  1. Irons and steels still look too similar, IMO. ~q
  2. Whatever it is.. I'm sure it won't live up to expectations and half of Runescape will say Varrock looked better the old way. :D ~q
  3. I doubt they will be after sites like this one. There are several well-known sites that do more than just run the occasional ad.. they are entirely devoted to cheating. If Jagex hasn't shut them down yet, I have to wonder why. Perhaps they cannot. ~q
  4. Google ads are a marketplace. Whichever company pays the most for their ads to appear, those are the ones that show up. Since the gold farmers/sellers are making money off their activities, they can afford to pay the most for ads. Don't criticize sites like Tip.it. They are giving up revenues to do the ethical thing and block those ads, like most good fan sites do. ~q
  5. Unlike some other sites, we are banning them. Although we can't 100% control it since Google puts those adds there, not Tip.It. That's why we have a sticky where you can please those adds for them to be banned. I can confirm that this is an ongoing problem. I started up my new site only a few weeks ago, and every week I have to scan the Google ads for new gold sellers and ban them. They are like roaches... kill one and another shows up not soon thereafter. Anyway, I am glad to see Jagex FINALLY communicating with its users about this issue, rather than just having their mods endlessly bleat "report them using the abuse reporting function" like mindless sheep. ~q
  6. 3.1m is cheap. Right now there is a glut of these because of people who made a bunch of them and then dumped them on the market at a huge loss. Not too bright. Eventually they will go back up to near the price of an onyx. And I bet Jagex will improve them a bit too. BTW... has anyone confirmed if the CW jewelery affects an opponent holding the opponent's flag or your own flag? Meaning.. if I am on Sara do I do more damage to a Zammy holding his own Zammy flag or only the Sara flag? Thanks. ~q
  7. I hope they are good.. because right now there are too few spells of any use to bother staying on Lunars. ~q
  8. This a variation on a gimmick like this that someone did in the real world. No offense, but I consider it just a form of begging. I realize you are doing it for fun and not because you need to get stuff, but really, it only works because others are generous and give you stuff to make it work. ~q
  9. I wish you the best of luck with this. I and a few others tried this just about a year ago with world 42... and it worked but only so long as I was temple building 8+ hours a day. I eventually ran out of steam. Hope you fare better. ~q
  10. "Think about it, everybody has been ranting about how the wilderness ditch slows runecrafting. I agree, but its impact may be felt in more than just runecrafting. I bought a santa 2 weeks ago for 21 million gp. Now they are 19.5 million. So how over 2 weeks did I lose 1.5 mil? I put some thought into it, and the answer is, the Wilderness Ditch." I'm sorry, but just because two things happen at around the same time, that doesn't mean that one caused the other. The ditch means 1 extra click every 2 minutes. It has no meaningful impact on runecrafting whatsoever. ~q
  11. I went from low level to medium level to high level fairly quickly. I found that the maturity and kindness of MOST players my level improved constantly as I went up. Are there some bad apples who are high level? Sure. But on the whole, most high levels are FAR nicer players than lower levels are. ~q
  12. I can make about 3000 cosmics an hour with the ditch. Hardly "nerfing" of RC. If anything, it's still too easy. ~q

There are people in Edgeville world 18 now trying to sell sharks for 550 each... and one guy sold them at 500. ~q
  14. It's best to play the game to have fun and advance yourself... and in time you'll become both cool and powerful without even trying. ;) ~q
  15. If someone started a thread here for every idiotic post on the official forums, there wouldn't be a hard drive big enough to hold the database. ;) ~q
  16. You don't. The area just north of the ditch is non-Wild. ~q
  17. I really hope this is sarcasm. ~q
  18. It stops luring in a couple of ways. For starters, it makes it impossible to exploit bugs to drag people into the wild. ~q
  19. Absolutely the best update to the game that Jagex has made this year, possibly with the exception of making luring illegal last month. Way to go, Jagex! ~q

Not a pessimist, an optimist. I am hopeful that if enough people put forth the effort, we can get Jagex to change. And in the meantime, I am doing my part to help people from falling victim to the scams Jagex refuses to fix. Uh huh. Sure. There are sites devoted to doing this stuff that have been around for years and are still there. I've spent my fair share of time in the past reporting to Jagex, and it's pointless. They simply don't care. ~q

What would you suggest I do? Stand there reporting them all day so my reports can be ignored? Post about it on the Runescape forums so Jagex's band of sycophants can lock the thread and quote me lies about how Jagex is working hard on the issue? I've spent a couple hundred hours of my time writing a comprehensive site to help people avoid scams. I wrote two articles on a gaming site to help raise awareness and increase the pressure on Jagex to clean up its act. I've spoken out loudly and often to get Jagex to reverse some of its idiotic policies. What more would you have me do? What has anyone else done? ~q
  22. Saying that RuneScape is good for teaching you English is like saying that GTA is good for teaching you how to be a businessman. ~q
  23. I'm sorry, but you're mistaken. If it were due to people getting cooking capes, then the price of raw sharks would have stayed high while the price of cooked ones went down. But both have gone down. It's due to Jagex's avoidance of the autoer issue, nothing more. ~q
  24. The entire Parents' Guide is nothing more than a fluff piece -- a marketing brochure to make parents feel at ease when 8-year-old Johnny brings home a Scholastic book club flyer with an ad in it for the Runescape Official Handbook and starts playing the game at his local library. For example, the Parents Guide claims that Jagex maintains an active presence in the game, when they don't; it claims the game is for "all ages"; it says NOTHING about the Wilderness; and it says Jagex offers speedy customer service. Yes, Runescape does have some positive educational aspects. It is also a great place for kids to learn how to treat others like dirt, cheat, lie, scam, develop dysfunctional relationships, get addicted, and much more. I cover these issues and more in great detail at my site; see below. ~q
