  4. I'll begin by posting a word that begins with the letter 'A', followed by it's definition and, though it's not required, an example of it being used in a sentence. The rest is straight-forward. This is a chance to demonstrate your exemplary vocabulary as well as attain knowledge of words you haven't encountered. Commencons! Affinity -noun Definition: A natural liking for or attraction to a person, thing, idea, etc. Example: I have an affinity for the congenial girl in my English class.

  8. Last year in my anthropology class we learned about a social phenomenon called diffusion of responsibility. Diffusion of responsibility usually occurs in large groups where the responsibility to take action is diffused amongst the persons. A distinct example our teacher gave us was the stabbing and raping of Kitty Genovese: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitty_Genovese#Attack The individuals who heard or observed the portions of the attack had the mindset, "It sounds like someone may be in trouble, but I'll let the other neighbours take care of it." Do you find yourself diffusing the responsibility when in large groups? Or do you take action before a situation elevates? I find that in situations where action must be taken I want to help, but think I can't. I end up fearing the repercussions I'll face if I do take action and end up diffusing the responsibility on to someone else.
  9. I beg to differ... The minute I stepped off the plane, after having returned from my two week stay in Jamaica, I felt the cold breeze pierce my body from all angles. It was as if it was saying, "Remember me?"
  10. I was verbally bullied quite badly in Grade 7 and 8- a different bully each year. In both cases I had dated a girl who had recently rejected the guy (my bully) who asked her, thus they decided to take out their angst of getting rejected on me. In retrospect it really was stupid of me not to tell anyone about it, I feared being labelled as a "tatal-taler" (how the hell do you spell that anyways?), a "rat", a "snitch", any name that would suit me as someone who reported their problems to those of higher authority- this was allegedly considered "uncool" in those days. It's terrible to hear about cases such as these where the victim chooses death over life.
  11. Agreed. I also think it depends on who died and the way they died. For example I wouldn't jest about a woman who was raped and beaten to death- she was penetrated without consent and forcefully killed. In some cases where the death was humorous (as humorous as a death can be) or out of the stupidity of the person, then I'll joke about it. You might recall this little incident http://www.cnn.com/2...lity/index.html and the jokes about how he should receive a Darwin award. There were also several gif's with Batman holding the victim's head in his hands. It seems celebrities get the worst treatment despite the way they die. I remember how quickly South Park jumped on Steve Irwin's death when they included a character attending Satan's Sweet 16 party as Steve Irwin with a stingray tail portruding from his chest.
  12. I just finished watching the first two episodes of Blood+ and I have to say that the gore in the anime is so grotesque it's almost unbearable. I can already forsee how reckless Saya will be towards her enemies (and maybe even friends) in her quest of carnage. Man this anime kicks [wagon].
  13. Watch what comes next. Mellow was stupid because he would've succeeded L. (L, M, N/ L, Mellow, Near) I finished Death Note. Near is just a douche who pretty much took L's hard-worked-for results and pretty much pinned Light. L found out everything from scratch and just about beat Light, who cheated using Rem. So in the end L won the battle of wits with no help, whilst Light got cornered by L's idea to test the 13 day rule, and executed the final move on L. L left Light with his guard down, and Light's ignorance and over-confidence was his downfall. Plus Mello pretty much completely aided Near's investigation. So it really pissed me off when he said him and Mello suceeded L. If Near was put in L's situation in the beginning Near wouldn't have been able to do it. Actually the 3rd Kira (That lawyer guy) screwed up by killing Takada and Mello in the fire. Because he did that, Near found out he was using the notebook and replaced it with a fake, then Light did something stupid and instead of hitting the deck with everyone else he shouted out "IT'S MY WIN!!!!". What surprised me is that 6 people knew when he was going to die but none bothered to tell him he wasn't going to live long. Ryuk, Rem, 3rd Shinigami guy, Misa, Light's dad, and the Lawyer guy all had the ability to see people's names and death dates. The only ones who actually knew when he was going to die were Ryuk and Rem. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but anyone with the Shinigami eyes can't see the death dates of themselves or anyone else possesing a Death Note. That's how Misa was able to spot Light out of the crowd when he went to that city with his friends and Matsuda. That eliminates anyone with the Shinigami eyes, which is Misa, Mikami (Light's 'apprentice'), and Light's father. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that Shinigami's aren't allowed to disclose the information about a person's death date (including the owner's) to the owner of the Death Note. I'm assuming this would be because they want to persuade the owner into making the deal for the Shinigami eyes. Therefore Ryuk and Rem stayed silent. Plus, Light actually was going to live much longer after being discovered...in jail of course. Hence why Ryuk killed him pre-maturely- he's not a patient guy, that Ryuk. Man I need to re-watch this show...

  15. Unless you plan switching to the Range 2H style, I highly suggest you level to 31 Prayer. At your level, other pures who have 31 Prayer and ~80 Strength will have a max higher than yours by at least 1. This is because, at your level, the 15% boost prayer gives outmatches the extra strength levels you have. Other than that, the combat boost 31 Prayer gives you will give you more pures to fight rather than tanks.
  16. I literally laughed out loud when he said "Boogie, boogie."
  17. No I didn't. Did you know that today is the 1 year anniversary of President Barack Obama's inauguration?
  18. I'd love to see how long your rant would be if you PK'd in P2P.
  19. Thank you so much dude! That second link gave me the stuff I needed. Malwarebytes' wan't openingfor me and after downloading that toolkit I was able to scan my comp. I'm still getting pop-ups telling me about false trojans and whatnot, but after full scan is finished I hope it will be cleared. I can now visit other websties without being redirected, which is good since I have a research project due next month
  20. You wouldn't be able to hit as many people if you weren't blindfolded...kidding obviously It's not smart to eat glue because...
  21. No I didn't. Did you know that money is made out of paper, cotton, and linen?
  22. My computer has become infected with a fake anti-virus program known as 'Malware Defense' (similar to Windows AntiVirus Pro I'm assuming). I keep getting random pop-ups telling me that my computer is infected and that I need to install Malware Defense now in order to protect my computer- I've been fed BS before and I don't like it. Now when I try to open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to remove this virus, it won't open! Even now I'm currently in Safe Mode but it won't open. Whenever I try googling for an answer on how to remove Malware Defense, I always get redirected to another site by the virus. Can someone please direct me as to how I can manually remove this virus from my computer?
