Limewire shut down
Limewire was basically a virus downloading system. I haven't used it in a long, long time. It does set a bit of a worrying precedent, though. Limewire is used for copyrighted materials! Lets shut it down! Bittorrent is used for copyrighted materials! Lets shut it down! Direct downloading is used for copyright materials! Lets shut it down! The internet is used for copyrighted materials! Lets shut it down...

Tip.It Times - 24th October 2010
I'm glad to see some good discussion this week :) Just a few quick points: Yes, I don't Dungeoneer 'seriously' but I did make it to 76 and I did quite a lot of soloing, teaming with friends and teaming with 117's in the process. I do rushes sometimes but since all the high floors tend to be populated by combat restricting high level groups, I try to join friends for them. I often find '130+' to be a stupid indicator of Dungeoneering ability, but it's true to say that a floor works better when you have people of a similar combat level. So, in theory, it shouldn't matter if the group is all level 3's, level 100's or level 136's - as long as the cb level is consistent. Maybe I should start 100-110 only groups? :P I do think that the technology would need to be improved, setting modifiers like 'rush' and combat level restrictions would be great imo. But if you're looking for just any old team, I don't see why using the autogroup would be such a bad thing. Perhaps even Dung or total level requirements too? (maybe more applicable for lower floors where there may be a greater variation in dg levels).

what would the efect of the world gate oponing?
Not everything has to have heavy serious discussion value, a lighthearted thread is hardly something to get up in arms about like a lot of you have done. I imagine opening the world gate would bring in Stellar Dawn or something, so at the rate Jagex seems to be progressing with it, it's not going to happen in our lifetimes :P

Tip.It Times Writing Contest!
As Tripsis said this isn't a maximum or minimum word count, we just want it to be a guideline base amount to either aim for or exceed. We generally have a minimum of 600+ words for our own articles, but guest articles are lenient on this is there isn't a 'real' guideline. If you want to write more, go ahead! Ts_Stormrage's latest article was something like 2400 words! (Not that I'm expecting ANYTHING of that magnitude! :P)

Bringing Closure To This All?
I've gone through a similar process of falling into social isolation and internet addiction, but it's NOT the internet's fault, it's my own feelings. The internet just enables me to stay isolated IRL and was a haven to a shy, awkward, bullied girl a long time ago... but at 18 it's not such a haven. I'd just wait... in a few years time this won't seem like such a big thing any more. Things that seem so huge, integral and important in your life can change faster than you think. You should focus on your future goals rather than dwelling on the past, because that's what it is. It's hard to write about bad things that happen in the past without making them feel real again, without bringing them back to your conscious and making you think about their 'importance' once again. It just leads to more wallowing and sorrow, look to the future not the past.

Manga/Anime Discussion
Watched Clannad omg <333 I love it. I'm in the process of acquiring After Story now. I've been putting anime episodes on my iPod to watch while going to/from University and it's worked out brilliantly so far :) It's great because I don't feel bad about rarely watching anime while at home on my laptop... I've sorta given up on watching currently airing series, though. My power level just isn't high enough to cope right now :(

Today...
Did my usual 'buying too much stuff that I can't carry but have no choice but to' thing today. It always happens when I ask my mum if there's anything she needs when I go shopping. She only asks for a few things but I end up with like 3 bags regardless... I was shattered having walked home with finger destroying plastic bags. It's getting cold now, though. I've decided to put my dressing gown on rather than the heating. Saving money and being comfy at the same time ^_^ I've gotta go out in an hour and half, though, to pick my brother up from school >.< Oh well.

Combat triangle discussion
Magic is my favourite skill, I love using it in Castle Wars and is by far the most fun out of them all. I want to give Range more of a chance but at my relatively low level it's hard to feel like it's any good... Melee just makes me sad, in a way. It's the style we're almost FORCED into if we want to do Slayer or most things combat related. :(

Today...
Working on my group uni assignment atm, basically answering the question: "[bleep]ing fingerprint scanners, how do they work?" We've got to do a 3k word essay (which we've got all the info for, our doc is 4k words atm, but it needs organising and editing into a proper document instead of a jumble of 3 people's work). And we have a 10 min presentation to do... :s At least we don't get marked on the presentation, that part is for study skills rather than computer architecture. I also have an Operating Systems Procedures test next week, should be easy if I can remember the commands (we're doing unix command line stuff) and a Java test in 2 weeks.

Reveal Confessions, Secrets & Regrets...
Since we're on about movies & such... I call myself a Trekkie but I've never watched any of the Original Series, though I do know the characters of course. :x I've also only seen about 3/6 of the Star Wars movies... Episodes 1, 3 and 4. I really need to watch more of them :(

This Rule Makes No Sense, Honestly
We listen to outside opinions, but an outside opinion isn't always right and your opinion seems to be... hmm, it seems I kind of got distracted by the pointless debating and don't know what your original point was anymore. Was it that we should allow foreign languages, making an already difficult job of moderation even moreso? And we don't act surprised, if you think this is surprised then you have a poor grasp of emotions. And I'd like to think that the Moderator Spotlight and recent Administrator Spotlight gave plenty of transparency, as is appropriate, to what members need to know. The rule that we currently have is both reasonable and rather well suited to how we operate. It's balanced, fair and not a big deal - I think this is easy enough to see without 'transparency'.

This Rule Makes No Sense, Honestly
But 1.) How many people would know and 2.) Why would it matter. It doesn't matter how many people would know, the fact is that they WOULD know. And it does matter because posting in another language doesn't mean you can suddenly start breaking rules on language or insults. Way to ignore my point again. If I alone know it doesn't matter whether or not I post it, since I would still be award of what I would have posted. In other words, your argument is moot. And still, why would it matter? Your argument is based ONLY on the "Rules are rules, no matter what, cuz otherwise you are challenging my authority" stance. If no one in insulted, no one is hurt, and there is no harm-no foul. So I ask again, que el demonios does it matter? I sure as heck wouldn't be insulted if I couldn't understand the insult. However, then comes the intent portion of interpreting. That is another matter, however we aren't talking about that either. Also, you used another straw man. That wasn't the OP's point. He was asking, rather, why a translation was unequivocal needed. You seem to have assumed that he was going to be only using different languages to swear... As such, both your responses are illogical, and as such are moot. Actually, my arguments are based in the rule that we don't allow flaming or harassment to our users - do a really need to justify this rule to you? A user posting in another language MAY be using that as a way of attacking users or bypassing the censor on words that we have here. There is a precedent for it, it's happened before with a user and it took a while to be figured out because nobody on the moderation team could read that language. It wasn't very long ago that we went through a detailed look at our policy on foreign languages. We decided that rather than banning them completely, we should ask for a translation so that we know what's being said isn't against our rules. It's a reasonable policy, we don't disallow them outright - we just want to keep things accessible for moderators and users.
