Approximate time for slayer to start gaining cash/levels?
Cptbaker08 replied to L0rdAki's topic in Help and Advice
If you enjoy it, why does it matter if it takes you so long to do it? Getting to 99 slayer was something i enjoyed, i never once considered it a chore to do it. And when i did get tired of it i did something else, i would either play some games of Castle Wars or i would play some SC. RS is a game, and it should be played like one. It shouldn't be a chore or homework the way some people are looking at it. Yes you can do some things efficiently, and you can calculate those out such as how much something costs. Some things like making potions or offering bones is limited to how long it takes to do that, and those can't be change because its how the game is. But with combat you can do it slower and still come out with the same exp, it just takes a little longer then if you maxed out the efficiency for it. -
diary: make a barb pyre ship...
Cptbaker08 replied to Kata_Phfract__the_slayer's topic in Help and Advice
Careful though, when you use those bones an angry spirit will start to attack you after you make the pyre. It scared me a little when i got hit and almost died after doing that part of the diary. -
You don't think I did that? No, i didn't think you did. If you did, then i wouldn't think someone would have posted asking for help on a topic that has hundreds of guides about how to kill them. From low to high level tanking and prayer guides, they can be find almost every where. Look at one of those guides. Pick armor thats in your price range and enjoy camping.

Armoured Zombies are good, but every couple mins you'll have to recharge prayer.

It was there all along.

If you have any obby charms, i would use them first. If you plan on doing it right now, then don't worry about it. When i was getting 88-96 summ making lava titans were very cheap xp/gp. And they usually sell on the ge. If you can sell them at mid price, they are 2.11 gp/exp while geysers are 9.72 gp/exp if you buy talis at mid and sell pouches at mid. Also when i did it, i made moss titans after i used up all my obby charms. If you make into the titan's con. scrolls, and ignoring the small exp that gives you, those come out to 5.22 gp/exp. So if you're in some kind of a budget, these options probably wouldn't be that bad to make.

If i still have my Dragon Claws when you plan on doing it, i won't mind lending them out. But thats if i still have them. You'll also have to remind me about it when it comes time.

Well, extremes/overload are uneffected by the berserker curse. In my opinion go for the prayer, then herblore, claws, ranged, etc Sorry for just jumping in the thread, but can anyone confirm that extremes are unaffected by the berserker curse? Never heard of this. Overloads aren't affected as they last for 5 mins then jump back to normal, extremes how ever get lower over time. So yes, beserker does work with exts but not ovls.

The only reason you get low exp/hr is because you play slowly. I can do a big task of black demons in an hour. Greater demons i can do in about 45 mins. And that's with cannoning blacks/ranging greaters. Tbh, if you actually played as much as you post topics half of your goals would be either halfway achieved or actually achieved. -
Heres some tips. Try to team as much as possible, you get 5% more exp per extra team member and you get the floor done faster. Try and kill as many monsters as you can, you can leave the ones at dead ends alive and it won't affect your ending exp all that much, if any. Bind the best spear you can if you melee most of your floors. Try and get someone with high mining/smithing to make you the best spear and keeep it until level 50. You can bind up to 125 arrows/runes. Bind the best arrows you can use and use a bow if you need to. When trying to get team members, its best to either get friends that know what they're doing or those that have reset their floors and are looking to get their lower floors done. Not the best, but it helps some and this is what i have been doing even at my level.

Because most slayer creatures don't have high defence so the extra accuracy from rune defender doesn't do all that much, not to mention you get +15% to attack when wearing black mask. With A DFS you get hit less because of it's amazing defence bonuses, often allowing you to fight with no food at all or with only a bunyip, you get the +7 strength bonus and +10 mage defence bonus, too, whereas rune defenders give +5 strength bonus and -3 mage defence. Most slay creatures also don't hit very hard, so no need for the extra defense it gives. 2 more strength then the defender will only get you 5 more damage max, or 0.5 if you like it that way. The extra accuracy increases the chance that it will hit, the more often you hit the faster you get kills and the less you will get hit resulting in lesser amounts of food needed. With a full slayer helmet you get +10 mage def there, and how many tasks do you need all that much mage def on?

Good idea. But a better one might be to just teleport to varrock, even better if it teleports you to the GE, and take the mining carts down there.
-
My thoughts exactly. Only places a DFS is > the defender is when killing wyverns and dragons. And its only good on dragons if you don't have super anti-fire potions.
-
What i normally do when i solo, and a lot do while rushing, is leave monsters at dead end rooms alive and just kill the rest. I was doing that and was still getting a positive % at the end of the floor.

You should be getting more exp now then back when you first starting. Not only due to having a prestige of 16, but also due to you being able to use complexity 6. The reason it may seem small is that you use to getting all the exp like you have been, and it not being average out as it is now. But yes, this is right. And make sure you do all the floor that you reset on before you start doing any new floors you have unlocked. Do floors 1-16 before continuing to do 17. And you don't have to do them all in order, if you have a friend on floor 5, you can just do floor 5 then and go back to do 1-4 or what ever other floors you haven't done yet.

Bad luck. I got 2 in a task of ~210 few days ago.

When using that against creatures you need magic def, like bloodvelds and others like that, all you really need are the Body and Chaps for the defense. Keeping the rest as offensive items will help you out more, giving you the ability to kill them faster and in return allows less time for the creature to deal damage to you. If the creature uses actualy magic attacks (such as spiritual mages and those infernal mages), and not magic based melee, it would probably be best to use protect from magic on them in prayer gear. Decent pray gear would be the same as your melee gear with either monk robes, initiate plate and legs, or if oyu can get them proselyte plate and legs.

if you wear a spottier cape, it means you can replace other clothing with metal armor and still maintain 0kg. that would help a fair bit. edit: oh wait ardy cape helps with ZMI runecrafting doesn't it? if so keep the ardy cape. It helps by giving extra runes. Seeing as you're doing ZMI, you most likely want more exp and not gp so you should probably change to the spottier cape. If you want gp, either craft natures, or what ever rune is most profitable at your level, or do another form of money making.

I must be missing something, from what level? That seems insanely quick That's 126 hours actually, which is only ~100k xp/hr. Even at 99 hunter I only average 80-90k an hour at chins. Exp rates at lower levels (especially before 80, when you can only use 4 traps) are significantly less. 3 weeks is definitely underestimated. Most people can get it pretty easily in a month and a half though. Thats good, but chins isn't that great unless you're in it for the money. And even then i hear the grenwall spikes are pretty decent money, as well as exp. Then there is also bare-handing those butterfly things, which i hear is good hunter and decent agility exp as well.

If you're not super efficient and bank in only a few seconds, such as using mouse keys to get ess out and load into pouches, then 70 should be fine. I'm only at 70 and i don't think i need any energy restores, but i do like to afk some when i bank so i get more energy back compared to others. You can also take a lot of the damage and wear even more weight reducing gear, or no gear.

So what would be the "right" way? Super/Extreme potions on every task, combat familiar when you can, piety/turmoil every task, have the worst tasks blocked, use Lunar magic for NPC contact or Ferocious Rings/Karamja Gloves 3. Skip tasks that are hard and slow to kill. Also when doing exp/hr for slayer you should include the time to bank and get a new task. But with items such as the Ferocious Rings and Fairy Rings it should be easier to get to the master and to a bank.

You'll need more starting cash, but 3m is what you'll have spent after you sell everything back. Anyone else remember the days of making a profit with cooking :( I remember them, because they are here yet again.

Its not a big mistake if you plan on training slayer any. You get charms from that as well, and once you get higher leveled the slayer:summoning exp is about 1:1. I see no point in grinding something that gives no benefit other than mage exp. It would take A LOT of slayer to get 99 summ purely from slayer tasks. Whatever milks your goat. Getting 1-99 slayer and collecting every charm will easily get you 1-99 summoning. If you're not maxed melees you can kill waterfiends or any other creature thats easy to melee and has decent charm drops. If you're not maxed range you can cannon creatures to get charms to use on summoning. This is getting off topic now. It seems the OP doesn't want to burst/barrage.
