Hey I'm going to try the two-Nomads-in-a-row challenge, and I was wondering if I could have some pointers when it comes to gear to bring. Here are my stats: 99 attack 98 strength 93 defence 98 constitution 99 magic 85 ranged 85 prayer 91 summoning 88 herblore I have a chaotic rapier as well as Karil's armor, a fire cape, amulet of fury and some other stuff... Any ideas on what I should bring, or if I could do it at all with my stats (no overloads or ss/turmoil)? Any hints would be much appreciated, but keep in mind I can't afford really expensive gear like Torva, Pernix etc. P.S. Is it possible I could only beat the first Nomad in the special challenge and it would still unlock goliath gloves? P.P.S. Oh, and I don't have dragon claws... but I'd gladly accept donations (or just a borrow)!

Well, here you go, this is one of my outfits... What? You wanted more? What, no! Arrgh, no more pictures!

Good news, everyone! [hide=][/hide] I finally got 500 kills and I claimed a pair of spellcaster and swift gloves. I tested out the spellcasters for about 1 hour (they still only say "slightly degraded" by the way) and I'm going to post what I've found. Well, first of all, here's the stuff I was using against gargoyles: -Fire surge (280 base damage) -Full slayer helm (+15% damage on task) -Arcane Stream (+15% damage) -Ferocious ring (+40 damage) -Magic potion boost (varies) -Spellcaster gloves (not sure of the bonus of course!) -NO staff Please note: when the gloves' "special" activates, it will say so in the chat box along the lines of "Your magic spell surges with power" and/or "Your spell weakens the enemy" Here are a few significant hits I dealt and my calculations: -460 (max splat) at +5 magic level boost... I calculated the bonuses (280*15%*15%*15*+40) and it came out to be ~459, so I'm assuming the gloves did not have an affect here. The "surges with power" message did not pop up so I assume the damage bonus doesn't take effect otherwise -458 damage (non-max splat) at +1 magic level boost... calc'd with (280*15%*15*3%+40) and I got ~421! This time, the message did pop up, so the damage boost seems to be at least 10%! I say at least, because this wasn't a max splat, so I could've hit higher for all I know. I'll keep the info coming and maybe post some more later. But here's my impression on the spellcaster gloves: The special doesn't activate very often, but it's common enough to be worth something. I'm still unsure of how powerful the "stat drain" effect is, and that could be significant. The higher magic bonus than barrows gloves is nice, so it's not necessary to use it without a staff for the specials. I have a theory that these gloves last longer when their special aren't activating compared to when that are, but I have no real basis, just an idea. I also tried using these gloves with a rapier equipped (technically not a staff) but the special effects didn't seem to activate, sadly. They seem to last for a reasonable amount of time seeing as after an hour mine are still only "slightly degraded" but having to run back to the Tower (or teleport up to 3 times a day) would be a hassle, I imagine. Perhaps if we could have more than one pair at a time, I think these would certainly be worth using based on the stats alone!

Arrrgh, please don't give our character a voice! Just make them speak in text for now. I don't want some generic voice given to every single player. If anything, allow us to choose different kinds of voices, but of course that would require a lot of programming and whatnot. -
Holy damn, nice job! So I guess it's official: sporks are the most powerful kitchen utensil in the universe.

02-Nov-2011 - Log-in and Frame-rate Issues
Cheefoo replied to Sir_Squab's topic in General Discussion
Same here. I tried putting my setting on absolute shit level and I still get crappy loading times and FPS ranging in the 10-15 area. Usually I'm not one to care about frames per second, but 10 is rather absurd. I'd kill (virgins this time?) to have a steady 25 at this point. -
Agreed. I don't quite understand why they had the Runefest attendees test Dominion Tower two days before it was to be released. Funny thing is, Jagex got a lot of ideas from their make-shift beta testers, but they had absolutely no time to implement any of the suggestions! One issue that I would really press is the opening cutscenes!! I understand that it's nice to have a dramatic entrance now and again, but every single fight does not need one. I can't imagine how much of my time scaling the Tower was spent watching the introductory scene before a battle commences. I don't need to see Delrith growl at me, Count Draynor taking note of his acute sense of smell, or Solus lying to me about his supposed "magical power" every single time I face them in battle! Shorten the cutscenes, or just give us an option to skip them entirely! Stacking dominion weapons would be nice too. At least let us combine them, as these useless crossbows are taking up tons of space. "Just use them" you say? I wish I could, I'm only 85 ranged, and I'm seriously considering throwing these twiggerdly crossbows in the trash soon. EDIT: Here's a handy way to survive the dream monster endurance test. Monsters seem to make single file lines without much problem. I didn't even try to orchestrate this... they just kinda fell into place by themselves. Then we shall fight in the shadow of a doubt?

That actually looks pretty awesome. How do? -
Whomad? Hemad! Okay, so it was on the special scenario... :-w But yeah! Beat him![/hide] So did that count as having defeated him for the Goliath Gloves? If you simply FIND a boss, but do not kill them, do you unlock them for freestyle? If yes to the above, does killing them in freestyle count? Can all the class A bosses be found in Endurance now? SO MANY QUESTIONS!! 1. I think so, I heard it does. You can check yourself on the unlock screen. 2. I'll have to check, I'm leaning to yes. 3. Nope, freestyle doesn't count, I'm sure of it. 4. I would guess so, but I could be wrong. If Nomad is in, I don't see why not have the others. From my experience, I did face Zenevivia a few times in Endurance, can't confirm for the rest. 5. I know right?

Just minding my own business, doing endurance mode. Floor 9 comes along and... SUDDENLY... RAPE... That was most unexpected! I also met someone at the Dominion Tower bank who had the goliath gloves. He was talking to someone saying that they're "really good for pking". He claims to have hit around 600 with them barehanded, but they only lasted for about 20 minutes! Holy crap, if this is true... I don't know what to think! On one hand, they're really powerful "weapons" that can be reclaimed within a few minutes, and on the other hand... 20 minutes?! I have a theory, maybe they degrade faster if you use the gloves' special effect?

What I did for the Unis was as follows: -Turn on protect from magic and piety as soon as the battle starts -Run behind a pillar, wait for Ayuni (green) to teleport to you -Turn on protect from melee and kill her, keep an eye on your prayer -Once she's dead, get behind the pillar closest to Leuni (red) and make sure to have protect from magic and piety on whenever moving between pillars -Pop in and out of cover and attack Leuni once each time -Wait a second or two behind the pillar so when you expose yourself, Leuni won't react in time to hit you, and you'll only be hit by Eruni (blue) -Continue until Leuni is dead, then proceed to kill the stray demon -Lure the demon behind a pillar to kill it safely, remember to keep your mage protect/piety on when exposed -Once the demon is dead, run up to Eruni and attack her - then repeat the process (with an extra demon each time) until she's dead Using this strategy, it wasn't that difficult. And I reccomend bringing an enhanced excalibur (elite level advised) for healing. Seeing as you can wait behind a pillar as long as you want, you can abuse the EE spec infinitely if you need, however you should have enough food not to need it much. Oh, and if you run into them in climber mode, you better hope you don't have no prayer handicap. Without prayer, you're gonna take a lot more damage.

Well that's not really my problem. Good luck getting into the archive of wisdom. Did I win?

Next time on Player Versus Environment Bear_Grylz77 puts his firemaking skill to the test and tries to light a campfire using some damp logs and a dark bow! Will his barbarian training finally pay off? Then he has to eat kalphite larva RAW for some reason! He might just upchuck, find out next week!

So the spellcaster gloves give you a magic damage bonus if you aren't wielding a staff? That sounds rather counterproductive to me. If it doesn't boost damage any more than 15%, it seems kinda useless. Can someone also check if the damage bonus still works if you're wielding a weapon other than a staff? The swift gloves seem to have gotten the good end of the deal. While melee and magic need you to fight barehanded for their special effects, that's not the case with ranged. I mean, how would you fight barehanded with ranged, don't you need a weapon? Now that I'm thinking about it, there should be unarmed options for range combat. "Spit" and/or "throw pebbles"

#-o The truth comes out... #-o I think it's a little stoopid that Jagex posts about Woox on the home page, while other players can't do so much as post a link to their own Youtube videos on the RSOF. Jagex is just playing favorites or something, and it kinda irks me.
-
lol What else would you call it when people are incessantly whining about how he doesn't deserve it because of using a bug. Blah Blah Blah, omg player getting recognized by Jagex, that player is not me so I am going to go rage at everyone. All I see is jealously and bitterness on the forums from those who believed they were so pro but Jagex recognized someone else. I am talking about RSOF btw, I don't think most of tip.it even cares. I like the idea of Jagex working together with players more, but why Woox? He's already well known enough already, if you're going to give someone a boost in popularity, why waste it on some over rated boss hunter? I guess it coincides with Dominion Tower's release, seeing as he's apparently so great at (exploiting bugs to help in) beating bosses, but it's really just a waste of time. Find us some unrecongized talent, not feeding the ego of some 12 year old bug abuser.

YES! I hated this boss!
-
Ever since Woox said he quit and made a big stink about it, I just lost all interest in him. Of course he didn't quit, he just felt like making a big scene as if he was really important or something. Now he's being yammered about by some Jagex goon who decided to post about him on the home page. Whatever. Woox isn't really all that amazing, he just fights bosses a lot, and does it non-stop until he stumbles upon a good strategy. That's rather impressive in it's own right, but nothing too special. I'm sure there are lots of other talented (and I use that term loosely) boss hunters out there in Runescape who just don't get nearly as much attention. Why? Woox is a drama queen.

Another patch in ~10 minutes. That would be 6:00pm EST and 11:00pm GMT

Uhhh, that was over 10 hours ago. I think it's already been unstickied. I'm still unable to login, as a matter of fact, that system udpate might've caused it. I was able to play yesterday, but not anymore today.

Somebody dropped a pillar on it. Needless to say, it's dead and never coming back. Forget rising from the ashes, phoenix, this is a goddamn pillar we're talking about.
-
Have you tried fighting "unarmed" with the gloves? I remember in the BTS they mentioned something about the gloves giving new unarmed combat options. And just to clarify... you can get the gloves after defeating 5 bosses after first unlocking them? Is it a random chance to get them in the chest, or can you claim them from the giant face? And can you use the Dreadnips and mines outside of Dominion Tower? You say the mine "doesn't work on bosses" and I can't imagine how it could be limited to the tower if it doesn't work on bosses.

He almost sounded offended when the first question to him was "what are the rewards" after his long bout of gushing about the artistic intricacies of the quest. -
line them up I deal with dessous teleports so you want to kill him first. Afterwards I usually deal with fareed second. He's safespotted so I don't need to worry about ice gloves or anything like that Then it's a choice between dealing with kamil or the prayer draining guy. You can range safespot the prayer draining guy so, you don't need to deal with that. Alternatively you can take out kamil first, and try to claw out/steel titan spec out the prayer drainer's second form. I run southeast so Kamil, Fareed, and Damis line up in that order north of me, with Kamil the closest and the rest stuck behind him and to the east of me is Dessous. Sorta like this: (DM) (FR) (KM) (ME)(DS) I pray mage and kill Kamil with melee. Then Fareed move up and I turn on melee pray and kill Dessous. Now at this point, I'm at no risk of dying as long as I have my prayer up. With Damis stuck behind Fareed, I mage him without worrying about his prayer drain. Now, I finish off Fareed with magic, not having to worry about ice gloves because all I'm losing out on is my staff's bonuses. If you have water runes (for Dagannoth Mothers) you might as well use water surge now. Usually I can beat this killer quartet while only using a few unicorn scrolls and one dose of prayer potion.
