  1. This can now be used for all situations in which people find it neccessary to respond, "Ignore list is your friend." ;)
  2. If you're ashamed you play because YOU are ashamed, not because they make you feel ashamed, then don't play. Everything you do in life should be full out and with confidence. If you enjoy playing this game for whatever the reason, then sing it proudly and if someone tries to down you for it, then they aren't good enough to be in your life. You're better than they are, and hopefully they will learn how to properly act in social situations when they are let out of their cages by their parents. I am 20 years old, I went to NYC and graduated from one of the best musical theatre conservatories in the world, and I am getting a career started and have made hundreds and hundres of friends along the way. All this time, guess what, I still play Runescape. Even with an acting career and a social life I find time to play because I enjoy it and it relaxes me. If someone asks what I do during my free time, I tell them. I play runescape. If they think that makes me nerdy or lazy or pathetic, then I just simply remind them how successful my life still is despite "being a video game nerd." Be loud. Be proud.
  3. No, most people aren't just trying to be social. In almost all cases, MOST people are trying to be competitive. I am high leveled and I could say for fact 9/10 times when a person asks me for my level in usually whatever we are doing at the time, they have already looked me up and know that mine is lower. This especially happens in skills like fishing and woodcutting. You always have the moron with 98 woodcutting going around asking everyone for their levels so they can, without being asked, retort "Cool. (Very unenthusiastically) I have 98. :D" I usually am like, "That's nice," implying I don't really care that they are higher than me in one skill. I have friends I compete against for fun sometimes, but if a player realizes they "beat the 138" in one or more levels, they automatically turn the gloat factor on, as if I have some sort of disease because they are better than me in something. In truth, it's just children with low self-esteem, sitting at home trying to make themselves feel better than others, even if that has to be through a virtual online game. I play for fun and because the game relaxes me and takes my mind away from performance stresses, not because I want to be better than a 16 year old kid living with his mother at home. :|
  4. If you want to win, you have to rush. The team who has the major control over the obelisk throughout the game usually 90% of the time wins. If you spread your team out evenly, but the other team rushes to the obelisk, THEY get the obelisk, hence THEY get your avatar weakened, hence THEY kill your avatar, hence (yes, you hate hence by now) you lose. You have to use rushing tactics to successfully win a lot of games at sw, which is why there are winning clans. They know how to win. The average person on a soul wars official world sucks and doesn't really know the best way to win. (Usually.)
  5. About 4/5 of the people who have posted here are trolls and need to get over themselves. Money has no issue with this drop. It is such a rare drop a very, VERY small percentage of people probably have ever even seen one drop, let alone obtained one through a dust devil, and furthermore, through a dust devil TASK. 10/10. Amazingly rare drop and despite the falling price still one of the most coveted drops in Runescape. Trolls, take your jerkishly low ratings and your "-100/10 because itz worthless, tbh" comments somewhere else.
  6. Been working on Ranged. 99 is banked in Red Chinchompas. So far my hatred for ranged has still not been eased, despite being able to make about 320,000 experience an hour. Damn infernal skill. Doubt I'll honestly ever use it past 99 unless it's for Armadyl Godwars, but alas, it's the only combat skill I don't have 99 in, so I need to get it. :|
  7. Nice that you've had a positive experience. I always get the opposite. People like to be obnoxious because of my combat level, mostly. Sounds ridiculous, but I can't even tell you how many times I get the idiots who will purposely try to spot steal while I am training and then when they get a few good steals in they usually say, "Haha. I'm beating a 138. What a noob." etc etc. I've honestly stopped putting faith into most of the Runescape community simply because most of it is nothing but underage kids or older people who lead sheltered lives. There are only a handful of those who play the game but don't let it become their life, and are kind to others AND keep the play mature. I've got my friends list filled with people I can have mature conversations with, who don't beg and who show support rather than malice. I encourage you to keep this kind of thread alive. It might do some of us some good to hear that not everyone who plays Runescape falls under the already mentioned categories. :|
  8. Serious? When I use super sets there doesn't seem to be ANY difference. :| Either you're extremely unlucky with combat or you're in a mind trick, because potting helps leaps and bounds for me and the difference is very visable.
  9. He's been the new head of Runescape for months now. Don't be an ignorant piece of cabbage, please.
  10. just before the graphical update No way. My memory of the older sites may be a bit wobbly in places, despite the fact I have a very good visual memory. But there is noway they were on the rs homepage jsut b4 HD came, I can remember that too clearly. The icons of that time were about tht size and of a similar ilk, but they matched the in-game skill icons and deffo did not have grey bgs And by this time any images refering to prayer with anything but the star had long gone. Dont get me wrong just I roughly remember all the site and those jsut don;t fit right. They don;t match any of the styles I recall 100%. They prayer and agility icons remind me of the olllldddd site. But then the fact farming and hunter and slayer are in their makes them too new. The thieving icon I have 100% never seen look like tht ever. Looks to me like a mash up on older icons and some made up attempting to be in the style of, but none of them really 100% right. Paw, I actually remember them quite vividly. Maybe you should just accept that at times in life the human memory can sometimes fail you, and this happens to be one of those times for you. lol. Anyway, I remember them clearly and some of the pictures that people have posted of the old layout just make me go, "Ahhhh...those were the days." And am I the only one that loves the Summoning login screen like a son-of-a-bork? I remember when they got rid of it I was bummed and to my happiness they brought it back for the Summoning Batch 2 update and I just wanted it to stay forever. lol. Edit - Does anyone have a screenshot of the old construction login page? I totally forgot there even was one until someone here mentioned it, and now I can't really remember what it looked like. I searched through google and runescape wiki and nothing. :|
  11. Actually, they're releasing a new skill this year. Mod Mark Gerhard already stated in his MMO interview that they were releasing a new skill that was like nothing ever done before in Runescape, but he didn't want to say anymore because he didn't want to spoil it or over-glorify it only to have a lot of disappointed people after it's release. So, really, this topic doesn't have any discussion. Your title is false. There will be another skill, and it will most definitely be out by the end of this year.
  12. The cape is technically a very, very VERY light blue...but congrats, none-the-less! 10/10!
  13. I'm surprised that thus far no one here has mentioned that in the MMO interview with Mark Gerhard he spoke of some huge update they were working on that was not only something they've never done before and would change a lot of gameplay in Runescape, but was a skill as well. I think we're getting a new skill with the release of this minigame. Could be wrong, but they said the skill would introduce something never seen in rs before, and those are the words they use to describe this minigame as well.
  14. I have warned you once to keep any argument or discussion of personal issues OFF my thread. If you or anyone else continues this, I will bring a mod into the picture. Keep it mature here. This isn't the general discussion forum. Thank you.
  15. Firstly, I did not try to "end" the thread when I said "/thread". What I meant was that once someone gives an accurate figure the thread has lost all meaning and discussion. Secondly, if you think I'm a wannabe mod, think again. I've been a TIF mod, and I am a pmod, so I could really give less about every idiot running around shouting "WBM@@@". If I wanted to actually end threads, I wouldn't have retired. FYI, I'm only continuing arguing this because people people continue responding to me. I know some people are thinking I should give it a break, I think I agree, it isn't worth the attention. Dude, this is sparking fairly decent discussion on how well a maximum slash defense bonus fairs against maxed slash bonuses. I don't really see how an exact statistic would end this thread at all, nor can I understand why the fact that you were a tif mod means you can tell when a discussion will end. Furthermore, the fact that you are a player moderator is no more than a petty statement which has no value here. I used to think you were quite a competent and nice player, sad to say I lost some respect for you. On topic: I actually did test this with some slight modifications, I grabbed full vestas and a statius helm and I brought dragon claws along in a bh world. I decided to rush some players with just melee. When I let them hit me their hits very rarely effected me, I would say that only 3 people out of 15 hit me with godswords and their hits were not very high, and since my bonus was far from the maximum I think its quite likely that the percentage for hits is far lower than my previous guess. Exactly, Philip. The thread hasn't lost any discussion value. In fact, you're the only one so far that has responded negatively to the topic. Everyone else is actually very interested in the topic the original poster creasted. Oh, and saying that your version of "/thread" means that someone gave an accurate figure is just meatless simply because you and I both know no one has given an accurate respresentation of the answer the author was seeking. The discussion is still going on. Truth be told, your words said it all. You thought the thread was crap and didn't see the point in discussing something that you believed "had no discussion value," but to the contrary, it has turned out many of us actually want to discuss it. If you don't feel the need to discuss it, then just don't post. If you were a mod then you should know one of the most important rules of "If you have nothing to contribute, don't post at all."
  16. rofl, i love idiotic flamers. Cute. Have a definition for flaming --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_(Internet) Still pointless. Still no discussion value. Maybe one day someone will go out to test it, give you a figure, what then? /thread It's not up to you to decide when the thread is ended. You are not the creator of the thread, nor a mod so I suggest you drop the super mod facade. I love finding these kinds of things out. I had no idea such defense to slash could even be achieved. It would actually be really funny seeing Pjers rushing someone in this setup only to find out that 3/4 of their dclaw specials aren't doing any damage. lol.
  17. Well I never thought in all my Runescape career that my least favorite skill (Agility) could someone become my, well...not least favorite skill! I'm actually on an agility kick ever since the new update and along with it, it has created a new goal for me. Since eventually I want all skills to be 90+, but that is an enormous goal from just having gotten all 85+, I am going to set a smaller goal about halfway and go for all skills 88+. Agility will be first up on the list, and then I am going to train my money making skills up to 88 after. Most likely 88 Hunter at Red Chinchompas first (and I may keep the chinchompas for 99 ranged training), and then most likely 88 Fishing after that, followed by 88 Runecrafting. I'm guessing that after these next few 88's, I should have enough to not only buy 99 Ranged, but also to buy maybe 1 or 2 more of the buyable 88s. This is just a rough plan, though. Things could change. I could get to 88 Agility and decide I am on an Agility craze and train up to 90. Who knows with me. My plans change often. Either way you'll be seeing some pretty great levels from me in the near future. :)
  18. Troacctid, thank you for the kindness. One thing I can do is respect you. We've argued on other forums of different opinions, but one thing you didn't do is bring that here, so thanks for being mature. ;) Ross_the_Knight, while I am glad you support, I'd appreciate you not bringing fights onto my thread. No matter what mweddle has created of his own, he came here to show his support. Yes, he shot down everyone other idea on this forum, and that wasn't ok, but you should just let it go. And I will take this moment to tell several people who have already made the mistake that I did not propose Astrology as a skill. I proposed Astronomy. They are two very different things. The first is the study of horoscopes and things of the like, and the second (the one I am working on) is the study of space and celestial beings and objects. As for how I am proposing it, don't worry, I won't need luck making it work. The idea is already successful between the friends I have proofreading it and helping me to fix power issues. It's nowhere near ready yet, though, so don't get too excited (or unexcited) yet.
  19. Here's something that may come as a surprise. You're spelling surprise wrong. It has an "r" before and after the "p."
  20. Troacctid, no one is going to admit they don't like exploring. And anyway, what you gave me wasn't evidence. You gave me a few quotes from posters on this thread. On Tip.It. A community known to be better than the average RSOF poster and "other" fansite member. If I went onto the official forums I could easily come back and give you just as many, if not more, quotes of people complaining about having to train to levels for quests and about how things need more "make-x" options, etc etc. I choose not to give you quotes because, like all of your arugments so far, you're telling me you have facts when you have none. What I tell you isn't fact, but opinion. My argument is my opinion is worth more than, and yeah I'll say it, yours, simply because I've been around longer, played longer and have met more variety of players because I do pretty much everything in the game. I also spend a bit of time on the RSOF, which have insane amounts of players on them, and if you went on yourself you'd know what kind of outrage ensues when people have to work on leveling skills to be able to do something. Most people want things easier. That's why we get updates. That's why Jagex is making this an upgrade year. People want to have to work less for things to get the same result. There's really no point in denying it. And even if you do it doesn't matter because it's all right in front of you.
  21. I managed to get full Agile by using Summer Pies at 85-86 Agility. It took a while for the top, but I gained a lot of experience (Including 86 agility) along the way. :)
  22. It really just sounds to me like you're doing everything in your power to make me feel arrogant for knowing my experience in the game exceeds the average player's experience. Well, it's not working. I think it's truthful and blunt and a lot of people here can't handle that. I get it. Have your opinions of me and of the game. At the end of the day no one's won anything. But I do suggest you talk a waltz through the Runescape Official Forums once in a while just to see exactly how many "I want it easy and fast," kinds of people there are. There's more than the people who are grateful for challenges, I'll tell you that.
  23. That video was one of the most helpful things I have ever seen. I've always hated not having placeholders for the books but could never figure out how to do it!
  24. Laymen's Terms: I have more experience and knowledge of the game. There is a broader spectrum of the game's players I have met than a lot of people. Experience = knowledge = my arguments retain more water than someone with less of each. Unlike some people on this thread I don't spew out thoughts without making sure I know what I am talking about first. I'm sorry I had to dumb down my thoughts for you. I get the feeling you saw a wall of text and you turned off to reading it. That's ok though now that I've made it clearer for you.
