  1. That's the only thing why some people should look into buying bandos/dragon armor again. But the Torva armor's extra lp boost and defence does open more doors like easier monster hunting, massive pking, and the like. But you shouldn't overlook the benefits of Torva armor regardless if it degrades. Some of the best items in the game degrade and I wouldn't want to put down my barrows armor in favor of dragon just to save some GP  Haha, I know generally barrows is better or as good as bandos, it's not that I think degrading costs a lot (Though it might be more with Torva), it's more of an ocd thing especially if I don't use all pieces all the time and they're at different stages of degradation. And I realize Torva isn't useless and will help people with certain activities, but all I do on rs is slay and skill so it has absolutely no use to me.
  2. I think his complaint comes from the fact that viruses contain bits of DNA/RNA that they use to override the host cell's genetic structure, allowing them to reproduce. Poison on the other hand is much more general in that it's a substance that disturbs biological functions, but usually on a molecular rather than cellular level. This is getting very off-topic though, and I do think that the latin origin of virus meaning (Roughly) poison does help to bridge the gap of meaning in this context. Besides, it's not like rs is known for its realistic ways to solve poisoning, I mean we have 1 generic cure for EVERY poison (Not including 'disease') in the game. OT: Yeah, Torva isn't gonna replace my bandos anytime soon. Not a big fan of degrading armor (The reason I got bandos in the first place), it has the same str boost, and it's not like I need the extra lp or def while slaying.
  3. Same, and I can also confirm the gloves don't work because they don't degrade.
  4. Well of course it does, you seem to imply this is silly. Baring in mind the article is talking about competing as a Progamer in Street Fighter, why would you enter a competition where you didn't want to be the best there? The article doesn't translate well into RuneScape. Because: For somebody to be scrubbing, a game must have a metagame to speak of. Otherwise, the scrubbing isn't scrubbing, it's just whining.RuneScape has no metagame (broadly speaking, some exception in proper PKing). If you think scrubbing is when somebody is adamant on finishing a 5:5 small with full Fractite, then you clearly haven't understand the concept at all. It's completely different. This is why the article doesn't apply to runescape very well: runescape doesn't have to be a competition. Like Dan pointed out, runescape is a lot more diverse than 1v1 fighting with no objective other than defeating the other person; how does a goal of completing all the quests apply directly to competition as per this article? It doesn't, not very well. There are certain aspects like pking where this mindset is found, but I stay away from those facets of the game and still have an enjoyable time. I can understand the author not wanting the scrubing attitude to spread so that the tournament style fighting remains top tier, but that hardly has to apply here. I'm agreeing with you, and I don't find the mindset silly as you seem to believe, just not applicable in the gaming culture we've developed here for the most part.
  5. ...What civilization spoke Latin? Don't get me wrong, it adds a nice touch to the atmosphere and gives a sense of antiquity (Reminds me of the inscription in Dante's Inferno "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate" above the gates to hell), but other languages in the world have never been brought up before (Dwarves and Elfs never had the need to translate and all seem quite fluent in whatever language the server is on), much less one that ACTUALLY exists. I remember speculation about Zaros when Temple at Sennisten was released that the "Empty Lord" referred to a pragmatic empire rather than an ideological one, much like the Roman Empire, and if that's the case it would make an interesting connection...but this is still gonna take A LOT of explaining for me to swallow. I know this is probably just decoration, but it brings up a whole can of worms that has really gone unspoken up until now.
  6. The article seemed to assume that everyone wants to play to be skilled, to win no matter what, and always be the best and limiting yourself to certain methods only brings you down. While I can respect and in some cases admire that mindset, which allows for solutions that don't readily present themselves otherwise, not everyone has the goal of becoming a professional gamer and so don't need to have their definition of how games should be played changed. Is he right for people who want to win? Yes. Does that apply to every game and every person? No.
  7. What I did was super attacks till 84 (Kept some for extremes later, you'll have to stew if you want to do this), spec rests till 85, and then 1k super antifires (Seconds are hell to get) and continued making spec rests till 88. That's all because I can't stand stewing, but you're better off that way.
  8. Because the slower attack speed makes switching easier.
  9. You cannot talk about using the GS in any situation, then immediately redefine the situation as being only Saradomin GWD. I don't care about the GWD, because that's irrelevant to lower-middle level players who we've been discussing. Far from there being "no reason" why a player would own a ZGS if they don't plan on doing Sara GWD, there are literally thousands of reasons why a player may want to own the ZGS. Any combat training on any creature in the game (save the wildy) is fair game. You CAN train on any monster with a ZGS, and someone may want to, but there will ALWAYS be superior alternatives to gs while combat training, and they are second tier at best at most bosses. What we are discussing is situations where gs are the best choice, or among many roughly equal choices during different activities; just saying someone CAN use a godsword for something does nothing to prove its usefulness: you CAN solo the Corporeal Beast with a bronze spear, that doesn't mean it's useful there. You still don't get the situation we're talking about. Sara GS has decent enough stats to train against most creatures in the game, and the reason one may choose to use it would be to get the most out of the extra prayer and LP the special would give. There isn't any need to any of this, none of this is necessary, but it's an excellent way to recover health for free while training combat skills. The extra prayer is just a very nice bonus to use while training, further lengthening the time of each session, and reducing the need to bank at all. Since you mentioned prayer pots, why not! If you've got a high enough prayer level where it's more efficient to stock up on some prayer pots instead of a few slots of food, then go for it. You obviously still don't get it: SGS is a terrible primary weapon to train with compared to even a whip and rune def + dds spec, you can get more use out of the spec bar than a chance at getting more LP and prayer, it's a subpar way to recover health and pray, and generally getting faster kills is better than lasting for a longer time period (Lasting longer doesn't mean getting more kills inherently). Relative worth is defined by your values, if you value experience over money then they a certain one may be worth it to you, or may not be. Needless to say that's a personal decision. I never talked about "accuracy" or "claimed" anything. Where you referring to someone else, or what did you mean? You should never need a Godsword in any situation ever. However there are tons, and tons of situations where they are useful, and fit the bill nicely. The special attacks make some basic leveling easier, and can make grinding that much more painless. Your values are your own, and at higher levels in RS the Godswords should become obsolete. It's probably fair to assume you've hit this point eh? Useless doesn't mean worthless, there are many things of sentimental or non-intrinsic value that people carry, both in rs and in life in general. But that's not what we're discussing here. We are here to talk evidence, numbers, gps, and where gs can be as effective as other weapons in other combat situations.
  10. Be warned that there was a glitch that if you killed Jad with a claw spec you would not receive your bonus slayer exp, not sure if it has been fixed. Source: http://forum.tip.it/topic/282148-fight-caves-melee/
  11. Barraging will get you charms and mage exp faster at around the same gp/exp.
  12. I lol'd Ummm, what are you asking? What would make them better? Making them 1-handed and giving them a faster attack speed, and balance it by lowering their stats somewhat...oh wait... Oh, you are insinuating chaotic weapons, aren't you ? :P Now that was subtle. Whip, CR, CLS; all of them are better in almost any situation because the faster attack speed means more dps and the use of the offhand slot gives even more bonuses. Really the only situation I can think of where gs are useful is pking with an ags as both the primary and spec weapon, but that's pretty limited.

  14. You need to stay hydrated to survive, you don't need a rune platebody to survive! If we're talking about basic needs coca cola is probably farther down on the list than a rune platebody  If you're emotionally invested in something because you spent time/money/effort getting it, whether it's a physical object or a "virtual" object, it can be significant to you. Some are emotionally invested in their characters and avatars, and others aren't, and neither one of those choices is inherently better than the other.
  15. Responses bolded.
  16. The difficulty is all about stats, much to our collective deception. Personally I love the new gravestone, reminds me of LoTR dwarfish masonry.
  17. When I no longer get 7 dollars of enjoyment out of it per month. Considering that's less than a solo movie visit that's a pretty low bar :P .
  18. As everyone else is saying now's the time you should switch to slayer to train combat; quest a lot too.
  19. As long as an item can be dropped instead of destroyed, it has to be re-obtained the same way you originally got it.
  20. As long as we're telling him better ways to train instead of answering his question, get 90 attack and str at least before 99 def, it'll really help decrease the amount of time you spend training since def doesn't really increase exp/hr.
  21. Because you'll be getting massive accuracy boosts with a salve ammy and piety (If you don't use both of these train elsewhere, or slay) go with the saradomin sword.
  22. Nothing; you can't have a second golden age. As for what I'm going to do when old wildy and free trade is implemented is stay the hell away from the wildy and continue slaying like before.
  23. Do you have the charms, or will you have to kill to get them? If you already have all the charms and just need to buy stuff and imbue pouches get 80 summoning. If you have to get the charms, and even if you burst for them I'd say get the defender first.

929320(Total exp)/50750(Total exp each hammer lasts)=18.111, so 19 hammers rounding up.

For quest items if they have a destroy option you can usually reobtain them if they're vital to something, so get rid of those. I'd sell all seeds and just farm one kind for each patch (ie only have snap seeds for herbs, maple for trees, etc). If you're having this much trouble then just drop/sell everything you don't use and can reobtain easily.
