accounts would just use regular trading. I think it's just Jagex backtracking. Probably why they did it quietly in the first place, so that if it all went [bleep] up they could back track without most players noticing.
  14. I'm assuming you'd either have to operate the cape to switch which side you see, or permanently wear ghostly robes?
  15. Some things are certainly part of the mechanics of summoning, for example, the healing 'splats'. It's the first time I've seen the blue splats with any number except 0 in. And is it just me, or was the blue a different colour?
  16. If that's true and not a prank, then that is AWESOME!
  17. I love the recycling ideas, especially the herblaw minigame. I'd do it even if it didn't give xp. Collecting waterfilled vials (I refuse to pay over the odds for them, even with the price drop from the GE) is the most boring part of herblaw.
  18. What confuses me is why they would go to a web design company when they have a perfectly good in house webteam.
  19. Hehe, as I was reading it I thought "Hang on, I swear I've seen this list on TruthScape... possibly in the same order".
  20. How about Microsoft? They remove all support and updates for each OS to force customers onto the new one. P.s. I think it pretty obvious that this huge update refers to summoning, with all the development diaries etc. Slightly different in that Microsoft has a monopoly on the OS market, while Jagex is a small fish in a very large pond in the MMORPG market. Also, Microsoft stop updating old OSs when they release a new one, but they don't stop updating things like Microsoft office when they release a new visual studio. If Jagex were to release a new RS, then I could understand them not updating RS2 any more (as they did with the RSC/RS2 switch). But they're releasing a new product, not replacing an old one, so there's no logical reason for it.
  21. Until the day when I cannot log in because Jagex could no longer afford to run even one server, Runescape is not dead, and Jagex has not fallen. When that day comes, you can gloat, complain and whine all you want. Until that day, kindly shut up.
  22. We tend not to use basements in the UK. Occasionally an old country house might have a cellar, but most don't. I was on the verge of applying for a job at Jagex last month (hoping to get an industrial placement in their dev teams) when they actually posted a proper placement on their website. It was in customer support, paid less than regular CS and wanted you to work more shifts. No thanks. I'll go to a company that will actually teach me something useful, then go to jagex for a graduate job if necessary.
  23. A somewhat slow method I have devised is to buy medium level grimy herbs (irit, ranarr, etc), clean them then sell them back on the GE. They go for more clean than grimy, plus you get a small amount of herblaw exp. Sure, the money's not brilliant, but it's a distraction.
  24. Given that projects take months, possibly a year to be developed, I'd say pretty much everything released over the last 9 - 12 months was written with the idea that this month's updates would happen. So yes. It may not have been specifically placed to substitute essence running, but it was probably thought of as a possible alternative.
  25. Agreed, although I personally wouldn't waste watermelons on super compost. I think my main 'little niggle' would be to put a 'collect' option on the bank chests in shantay, castle wars and lumbridge cellar. Especially as castle wars and lumbridge are probably the banks I use most often.
