  1. Ya, assuming the box has the same damage bonus on the wave/surge box, it would be the ideal item to bring to DK's (since it would save you 3 Inventory Spots, and do a little extra damage).
  2. I came into this thread earlier, and was against people who promote "efficiency", for the wrong reasons. After watching the bickering back and forth, I think efficiency and inefficiency are still being used in stereotypical views. Every person on on this game, is not efficient nor are they inefficient. Efficiency in a game is simply a view of how personal progress is based on another. Rather than saying someone is efficient, or inefficient, I think a more fair judgment would be to say that everyone here is proficient at completing the goals they set before them. You have to remember that each person's goals are not always other players goals. Some players have goals for themselves, which might be to make sure no time is used without gaining some sort of XP benefit in the long run. Some players have goals to play clan wars as much as possible. Some players have goals to dance with friends around the G.E. as much as possible. It is important never to expect your goals to be the same goals of another individual. You cannot expect someone else to play the same way as you. When I joined this argument, I felt like all "efficient" players were elitist and only cared about the best possible outcome for every single scenario, and had no care about if the slower options from A to Z yielded more enjoyment simply because it was slower. I now see that this was a misleading stereotype, and not all "proficient players with higher set goals" are elitist like this. In fact, It appears that even in some cases the "proficient players with lower goals" can be just as elitist about some situations as the opposite side of the table. So I guess what I'm saying is, don't hold people who expect others to play like them in a category of "efficient or inefficient" but rather simply put them in a entire category of their own of "elitist". That being said, to any people who thing your playing style entitles you to tell other people how to play the game if they don't ask your opinion on a topic, you can just log off for all I care. This song is for you:
  3. I removed all the names for privacy issues, but it happens all the time. I don't care how efficient/inefficient someone is but elitism is just [cabbage]. (See below for quoted example) SO?!?!? I agree, I really didn't like the "noobs wear the funnies things" post in the first place, and I find no reason to flame someone because they either dont want to take the time to get barrows gloves, or have the skill / take the time to get fire cape. Im 112 cbt, and still havnt bothered to try for fire cape. It really irks me when people rag on others for not having the best / top-line gear :P I'm not saying he has to have the "best/top line gear" but for cheaper than the cost of all the gear hes using now he could get waaaaaaay more efficient armor. Do an easy quest to get a nezzy, sell tassets for verac skirt and a barrows torso at least and buy at least an obby shield. and tbh a 129 that doesnt have at least rune gloves kinda fails tbh
  4. I think this is WAY to big of a generalization. You can't really say that because I bind x and y item instead of y and z item that I work any less hard to offer services to my team's support. I may not rush floors, but when I play with a team of friends I work just as hard regardless if I rush or don't. Like you said, people work at what they are good at. An inefficient person may fill a gap that a efficient person cant. Now if you said the team may not progress as fast with some players who don't play at the highest efficiency, that may be true. But to say someone is "sucky" at team play just cause they are inefficient is just silly. @XPX Nobody really "forces" anyone to do anything in this game. However, watch the pictures and help & advice threads for awhile and you will constantly see people who endorse "efficiency" hound people for not doing something "x" way because it's inefficient. Its almost every week we have a new thread on this forum saying 1000 reasons why x is better than y. It may be generalizing on elitism, nor am I saying efficiency is "bad", but I don't see people on the opposite end of the spectrum making posts like that towards people who are efficient. Efficiency is just like religion. Everyone thinks they have the best view on it, everyone else who has opposite views is wrong, and anyone who tells you what to think is wrong.
  5. Efficiency isn't really a problem, per-say. The problem is that people often get so wrapped up in their goals (and face it, we all do at some point), that they forget that their goals are THEIR goals, and not the goals of everyone else. My friend likes to train slayer, he uses Bandos, Turmoil on most tasks, Defender, Cannon, and overloads. He likes to slay to get the most XP/Hr. I like to slay with Range, normally using Broad Bolts or Steel arrows, and don't bother potting/praying. Any time he talks about slayer to me he chastises me for training it the way I do. The issue I have with Efficiency, is that the people assume that their goals are also everyone else's goals. My friend cannot understand why I train slayer the way I do, because the xp/hr is so un-efficient to him. I can't understand why he trains the way he does. I feel this thought goes along the same theme with everyone else on this forum, and this game. People need to understand that their own personal goals, regardless if it is to play everything as fast as possible, or to have as much overall fun as possible; are just that, PERSONAL goals. I can't tell someone who likes to get 100k dungeon XP an hour that they are doing it wrong, but they shouldn't be telling me that I have to play that way either. Both sides are guilty of starting the Efficiency debates on these forums, and it really needs to stop.
  6. 1) I don't think it's dull at all. I actually enjoy it. (As long as i'm not rushing) 2) I said I clear everything myself, including dead ends. I also said my argument was not against people who chose to not clear DE's (or people that Key), but those who bind hoods just run by everything in the "main paths" of the dungeon and ignore it to get to the boss as fast as possible. I'm not arguing efficiency. I'm playing Dungeon for fun, not efficiency, so like I said: if you play for XP/HR that's your thing. 3) The OP's point of this thread was to discuss the order items should be binded for each persons individual strategy, not which binds get the best XP/HR. My point was I don't view rushing to the boss and running through every room while having a hood binded very interesting choice of game-play. So I personally (along with everyone else who doesn't rush floors) would not bind a hood for the sole reason to rush floors. If you want to rush, go ahead. I won't stop you from getting the best XP/Hr. But I don't have to agree that rushing is the best choice of game-play, nor is this thread limited to only "efficient rushing binds".
  7. Why would Jagex add them in the Rooms in the first place if they weren't meant to be killed? If they wanted to have them act as a challenge to run past they would have just put un-attack-able NPC's that fire lasers across the room and cant be prayed against. It's like going to GWD, killing the boss, and just ignoring all the Minions. If you play only for XP/Hr that's your thing, but that doesn't mean everyone else should too. IMHO Rushing floors for xp/hr simply makes it a dull skill of grinding xp/hr, when it has the ability to be so much more enjoyable. I'm not talking about clearing dead ends, but normal rooms you run through. If I can clear a solo medium (including clearing dead ends) in ~40 minutes, I don't see why a 5:5 large cant clear a large map (ignoring dead ends) in less than 60 minutes time?
  8. Celestial catalytic staff is necessary for any serious maging. Also you need 99 runecrafting to make an empowered catalytic staff. Ya any serious Mage should be binding that staff (or the highest staff they can) as soon as they get it. 30% damage with Fire surge is 364 + Potion Boosts. Combined with a higher tiered Blitzer Ring, and you can easily have higher DPS than melee. The only problem is magic is more of a "middle-end dungeon" tool since the materials take so long to make. I am against combat players binding hood's all together because feel like every monster in a room you enter should be killed. For key'ers they are ok to grab keys from DE's, but a combat team should not run through a room and ignore the monsters in it just because it makes the floor slightly faster. So a mage who binds a Melee weapon and then the Highest staff they can gives them a nice balance to the team. They can melee at the start when resources are low, and then mage once enough resources are present (which shouldn't really take more than 5-10 minutes).
  9. Is this the definitive answer? I've been thinking of doing some LS Bandos to try for some Elite Clues. Clues have been confirmed to not be dropped in LS. Only way to get them from bosses is FFA or Solo.
  10. I've seen bots that push the outer limits of that definition. Basically, the user first instructs the bot of there the mouse locations are on the screen and picks if it will be a left click or right click. Once that is done, all the user has to do now is just click spam or key spam and the script will run through all of the pre-recorded positions. The user is still technically inputting all of the button presses, but all the mouse movements are done by the bot. mapping the action of moving the cursor to a specific location on the screen is against the rules. mousekeys move the mouse relative to its current position, which is why they are allowed There is however a very VERY gray area with some things the program does so you need to be aware you are taking a risk running it. If you assign keys to do each action separately it is "technically" within the rules of the game. If you assign keys to do 2 actions in 1, such as move the mouse AND click 1 in step, it IS classified as a "bot" and WILL get you banned. That being said, this program acts in the exact same way that a bot would in terms of the output values. Jagex really has no way of identifying if you are using a script to click, or using mouse-keys. Many many clicks in the same points over and over might trip the Anti-Bot systems and could potentially get you banned. So heed this warning. Even if you are "legally" doing 1 click per 1 action, having the "exact same" pixel for pixel clicks over and over could still flag you as a Botter and get your account banned. If it looks to good to be true, it likely is.
  11. Actually prestige doesn't have anything to do with the number of floors you do in one log-in period. Prestige and Reset are linked, so I like to think of them as "progress" and "reset progress". Basically if you do the same floor number 2x in a row, you no longer get the full XP for that floor. So for example if you did floors #1, #1, #2, #2 you would half the xp for doing floors 1 and 2 a second time. Doing the same floor 2x in a row = Bad. You should be doing floors #1,#2,#3,#4 in the scenario above. The reset button acts as a "clear progress" button so you can redo the floors and get the full XP (prestige) for it. IMPORTANT: The "prestige value" is the total number of floors you had checked off on your last reset. So you want to finish all of the floors available to you, before you reset, to get the best possible "prestige value". Never reset until you have completed all of your possible floors, to get the highest prestige (and highest XP). So in sum: 1) Do all the floors you can. Don't repeat any of them (until after you reset). 2) The floors you complete will be checked off on your list 3) Prestige = # of floors checked off on the last time you hit reset. 4) NEVER EVER reset until you have completed all of your possible floors, for the maximum XP. [hide=Another Example] Floor 1 Floor 2 ... Floor 5 RESET ------------ Floor 1 Floor 2 ... Floor 9 RESET ------------ Ect.. [/hide]
  12. I too solo the majority of my Dungeons. My solo bind list is: 1) Prom LS 2) Catalytic Fire Staff 3) Sag Arrows (P++) The reason for this setup is that I find Prom Long to be slightly more accurate than the Primal Rapier, despite its lack of speed. I would say its close to even with the Rapier for the rooms, but LS is better for bosses due to its higher accuracy. It has a stab option too, so a good "all around" weapon for the most part since it can access all the rings. I've seen 2H in action and it's pretty good, but lacks the stab attack. Ice floors tend to have lower level monsters compared to the higher level floors so I don't feel the lack of a crush option on the LS is to much of a loss. At the start I also make 50 ess of death, blood, and air runes. Coupled with my fire staff that gives me enough casts to plow though any warriors I might find. The staff also has the benefit of having fire runes for my alchs. I alch all my charms which gives me enough GP if I need to make an alter for some reason. It's also useful for getting GP for farming seeds. The arrows are simply there because arrows are very difficult and time consuming to make. Runes are cheap, fast and easy to make. If my boss requires a bow, I have the best possible arrows to kill him with. So that's my personal bind list for solos. Granted, I can make most items myself when needed, so that has influenced my bind order. If you cant make a prom plate, it may be worth binding the highest plate you can instead of the staff. My binding thoughts are basically: The things that are most useful at the start of a round, or take a long time to manufacture are worth considering for bind.
  13. Don't forget you can boost stats too. You can wild pie to kill the Wryms at 88 slayer (provided you bought the ability to kill or had a fire cape). Did my wyrm task @ 91 slay. Same thing for the RC task. I plan to do mine @ 87 RC. +4 boost isn't to uncommon from evil stews and sure as heck beats getting the 2-3M extra RC XP needed from 87-91 to do the task. Considering that you need to turn 28 essence into 56 nature runes, and that you need to get the +4 boost in the first place, how are you going to carry it out? Best I can figure is getting the boost in a bank, then tabbing to nature altar and unloading an extra rune essence from a familiar. But that leaves quite a margin for error, doesn't it? or stew@the alter, drop bowl take ess from familiar. Actually I was planning on having 1 Stew, 1 Spice Jar, 1 Nature Tab, and 25 Essence in my inventory at Edgeville Bank. I would already have an Abyssal Titan filled with ess before I even started potting. So all you would need to do when you got the boost is: 1) Use Nature Tab 2) Drop Bowl 3) Drop Spice Container 4) Take BoB. (BoB option would be set as primary option so you don't have to right click) 5) Click on alter. You should be able to complete all of the above in about 5-10 seconds from the boost.
  14. Don't forget you can boost stats too. You can wild pie to kill the Wryms at 88 slayer (provided you bought the ability to kill or had a fire cape). Did my wyrm task @ 91 slay. 15. @ above ya. Even though it is a "repeat" of sorts, I can see them requiring a magic log for it. 85 Crafting & Firemaking could be considered "elite". Should have kept my bones from when I was clue hunting >.<
  16. Its a shame range isn't really worth binding over other items in dungeons. If I could bind an extra item I would have this. It is smexi <3: (From Solo Medium btw)
  17. Ok, I think something's wrong. It's been 24 hours now and those trees haven't grown. Also I replanted yews about 8 hours ago. Is replanting trees not working during the weekend? Anyone? It's been 30 hours now. You know that each time you log in, the counter of the current growth fase is reset right? Seriously?! Common misconception actually. The timer doesn't "reset" at all, but is rather "skipped" given the certain circumstances. Most of the added time comes from disease rather than logging. (see discussion below) [hide] Each farming plant is broken down into mini-segments which carry from plant to plant. Some plants (like limpwurts) are broken down into 2.5 minute timers. Other plants, such as herbs are broken down into 5 minute timers. If you are in process of logging in/out when the timer "clicks" to go to the next growth stage, the timer will be skipped and you lose the stage that would have progressed. For small plants that only make be a few minutes, but for large tree's missing the growth timer could be 30 minutes. Logging in/out on the the timer itself wont add to much to the growth of a tree, but what really adds up the time is disease. While a tree can still be watched, that does not keep the tree from being diseased. It simply won't die if being watched while diseased. Think of a tree being watched as having plant cure put on the tree every 2.5 minutes by the farmer. So the tree won't die, but still feel the time increasing effects of disease. (It will miss a cycle every time the tree gets diseased.) A tree getting diseased and "auto-cured" 3-4+ times by the farmer watching it could have a dramatic effect on the total amount of time the tree takes to grow. In some cases the tree could end up almost double the normal growing time (though that would be very rare). This is most often seen with longer growing trees as they have more opportunity to become diseased. Calquat and Spirit trees have about a 30-50% chance to be delayed at some point in their time growing (as per personal experience growing them to 99). [/hide] As for my bonus weekend, I decided to do as much herb as I could and then proceed with ZMI. Got +1 herb levels and +1 RC levels. I'm defiantly stocking up though for the next DXPW and maybe plan to get 99 herb on that if possible.
  18. Most of the people who bought Herbs right away did not buy them to use them, but to sell them once the price raises. This "crash" is now the spiral effect of all those merchants selling their herb stocks at once. It should level out by the start of the XP weekend, if not before then.
  19. Single world roll-backs could be possible. For your D&D example. Say you did penguins on w2 and just traded in your points. 1 of 2 situations would arise. 1) You stayed logged in, and the server crashed. This rolled your account to its last known save point (sometime in the past 15 minutes) Anything you did since the last save point was lost, including your penguin point trade in. You should still have the points, and still be able to trade them in, since the server basically "lost" the data that penguin points were exchanged. 2) You logged out and hopped to a different world. Changing worlds transfers your data from one server to another "re-saving" its current state. If W2 got rolled back after you already left your penguin point rewards were already recorded and set-in-stone per say. The data would not have been lost, so you could not do your penguins and it would be as if nothing happened. So IF w2 was reset, and the other worlds were no, the "data" of the GE purchase would be lost for the person in W2, but the person on the other world should see not difference as if nothing happened. It's highly possible that person selling the mask got his GP, the mask was destroyed, and you gained your GP back since the data of you purchasing the mask was "lost". This would be my assumption anyways, because if the player on the other world took out the GP from the GE and dropped it, the game would have no way of knowing where to get the original GP from. The only way the mask could have been returned is if the mask offer was not collected by the player who sold the item on the different world.
  20. You can be venged as many times as you want, but any new vengeance spells simply re-write over the old ones until one is used up. Casting vengeance is limit to 30 seconds for either spell. (Both share the same timer) Recieving vengeance has no limit, other than not being stackable. So to answer the OP question, the 30 second wait limit only applies to the person casting the spell, not receiving the spell. You can have 100 people cast Vengeance on you (including yourself) at the same time, but only 1 vengeance spell will count as long as you do not get hit in-between vengeance casts. On the other end of the spectrum, you could have a group of players stagger Vengeance to you after every one of your opponents hits, and you would receive 1 vengeance recoil after every attack from your opponent.
  21. The reason for that is (as posted images on page 8), the void equipment is based on a 10% bonus. Void 10% bonus is a end multiplier, so the 10% boosts not only your armor accuracy, but your (Armor accuracy + Ranged level accuracy) * 10%. Armadyl: ~195 Range Accuracy Bonus 0% Damage bonus New Void Setup with Arma Top: ( ~164 Range Accuracy bonus + Ranged Level Accuracy ) * 10% = ??? 10% Damage bonus Just the armor 10% accuracy alone would raise your void setup to around 180, plus your 10% boost on your ranged level for accuracy. So in all cases, it appears the new setup beats full Armadyl on accuracy, and damage. The only benefit full Armadyl would have now is that it has more defense than void.
  22. Tried to keep things pretty simplistic for my outfits. Wanted a nice base outfit without additions for SC, Dung, and other places you start with no items. And then my general Armadyl "fun" outfit when I know I'm not going to be doing any activity that requires me to remove clothes.
  23. Ya I feel as if the mage at the moment is just a glorified ranger. I think that if they boosted the mage to do even more damage only on melee troops, or extend the attack range to that of the scouts movement range, it could help balance the Champions. If 2 mages could take out a team of 4-5 Champions, but hit 0 damage on non-melee troops, then it would be quite balanced.
  24. Aaaaaaand that's what will ruin this minigame. Hope Jagex catches on quick and fixes this. Its not like hes ruining your fun, hes talking about doing with a friend. And its also people like me who need this. I've tried several different strategies and always get matched up with people who apparently know how beat me, which is unfortunate when all i want is a few rank points. I've tried reading the guide, did the tutorial, tried different types of groups/setups and have yet to win/tie a single game. Its not like I don't try, I just keep getting beat by people better than me. I try to learn and use their strategies and still lose. It gets quite frustrating when you get beat 100% of the time when you try really hard to win. At least MA gave you 1 point for losing if you gave an effort to win. Now I'm at like 800 rank with no hope of ever getting the shield item. :-?
  25. The new void piece does have some uses, especially @ FoG where defense doesn't matter. Im am going to swap this out @ Fog for my rune defender and wear barrows gloves instead. Its a loss of -7 slash accuracy, but +8 Str over the defender due to the gloves. The gloves would also give +6 magic attack and +12 ranged attack while the defender would give none at all. No shield swapping to get the benefits of all 3 triangle sides @ Fog.. I am very much looking forward to getting one.
