i have them blocked. I have 99 for all melees, but only 84 magic. I can keep up with with the healing with a unicorn, but i burn through a lot of scrolls. It's simply not worth it in my opinion. It takes too long, you have to pay attention all the time. Drops are ok'ish, but not great. I have tried several tactics and didn't find a single one satisfactory. And I am not going to use up a lot of prayer pots just to do them. In comparison, I can tank dark beasts with a bunyip and one prayer pot for the entire task (+SGS). I can't do that with aquanites. So I sacrificed my last block to never see aquanites again.

if you don't like barrows armour use d skirt, rune plate. Only use guthans for healing. I walked around in d skirt for a long long time. It means you have to carry guthans in your inventory though leaving you less stuff for loot. I did slayer 80 without guthans (before summoning). It's not really necessary. It just makes life easier, just like a bunyip. I wouldn't really burn 20M on cannoning if I were you. Only do it if you have too much money. Save it for summoning and prayer.

You'd think someone with 98 slayer would know that the ROW sucks. 99 slayer is a longterm project and that is exactly where a ring of wealth is a useful item. Longterm + improving odds.

DFS is great for tanking Iron dragons or dark beasts, and I prefer it at reasonably high hitters such as nechs.

:oops: my bad! To be honest, I never paid for any pot. You get so many herb drops and herb seed drops with slayer that I always have had a surplus of prayer pots, super sets and the like. Don't cannon if you are on a budget. You can easily fire away 300k-400k for a single task. What you really need is a slayer helmet/black mask Rune defender whip some armour (doesn't really matter too much what it is exactly, could as well be rune if you are cheap. Barrows would be better from defensive purposes, guthans is nice if you don't have a bunyip). Fury. Ring of Wealth. D' boots. Void for ranging. Save your money for raising prayer and summoning. Proselyte or monks robes. prayer book (doesn't have to be zammy) dragon fire shield or the other one.

why do you need combat runes? I never used one during slayer.

(cheap comment:) Skill cape can only be worn by 99ers. But yes, I agree. A 99 slayer has earned the right to for instance upgrade their whip or something similarly silly.

And the few occasions I need to tank I still use void. Unless it is something you need to wear facemask, where I will just wear slayer helmet and karils, and DFS. Tanking is all about defense, but if you have 99 def and a little pony you can tank most tasks ranging using void except the obvious such as dark beasts.

In order to be fair now we the combat level of a person should be influenced by what they are carrying in the inventory. AGS vs D long = unfair. Same logic as with superbrews. You can't see what people have in their inventory. Maybe they approach you with a whip, pull out d Claws. I fail to see how these PKers that complained about the superbrews don't see this unfairness. Mage vs Meleer = unfair Should be forbidden also. Anyway, I though PKers only did 76king nowadays.

have you unlocked the mutated bloodveld? Otherwise there is no point cannoning them.

I don't have a firecape, so the trimmed skill cape was more than welcome as a general cape for every day use.

I'm 98 slayer and only have done one steel dragon task ever. That was enough.

I can't believe it. The majority of reactions to the new update were positive on tip.it. That should say enough. The core of players liked the update. I was going to raise my herblore, but not any more. I'm almost 99 slayer. What's the point now if the update is crippled for half the game.

I'm not on lunar and I go to shilo through my house in Karamja and always pick up papayas on my way to shilo. I don't know if it is worth it, but it doesn't cost any effort.

small FML this morning. I was thinking that the Saradomin Godsword (SGS) price was probably at his peak at the moment and probably is going to sink in price. For some reason I put in the minimum price at the GE for the SGS just to check, and I expected it wouldn't buy. And of course: instant buy. I actually didn't even want it. How stupid can you be?

In the end, you pay exactly the same, if not more, as someone who bought everything from the GE. I say more, because there are (currently, but it will change) better things to put your money on in MTK, of instance. Gahtering seconds is also pretty damn stupid, considering it gives no xp. 5-15 hours of TDS, making 40m of a clawy drop and getting some experience along, seems better than getting no xp, and gathering 40m worth of seconds in 80 hours. The problem being that currently you can't buy any supplies, so there is no "paying exactly the same" option. That will only become valid in a few weeks. So why get a head start by doing some herbs yourself right now? You lose some gp income efficiency? It's a game.

Rune defender is the best solution for most situations. That doesn't mean of course that the DFS doesn't have its uses. I use it regularly. Also because it is boring to always equip the same stuff.

There is no rule that says that you have to buy skills. I got 79 herblore so far without buying it. And ironically enough I sold most of my herbs so far. Bit stupid in hindsight. If you want herbs: Start putting 100% on herbs in MTK. There is no competition of other people buying these supplies. Start farming herbs. And pick up herbs for a change. These are herb supplies nobody can touch or compete with. It's going to take time of course, but I'm sure Jagex isn't going to pull the plug on runescape that quickly.

Bollocks. I'm at 72 now and I've still yet to get a decent drop besides a Rune Full Helm. But It does make money, make no mistake. until you get to 85+ where all the good drops are most you'll get are just strings of 25k items within tasks which isn't THAT bad, but personally dont compensate enough. @transcript80, hurry up and get 1 more con level for 70+ all. :lol: I already had 5 rune full helmets in my current task of greater demons and it isn't even finished yet. And 3-5 per task isn't really abnormal. Are you wearing RoW?

I always thought that I would never have a 99 skill. Too much work. Then I started training slayer seriously and at one point my melee skills went above 90. I still thought I would never have a 99 though because lvl 90 isn't that close to 99. One day I decided I wanted a 99 and picked defense. It went suddenly amazingly fast. There it was, an untrimmed defense cape. The other melee 99s came real fast after that. Now I am going for 99 range, although I had a break from slayer for a while now since I am raising my quest points (176-270 in three weeks) so I can do While Guthix sleeps. I'm doing that right now. And I expect that I will get 99 range pretty soon after I start doing slayer again. Especially since I also took some time out to get 88 summoning. So the first one was impossible. The others were dead easy. 99 slayer is really a project that has taken years now. I'm almost 98 now, so I think i will manage to get it. The worst is over. It will be the most difficult 99 I did so far. I'm looking forward though to leveling a non-combat skill in the future. That will be a fresh experience.

The game has become unplayable for me. Every time I teleport or move to a different area (where the game needs loading) my screen freezes. Doesn't matter which browser. :( That makes me unhappy about the new update. Bit selfish but I am only human.

You don't have to do a waterfiend task in one go. I never do. I just go to restock when I finish a single superset (4). With the games necklace it really doesn't take long to restock. It means you don't have to fill your inventory with pouches, prayer pots etc and have more space left for food and drops. They will hit hard no matter what. Even with 99 defense. Sometimes you get more lucky than other times and you can get away with not using range prayer. Sometimes not. But if you break up the task in several legs you usually don't get into problems (when using proper setup and bunyip scrolls for eating raw shark and in urgent cases lobster).
