Thing is, I think they really do try. But they have to direct the stories so they're ended in the way that allows them to continue with the creative department's overreaching goal. It's tough and its lead to some pretty unsatisfying moments when they have to justify some of the shinier tools made by the more technical departments, like Salt in the Wound, but there you go. :/
