  1. The fastest (also one of the best) method of training ranged is still chinning, with void deflector, range top, ranged accuracy boosting gear & soul wars cape. Pray rigour & use xrange pots. If you can, steel titan adds a good bit of xp/hr, cannon adds a lot too but is expensive. I wouldn't recommend hunting chins for money, that would take very long. Try farming or dragon hunting instead. If you hunt dragons with ranged + cannon, you'll knock out two birds with one stone.

Even though the skill is called firemaking, it also involves fire-using more and more (hand cannon, Circus performance etc.) and there is no reason it won't in the future as well. An argument based on the name of the skill perhaps isn't the best one. Firemaking could be useful in siegework or maybe mining (with explosives), but what it should really do is make your level-up fireworks more amazing .
  3. Locking this - you have a similar thread here and other threads on the Runespan here and here. If you want to ask multiple questions or follow-up questions, please just post on your existing thread. Thank you.

It seems that factors such as bonus rooms, complexity, floor size and number of party members are factored in twice, once in the base+prestige xp and once in the modifier.
  5. Whatever you do, don't chin bandits or moss giants! The fastest way would be chinning monkey skeletons in void deflector - if you can get eagle eye, that'd help too. If you want to make a bit of money, use a crossbow with strong bolts & cannon on some kind of dragon and bank hides&bones. For ranged, there are only a few factors that affect your damage output: Your level (including potions), The prayer you're using (5-20%), Whether you have a void set equipped or not (void set is twice 10% boost to damage) and The ammo you are using (ranged strength) - only ammo has a ranged strength value at all. Total ranged attack bonus matters a little bit as well. Basically, try to get these as high as possible, the highest priority equipment-wise is void.
  6. Well, I consider those a side purpose because the items they generate are not or barely worth the time it takes to bank them/sell them on the GE. Fruit bats are the exception when it comes to grenwall hunting, I suppose, even if it's more healing than a bunyip. Every other familiar is basically useless (e.g. spawning cheese or spider eggs is low gp/hr) or not the main purpose (granite lobsters).
  7. Mystic might. And protect magic of course. The most common idea is that magic defence is 30% defence level and 70% magic level but I've also heard that defence doesn't matter in mage stakes, which would indicate magic level the only factor.
  8. Maul + uni isn't very efficient, maul + yak could be but requires torva, so yeah, maul is out. And yes the method would involve dfs, I don't think goliaths would be great with defender (compared to maul). But I'm also not sure goliaths beat cls, so... Off task, consider using void + dfs + cls.
  9. It's an alright way of training magic I guess? But that'd require you to use something other than a polypore staff because that's just horrible xp :P. Money-wise I'd sooner recommend hunting dragons with ranged + cannon.
  10. Put up five traps, four on the corners of a 3x3 area and one in the middle (or any arrangement, but within a 3x3 square and reasonably spread out). It's important to move on top of a trap before retrieving it. Don't just click "check", first click "move here" and click "check" when you've started moving. Instead of the typical arrangement, you can put four traps around a single chin spawn, try to catch that one spawn and if you don't kill it with a long-ranged weapon and wait for the next spawn. As always, hunter familiars (arctic bear is only a little way off from your current summoning level), camouflage and scentless potions will increase catch rates, though the potions may not be worth it.
  11. Music stuff: [hide] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyGivD8aJi4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY&ob=av3e http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL3dNfxcpnw[/hide] Probably some language in there somewhere.
  12. ...Oh right. I thought lunge was controlled. That's longswords on lunge :P.
  13. LS/CS is not great, FFA is great if you have significantly better equipment (only person with dreadnips/overloads/turmoil, or the only person with goliaths/steads/imbued/kiln cape/comp cape). But corp is great if you're low summoning, because you won't use a familiar and get decent charms. If you're 99 summoning, both glacors and tormented demons should be better, and Nex.
  14. There's one way to make 'lots' of gp using skills if you don't want to farm, that is hunting grenwalls with the best hunter aura, scentless potions and a fruit bat.
  15. I like overloads because you won't forget to repot, but that's hardly a reason to get them. At your stats you won't unlock anything new, however you'll get better at every boss of course.
  16. Dharok max of 1200+ only applies with salve I thought? Though that was pre-kiln cape, but still. Edit: tip.it calc gives 1155 @ 1/990 lp, 1321 with salve. Rapier is 622/710. So Dharok is still a bit better.
  17. Accuracy would do little, also because a good bit of your dps is independant of accuracy (the base 80 damage per surge). The dark magic aura doesn't help much either. Equilibrium might work well though, with the high max hits you could save some on overkill, and you get guaranteed 1-hit kills on the unstable (you already have that if you use SoA of course). Reverence restores about 49 extra points per dose, using about 50 doses per hour? so ~2500 points per hour, if you take more than 12500 damage per hour penance would restore more, plus 1 damage per 4 prayer you use per hour (1 damage = .2 penance restore - t2 reverence slows drain by 5% equalling .2 points per 4 used).
  18. It's 219 vs. 179 ranged strength ((82+62)*1.5 vs. 115+64, roughly corresponds to dps). So about 22% higher dps, cannon of course does a lot of work but it should be about 10% better kph. I don't know how kxbow compares, but 41 extra ranged attack for the rune crossbow.
  19. Hi, no scape = no blog :/. Don't think so. Only ~70m xp to go :P.
  20. Dragonbane bolts with void deflector all the way.
  21. Kiln was 6m/hr or so last I checked, so that's probably a good moneymaker. And welcome back :).
  22. Moved to Data&Research :). To answer your question, it's not underrated. Given four binds, the rapier is simply never worth it.
  23. You should be magic/ranged hybrid with that strength level, polypore/barrage/some ranged weapon. Zerkers are 45 def mostly because of vengeance & void afaik. Not because of berserker helmets, that's just a rounding issue, 42 def works as well.
