Defence, Magic, and Range
plain gold? plain gold unstrung amulets can be strung via string ammy spell for about 130k AFK'able magic xp/hour. idk how much it costs nowadays, though. it was a little below 5gp/xp back when I trained magic with it
-
Defence, Magic, and Range
ranged def is from def lvl only. magic is way more than 70%... most likely 100%. def lvl is negligible when it comes to magic def

Two Very Basic Combat Questions
I think monkey skeletons is faster xp w/o dharoks. Much more AFK'able too. Without dharoks you can stay much longer and have to make less lengthy trips to-and-from the bank.

Slayer Task Log
I would not be surprised if Villandra already knows the answer to that question-- you should ask her. I'm pretty sure she has lists of all her tasks across all her accounts, however those begin with lvl 1 slayer.

How are you preparing for Nex?
...but in all seriousness, the only thing I'm doing is waiting for Nex to come out before buying a chaotic. Who knows-- magic might actually be the most effective way to kill a boss for once.

How are you preparing for Nex?
I'm not fooling around with Nex. I have water, kerosine, extra fanny packs, and black market stinger missiles. Come and get me.

Ex-Professional Gamer's view of the "Scrub"
You seem like your main goal in RS is to max out and get as much exp as efficiently as possible, which is fine. But that's not everyone's goal, hell I've been playing over 5 years and I'm just about to get my first 99. I just never cared about xp or getting high stats, I did whatever was fun the day I logged in regardless of how efficient it was. Different play styles, different goals nice soapbox you've got there could you please answer me these three questions: when you dungeoneer, 1. do you try to die, or avoid dying? 2. do you try to succeed, or fail at killing the boss? 3. do you prefer to get more experience, or less experience? i think after you've answered them i'm sure you'll be able to understand what green is saying. Oh how wonderful it would be if his opinion could actually be reduced to such simple binaries

[spoiler=Quote pyramid] Ehh yeah no... Would you like to test it on me? Yes 99.9% of the time I would win... I'll test it if he doesn't :) Alright than  Saying max mage defense makes you immune to magic is like saying wearing full torags makes you immune to melee. With the proper gear, your opponent will still retain reasonable accuracy. Then there's a whole variety of status effects that'll come along with it too. Also, if anything, more melee gear should improve melee attack bonus. Notice that range armor generally improves range offensively, magic armor generally improves magic offensively. Melee armors usually don't have that much of an effect, if any. And before you say "melee doesn't need the attack bonus," hybrids generally have no problem ranging in magic gear. Good ranged weapons offer pretty significant range bonuses on their own, and they go one step farther than melee - all their range strength is derived from their ammunition, and none from their armor. I never said i'm immune to mage attacks, it's just that mage barely has a ko factor by itself. If I were t fight someone in max mage, while wearing max mage defence, I could just run up to the mage and spec with claws. How can you run if you're frozen solid? How can you KO if I'm protected by a light aura for a full minute while your attack speed is halved? How can you hit me if you've been blinded? Just some variables to consider :P

Mages have definitely got more power since ancients and staff of light and blah blah blah, but the fact that melee can wear range armour and still be able to melee effectively seems pretty ridiculous to me. Especially since that [cabbage] won't fly if a mage or ranger tries doing their thing in all melee armour Even if a warrior has maxed-out mage def, it's still not enough to kill a mage, though. Nowadays magic can consistently defeat any opponent, regardless of circumstances thanks to miasmics and damage boosts

Please tell me nobody here actually thinks a warrior can beat a skilled mage

as I said I couldn't care less what some decadent people in their high white castles make up, in 20 years from now they'll completely change their minds, again. - I do see here people saying that loosing your gear which "worked oh so hard for" is similar to being robbed of things like wedding rings. THAT is stupid, and shows you can't seperate reality from games! It's the same emotion, regardless of the context. If I got hacked and lost everything I worked for, I honestly wouldn't be TOO upset about it, considering I've got a lot of other things to do in my spare time besides RS. A few years ago, I probably would've been pretty annoyed (like when my main was banned...) When it comes to emotions and RS, it really just boils down to how seriously you take the game. Look at the guys who are racing towards 200M in every stat-- I'd bet money that any of them would be livid if they lost their accounts. But people like you apparently just don't take the game seriously enough to get upset over your virtual losses. Keep in mind that just because someone takes the game more seriously than you, that doesn't mean their emotions are messed up or anything... it's like making fun of your friends for getting excited over sports, or getting a good grade in a class. Food for thought (don't bump the thread): http://forum.tip.it/topic/262597-food-for-thought/

You need to stay hydrated to survive, you don't need a rune platebody to survive! If we're talking about basic needs coca cola is probably farther down on the list than a rune platebody  If you're emotionally invested in something because you spent time/money/effort getting it, whether it's a physical object or a "virtual" object, it can be significant to you. Some are emotionally invested in their characters and avatars, and others aren't, and neither one of those choices is inherently better than the other. But getting emotionally affected for a game is unhealth.. This is just a game don't forget that.. Nothing depends on it, nothing will come from it and in the end it will stop! Same goes for just about any accomplishment you can think of-- RL or RS. When you die, it doesn't matter how much you time you spent exercising and being healthy-- your body's dunzo.

3 lvls to go! Started a few days ago at lvl 80. It's a total of ~20 hours of worshipping :wall: So far I've watched all six star wars films... and still about another 7 hours of worshiping. Kudos to those who trained prayer before worship-x, or even gilded altars lol

Where to max out melees?
About how much more XP/hour would a rapier get me, compared to whip btw?
-
Where to max out melees?
Thanks a lot for your feedback everyone, that means I'll have to go grab the elite void bottoms then. Hope that doesn't take too long... The only thing I don't like about void is that I can't charge its helms with iron titan scrolls... that won't be an issue for a while though, considering defense is last on the list.

Where to max out melees?
I decided to wait until having access to extremes, turmoil, and chaotic weaponry before maxing out my melees... With that said, I was planning on training on Ape Atoll skeletons with proselyte, turmoil, extremes, and rapier. Though after reading about chaotic weapons degrading faster with more monsters attacking, that makes me wonder if my chaotic would degrade too fast for it to be worth it there. So, a few questions... Should the rapier be my weapon of choice for training 91-99 att/str/def? Would a different chaotic weapon get me better xp/hour? Would the whip be much more cost-efficient? Also, I noticed that the rapier can't train on controlled; I guess I'd train strength to 99 then attack then defense... hopefully using stab wouldn't be a big issue. If I train at MM skeletons, how fast will a chaotic weapon degrade? I'm thinking it would be possible to line up the skeletons such that there aren't a swarm of them attacking me at once. Are there any locations where I could train melee AFK as fast or faster than at MM skeletons? The zombie monkeys die too quickly when I use boosts above super potions and 10% strength prayers.

Melee, Ranging, and Two Slight Diversions
Referring to your grammar section... You should add that periods, commas, exclamation marks, and question marks are supposed to go inside quotation marks. In contrast, colons and semi-colons are "too big to fit inside" of quotations, and belong outside of them :ugeek:
