THE KILA GUIDE TO KILLA TREASURE IN THE WILDERNESS.
This topic has been cleaned. The rules of this forum state It is not necessary to rate the guide or insult the author. If you don't like the guide, make suggestions as to what might improve it. It would be okay to say something like, "You might add that prayer and teleporting are generally frowned upon in the pk community." But it is the author's right to choose not to make changes. (I myself agree that the game allows you to use all advantages available - they are as much a part of the game as pk'ing.) Please be kind to others and behave yourselves. Rule-breaking posts will be referred to the moderator team for disciplinary action. Thanks.

New Way to Make Planks
Many people have been discussing the balloon to the Sawmill as a new way to make planks. This brief topic is acceptable for the player-made guides forum.

Equippable Items (AOW Discussion)
This topic has just been added to allow users to post new items to DroolMAN's equippable items list. Please note that the main guide in the AOW is no longer maintained as DroolMAN has left the world of Runescape. Please do not post anything other than new Runescape items - remarks and discussion will be removed. If you see a problem with something, PM the poster.

Star Trek reference
Tsk. It's not swiping. It's paying homage to (that means "honouring" lol) beloved stories etc. Previous examples are Monty Python (Lumberjack Leif in Miscellania's examine is "He's a lumberjack and he's okay.") and some HP Lovecraft stuff in the Slug Menace quest. SPOILER ALERT: I made a note of all the Trek references I saw (there may be more - I've only really watched TOS and TNG). First and most obviously is his nearly bald pate with a fringe of white/gray hair, 4 pips on the collar (these were quite visible), and the french name of Auguste (versus our own Jean-Luc Picard). He says, "I want to explore new frontiers!" You (the player) say, "And go where no man has gone before?" If you don't have the materials, he says "Failure is not an option." I didn't get the exact quote here, but after the test flights he says something like: we shall meekly go ... no, no, we shall cautiously go. Before the flight he says: ...if we run into tribb ... er, trouble After the flight he says, "We have travelled in a way that no man has travelled before! The next step will be to go where no men have gone before." He also says, "I am considering starting a balloon enterprise." He does call you "number one" as nephite posted - I just missed copying down that quote.

Formal Garden Layout Guide
Your pic is super, thanks very much. Um. If it's not too much of a financial sacrifice (lol), could you plant something different in the two spots? And then number them A, B, C and D or make them match whatever the stupid build spot ID is in the game, lol? That would be super.

Converting Paint BMPs to GIFs and Making Transparencies
If you mean Imagemajick, it uploads a 400K BMP for conversion pretty quickly (it doesn't keep your pictures for very long - it's meant for you to download the finished product yourself). If you mean photobucket, it probably has similar issues to imageshack. Only nice thing about photobucket is that your pics are in your very own album that you can revisit any time you want. I haven't used imageshack, but I hear of people losing links to their images? I wouldn't know, honestly.

How to crop pictures! -~-~- Fast and easy!
Thanks Kill_Life. Although most regular Gallery users already know this sort of thing, hopefully it will help players who are new to graphics and just want to post some simple Runescape pictures. Gallery users, please be kind :). And if someone wants to post info on how to use the Paint "handles" to crop, it would be very much appreciated.

The 'runescape news' board
I'd just as soon see a link to the main P2P (or F2P) forum topic for discussion (after the P2P mods sort out the usual "no you weren't first" topics, lol). That way users could find the discussion topic quickly, and it wouldn't flood the news board. After all, some update discussions get to be quite lengthy. Just my two cents.

Converting Paint BMPs to GIFs and Making Transparencies
You are correct, except that older versions of paint don't have the PNG option. I tried GIMP and couldn't make heads or tails out of it - I couldn't even move the cursor. A bit too complicated for the graphically-challenged such as myself. This guide really isn't intended for the regular users of this gallery, since most of you have nice programs and advanced artistic abilities. It's posted here because it's about pictures and thus doesn't belong elsewhere, lol. Hopefully other forums will link to it so that software-deprived users will have a place to look. :D If someone has step-by-step instructions for how to use paint.net or irfanview or whatever to do these things, I'd be absolutely delighted, especially if the process is simpler.

Converting Paint BMPs to GIFs and Making Transparencies
If you wish to make pictures with transparent areas (such as Runescape items, or for the Bestiary, or whatever purpose), this post describes a method using the Imagemajick studios website http://redux.imagemagick.org/MagickStud ... Studio.cgi (please note that Tip.It does not officially recommend this site and, as with any website, use it at your own risk. However, I personally use it all the time.) Items below in italics are *only* if you are also making the pic transparent. Again, these instructions are for people using MSPaint or another simple program that cannot make high-quality transparent pictures. 1) Save the pic as a BMP. Use your paint tools to make the parts that you want transparent a good contrasting colour that is not used in the image, such as neon pink or neon green (don't use white). Crop your picture at least 1-pixel larger than the object for best results. Save the picture again. 2) Surf to the Imagemajick Studio website http://redux.imagemagick.org/MagickStud ... Studio.cgi and click the Browse button. 3) Find your cleaned BMP picture on your computer and hit enter. 4) Click the View button. You will now see a page with fourteen tabs at the top, and your cleaned BMP picture below. a) Scroll down to see the "Optional Paint Attributes". B) In the Fuzz box, type 5999. Make sure to delete the % character. c) In the Method box, click the down arrow and select "Floodfill". In the Paint Type box, click the down arrow and select "Matte". d) Move your cursor over your picture - you will see that it turns into crosshairs ("+" sign). Click on the large area that you want to transparentize. e) The page will reload showing you what you have done - the area should now look white. If you accidentally clicked in the wrong place, you can use your browser's Back button to go to the previous page and try again. f) If there are additional spaces that need to be transparentized (such as a hole in the middle of an inventory object), click one, wait until the page is automatically updated, then click the next. If you make a mistake and click part of the image, just back up your browser to the last good picture. g) When you have finished transparentizing your picture, go to the next step. 5) click the Output tab at the top of the page. 6) In the Format: box, scroll down to gif and select it. (Other output formats are available, but do *NOT* choose png - the Internet Explorer web browser will not show your image as transparent.) 7) Click the Output button below. 8) The display says "Click on any image to view or precede your click by the shift key to download it to your local area." If you view it, you can then right click it to save to your hard drive for upload to an image hosting site. Now back to familiar waters. Upload your pic to an image hosting site (such as imageshack or photobucket or others). If you wish to post it in the forums, create your post and insert your image by pasting in the url provided by the hosting site, highlighting the whole url, and clicking the Img button in the posting interface. I hope this helps those who wish to make transparent pictures but don't have fancy software.

Converting Paint BMPs to GIFs and Making Transparencies
These instructions are for people using MSPaint or another simple program that cannot make high-quality pictures. For fellow MSPaint users like myself, please allow me to introduce you to a great website for converting BMP pictures, Imagemajick studios For making a pic transparent, see the second post in this thread, Now back to familiar waters. Upload your pic to an image hosting site (such as imageshack or photobucket or others). If you wish to post it in the forums, create your post and insert your image by pasting in the url provided by the hosting site, highlighting the whole url, and clicking the Img button in the posting interface. I hope this helps those who wish to share pictures but don't have fancy software.

Formal Garden Layout Guide
We don't normally score guides as far as I know. However, I am interested in pursuing this info for addition to our Construction Guide, if indicated. 1. Could you please explain to me just a little bit? If planting one colour of flowers makes all four circled spots the same, then why do you need to plant two of the bagged items? 1b. Oh, I think I get it. You are saying that you only plant a total of FOUR plants in this garden, and they are replicated diagonally across the garden. Tell me if that's not right. 2. When you say "square", do you mean the square marked on your picture, or do you mean the Formal Garden "room" square?

Idle On IRC Rule...? ~ REMOVED
Okay, I'll make a fool out of myself and speak from the other side. When I go into the IRC channel, there are 25+ people supposedly "there", but there's often nobody talking, or maybe 2-4 people at most. It's bizarre - like getting onto a school bus and finding that 80% of the seats are occupied by tightly-wrapped mummies. Lightning explained to me once that she is running scripts on behalf of Tip.It, so that's why *she's* logged in. There are usually a couple of mod/operators there with half an ear open. Some are marked AFK. Would it be possible for you folks who are idling to change your name to AFK like the others? It would just be nice for noobs (like me) to know how many actual, live people are around to talk to ... Just my two cents.

Guide to Agility from Lvl 1 to 70 and Beyond!
I've removed the words "(aowsubmission)" from your title. All topics on this board are assumed to be submitted for AOW consideration - the ones with "AOW discussion" in the titles are already on the AOW and the topics here are to discuss those guides.

How to crop pictures! -~-~- Fast and easy!
I'll add it, ty for info. This depends on how old your version of Paint is. Older versions of Paint don't do PNG at all. JPGs from Paint are very fuzzy because they are low quality (high quality JPGs can be made by other programs). GIFs made directly from Paint are also low quality, and lose tons of colors making them look bizarre. Thus the use of imagemagick (see http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=564049 ) to convert your high quality BMPs directly to GIF (or PNG or whatever). The result is a nice, crisp picture suitable for the forums and even the Tip.It website! ============================ BTW, Kill_Life, I've been advised that this guide (although superb, of course) can't go in the AOW. :( However, it was suggested that it go into the Gallery where it might also be added to their tutorials list. I know the Help and Advice forum sticky would likely also add a pointer to it. And possibly we could add one here, perhaps in the stickied "how to write a guide" guide.

3 ways for fast nat crafting without abyss! *now with times*
A well-written guide, recommended by Crewbie vlad_the_old as well. Comparing times for a series of runs using each safe method would be good info. Not sure if this needs to be in the AOW, but it's a very good player guide and will definitely help people. We'll be keeping an eye on this one. ;)

~Flaming On Tip.it Forums~
Lol. I was all set to lock this guide due to the title, but on reading it, it has very good intentions. It won't go into the AOW regardless, but it's not terrible. Here's some suggestions to improve it, if you like: - Cut and paste it into a program like Word to check spelling, grammar and spacing. - Search the internet for the original guides on "netiquette". Here's a wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_war# ... of_flaming - Change the title to "Forum Flaming" something. (just my opinion)
