  1. 99 slayer here. I have blocked: 1. steel dragons (too slow, too much competition) 2. kalphites (too much competition - cannoning is fast though! I had them unblocked till 90 slayer) 3. Wyverns (don't like them) 4. Aquanites (too slow, too much of a hassle) I wouldn't block: black demons - excellent experience! You can cannon them easily in members dungeon! I love them! Good charms droppers as well! Warped terror birds: You can cannon these also. Takes a bit of concentration though. Iron dragons: I tank them. With maxed melee, they are not that slow. Black dragons: I just do baby black dragons. Fast AFK experience. greater demons: once the wild dogs become non-aggressive they are an ok task. I mostly even tank ranged them in void. When ranging you can compete quite easily with party crashers. You don't have to run towards your target after all.
  2. They probably have similar feelings towards your opinion. You should never equate your own opinion as special or valuable. Probability states that it is unlikely that it is. This is a general comment. It can be applied to everybody. You must realize that there must be many people around who get tired of people who keep stating the opinion that the system is flawed You are your friends didn't encounter an unfair way or a flaw. The system is the same for everybody and is therefore per definition not unfair. The system is also designed as it is, so that eliminates the existence of some flaw. The whole game is like this really. Did you ever get a dragon shield half drop? I didn't. Highly unfair wouldn't you say? A visage drop? I haven't had one with 99 slayer. Also unfair? No, not really. The drops are based on a system that is the same for everybody. It is just that the outcome is semi-random. It is designed like that. It is also not a flaw. The whole of runescape is made in the way you find unfair. The real problem here is that I think you confuse your opinion with fact. The system isn't flawed and it isn't unfair. The system feels flawed to you. It feels unfair to you. But both statements aren't the same. And your opinion falls in the category of 'feeling' and not 'being' unfair.
  3. 99 slayer here and I never had it as a drop.
  4. there are so many safespots. They get caught easily by walls. You can vary the safespot quite a lot. Just pay attention to other people or experiment a bit.
  5. You live and learn.
  6. Basing the items lost on death on GE prices is also flawed, since GE prices fluctuate. And it is still impossible to do a price check while in combat similar to the impossibility to do a items kept of death check during combat. So what is the reasoning here? Some people's opinions are more important than others? If that is the case than I vote for forgetting the whole debate and just stick with the old system.
  7. I do not PK. If you are doing nothing to help take down the problem, you are a part of the problem. Every time you buy at inflated prices you are part of the problem. Did you stop buying?

What also helps a lot is not to do too many quests. But it is probably already to late for you. Before I raised my Quest points to 275, I got lots more good tasks than afterwards.

That's funny. I dropped a load of bronze arrows the other day because I thought it was complete junk. Didn't even bother to put them in GE. Maybe next time I should.
  10. In a sense I also belong to a category that isn't really affected that much by inflation. My main income was drops from slayer. The prices of the rare drops go up with inflation. In that sense nothing really changes. It's just that you can buy less for the same amount of GP. A problem is when your income is dependent on drops that do not rise or if your income depends on high alching stuff. The high alch price doesn't change. Not so long ago I would get 1.4M for a whip drop. Now it is closer to 4M. The price of consumables and other stuff has gone up, but not more than the income from rare drops. So technically not much has changed. I haven't gotten poorer in the sense that I can afford less. Most of my Gp is tied up in items anyway. I only have 27M spare cash/gp. But now that I have reached my goal of 99 slayer I am willing to look into this matter. Hunting 76kers seems like it has the potential to be a fun activity. But we should really look into getting organized???
  11. Switch to P2P immediately. The bank space is already worth it.
  12. perceived illogical behaviour of a game engine doesn't equal undesirable behaviour. Naturally it is not nice to lose an item highly priced on the GE to an item that isn't, because the game engine has decided that the real value on death is to be determined by the alch price. However, the rule isn't hidden. There is even a way to check the real value of an item and what is kept on death in the interface, which is accessible to everyone. Knowledge of what makes the game tick will give you an advantage, and in this case it is public knowledge. With that in mind there isn't really a problem with the 'item loss on death problem' as such. It is merely a problem of some players temporarily forgetting a public game rule, or not bothering to check up on what items are kept on death, since they assume too much. Is there therefore a problem? Only if we insist that Jagex continues the current trend of making everything easier and eliminating risks., But there seems to be a substantial part of the fanbase who actually objects to this process. In conclusion: there is no problem other than the unwillingness to check real values (that is the one when encountering a death situation), or the fact that people tend to just overlook things or forget about certain things. Have I ever lost valuable items, items that were more valuable on the GE than the ones I kept? Many times. It's part of the game.
  13. Add one 99 slayer. I got it today. :) I guess mining 99 is still pretty rare because it must be boring and not entirely useful.
  14. When I was 85 slayer I was ranking around 5.000. Now that I am almost 99, it is 6000+ Shows that more people have started training slayer since, or that I train slowly compared to the rest. But then again many people stop at 85.
  15. it's best to buy a DFS with spare money, not selling stuff to be able to buy it. It's quite nice though
  16. i've been playing runescape for years now. That certainly makes it one of the best games I ever made. Together with MTW2. Well done Jagex.
  17. What about: You lose your items for 24 hrs when you die. You can pick them up again after 24hrs at the bank collect option. Same as for lending. Semi-safe Pking. There is risk involved: losing your items for 24hrs, and therefore there are risks to PKing. But you will get them back in the end.
  18. I never had any interest in PKing and I played the game for several years.

That can happen yes if you get unlucky. But even if you are lucky it is often difficult to keep up with the healing. I just blocked them.
  20. I do exactly the same thing, except that I just wear Bandos. You still use a minimal amount of prayer pots (depends a bit on luck with your defense).
  21. You can also cannon black demons really well in the members/taverly dungeon. It's not multi there either, but you just stand in a safespot, and the cannon then targets any black demon that isn't engaged in combat with another player. Just run back to the cannon to fill it up once in a while and whoopla. You do a black demon task in no time. Same for black dragons in the chicken lair. You either just see it as a help and engage in melee with one dragon, or you stand somewhere safe and let the cannon target all the free dragons. But as I said, I stopped cannoning black dragons because it is still slow, and doing baby dragons is also nice and fast, and cheap.
  22. I cannoned in the chicken lair as well in the past. It's not that bad. It speeds up the task considerably. It's expensive though. Nowadays I just kill baby black dragons in the chaos tunnels. Much faster. Less of a hassle.
  23. zotto replied to gorgoroth's topic in Help and Advice
Black demons is a nice task for using the cannon. When doing that you can use void range to help the cannon a bit.
  24. typically you will hit max melee well before you hit 99 slayer. In fact, it happened for me when I still had a long long way to go till 99 slayer. Hence a great part of slayer experience is accumulated with maxed melee stats and hence is just as efficient if you would first max out and then do slayer. --------- In reality Slayer is for me a great skill because it does have a lot of variety to offer. You may claim that it is the same tasks all over again, but new tactics become available when your skills are raised or equipped acquired. In fact, I am constantly experimenting on how to do tasks the best way (what I see as best: balance between cost and speed and enjoyment). The experimentation and constant change in method and approach really does make slayer an enjoyable. I'm aware that some people just read a guide and do whatever it says (I can see it for instance at the dark beasts, where everybody applies the same method, but I do not), but the real joy of slayer is actually the constant refinement of methods. Certainly because at one point you can throw in summoning levels, and ranging into the game. I don't see this how this kind of personal development can be present in just grinding a single skill with the same method. In this sense Slayer really can shine, constant evolution of method and approach, although many don't bother.
