It's nowhere near that simple though. I'm in general agreement with the science that warri0r has shown time and time again, although it's hard to find purely objective non-politically motivated climate change science out there, it is out there and it has been shown to you. The facts are impossible to argue with. But the fact remains that to clean up the world, with all the economic/political and social difficulties that that would entail is an absolutely massive task. So there needs to be this kind of trust and confidence in the science behind climate change which isn't being helped by showing documentaries like An Inconvenient Truth. It's probably quite a nice documentary to show in a lesson as they go, but until people have confidence that the scientists aren't doing for anything other than a presentation of the evidence, people will distrust everything about it. That's why I don't think this documentary should be shown.

I've probably rewatched those films more than any others. They're so long and rich that there's always plenty to watch. The books are great too, took me a few times round to properly finish them though. Kept getting stuck halfway through the third.

Except alcohol, as you've admitted to underage drinking. Alcohol is a drug too, and it's far worse than soft drugs like marijuana. Not strictly true, it depends entirely on quantity, quality etc. I'll agree that alcohol causes more deaths, more liver disease and all round more problems than marijuana. BUT, there is a strong link between cannabis and mental illness, and the evidence for that is strengthening all the time. I'm no expert here, but I know the strength of common weed that you buy off the street is a lot higher than it used to be, and for some kids this really does exacerbate current mental conditions or create new ones. I'm not particularly for or against cannabis, I don't use it, but if people want to use it then that's their decision, I just don't think you should present this false image of weed smoking being all rosy and smiles. It might not cause deaths like alcohol, but it is and does cause a lot of problems.

Yea, the Bruce Springsteen album is really good. I heard Chrome Horse II only one time so far, but that sounded promosing as well. But yea, a lot of older rockers are releasing a lot new material lately (Neil young did three albums in two years?). But most of it works really good. Dylan's Modern Times is very good. And what to think of Ry Cooder's last two albums ChÃÆÃâÃâávez Ravine and My Name is Buddy. I think we can count My Name is Buddy as one of the best albums released so far this year. Cat Stevens coming back after a long period, but now under the name of Yusuf Islam. Even Meat Loaf released a Bat out of Hell album last year! But I didn't dare to listen that one. :P I'll have to check out Ry Cooder's albums, sounds good. Heard some of Cat Stevens new stuff, kind of okay, a bit formulaic though. Andvari - Sigur Ros

Ah what a young fool I was back then :P For the record, i'm still not a vegetarian, and it's unlikely that I will be, but i'm starting to see some more convincing and powerful arguments for vegetarianism and against animal testing. What it boils down to is our ability to suffer, and animals ability to suffer. Any convincing argument for why humans should be treated above animals ultimately boils to specieism, and various people have argued that although animal rights activists are laughed at nowadays, so were women's rights activists hundreds of years ago, and activists for blacks. Because animals can suffer, we should always seek to minimise their suffering if we want to consider ourselves moral beings. Anyway, the arguments aren't totally clear to me, but it's all very interesting and i'm thinking a lot of it through. At the moment, i'm a hypocrite, I eat meat and agree with animal testing, even though I can see the arguments against it.

Hm, I think it's an extremely cheesy and overproduced record. Especially the first disc is extremely hard to get trough. With tracks such as No More Walks in the Wood (an extremely sweet a cappella opener), Busy Being Fabulous, What do I do with my heart (this has got to be the worst track of the album) and I don't want to hear anymore. I'm not really a fan of the "grabaguitarandsingalong" sound, especially not when it's aimed at a 40+ audience that likes to think they still have it. And the fact that it's all so obviously fake considering the egos in the band can drink eachother's blood doesn't make it much better. Just a quick cash-in using the succes of previous hits. The only track that I got trough was the titletrack. Yeah, I thought it might be a bit like that, it seems like there's too much material for them to treat it properly. I'll borrow it off a friend and give it a listen. Seems to be a thing for seminal rockers releasing new albums, what with Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young, although both their albums were fantastic. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Radiohead In Rainbows is quickly turning out to be my favourite album of theirs, Reckoner is just beautiful.
