  1. Right, and this is where the filler quests come in to push WGS up to 150. But as we can all see, that isn't what they did, so we know they didn't do that. Make sense? You pretty much just stated the obvious. If that wasn't what you were trying to do, then I would also like to add that it isn't likely that any of said filler quests were near completion when WGS came out and would have created a 49 day jump between quests with the two quests at either end being the very holiday quests that may or may not actually count as 'true' quests (if you don't count them, then the gap would have been over 3 months without WGS in there). Well I was mostly directing it at this: If it seems like I'm stating the obvious, I guess it's because it really is obvious. The premise of this thread is silly because there's really no reason to "pad" the quest list. The primary reason, if there had been one, would be to bump WGS up to be the 150th quest, and they didn't do that. If they were "padding" the quest list, they would have. But they didn't, so they aren't. Bottom line, they're not filler quests, they're just easy quests, because not all quests have to be hard. I do think that new quests should be aimed at high-level players, because those are the players who care most about new quests. But that's a different topic altogether. And anyway, the four quests here have valid reasons for being easy. The holiday ones had to be accessible to all of f2p, which has most of the low levels, and the other two were a means of introducing new content, although it's true they'd have been just as well off as miniquests.

  3. They supposedly have another totally epic one (that was) close to release, but then ran into some technical difficulties a little while before Chosen Commander (which is, as you probably know, the 150th quest when counting holiday 'quests') came out. Yeah, but my point still stands.
  4. Don't you think if they were releasing filler quests to make a specific one #150, they'd have made that 150th quest be While Guthix Sleeps, the totally epic one?
  5. but what if the training your doing in p2p is available to nonmembers? I trained fishing with a fly fishing rod in barbarian village and dropped fish to train my last few levels. I could have been doing that as a free to play. But you also could have been fly fishing west of the Fishing Guild and selling to Rasolo the merchant instead of dropping, and gotten faster experience.
  6. Nah, 12.5m is more than enough, I'm sure. That comes to an average level of 71, which is pretty high for f2p. Either that or they're an ex-member. The average intelligence of the RSOF will probably increase now, since only experienced players from f2p will be able to post.
  7. No, you still lose money making them into potions, you just gain more money through other methods than you lose through training. You can still gain some cash cleaning grimy herbs sometimes, but that's a major pain in the neck and it really shouldn't count. You do raise a valid point, though.
  8. I usually charge a flat rate no matter how long they want the lent item. I'd rather not say "5k/hr" and then have somebody ask to borrow for just 1 hour. Then I either waste time finding another lender when the hour is up, or I only get 5k out of it, which probably doesn't even make up for the time it would take me to lend the darn thing. Charging the trade limit for a fixed amount of time seems like a sensible way to go--adjust the time based on the trade limit or whatever.
  9. I find it rather ridiculous that people are arguing about the best armour to wear while fighting waterfiends. :-s I mean, first off, it's pretty well-established that Karil's is usually the way to go, and second, the question was about the weapon, not the armour. Seriously, folks. #-o
  10. Burning as you chop is easily faster than banking your logs and burning them later. It gets more complicated if you're planning on burning some other type of log for firemaking, like maples or yews, but if you were banking the willows to burn later, you'd definitely be better off burning them on the spot.
  11. So hunt tropical wagtails until I am 29. Switch to swamp lizards and then slowly increase. Can I buy the speciality hunting clothes or do I have to make them? Same for the herb tars, can I buy them? Or do I have to make them with swamp tar, and can I buy that tar? since I can use two bird snares does this mean I can use two net traps? I only have another month to play, so I guess 65 slayer is out of the question along with the others. Thanks. You can buy the camo clothes. You don't need bait, so no point in herb tar. And yes, you'll be able to set two net traps--the multiple trap thing works for all traps except deadfalls, and deadfall traps aren't the best training method anyway.
  12. Summoning isn't worth it yet at your combat. Do some quests and find a way you like to make money, as you'll need lots of it for armor, pots, etc. False, summoning is worth it even at low combat. My advice is to do plenty of quests and train every skill high enough to do all the quests. Quests are absolutely worth doing. And achievement diaries too. If you are a ranger then you especially must do Animal Magnetism for Ava's Device, it picks up your ammo for you.
  13. That's a good way of making money, but it doesn't make herblore any cheaper. How is it not making herblore cheaper? You grow your own herbs, so you're not paying as much per herb, therfor, cheaper herblore training. Wrong, you still pay the same per potion, you're just making more money to cover the cost. You can't shrink a hole in your pocket just by adding more money to replace the cash that falls out.
  14. That's a good way of making money, but it doesn't make herblore any cheaper. so what do u suggest? Just make money however you normally would, and spend some of it on potion ingredients. And if herb farming isn't part of your moneymaking already, why not? It's hella fast cash.
  15. Like most things in Runescape, revenants shouldn't be a big problem if you're prepared. If you use protection from ranged, they can't freeze you, so you can easily run away. Just wear dragonhide for magic defence and none of their ranged attacks will hurt you, and since you're running they won't get you with melee either. So if you pay attenjtion you shouldn't be in any significant danger of dying. As for the chaos elemental, just know that he roams the area west of the Rogue's Castle. Certain teleports will work up to level 30 wilderness, including all dragonstone jewelry with teleport charges, rings of life, pharaoh's sceptres, and grand seed pods. The rest stop at level 20. So bringing an amulet of glory might be a good idea. Also, it could help to know where the safe spots are. Minigame areas are immune to revenants, so the Mage Arena bank, and the lobbies for Stealing Creation, Bounty Hunter, Fist of Guthix, and Clan Wars are good spots to run to. And if you're near scenery like trees or walls, revenants are fairly easy to trap behind that stuff so you can log out and hop worlds.
  16. Yeah, the d axe is worth it.
  17. That's a good way of making money, but it doesn't make herblore any cheaper.
  18. Well with the gauntlets, you stop burning sharks at 94.
  19. The best charms to hunt for are crimson charms. Gold and green give too little xp, and blue charms are too rare. Crimsons are definitely the best bet. The fastest way you could go would probably be to get yourself a good crush weapon, either a Saradomin Sword or Zamorakian Spear, and kill waterfiends in the Ancient Cavern near Baxtorian Falls. You could kill them at your levels if you're prepared with some good food and gear, but a higher prayer would be preferable, and they'd be much easier if you already had 68 summoning to use a bunyip...chances are you could more or less break even on summoning expenses at waterfiends. If you prefer something a little more docile, I'd recommend dust devils. They have nice charm rates, but they're also much lower defense, so the melee xp is loads better, and you don't need any expensive gear or anything...plus they're much more profitable and ought to net you a gain even after the cost of seconds and shards. The Chaos Tunnels are the best place to kill dust devils--consult a map if you haven't been there. Naturally it necessitates further slayer training, which should get you some charms already, and hopefully enough that by the time you can kill dust devils you can have a nice combat familiar at your side. Hunter is fairly simple to train. Switch to swamp lizards when you can, then move up with the highest level salamanders you can catch until you can catch red chinchompas. You can also do falconry or grey chinchompas if you like. There's a good calculator on the RS Wiki for the costs of training herblore: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Potions As for farming, there are four herb patches, plus a fifth that can be accessed after My Arm's Big Adventure. You should farm them all. Use magic secateurs (from Fairy Tale Part 1, do that quest if you haven't) to get a 10% boost in harvest, and supercompost to stop death and further boost the harvest, and you should be able to average 6-7 herbs per patch. Don't worry too much about planting the same herb you're using for potions, because it's easy enough to sell your herbs and buy the ones you want for herblore. Farming is really profitable just buying seeds and selling herbs. Just teleport to each patch regularly to harvest, supercompost, and re-plant. Easy cash.
  20. It belonged to one of the ghosts in the ghostly robes miniquest, Rennard the Thief, who stole the Staff of Armadyl from Valdez, the Saradominist who found the Staff and was on his way to Entrana to deliver it to Saradomin. Rennard was in the shipwreck some time after selling the Staff to Zamorak for jewels and such. You can still find him just outside the boat if you wear the ring. I remember this because that's where I had to go to find that ghost. Anyway, there are two abandoned boats in the Wildy; there's another north of the active volcano in the northeast. You can't go inside it, but you can see it wrecked off the coast pretty clearly.
  21. Both of them are very slow for cash. Monkfish are more efficient, though.
  22. I don't see why Drakan cares so much about Count Draynor in the fictional article. Draynor was exiled from Morytania for cowardice or something, there was a letter in Postbag from the Hedge about him.
  23. Exactly, but all that only applies to members. FTP doesn't earn them a single cent, it COSTS them money. The only reason it's out there is to lure FTPes into PTP. Opening up the forums to FTP isn't gong to improve the game for PTPers, the people they care about, and as such is a bad business decision. Wrong. First, obviously Jagex does care about F2P, they've said so. Second, if a free player doesn't like the game, he/she will not subscribe. By making the free game as fun as possible, free players will enjoy the game more, and if they enjoy the game more, they'll be more likely to want the expansion. Conversely, if the free game sucks, they'll just stop playing because they hate it. You can't get subscriptions just by making the member's game enticing. You have to make the free game worth playing as well.
  24. See, you'd think this, but at the core of any gaming company is the game, and the best way to sell a game is to make it as fun as possible. You can have all the teasing and ads and publicity you want, but if your game sucks, you're not going to have any long-term success. Jagex is a business, and their business is making games. They make their money by making the best damn Java games around. If it's between making a little more money or making the game better, the game needs to win.

I have two pouches' worth of testing that I wrote down somewhere. It's not much, but it's something, right? *rifles through old data* I'm assuming geyser titans and wolpertingers will give more than that, but I can't use them yet, so you'd have to help me out on those. (For reference, if you want xp/hr, the karamthulhu lasts 44 minutes and the spirit cobra lasts 56.)
