  1. I really despise using guides now. There was a time when I used guides for just about everything, and frankly, I didn't learn anything when using a guide. Whenever I wanted to go back to that specific activity, I had to check the guide again because I forgot how to do it. I find it much more fun and productive just to jump into things and figure out my own methods instead of conforming to someone elses. Afraid of dying and loosing items? Just don't bring your good gear at first, and maximize your survivability instead of efficiency. Efficiency comes from the refinement of your technique.
  2. Thought I'd bump this topic with dragon drop #3 :) So yeah, I winned at the demons again. GF. I didn't even use one brew on that particular demon :P
  3. What do you mean nice story? do you even know what everquest is? I remember being on call for my guild to do the cleric epic, we had to get up at 3 am to slay a dragon that only spawned once a week and like 15 guilds all had people camped in the zone waiting for it to spawn. This game (questwise) is a joke, its wicked easy. IF you think the new runescape quest an example of a hard quest you are a mmorpg noob. Most of RuneScape's quests are designed for solo play, which is why I like it. I hate having to get a huge team together on other MMO's just to do a quest. And I'd really hate having to compete with a ton of clans over a single, stupidly-slow spawning mob.
  4. Bah, again they release something and have to change it days later. They should really reconsider an open test server. We tend to find a lot of glitches and unintended things in their updates mere hours after they're released, I think it would save them a lot of embarrassment if they let us take part in the testing phase. And a lot of money on the apparently useless QA team they have. Yeah I know if they did that it could spoil the updates for people. That's why they could just add a new rule that outlaws spoilers, punishable by perma ban from the test server and possibly further consequences for the account. I'm sure if they made it a rule fansites like tif would be more than happy to enforce it.
  5. You're somewhat right about it fixing a lot of the junk trading, but you still have problems with items that were once tradeable on the GE going into the junk trading realm thanks to some freak price fluctuation/price manipulation; which is why removing regular trading would be a good idea. Items that already have a reasonable price couldn't jump to a higher price overnight because of manipulators since they have nowhere else to make their trades but the GE. You know how items that are going up in price are unbuyable on the GE currently? This wouldn't be quite so much the case if it weren't for junk trading. As for RWTing with new items, I can't see it happening. Either the buyer or seller would have to acquire one of the items in the first place, and then they'd have to hope that nobody else was selling for a lower price or buying for a higher price at that present moment. When I try to buy something for max GE that is selling for mid, I get it at mid, and get the difference in cash back. I can't see how this would be any different. It's relatively much easier to Xfer in BH anyway...
  6. If this happens Jagex really needs to set better prices for new items. Setting dragon claws at 150k for example was utterly ridiculous considering they're probably a rarer drop than the 10m shards and are a lot more useful and desirable. I honestly wouldn't want anyone to be forced to sell something at an unreasonable price so that the price can go up, just because Jagex is apparently incapable of predicting what the prices will be. A good idea I think would be, for the first week, let players trade the items at ANY price they want. Then after the first week, set the price at the average of what everyone is trading them for. If they would do that, I'm all for removing junk trading.
  7. To some extent, rule 7. I think if Jagex isn't going to make the gameplay in RuneScape more convenient themselves, we should be able to write programs to do that ourselves. I've played an MMO before where macroing was allowed as long as you didn't AFK macro. It was very nice to be able to avoid so much of the painful clicking. ...Or they could actually go through the game and remove some of the excessive clicking. A prime example; prayer training with a gilded altar. I really hate having to right click "use" on every bone and click back over on the altar. It's such an unnecessarily painful process, especially when you're doing it for an hour or more at a time.
  8. Here's a pic for the demon, best I could do :?
  9. I don't get offended by it because it's completely untrue. I know levels don't nessecarily equal maturity, but they are certainly some indication of game experience. When I do get called it; rarely; I just laugh. It happens most often, unsurprisingly, when I play FoG. "Omg, running away at 134 combat, sad noob". While they're icing/ddsing me. Good lulz there. Better lulz when I barrage+dragon claw them. :P
  10. Not like a dragon dagger can't :P. Max is 43x2, so 43*4=172, much more than enough. Not to mention it's more accurate, poisonable, and you can wear a defender. Sure, claws are better for pvp, but they're not ALL that much better. EDIT: actually calculated that wrong, a single hit can hit 43, so it's actually in the region of ~350. Dragon dagger is only slightly more accurate (although I'd argue that the claw spec is more accurate, I seem to hit a lot more with it). And you have to remember, the way the claw spec works, you'll be hitting higher numbers a lot more often. 40-40 hits with a dragon dagger are very rare, but I've been hitting in the 60-80 neighborhood a lot more often than I have with the dagger. You guys have to remember though, it's a spec weapon, so you have to carry it in addition to your whip or whatever else, which means you can't protect item it. With a lowly DDS this isn't bad, but with dragon claws currently having a street value in the millions, it's not something I think you'd be prepared to loose so lightly.
  11. You can actually right click on the guy during the cutscene. It's the V guy, whose full name is Vasador. I doubt that's Saradomin. Otherwise you'd become a God just by touching the stone, too, wouldn't you? Yeah you get your stats insanely boosted and gain a crapload of exp, but you don't become a God.
  12. That quest was perhaps the spookiest quest I've ever done. I think the reason for that was at the time, my friend played RS, and he's one of those guys that likes to tell a lot of tall tales to impress people. I could tell you some of them, but you'd probably laugh at me for ever believing him. They're utterly ridiculous. And I also read the "Spirit of the Pass" story before doing the quest. I guess if you want to keep your sanity during that quest you should treat it like any other quest. And get your agility level up. (I did it at the bare minimum req, talk about going insane )
  13. God, could you people please truncate those quote chains down to what you actually need? :wall: It's really getting tiresome. OT: I honestly can't fathom why someone would drop the armor in the first place. Anyone with any questing experience at all should think "Hey, I could probably use this as a disguise!", and perhaps check the stats on it before automatically assuming it was rubbish. Considering you need all current quests to do this quest, you should really know better. Yeah nobody tells you this, but this is a grandmaster quest, you shouldn't have to be told everything. By the way, at least in the case of the elite black armor, you can get it as a drop from the knights again, but it's rare after the initial drop... as it should be considering it has stats comparable to rune (though severely lacking in crush def).
  14. Hmm, since they're releasing a whole two new diaries, we'll have a total of five... maybe they'll finally release the achievement diary cape? And anyone else thinking that the reward for the fremenik one sounds like our workers will be able to gather pure essence? I hope so. The new hairstyles sound interesting, too. Hope they'll have some awesome styles in there.
  15. I see what you're trying to say, and I agree. But if that is the case this belongs in rants. And you need to develop it more because right now it's just spam.
  16. Yup. You're not actually supposed to be able to kill them. Your max hit on them normally is 20, but my spec hit 20-10 and... yeah.
  17. They're spies working for dark squall aka Solus Magus. During the quest you capture one of them and interrogate him, which is how you find out who he's working for, thus advancing the plot. On a sidenote, I managed to kill one of them with a dragon claw spec. Heheh...
  18. Dream Mentor itself is a requirement, so the lowest anyone can be is 85. Yep, remember, the guy from dream mentor dies in this new quest. Obviously he wouldn't be prepared to die for you if he was still cowering in that cave.
  19. I'd sell my elite black armor and dragon claws I luckily got as a drop from the demons; I'd really love to rip those world 2 narbs off. Stupid trade limit... Is there actually any way of gathering mills worth of junk very quickly? Or is the concept of time = money just completely foreign to these junk traders?
  20. I don't know; depends on how rare of a drop it actually is. I might have gotten insanely lucky for all I know. It's better than the DDS as a spec weapon imho, but I'm not sure if that justifies it being worth so much. It's total rubbish as a regular weapon.
  21. I lent it to someone who hadn't done the quest so yes, you can wield them without the quest. Oddly though she said she didn't have a special attack bar on them. So it's possible that you just can't use the spec without the quest; which, I guess kinda makes it useless because it's a spec weapon. That wasn't exactly my point. The point was I was consistently hitting at around my maximum hit. With a DDS, even with 99 attack and strength I will still, annoyingly, get crappy specs like 5-7 or something. But with this crappy specs happen far, far less often (again, when they actually hit; not counting the 0s); certainly less often enough to justify having only two specs whose maximum damage is only slightly higher that of a DDS + defender.
  22. I think I overreacted about the D claws; slightly. It seems that whenever you hit all 4 of them the first 3 add up to the 4th hit. So it really can't do any more damage than a DDS spec. HOWEVER, it's much more powerful than a DDS spec. Whereas with a DDS you get a lot of bad specials, with this that doesn't seem to happen very often. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a single time where all 4 splats hit where I didn't hit for 40-50+ damage.
  23. Peronix replied to Ajdinp's topic in Help and Advice
Wow, that 3 hits add up to the 4th is seeming like it's true. I've screened a lot of specs (didn't save them) where all 4 hits hit and it was true for all of them, except for one which was one off. However, the guide on runescape.com says "4 hits with a high chance of inflicting a lot of damage". Wheras with DDS I seem to get a lot of bad specials, not only do I hit a lot higher a lot more often with the D claws, but it seems like they're a lot more accurate, too. Like I said, I was consistently destroying my opponents.
  24. I'd love to... when the GE prices adjust. CS'd Dclaws = fail. :P
  25. I wanted dragon claws, couldn't get them through the GE, so I attempted to get them as a drop. I succeeded. [hide=][/hide] Been testing them at the duel arena for a while now. They're so overpowered it's not even funny. Seriously, you thought barrage+dds combo was bad? This is much, much worse. They're more accurate, They have more str, They have every bit as much def as dds+defender, and they essentially unleash 2 dds specials in one. Needless to say, I've been quite the center of attention when I have these babies on. That's not a good thing in runescape :P Anyway, rate/hate.
