  1. The OP probably doesn't need 205 range defence at 77 defence, 150-160 should suffice.
  2. I don't know why the speed vs. power debate exists. People should just realize that it's easier to compare weapons when you group the two factors together. Anyway, scimmy beats longsword in every situation. The longsword's higher accuracy (note that I don't say higher strength) doesn't compensate for the scimitar's superior strength in the vast majority of situations. The only exception is metal dragons.
  3. FoG

llamster replied to Superlife77's topic in Rants
I win about 95% percent of games at FoG, even though I often face players that are much higher level than I am. The reason? I run. Ironically, I find it easier to take down higher level players because they almost always tank in the middle. I have never lost to anyone over level 100, but I've lost to levels 60-80 plenty of times.
  4. Are you asking which are the better weapon, or are you asking which is the better thing to smith? The answer to the first question is knives, and you shouldn't smith either of them. EDIT: I see, you're wondering which is more cost effective. I think knives are still better even though they cost twice as much, since you can just use lower level knives (like, addy knives versus rune darts).
  5. Why do you recommend a DFS and obby shield over rune defender? Surely they don't hit that hard.
  6. Yep. They're the most profitable cannonable monster in the game if I'm not mistaken.
  7. If you're going to use knives, then use mith, addy or rune. I've heard that rune knives can yield faster kills than broad-tipped bolts. Any sort of weak, low cost equipment (bone bolts, low level knives, etc.) is pointless for aviansies on account of their excellent drops. The faster kills you get from using better ammo allows for more profit overall.
  8. Is the new Arcane shield any good for maging Rex? It has a +20 mage attack bonus and high defence stats.
  9. You mention that you use lobsters as training food. They're horribly expensive, so salmon or tuna are much better options. Nice guide. The zombies are also great for training range as well as melee.
  10. I can't stand range and just want it over would cannon make it like 10k+ more xp a hour? If you can't stand it, then why train it at all?
  11. Prayer also refers to killing them one-on-one, without emerald e bolts, which a lot of people do for some reason. That doesn't make more money than tanking. But emerald bolts do make more money.
  12. You can try using emerald (e) bolts next time. Kill them in the Eyrie (center area is too crowded), and fight a bunch of them at once, using the bolts' poison effect to speed up kills. You'll get considerably faster kills than with plain mith bolts. EDIT: You should use the revenue from your aviansie trips to level up your prayer ;)
  13. id say cockroaches or flesh crawlers. Cockroaches? Even the level 56 ones have pretty high defence which makes the XP rate much inferior to other places. To answer your question, flesh crawlers and giant spiders.
  14. Your trips are much too long. If you only kill enough mithril dragons to fill up your inventory with d bones and mith bars, then you should make profit. Also, swap the void spinner for a Beast of Burden, use pineapple pizzas instead of sharks, and use prayer mixes (heal 6 hp per dose).
  15. Mithril dragons are quite profitable even if you don't get any good drops. The mith bars and dragon bones pay for a good chunk of the expenses.
  16. Chaos Tunnels? That's a horrible place to kill them compared to the Ancient Cavern.
  17. The whip can do more damage in the same amount of time as a godsword. The godsword, however, is much more accurate and has a massive prayer bonus, which makes it ideal for monster hunting. As a general purpose weapon, however, the whip is better. By your logic a dart-speed weapon that can do 5 damage is superior to a whip-speed weapon that can do 50. Honestly, I don't know why people even consider speed and power to be two different factors, except in certain cases like PvP. It's much easier to just group them together.
  18. What's your 'best tanking setup'?
  19. That's why you test these things out for yourself. Godswords are only good if you're using Void because of the percentage multiplier. I though Void's boost affected your stats, not your bonuses. 61% more str. True. Crush is 20 higher. True.... wait? Thats like 20%. Crush is more important than str. All KB speeds are correct. GS's are not good weapons there, they're just too slow. Godswords are 50% slower but give 61% more strength bonus. But anyway I've answered my own question: 61% higher strength bonus doesn't mean your max hit is 61% higher. It's more like 40%, so the sara sword is better.
  20. They can be poisoned. But emerald (e) is the best because you can tell when the poison takes effect.
  21. like i said. dark knights at dark knight fortress (north of falidor) safespot: stand on top of mountain and ur free to range ur only a couple of pixels away so i think u can be able to use shortbow. they cant get u, they have 40hp from wat i heard. its great! I use a spot that's much better than the one you mentioned, plus you'll make profit. You stand in the room upstairs with an altar and range the black knights across the fence, using Eagle Eye to speed up kills. You can go across the fence to pick up arrows and drops. That said, safespots are pretty overrated.
  22. Make money back from the p pots? Have you bothered to actually understand the guides you claim to have read? Aviansies are one of the most profitable NPCs in the game, better than most dragons if I'm not mistaken. With your prayer level, though, you should not even consider using prayer. Tank them; at 70 defence you should use a setup with at least 200 ranged defence, and use B2P to heal.
  23. Unless you're fighting something particular high leveled, a fighter torso and neitiznot helm are better than Barrows. Torag's legs are a good option, though.
  24. Wow. That's over 10mil. What items are you using for armor instead of barrows? The helmet looks like a neitiznot, not sure though. And for some reason he's wearing dragon boots, which is stupid considering they give 0 range defence. Helm looks like Granite, Granite body and legs gives alright ranged defence, so helm probably does too. EDIT: Granite Helm has an alright Ranged Defence. Either way it's a terrible setup. The guy's level 85 defence, so he doesn't need that much armor.
  25. Cockroach workers. They drop them up to 13 at a time, which adds up quickly.
