It depends on your definition I guess. A harmful addiction is (in my opinion) one which negatively impacts other areas of your life. I have no problem balancing my university life with playing Runescape, so I personally wouldn't class myself as addicted, although others certainly would, as if I don't have any work/more important things to do I can easily play 6-12 or even beyond hours in a day. But as I say, there are certain things which always come before RS for me, so playing for long periods of time when I can doesn't worry me in any way.

Begging really gets on my nerves. Its not like someone who you're good friends with asking for you to lend them a bit of cash for bonus xp weekend or whatever, these random strangers who I have absolutely no connection with ask me for my money. Why. What goes through their heads that would make them think I would give them anything of mine, let alone the fact that you'd expect people to have some minimum level of dignity and pride even in an online situation. Evidently this is not the case.

Haha, its good to see things like this every once in a while

Friends got me into the game around 7 years ago. I played a lot at first because it was just fun messing around with mates, but I stopped playing when I was about 14. (Pretty fortunate really as I started my GCSE's around then). I started playing again during sixth form, but only a couple of hours a week. Since then I've gradually started playing more (although I'm barely on at the moment as I have uni exams in the next 2 months), and am motivated by trying to obtain a comp cape and rare set. The rare set is coming along quite nicely (All lowers, edibles and a blue partyhat), and I haven't really worked on maxing for a few weeks, so once my exams are over I'll be back working on that. I doubt I'll ever quit Runescape, I have invested nearly 120 days into the game already, so stopping now without reaching my goals is basically out of the question for me. Even if Jagex completely ruined the integrity of the game through various schemes, I'd still be happy to log on to see where my favourite quest lines go, and to try out any cool update. I'm perfectly happy to pay my £3.50 a month for that, so I guess I'll keep playing till they turn the servers off.

I'd advise getting 80 hunter first, this lets you catch all jadinko's which would allow you to make juju farming potions, which will be very important for maximizing profits from herb runs. Getting to (I think 62 or 64?) farming shouldn't be too difficult, at which point regular snapdragon runs with juju potions, magic secateurs + supercompost should provide a stable income and reasonable farming xp. Also complete the throne of miscellania and royal trouble quests and invest as much spare cash as possible into your kingdom. I would definitely advise getting 80 attack and dg before starting on slayer, with the new dg updates getting a rapier might not be as painful as it was. 75 prayer doesn't really offer any benefit over 70 if you're tight for cash, doing barbarian fishing till 90 to allow you to do rocktails when you feel like afking might be a good idea also. If you can get to 83 firemaking using maple/yew logs, which shouldnt take too long, you can go all the way to 99 firemaking for free at the jadinko lair, which would also get you some seeds for hunter, and would be an easy and fast way to boost your total level. Thieving is likewise a fast non buyable you might want to get 91+ in. Good luck with your goals.

The game is dead now, a lot of people are selling rsgp + buying squeal spins. RIP.

If you're looking for something long-term which is a bit of fun pvm, look into kiln. Its great because of the guaranteed returns. Castle Wars (YT Channel: Omustardo) has dozens of kilns on recorded livestream footage, that along with Smokey's guides should be plenty of preparation to start there. If you have a little cash already and just want the maximum gp/hr take a look at the ge graph for steads, rather than trying to get some yourself. If you have enough to buy 1 pair of steads you can easily make the same amount you would have made in an hour or two of glacors in a minute. With larger cash stacks the gp/hr is hundreds of times that of actually killing glacors.

Good Luck with your goals. I'm sure the most efficient blog on tipit will make for an interesting read. -
Learn to make 1.8M an hour in f2p/p2p HERE!

So long as 'properly' is still 1 in 1 out. Some people seem to think scripts which buy everything you need from the smuggler in dg with a single click are fine, even though they obviously aren't. -
Are Ganodermic top and bottom better than Ahrim's?
Fallstar replied to brad1431's topic in Help and Advice
I like gano for waterfiends, reduces the apm a lot. You won't have to repair it that many times on the way to 99 slayer, so unless you're pretty hard up for cash I wouldn't worry too much about it. -
You should try just to clear guardian door rooms, generally killing other monsters slows you down so much it isn't worth it for xp/hr.

I agree here. People spend vast amounts of time on skills doing boring things to get to 'the good stuff' in terms of real life too. For example, the person who said that jacmob got lucky by breaking the rules. No he didn't. He spent a considerable amount of time working with computers, and after he has finished the bot problem will be moving onto working on the engine. Whilst his role at a botting site may have helped keep him in contact with Runescape, it is the fact that he worked for a long time that got him the job. Spending a long time working on something for a reward. Sounds familiar.

Even without a CSb, I was told a primal b axe was a better weapon bind than a prom 2h anyway. There's a spreadsheet with the dps data with DGS somewhere, one of them sent me the link once but I lost it.

What. Summoning is no where near the price of herblore. Although I still recommend summoning over herblore if you must choose between those two.

I very rarely don't have plenty of cash from the starting room, but I still have laws bound as I haven't even seen a CSB

At the end of the day, this is no great question of morality. Your Runescape account is the property of Jagex, so it actually is a case of 'the rules are the rules'. Jagex also owns Runescape, and they have decided botting in Runescape is wrong. Since the game is their creation and property, it is their decision whether or not botting is right/wrong. And they have decided it is wrong. You can argue all you like that botting is not 'wrong', but what you think doesn't matter in this case. And having spoken to Jacmob, he seems confidant that Optimus will be more permanent and wide reaching than Bot Nuke V1, so hopefully this discussion will soon be a moot point.

I'd just go cannon blue dragons in Taverly Dungeon at your stats, its about 1m/hr profit.

Storm of armadyl is used a lot more commonly than some people seem to think. Seeing as soa isn't even that expensive (cheaper than some of the barrages per cast), it is used in high level hybrid pking a lot. If you're risking any significant amount of gear, the increase in damage using soa over pps is by far worth it. (Which is why SW is irrelevant as you don't stand to gain 10m+ from making a kill, so why bother with the expensive but OP spell?)
-
There's the argument that the improvement of accuracy due to having a cls over a rapier is better on a small number of cannon heavy tasks. But that's dubious whether the cls is better anyway, and even if it is the difference won't be noticeable. I'd get it just because you will have the tokens to spend and it looks nice :shades:

Rigour, ccb and eek are the important things to get from dg for nex. You can replace eek with an elysian/divine, but not on your bank. No decent team accepts spectrals, so you do have to go through a fair bit of dg. You will also need 99 ranged, and the highest level mage you can get, as the person with lowest mage defense is targeted more by Nex on average. I'd be surprised if you could get onto any team without a pack yak. You'll also need 99 constitution and the highest defence you can get, again anything below 99 will start becoming a problem when combined with non 99 mage and void. In terms of armour, full arma is the minimum requirement unless you go with a void team, but void teams use a lot more supplies than arma/pernix ones, that said with 60m the void set up is probably better for you iniitally. Swift gloves from dominion tower are free to get, an imbued onyx ring is the best ring for Nex, but if that's too much I'd assume an imbued archer's ring (?) You can't really compromise on a lot of that stuff, and the decent 4-6 man teams usually require maxed combat stats and the best items, with 2 pernix and one armadyl armour piece, except for the eek/ely/div shield (any are acceptable). Unless you want to go in a mass, you have a lot of work to do in terms of stats and gear.

In Runeshark's video on this the mage with a polypore staff completely outclassed the guy with these bolts, even when the ranger switched to full pernix. I was actually surprised by how incredibly accurate the PPS was on pernix. So it looks like someone using these bolts would still be an easy target for any mage in the wildy, let alone one using soa, who brings some form of helmet along.

Did about 3m herb and 10m construction, and all of that except 4m of the cons xp was done on the Friday, I was too busy irl over the weekend to get as much xp :/

If you ever get into PVM in the future, spec restores will speed up kills for most bosses and are practically required by decent Nex teams. So you will probably put them into use at some point.
