  1. Introduction: In While Guthix Sleeps, Lucien had acquired the Staff of Armadyl and the Stone of Jas. Now, with possession of both of these powerful artifacts, Lucien aims to ascend into Godhood and then use his powers to enslave all races through Runescape: humans, dwarves, and elves alike. His plans for domination of Gielinor can only be stopped by you, brave adventurer. Do you have what it takes? Requirements: -Must have completed While Guthix Sleeps and the Rum Deal -76 ranged (90+ recommended) -70 herblore -72 agility -Must be very proficient in combat [hide=Quest Description (wall of text ahead)]1 ) To start this quest, speak to Idria in Falador Castle. She will tell you that strange phenomena have been reported throughout Gielinor. A blizzard has buried the normally tropical Port Sarim beneath several kilograms of snow, hordes of undead monsters have emerged from the sands of Al Kharid and laid siege to the city, and an earthquake has caused significant damage to the castle in Ardougne. She fears that Lucien is behind these calamities and sends you to investigate. She gives you a specialized Comm Orb that serves as a camera. 2-4 ) Head to Port Sarim. When you arrive at the docks of Port Sarim, you are blown backwards by a strong gust and you feel chilled. There is snow up to your character's knees on the ground here, and the ocean is frozen for as far as you can see. Talk to some of the sailors here and they will tell you that the troubles began when a man in tattered robes wielding a staff came through. A cutscene occurs, in which Lucien is shown walking along the docks, headed in the direction of Draynor. He was attacked by Monks of Entrana and the Void Knights, but effortlessly slaughtered them all, ending the cutscene. The sailors tell you that a few days after he passed through, this blizzard hit. They moan that if it does not subside soon, the port will go out of business. Head east, to Draynor. You learn from the Wise Old Man that Lucien passed through Draynor, mumbling something about sand-rats. Continue east, to Al Kharid. When you get there, you see a cutscene of the Warriors of Al Kharid fending off Armoured Zombies. Fight your way to the Palace, where Hassan begs for your help. He says that an outsider who reeked of death came through and summoned an army of undead monsters to attack his precious city. When you ask him if Lucien said anything, you are shown a cutscene of Lucien killing the Al Kharid gatekeepers, walking into the middle of the city and raising a horde of monstrous creatures. He then says "Now that the sand-rats have been dealt with, all that is left is to bend the weak King of Kandarin to my will." After that, Lucien teleports and the cutscene ends. Head to Ardougne to find the castle in ruins. Lathas is nowhere to be found. Return to Falador. 5 ) Show the orb to Idria and she will tell you that Lucien is likely trying to cripple the major kingdoms. When you ask why he hasn't attacked Varrock yet, Idria says that it's likely because of the Shield of Arrav. Just then, a cutscene occurs in which Lucien appears inside White Knight Castle. He slays several White Knights and transforms them into Liches. Lucien says that his plans are already in motion, and that he cannot be stopped. Idria attempts to cast a teleblock spell on Lucien but he easily deflects it. He then deploys three level 225 Liches to kill you, Idria, and the others. Surok asks Lucien to free him, but Lucien laughs and teleports away. 6 ) During the fight with the Liches, Idria will be helping you. If she dies, you have start the battle over. Use food on her to heal her, but be careful not to die yourself. Each Lich has 325 HP and uses ranged and magic attacks, both of which inflict poison capable of hitting for 12. The Liches' ranged attacks hit for up to 25 damage and their magic can hit for 20. After you defeat all three Liches, Lucien reappears and curses Idria. Surok, who is well versed in the dark arts, recognizes the spell Lucien cast and asks for you to release him, that Idria is doomed otherwise. You ask him why you should trust him, and he says that Lucien betrayed him and that he never liked Lucien to begin with. Thaerisk sees that Idria is fading very quickly and gives you permission to to free Surok. Do so and he casts a spell that temporarily counteracts Lucien's spell. Surok tells you to seek out someone who is knowledgeable with herbs and that he will wait here in White Castle, so that after you save Idria he can assist you with the assault on Lucien. Have Idria follow you to Taverly and speak with Thaerisk, who attempts to cure her but fails. He tells you to go to the monastery and seek out Abbott Langely, for he is the only one who might know how to lift this curse. Go to the monestary, and the Abbott will tell you that this is no ordinary curse and it is beyond even his power to break. There is hope, though. He tells of an ancient potion that, when blessed by someone devout in Saradomin's ways, can supposedly break any curse. He says that it's the best chance you have at saving Idria. 7 ) Go speak with Reldo in the Varrock Palace and ask him about a "Miracle Potion." He doesn't know what you're talking about until you explain that Idria was cursed and nothing seems to help ease her anguish. He then deduces that you must be talking about the Elixir of Life, a legendary concoction capable of curing any ailment. The Elixir of Life requires goutweed, ground blue dragon scales, and magic tree roots, all mixed in a vial of distilled water. Bring the Elixir of Life to Abbott Langely and he will bless it. Return to Idria in Taverly and have her drink the potion. The game fades away to a cutscene... Lucien is accompanied by an undead King Lathas, who is leading a massive army of zombies, skeletons, and Liches. They are marching towards the Demonic Ruins deep in the Wilderness. When they arrive, Lucien calls upon the power of the Stone of Jas to usher forth the Dragonkin into Gielinor by opening a portal at the Demonic Ruins. He then attempts enslave them with dark magic; at first they try to resist him, but he soon overwhelms them. 8 ) Idria is feeling much better, so she offers to teleport the both of you back to Falador Castle, where you will regroup. Akrisae says that he felt an incredible force enter the plane of Gielinor, far to the north. Head up to the Demonic Ruins to discover a massive castle where the Ruins used to be. As you enter the Castle, a cutscene occurs where Lucien begins the ritual to imbue himself with the full power of the Stone of Jas and ascend to God-hood. Surok teleports to the entrance of the castle, where he gives you a "Scroll of Returning." He tells you to use it when you get to the top, so that if you have to leave, you do not have to traverse the castle and "waste what precious little time remains." 9 ) The inside of this castle is not considered to be in the Wilderness, but it is still very dangerous. It's all multi-combat, and it's swarming with Armoured Zombies, Armoured Skeletons, Nechryaels, Black Demons, and Aberrant Spectres. There are several side rooms also, which each contain 3 Armoured Zombies and a Lich. Fortunately, Surok fights alongside you until you reach Lucien's chamber. The Castle has four floors, each with an array of traps to navigate. At the end of the fourth floor, you meet Lucien, who is guarded by three level 499 Dragonkin. A cutscene occurs in which you and Surok stand off against Lucien and the Dragonkin. Normally, Dragonkin are immortal, but Surok Magis casts a spell that significantly weakens them. Enraged, Lucien kills Surok and then sends the Dragonkin to attack you. Fortunately, the throne room is not multi-combat. Unfortunately, if you teleport out, Lucien heals the Dragonkin to their full HP. Any of them that you managed to slay remain dead. Each Dragonkin has 255 HP and uses melee, magic, and ranged attacks, as well as firebreath. They can also use Prayers, switching after damage is inflicted with a non-protected style for three turns. Their firebreath is poisonous, capable of dealing 10 poison damage and hitting up to 20 even with an anti-fire shield, or 15 with a pot + anti-fire shield. Their melee attacks can hit up to 40 damage, their magic hits up to 25 and drains your attack and strength by 5%, and their ranged attacks can hit up to 30 and stun you for 1 second. Their magic is extremely accurate. 10 ) Once you slay the Dragonkin, Lucien laughs at your feeble attempts to stop him, saying that the Dragonkin were merely a diversion meant to buy him enough time to finish the ritual. Lucien then transforms into a monstrously large behemoth and apparently kills you with a single blow. Thankfully, when you wake up in Falador Castle, you retain all your items. Surok explains that he teleported you to safety moments before Lucien could finish you off. In the process, he sealed Lucien inside his castle, though he does not think the seal will last for long. He says that the only way you can have any chance to beat Lucien is to destroy the Staff of Armadyl. As long as he wields the Staff, he is invulnerable. Unfortunately, because he also has the Stone of Jas aiding him, he will still be very difficult to defeat. She says that the Staff of Armadyl is reputed to gain its power from the gemstone at the top, so if you can shatter that, the staff will become useless. 11 ) Return the Castle with full food and ranged equipment. Make your way back to Lucien's chamber, where you now get to fight the biggest, baddest boss in RS. Lucien himself has a lifebar that is twice the size of the Corporeal Beast's. If you Monster Examine him, it says that he is level 999 and has 9999 HP. You want to attack the Staff of Armadyl, which has 300 HP. Lucien's attacks can all deal up to 115 damage, but he uses an animation before his magic and ranged attacks, much like Tztok Jad. With his Magic attack, black energy will gather on the top of his staff for 2.4 seconds and then he will hurl a black ball of energy at you. With his melee attack, he swings his massive claw at you. It has no preliminary warning, but you shouldn't be in range to be hit by this, anyway. His ranged attack consists of him swiping the ground, crunching it into a ball in his fist, and flinging it at you. The process takes 3 seconds. It's a long fight, but it can be won with patience. 12 ) After you deplete the HP of the Staff of Armadyl to 0, a cutscene occurs and the gemstone shatters. Lucien's size greatly diminishes, but now the real battle begins. If you need to restock, run to the door and leave his room. You cannot teleport out of the room. Lucien is now level 666, has 500 HP and five attacks. His first attack is a simple teleportation technique, like the Abyssal Demons. He always follows it up with a melee attack consisting of two quick jabs with his fists, each capable of dealing up to 20 damage. His next attack consists of gathering energy for 3 seconds and flinging a black orb at you. This attack is magic-based, reduces all combat stats by 15% if it hits and can deal up to 45 damage. His fourth attack occurs when he is reduced to 50% HP; he summons King Lathas to help him. Lathas only has one attack, a melee attack, which hits up to 40 damage. While Lathas is alive, he constantly chase* after you, so binding magic is really helpful. Lucien will not attack you during this time, but will instead put up an impenetrable shield that heals himself for 25 HP every 3 seconds. Lathas has 255 HP and since you cannot damage Lucien until he is destroyed, deal with him quickly so you can get back to killing Lucien. Lucien's final attack consists of a whirlwind forming around Lucien's hand for 2.4 seconds and then a black dart shooting at you for up to 35 damage. 13 ) After defeating the most difficult boss in the game, loot his body and return to Idria with the good news. She tells you that the blizzard in Port Sarim has subsided and the hordes of undead in Al Kharid mysteriously vanished. She hands over 1m gold as a reward for your valor and augments any skill over 70 by 150,000 experience. This can be done three times.[/hide] Rewards: -3x 150,000 xp in any skill over 70. -1,000,000 coins -Shattered Staff of Armadyl There are four shards needed to repair the Staff of Armadyl, which are obtained as rare drops by fighting Liches inside Lucien's Castle. You receive the base of the staff as a reward from the quest, but should you lose that or if you did not pick it up when you killed Lucien, you can obtain it as an uncommon drop from a Lich. To repair the SoA, you need 80 smithing, 85 prayer and 95 crafting. To wield it, you need 80 magic and 80 attack. 2. Never... Jagex are money-grubbing bastards, and to do this, it would cost a LOT of money. To put it another way, Jagex refuses to spend enough to hire decent a decent Beta Testing team, so what makes you think that they would be willing to spend money on a re-write from the ground up?
  3. Probably the scariest moment for me was in RSC... I had just spent most of my gold on a rune large helm (they were 100k at the time, and 100k was about the same as 1m is today) and was killing Lessers in Melzar's maze. I got down to 12 HP with no food and no prayer left and was going to die... But the other person in there took pity on me and attacked the lesser, allowing me to use the door. You couldn't run for 3 rounds of combat, and you couldn't eat either.
  4. I was at Kree Ara when my computer restarted itself. Thank God it was between kills, and with some ingenuity I was able to safely log back in. What I did was log onto my noob and enter the clan chat... The guys told me when it was safe, so I logged in and turned on prayer.
  5. Claws are not overpowered... They suck beyond their special attack. However, I do wholly agree that you should NEED to complete WGS to use the special, as well as wear the Dragon Plate. I'm willing to bet the price on the D plate would go up if you had to complete the quest to wear it... It'd be more prestigous to wear one than it currently is now, giving more people an incentive to own one.
  6. I have never in my 3 and a half years of playing, seen anyone with white earmuffs. :? There is a haircut though that could look like with earmuffs if you choose white hair. Right, it's called the "Earmuffs" haircut, I believe, and it makes you look like Princess Leah.
  7. For those of you saying claws should have been the quest reward, that would have f-ed up the game. The only thing that keeps the claws special from being ridiculously overpowered is its rarity. Because they are so hard to obtain, it somewhat balances them. If there were thousands of claws in the game like there are d plate pieces, then PKing would be an even bigger joke than it currently is.
  8. Yes, many of my friends have noticed this too. Also, the price of d claws is over 100m in w2 now. People are offering party hats for them. :ohnoes: It won't be long until the plate becomes as rare as third age, at this rate.
  9. Wow, somebody reported you for that, and Jagex actioned it? [bleep] that, seriously. This is proof that real people do not read reports. Any real person would have been able to identify from context that you made a typo. :wall:
  10. Regular pigtails + any skillcape causes this effect. It's a bug that came with the new hairstyles update.
  11. A friend of mine sold his dragon plate for 20m this evening. He has no reason to lie and in the past has been trustworthy, so I don't doubt what he said. This either means that the changes to the demons are starting to set in or that a merchanting clan bought out plates.
  12. Well, I was happy to get 5.5m from doing a QUEST. Sure, would have been nice to get 12m, but w/e. That's still leaps and bounds better than any other quest reward. \ Btw, my friend sold his D plate on the GE for 20m today. I think the effects of the Demons being tweaked have finally set in. Either that, or a merchanting clan bought 'em out.
  13. After over a week of removing and replacing at min each time the GE updated, I finally sold it. Free 8m from this quest (sold my Elite for 2m, my Dagon for 500k (ran out of junk) and this for 5.5m. I'm happy.
  14. If the first three hits miss, the fourth hit will be about 20% more powerful than normal.
  15. ROFL. =D> That was awesome.
  16. I paid 30m for my Dragon Platebody and I love it. Granted, I play on a female character because the stripe isn't nearly as noticeable nor as ugly, and the [bleep]es are much better looking on females, but meh. I love it. I have my dream outfit: Dragon Plate, Full helm, Legs, and Claws. I'm happy. I don't care that I've lost 18m lol. :P
  17. OMG the Stone of Jas is REAL! I discovered such a thing exists IRL... :ohnoes: [hide=][/hide]
  18. Anybody else notice this? The head, leg, and arm are the Platebody pieces?
  19. What bothered me more than Lucien slaying the heroes was that he wanted to kill me, after ALL that trouble I went through getting him that Staff in Temple of Ikov. :? There's just no loyalty amongst criminals anymore.
  20. Anybody else remember when Lucien was just a guy with in black robes with a black full helm? He sure has changed. :ohnoes:
  21. I was able to get my pair of claws from a good friend who went to demons with me (duo) and got a pair on LS. He had already gotten two pairs solo, so he sold me the pair we got for 60K + market. And the average spec with D claws deals around 35-55 damage. The max is around 83-85. If Jagex is going to nerf them, they will do it during next week's update or not at all.
  22. I just tried it. The yoda-wannabe says "Oh, you can only use regular plate armor on this. Otherwise bad things happen, yes?" So no, you can't use dragon armor on it, even if you have the plate and full helm.
  23. Okay, as a result, I see the dragon claws reaching over 200m street price and the Dragon Plate finally going back up. I hope this doesn't make the demons like the CB, in that modifying them makes them too difficult to kill while still having a chance at turning a profit. Very few teams go to the CB since the stomp was added.
  24. Soon, people will lose interest in the demons. The pieces are worthless and the claws are so underpriced that it's not worth it. No one has 50m junk and few people are willing to BH trade. It's also quite probable the drop rates will be nerfed. I also foresee them removing safe spots to make the demons more difficult to kill. Soon, the tide of people doing the quest will taper off. That will mean less pieces are entering the game. Bottom line is that in a few months, the D plate may actually go up.
