Can you name a worse one? I know I can't. Pure essence was a fiasco that did nothing but help autoers, yet this update beats the record by a mile.

[ I'll take the cheating version of RuneScape, thank you very much. If I actually believed that Jagex would fix the problem with their updates, I'd believe them, but I don't. This change to the duel arena is beyond rediculous, accomplishes nothing, and destroys much. If the only solution you can come up with is to crush flies with sledgehammers, I'll take the flies anyday.

And I'll be off somewhere else entirely, just shaking my head sadly. :( Quicke question. How did this help? I can think of half a dozen other ways a RWT can transfer items. Sure, if this were the absolute finishing blow towards cheating, it would be worth it, but it accomplishes little and hurts much more. It was meaningless and stupid, that's all.

Trust stakes are NOT going to happen. If you can't trust somebody enough to stick around in a DM in edgeville, when they're risking maybe 100k, you are NOT going to get them to hand over that fury after they lose a duel. Uh uh. Sorry, but no.

Exactly as I feel. Jagex just Omega-ultra-overkilled it by making it 3K per 15 minutes. I mean 3K?! Christ! What a number... Jagex should really take example of Blizzard though, not on the game but their community. Blizzard is greatly in touch with their fans and look at them: WoW has 7 million+ accounts and all paying. Jagex has NO connection to its community compaired to Blizzard...none. Blizzard aside. I've been playing another game for a while now - great game, I love the pvp system, fanbase is great - but unfortunately, it's a dying game. It has all the marks; decreasing funds, time between patches is increasing, the client is starting to look dated; heck, its dev team has shrunk to half what it used to be. It was originally a traditional paygame like WoW or EQ, but has since gone free and makes its revenue through advertisement. But even on it's deathbed, with available resources dwindling, it's CS system rocks RuneScape's socks. Sure, they may only have 10 people working at their office - but dammit, they're going to do the best job they can. Each new patch is tested by actual players on a special test server, and the developers listen to the advice, ideas, and concerns of players. Recently there was a problem with the options available to one of the guild charters that put that charter at a disadvantage against others, and the players simply put together a petition and calmly turned it in to the dev team. Guess what? Next patch, they got their wish. No riots, no swamping the forums, and no, not even plain ol' Jagex inactivity. Just a simple request from the consumers, and a bit of brainstorming from the developers. Sure, sure, we're talking about a much smaller fanbase here. Some things that can work with a base of 15,000 players won't work with a base of 5 million. But that doesn't mean that the game's owners and developers have no alternative but to sit on their hands and grow further and further out of touch with the wants and needs of the very people that keep them in business. And that's not even mentioning other large, successful MMO companies that stay tuned to their player's wishes; I don't need to name names, you know what companies I'm talking about. I'm sorry, I've defended Jagex for far too long. There is no excuse for the way they're handling this game. They haven't fallen out of the loop, I think they broke it.

I have always stood behind Jagex in most of their updates. Sure, I may not have liked the latest generic quest or whatever - but complain? Nah. At least they were trying, and I respected them for that. Not anymore. This update has totally and completely destroyed my respect for Jagex as a whole. I haven't played regularly in over a month now, but this settles without a doubt that I will never come back to this game. Ever. This is beyond [cabbage]ty customer service and half-baked updates, and when a company falls this far out of touch with it's fans, it's past time to leave. Blizzard Entertainment just got a new customer.

Nah, this week's updates trumps that by lightyears.

Oh, I don't like pures either, and that's coming from a former hardcore pker. Most of them are arrogant little twirps with an arrogance that would put Alec Baldwin to shame. Still, that doesn't play much into this update. This doesn't only affect x p00nzor3z x, it affects each and every player that has ever used the Duel Arena. You say you don't like the ranting - sure, nobody likes meaningless rants like "oh em gee, I have to take .7 of a second longer to craft my nature runes!". This isn't one of those. This isn't some minor update that at the very best forces people to spend a marginal amount of extra time doing their favorite activity. This completely and totally destroyed an entire segment of RuneScape. If next week Jagex were to decide that woodcutting was too much of a benefit for autoers, and made every tree in the game uncuttable, would you say that all the people that woodcut shouldn't be angry? Heck, I'd be po'd, and I never woodcut. The only difference between that and this update is that this isn't woodcutting. This is pvp. Surely that's not enough of a difference to change anything, even if it does make str31001 angry.

thats rather funny because runescape hasnt got 1 billion registered players. also to the point of we dont know how to merchant. whats to know? buy low sell higher then purchased price weather it be rares weapons/armor or stock its all the same. If it's that simple, how come everybody isn't a billionaire stockbroker? It's not simple. Sure, in the basics, it's buy and sell, supply and demand, but what's more important is knowledge of the item you're investing in, the knodledge of when to invest and when to pull out - there's actually a lot more to it than just buying a rune plate for 50k and selling for 55k.

Yup. We rip people off. Just like the stock market and the entire business sector in the real world. Rares are like stocks...sometimes they're up, sometimes they're down, and the smart make money off that. Don't like it? Then guess what...don't buy stuff.

You have like 99 range on a lvl 60 character. Don't talk to me about fairness. :roll: i wish i had those stats. anyone knows defence owns pures in f2p. (im not p2p so i have no idea...). us pures dont need people with def to rub it in. when we're doing nothing but eating and hitting 0's, the last thing we need is to have it rubbed in our faces. then, to make it worse, after they're bragging and saying how much they own us, we ask them to take their armor off and they refuse. If your stats are gimp, fix them. Sheesh. Nobody forced you to be pure. Why on earth would you go pure if you know it sucks? Sorry, but don't blame them for taking off their armor. You could get some yourself, you know... :roll: Rubbing it in your face? It isn't like you were born a pure and are helpless to change it. Don't blame the combat system when you intentionally gimp yourself.

I would have expected a better response from you. I really don't care if you never stake or pk - it doesn't matter. Anybody can see that this update is [bleep]ed up beyond belief. A 3k max on a stake that decreases...any way you put it, this qualifies for the worst update in RuneScape history. It serves no purpose. Does nothing but screw up a major section of the game. RWT? -.- Joke. All they have to do is droptrade or find some other way to transfer. Sure, there are always idiots that cry "waaa...you have to take .5 of a second longer to cross the ditch when runecrafting, I'm quitting". This isn't some stupid ditch or some assist system. This isn't some minor thing that some generic kid uses to get attention in some rants forum. And yes, if this one isn't corrected, it WILL screw Jagex, because besides a few idiots that dislike pvp so much that they ignore common sense just for a chance to bash staking, you aren't going to find any supporters for this update. You will find a good chunk of the pvp sector dropping off, though. Get your head out of your [wagon] next time, ok?

Of course it doesn't make much difference. It's so obvious it doesn't. If you box someone, you'll find that def does work. When you box, you're at 0 stats in offense and defence - not +82 slash to 0 defence. What both attack and defence do, in the end, is improve how well your armor or weapon works for you. Someone in a set of rune at 50 defence is easier to hit than someone with 99 defence wearing the same gear. Now, let's say you have two people, one with 99 defence and 70 attack, wearing no armor, the other with 60 defence and 70 attack, wearing rune. Who's easier to hit? Complaining that defence is close to worthless in a no-armor duel is like complaining that attack is useless when fighting someone in full armor without a weapon. It's a pretty simple combat system, to be honest.

You know, it's funny, but I was just reading in the RSOF rants how attack is worthless, and 99 attack hits too many 0s on low def. :-w

Dang dude...your just wrong. I mean no one is ever perfect. And people need to fail/fall to learn their errors. Instead of kicking them when their down why not point out their mistake then suggest how to recover. I disagree Mello, because this has nothing to do with the faults of the op...
