Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
Well let me take a closer look at my DPS calculations. assuming both the longsword and the rapier are hitting 50% of the time or less, because that's the where the CLS starts getting good assuming good offensive gear and stats. in such a scenario, the rapier is still better or equal, depending on if you're using a salve/slayer or not. but it doesn't make a huge difference. Since, DPS more or less scales linearly with attack once you fall below 50% accuracy. As does strength, at high max hit. It also happens, that at 50% or lower accuracy, DPS also scales roughly linearly with the target's maximum defense roll. So if the target's stab defense is equal to its slash. Rapier on stab equals the CLS on slash. If the target's stab defense is 5% higher than its slash, then CLS is 5% better than rapier on stab If the target's stab defense is 9% higher than its slash, then CLS is 9% better dps rapier on stab if target's stab defense is 10% higher than its slash, then youve reached the critical point and you're better off using the rapier on slash. (~9% is the critical point) Afterwards, regardless of how much higher the target's stab defense is than its slash, the CLS is 9% better than a rapier on slash. But you have to realize, the opposite is true and unbounded. If the target is 5% weaker to stab than slash, then the rapier is 5% better than the cls. and the critical point is 8%, before the CLS user should switch over to stab. but that's just some info for you to consider. but I think you're really misguided to use observational standpoints to judge the effectiveness of a weapon. Qeltar claimed to have shown that a warrior ring was better than a berserker ring in many locations. Where as if you look dice roll DPS systems, a 5% accuracy boost NEVER results in 5% higher dps than a berserker ring. People play differently when they like/dislike the item they're using. Objectively, I can't see many places where the CLS would be substantially better. Definitely not enough places to justify getting a CLS just for those location. page 43-44 of this thread

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
Cool. I'll bring my dds to GWD next time instead of my Godsword. It's faster. You are being WAY to general, and are not even considering any scenario, just making an overall description. Yes, it has more speed, and that makes it better--USUALLY. This thread is all about debating the trade-off of the Rapier and what benefits the CLS may have that make it superior. I've stated my view already, which is the fact that at maxed boss hunting stats (max melee, 99 mage, 99 sum, 95 prayer, overloads) the CLS offers effectiveness in more places that the Rapier does, and because you are so efficient at boss hunting already, the Rapier vs Longsword difference, in and of itself, makes very little impact by itself in the cases in which the Rapier IS superior. Just saying that something is better, providing unanalyzed information everyone knows, and expecting everyone to accept it as a divine truth is arrogant and incendiary, given the huge amount of effort and thinking everyone else has put into this thread. I thought I already showed that if a target has equal slash or less slash defense than stab, then even if the defense is insanely, high, the rapier is better with close to max gear/stats I'd say that's a pretty overwhelming conclusion.

Efficiency
Efficiency is a subjective word. Efficiency helps you figure out how to get what you want. what you want, is subjective, thus efficiency is subjective. Obviously you want to have fun. So if you define efficiency solely to be the best way to gain the best ratio of gp/xp for your time then you're a moron. the only reason fun isn't factored into efficiency calculations, is because it's subjective. Making a spreadsheet assuming that someone has X amount of fun training Y skill is stupid. It's like assuming that your target audience likes eating 5 apples equally as much as 3 strawberries. it's stupid, and doesn't get you any meaningful results. We just choose to ignore it because factoring fun into equations is impossible to do. If you're not having fun training "efficiently". You're doing it wrong

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
would make rcing tolerable imo This is true. Would almost triple the xp doing double natures. Which would bring 91rc up to 2m/h profit. Kind of insane. Until the market becomes oversaturated with nature runes that is. Planting it at a boss would be interesting. You could bypass the kc req at the gwd doing that as well. hmmm...... To bad everyone voted for new weapons and armor in the poll jagex did. runecrafting would become a buyable skill, and would start might end up costing as much money to train, as say, smithing. And then runecrafters would have something else to cry about. Ultimately, profitability tends to be inversely proportional to tolerability.

Menagerie - What 15 Pets?
I have a friend with 15 dragons. It's not a bad idea to consider themes if you're filling your menagerie for aesthetic reasons. I also keep a platypus in my menagerie, as some monsters (not all) cannot walk through a platypus, making it a mobile ranging safespot. I've already sent jagex 3+ bug reports about it over the course of the last 3 years, and they never did anything about it, so I guess it might not actually be considered a bug? It looks pretty cool if you can manage to pull it off.

21-Sept-10 Gunnar's Ground
the festival starts today right? anything interesting about it?

Chasin rats with your cat/kitten
yes, it is, you need to get a wily. Kittens fail to catch mice most of the time. A wily cat will never fail, unless something is blocking the path between it and the nearest mouse.

Training hunter?
i cap at around 80k hunter xp/hour with grenwalls. there are multiple butterfly spawns all over the place, so that isnt really a problem. barehanded butterflies are great xp, 80k-140k hunter xp/hour depending on lvl and butterflies being hunted.

Is Magic Longbow (S) Overlooked?
those arrows are obscenely expensive, considering they are destroyed once fired. You might as well get a chaotic crossbow with some expensive ammo if you're going to spend that much money.
-
Barehanded butterfly is it good?
i get around 100k hunter xp/hour with snowy knights I tried potting black warlocks, and got 100k hunter xp/hour as well, even though i had to repot every minute. they say it can go up to 140k hunter xp/hour at high levels though, which I find believable. definitely kicks the rear out of all other methods.

Extreme potions: cheaper than normal ones?
yeah, nobody told u to do that, ur just stereotyping now :P The point of opportunity cost isn't to tell you to do the most efficient method of training all the time. The term opportunity cost exists to emphasize the fact that the value of your time one day, might be different from the value of your time another day. Lets say you just finished an REALLY hard exam at school. And your brain is totally wasted. So while, normally you can kick tormented demon rear for epic cash. You're not in a state to kick tormented demon rear, therefore you don't pay the opportunity cost because you are too tired. Maybe you're in a really good mood for training slayer. if you don't train slayer, you pay the opportunity cost of training slayer while you're actually in the mood for training slayer. Which is undeniably more efficient than training slayer while not being in the mood. Opportunity cost is not a constant number.

Does Ext range pots affect the cannon?
rs wiki says: interpret as you may, I personally don't care enough to test it myself :P brings up the interesting question of whether or not void > armadyl if ur cannoning :P

So I guess i'm an impulse dungeoneering points user.
ballpark guess: I'd burn anything under ~5k, I personally run multiple tiles to loot 19k gp frost dragon bones. wouldn't make sense to sense for me to burn anything worth 10k+ gp, since I can always time my movement and looting to not interrupt my combat in slayer/combat in general. it'd probably take me a lot less time to pick up say, 4 random 5k gp herbs, than to kill a frost dragon and then run over and loot its bones.

Extreme potions: cheaper than normal ones?
you're not supposed to base the value of your time on the value of the activity you're doing. You're supposed to it on what other stuff you could be doing with your time. Hence this concept is called opportunity cost Anyways I hope you don't base your overall opinion of efficiency on a few trolls. It's obvious to you, but knowing you, you've probably done more efficiency calculates so far then over a hundred average scapers. It's not exactly trivial to everybody.
-
Extreme potions: cheaper than normal ones?
He did prove something though. He proved that extreme potions are in fact more cost effective by setting a lower bound of their usefulness. It might not be a very useful proof, but it is a proof. It's a nice rule of thumb that's probably better for the help and advice section. If you're asking him to prove it while factoring in time/income, then you're asking for a mathematical proof that is significantly less trivial. Then you need to factor in how often you drink the potion, as that would be a function of income. Which would in turn affect how many potions you drink per hour, etc. In the end it's a complete pain in the ass calculation that is wholly unnecessary due to simpler proof he has already provided. Would you go through the trouble of calculating something like that xpx? I sure wouldn't. It's just unreasonable.

Barbarian Potions
I got 85-99 herblore off barbarian mixes and earned a huge profit along the way. the profit isn't as good as it used to be, and sometimes the profit isnt even there. but there are a few tricks. You can always loan items to sell off a little of your junk. But the best way to sell barbarian potions is to anticipate when buyouts are going to occur. I spammed tons of ranging mixes(2) prior to the pvp update because i knew ranging potions would be bought up once the pvp worlds came out. And it paid off because players are willing to buy mixes if the normal potions are sold out.

Full arma or void + acp?
yes it would.
-
Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
then you have no proof, as math only math can "prove" anything. Everything else, including science, can only provide confidence intervals.
-
Full arma or void + acp?
So no matter what the monster's def might be and no matter what your accuracy is against that monster it's always better to use the deflector + acp? Thanks, I guess my question has been answered. :shades: I think that was with a chaotic crossbow, though. Hence the 'maxed' term. no, it was with a rune crossbow. I meant maxed in terms of armor

Why does Jagex make such a big fuss about bank space?
I trimmed everything useless out of my bank and found myself with 200+ free spaces, even though i still stock one of every ore, log, herb, potion, etc. The bank is definitely enough to get by with. People just tend to have too much other junk that they may or may not actually need. Honestly, the biggest bank killers are effigies, brawlers, and Clue scroll costumes, and things of that like. and that can be fixed efficiently by implementing items like the fishing tacklebox where many items can be stored within a single item. (cluescroll costume box anyone?) Potions are a big bank killer too if you stock (1), (2), (3), and (4)'s of all your potions.

Most efficient: walking or resting?
Running speed is exactly 2x walking speed in most cases. Walking means your character moves 1 tile per game tick. When you run, your character runs, your character "teleports" 2 tiles away. (as there is no such thing as half a game tick) What was your agility level when you took that data though?
