  1. It would be difficult to moderate this privilege. For example, player A is fighting player B. Both are in the multicombat wild. Revs crash the duel. In that case, does the dead player(s) lose(s) his items? Too hard to tell. Second, players could also use the dueling system ot circumvent extremely strong monsters if monster were programed then on to not attack dueling players. These are only a few flaws in the free-for-all-no-risk in all worlds. Man, I seriously hope you never design things for a living if you give up on stuff that easily. Off the top of my head, they could code it so if you've taken any damage whatsoever from a player in the last 2 minutes you keep your items even if killed by a monster. And that's ignoring the fact that on our current pvp worlds there are no revs, since the constant risk of attack by players replaces them. I mean seriously, if Jagex spent some time, heck if I spent some time testing and working on something like this I could work most of the kinks out pretty quickly. But that's one issue. You said this was just one, what are the rest?
  2. Well then there is a reason for skillers to enter pvp worlds isn't there? Skillers obviously shouldn't be expected to do everything they want to do while wearing pvp gear, that would be like forcing pkers to fight each other with pickaxes. Should they just be left to the mercy of the first pker who happens to see them? Obviously not, since Jagex did create a reason (and a very good one) for skillers to use pvp worlds. Even from a pker's point of view, escaping a fight you are bound to lose is just as much a part of pvp as it is a part of life. If you're going to remove teleporting why not just say neither player can move until one of them has died? The potential of teleporting away also introduces more strategy into pvp than attack with a whip until you get lucky hits, then attack with a dds. People will only generally teleport away from fights anyways when they run out of food, which means that you have been fighting for a good while and have failed to KO the person so far. KO attempts earlier on in the fight are more likely to be successful because the opponent still has a chance at winning and so is not likely to teleport. The moral: if you suck at getting KOs, you won't get kills. This is not rocket science, and is true whether the enemy can teleport or not. First, the skiller didn't get his hands on those brawling gloves without pking. A lot. And the deal is that while the gloves are a nice little reward for pking that is useable for skilling, that doesn't change the fact that this is NOT a skilling world. If something gets changed, it's going to be with pvp in mind, not the 2 people per hour that might be using the brawling gloves in some empty corner of a pvp world. This idea wouldn't remove teleporting at all. Trust me, I bet I could tank 7 seconds without eating in armor without breaking a sweat. With some luck I could make it nekkid. This just changes teleporting from a failsafe escape into something effective but with enough of an element of risk that you might not want to use a teleport when someone has just busted a number and you're on 5 hp. Teleporting doesn't take skill, at all. At least now you're going to have to think it through before you grab that tab. Balance is a very important thing.
  3. might as well make a rule saying you are limited to only eating at 1 hp above the max hit of the other person, you are not allowed to use any advantages you worked your [wagon] off for (good stats and gear), and you are not allowed to call others noobs. Welcome to Rulescape. PVP is Player vs player. That does not mean there are specific rules you have to follow. The other person might ask you to not safe, run, etc, but in the end, it is your choice. On a more serious note: I am laughing on my computer at those who are complaining because the person they fight teleports before they can kill him/her. If you are having that many issues, go to bh or don't pk at all. They have the right to do whatever the hell they want to in the game. Don't try and be a mother. EDIT: I found the perfect place for you to kill others at: Duel Arena. You can cancel magic so tehy can't teleport away. I knew someone like this would post. If you suck so bad that this rule would screw you over, it's not me that needs to stop pking. You can still do whatever you want. You can still teleport. It just adds something that Jagex usually doesn't have a freaking clue about: balance. Something that available and that effective needs to come at a cost. It's not hard to guess you've never played any mmo other than RS, because you don't under the simplest concepts of game balance and design. Do you really call going to the GE and picking up a house teletab for 883 gp "working your [wagon] off for good gear and skills"? You're either a lame "nh" pker that wouldn't risk a set of rune without an ectophial or you're a skiller that this doesn't affect. In either case, your opinion doesn't matter.
  4. I don't see how it would. What it does is remove the "oh [cabbage], he redbarred me" type of teleporting, and makes it something you'd have to plan for by eating up and getting ready. What do you think makes it a bad idea?
  5. I'm not going to get into then entire discussion about pking and prayer and teleporting here. There are more than enough threads about that going around lately. Instead, I'm just going to mention pvp worlds. They were a pker update, with pker rewards, for pkers to enjoy. Other than the brawling gloves, there's absolutely no reason a skiller would ever need to enter a pvp world. Then why does one of the most pker hated abilities, teleporting, still work as well as it always has in this pker geared update? Teleporting is pathetically easy to use. It's not like some high leveled uber-skill that you have to work your [wagon] off to earn. A tablet takes one inventory space, is weightless, and costs ~800 gp from the GE. The only counter for this ridiculously accessible "I escape" button is teleblock, which requires 85 magic, takes a minimum of 3 inventory spaces for the runes and another two for a robe top and bottom, and splashes fairly often for a level 85 spell. These are pker worlds. Make them for the pkers. A simple fix would be to change teleporting into an ability that takes 7 seconds to cast while under attack by another player in a pvp world. During this time, you cannot eat or move, and all protect prayers are disabled. If you eat, move, or turn your protect prayers back on while casting your teleport, your runes or tablet is refunded and the spell is canceled. You are free to try and teleport again, but the conditions will return and you'll have to start again at the beginning of the 7 second delay. The fix doesn't have to be written this exact way. Anything alone these lines would work. All I care is if you plan to give something to pkers specifically, make it as pker friendly as possible. Just curious to see what people would think of an update like this. Edit: Before I start getting posts about it, this is not a suggestion. This thread's point is mainly to see what the average Scaper would think about changing the pvp worlds in this way.
  6. Hmmm i know how to KO, its just hard to KO someone thats busy teleporting. I'm sure it's not impossible. Oh yes excuse me while i magically throw my sword to where ever he teleported himself so i can KO him. Seriously? :wall: If you cant teleblock, assuming your f2p take some tele runes with you to. When they tele, tele after them you've got like a 1/3 chance of being right, This isnt a good idea. With me being on low health aswell i would undoubtetly die when i tele. I would most likely get attacked by a 1-itemer as soon as i tele and having no food would get pk'ed. Not to mention they could always teleport to lumbridge. You aren't going to finish him in that 10 seconds. Just nerf teleporting period on pvp worlds, it's a pker's world, why shouldn't it be made for the pkers?
  7. 24 specs wouldn't ko anybody, that's 4 combat rounds which means by spamming food that 96 hp you took off actually turned out to be around 16.
  8. When it comes to teleporting, I've always believed in pvp it offers too much reward for too little effort. One inventory space for a tablet, and as long as you don't get koed before you can use it you have an almost 100% surefire way to exit a fight safely. They really need to change the way teleporting works in player combat. No other MMO out there that I can think of offhand has such a cheesy way to escape combat that's that available to anybody with a half hours' work in magic, a piece of jewelry, or a 800 gp tablet.
  9. Dude, you really are ignorant about combat. I'm maxed melee with 99 magic. Even in solid mage bonus gear I have accuracy problems against anybody with a decent magic level and gear. Ranged is the most accurate combat skill versus a maxed player, with melee coming in second. Magic is pisspoor inaccurate. Sure you aren't going to miss that often, the average 125 has 80ish magic, but when you're talking maxed vs maxed magic is the underdog in accuracy and damage. You want to test it out? I'd be happy to meet you at the duel arena. Run a mageboxing round with my stats at normal, then get my magic drained on ice somewhere and superset my def back to normal. Trust me, you WILL notice a massive difference. You really can't get your information from CW man, that's just not real pvp.
  10. How come that a guy with 85 slayer and level 10 magic(dont ask, was his goal) got absolutely raped by bloodvelds and infernal mages despite wearing near max magic defence? Magic level does matter. It doesn't matter. I get raped on occasion too and I have 99 magic and defense. One can't seem to buy enough magic defense in this game, because it is heavily weighted towards magic accuracy. You must not use magic much. I've pvped enough with magic that after 15 casts or so I can guess fairly accurately what your magic level is. Magic has an ENORMOUS effect on your magic defense. You seriously need to pvp more. I mean seriously, if you've ever used mage on a pure, you would know that magic raises magic defense. A pure wearing black chaps, ghostly top, and a glory with 99 magic is several times harder to hit than some random guy with 70 magic and defense wearing the same gear, even though his defense level is a full 69 levels higher.
  11. Exactly, there are what, 130 safe worlds? I know personally I would be on the safe pvp worlds 24/7 when leveling or skilling, but for the people that wouldn't care for that there are plenty of non-pvp worlds. It's a win-win situation that would add a lot in terms of gameplay.
  12. Can see it, but what about the noobs who'll just run around attacking random people? What's wrong with that? It gives some excitement to grinding. Other games with systems like that work fine.
  13. Explain that to me cuz I'm seeing lots of problems right now... unless you mean PvP but don't lose items... Safe pvp. You keep your items.

Well shoot, that sums it up. The PKers are back, so their idea of a "perfect" PK where they win and you don't returns too. I'm going to sit back and pray for an update to severely hobble players like that. So your idea of a perfect pk is for you to lose and for the person you attacked to win? I don't think you quite caught my point. I know what you said, you don't know what you said. Basically, this... ...was my point. You didn't quite see the implied fact that PKers will happily whine about anything that doesn't go their way, which was what I was getting at the entire time. You still don't know what you're saying. You accused pkers of wanting easy pks - when the pker is not using the very same things they don't want you to use. The pker isn't turning on protect melee and saying "OMG I'm the only one allowed to use this, turn yours off prayer noob!" I don't see how it's an advantage for the pker, other than not using prayer generally makes the best player win. By leaving off prayer, the odds of dieing in an encounter are around 35% by ko, turn on prayer, and NEITHER party is going to die in 95% of fights. And don't [cabbage] about how "but my combat is based on prayer, unlike ___ the pure!". Pures are a dieing breed. Pures always have prayer. And even the average impure pker, like me, don't use protects unless forced to by the other person. Our combat is raised just as much as yours by prayer. So please, just stop regurgitating the same old arguments that every skiller has spewed across the boards since they started and get something original.

  17. I like that idea. At least people would have to work for their prayer.
  18. I'm an ex pker, but the pking worlds aren't anything to be proud of. IMO they need to release 2 or 3 extra worlds, pvp everywhere, but safe. Somehow being able to carry on everything you could do in a regular world, plus the ability to kill off spawn stealers/half killers/whatever and sending them from my training spot to lumb seems to be infinitely more fun. Might just be the fact that I've probably logged into RS for around 3 hours in the past week and whenever I get time I usually log into another game with open, safe, pvp everywhere. PvP for the sake of PvP is better than PvP for the sake of GPs, largely because the risk of items lures a bunch of cheeseball wannabes with protect prayers and one items into the pvp worlds.
  19. That's f2p. Although this entire thread aside, I just can't fanthom why you would pray melee in f2p of all places, pvp is so painfully slow there already. Because it lets me win. People have lower Prayer in F2P. It got you one kill. Seriously if somebody gets owned by somebody with protect melee in f2p, they should quit RS, they're just that bad. I said earlier that no 14-16 spec through prayer will kill me in p2p. Well, I promise you, no 13 from an r2h would even dent me. If you got owned by a pure, you suck, end of discussion. Pures are so completely tame now it's not even funny. And like I said, no pure out there has sacrificed prayer so much that they don't have at the least protect melee. I'm going to quote myself. False argument I've dealt with again and again, please l2read. And honestly, most of the true pkers out there aren't even pure. I'm sure as hell not, and I find protect prayers [developmentally delayed]. No, they leveled the playing field by redesigning the combat system. You can't even use barrows so yes, your stats are so low that a decent pure might destroy you, but believe me, I'm no pure, and I NEVER had problems with pures because of two reasons; pking skills, and high magic. Deathmatch me in the duel arena with nothing but generic pking gear. Let's see if you'll have a chance of beating me before I simply run out of pots or food. If you get a ko on me, I'll give you 5m if you have the junk to trade for it. Sound good? Oh, and to make it more wilderness-like, forfeit is on, so let's see if you can drop me before I decide things are going bad and run for the forfeit/ditch. Oh, and I will record, just fyi. Hypotheticals are only going to go so far here, time to give people a hard dose of reality. I really, really will give you cash if you somehow are able to "dance on my grave", because I know without a shadow of a doubt it ain't gonna happen. I don't give a [cabbage] about a "code". It's always been a lame term. All I care about is common sense and logic, and that's what the average prayer nub doesn't seem to have. What spot did you pk at? I'm just curious... I am seriously going to invest in an oldschool broken record player. Who needs a keyboard when you can repeat the same stuff at 20 different clueless skillers because they didn't even take the time to read?
  20. That's f2p. Although this entire thread aside, I just can't fanthom why you would pray melee in f2p of all places, pvp is so painfully slow there already.
  21. That's dueling, not pking. Nobody is going to fight when their prayer runs low, and nobody pks without prayer pots, so it's a moot point.
  22. So far the worlds seem to be completely a bunch of one itemers and pjers, although one item pjing is going to die down as soon as the hype wears off I'm guessing. It's not that easy anymore and you don't really get anything out of it with the "most damage dealt" feature and the 75k rule. Although a couple of the one itemers out there I talked to were carrying junk items like javelins for their 75k, and one of them said he's pked various rune and granite stuff off of other one itemers. God I wish I could log in.
  23. Did this barbarian just call someone a nerd? We can go back and forth all day and you basically just made my point. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ All you've proved is I'm an [wagon]. Which is true. But sorry, I'm not a pure.
  24. Did this nerd just call someone a "barbarian"? Lmao, I haven't seen that since I picked up some cheesy 80's flicks when I was traveling crosscountry last summer.
