I like the idea of using a scarab for the summoning skill symbol. something like these designs. "The scarab is the symbol of Ra, the Sun God of the Egyptians. In his scarab aspect, Ra was called Khepera. Scarab beetles lay their eggs in dung, which they roll into a ball and roll into a hole. The Egyptians equated this with the movement of the sun and its daily resurrection. The opening and closing of the scarab's colorful wings symbolized night and day." and i'll say gold with red trim for the cape.

With a new skill coming, what is going to be sought after...
Vincent replied to fusion77's topic in General Discussion
what would be cool would be if they didnt explain how to do it til like the 2nd week after its release. :P depending on the levels, lower the summoning lvl= easier to obtain objects; higher the summoning lvl=harder to obtain objects. of course there will no doubt be summoning related items that cant be gotten before the skill's release. i'm hoping for summoning armour and new treasure trails. i would consider scavaging the wilderness for possible related items after its release. wonder how much or if this will change monster drops or if or how much more bank space we'll get. i really see the tower of life as an intro lvl quest which may be expanded and put to more use? same with the elemental workshop. perhaps the kudos isle will contain higher lvl objects/monsters used for summoning. of course we dont know how it will work. i would think regular bones and ashes for lower lvled/mid lvl use. buckets, pots, always good to stock up on those, that and soft clay. the bulk i think used for higher lvls will be new items. crushed nests also possibly used, swamp tar, ogleroots, suqah tooth, odd things like cadavaberries, goutweed, hops, flowers, berries, belladonna, bittercap mushrooms. gorak claw, iron sheets, star flower, dramen branch, blurite, draynor manor cabbage, vials of water, ughanki meat, karamja rum, strange fruit, swamp toads, toadlegs, sito foil, snake weed, king worms, mort myre fungi, mort myre pear, mort myre stem, adrigal, vocencia moss, rogue's purse, digsite items and museum stuff, nettles, mithril seeds, silver rod dust, vampire dust, gems. spider eggs, janger berries, kebbit teeth, limpwurt root, ground dragon scale or not ground, nail beast nails, fat snail meat, thin snail meat, silver dust, goat horn, bird meat, beast meat, slimy eel, cave eel, lava eel, player made brews, oomlie meat, squirk juice, lean snail, rainbow fish, karamwanji, garlic, crabmeat, fishcake, stuffed snake, mud pie, combination runes, glass orbs, bonemeal, buckets of ectoplasm, all hunter furs, bear fur, green, red, black, orange salamanders, bird feathers, pure essence, all runes. that should keep you busy, train your hunter and hope for the best. -
stop ruining threads - if u want to complain...

shouldnt be too surprised. tipit is infested with lamers that glorify people like duke freedom, r2pleasant, durial321, hackers, scammers, and dueling cheats, rc pkers the list goes on. and themselves of course. i too tire of reading the same whiny dribble from the same jerkwads but they are the loud minority. this forum is gaining in similarity to the rsof with the dulled mentality of the forum mods. tipit is cycling through some changes, it's now more about them and their [bleep]es, than it is about runescape. agree with you dacona. =D> -
that can be annoying but to avoid rewarding the rc pker with 60k, take 1 dose of prayer potion and if you can, a 1 click teleport, there are house teleports (any clay teletablet), elf crystal, ectophial, enchanted lyre, karajama gloves 3, ruby necklace enchanted, camulet, rum, oldak's teleport spheres, rune teleports. but even if you do die and lose your pouches, the rcpker wont get your glory amulet if you drink the 1 dose and use protect item. always take that 1 dose, and only drink it if you're attacked and the instant teleport doesnt work, then protect item.

yeah and there are those people that will say stuff like "my car wont start, so meet me at the park" and then there they are, with their car, that runs fine, at the park. or they'll try any form of lying and manipulation to get you away from a public place and/or for you to go alone. it's a bad bad idea and there are those people just waiting for people that would take the risk. do not do this.
-
it's a bad idea. for anyone under 18 to go anywhere and meet someone they met online without notifying their parents is just asking for problems. big time problems! real world problems. even if you are over 18, you just dont know who you'll meet or what they'll try to do. it's really bad news. if you had to, take another adult or parent with you, but it's just a bad idea. and always meet people in a public place where there are lots of people. no matter what you think, how responsible you are or how much you think you can take care of yourself, you just never know and better safe then sorry. and i can just imagine how grief stricken your parents would be if you did end up hurt or seriously injured in any way and them trying to find clues to where you went etc. just a terrible idea that should NOT be encouraged. and there are people that would take advantage of something like this and would hurt you so i'm going to say absolutely do NOT even consider this and if you did never go alone and take with you at least 1 adult and always meet in a public place where there's lots of people. again, it's just a horrible idea so do not meet up with anyone you've met online if you're under 18. and even if you are over 18 do not do this unless you take very serious precautions and even then i do not recommend it at all. and i think it is irresponsible to post about this without considering all the unknowns and real possiblities and consequences. i would hate, very much, for anyone to be lured by a complete stranger and then injured or worse. that is a real possiblity nowadays and dont take that risk. there are people out there that will take advantage of those that do. and i think this belongs in off-topic or deleted from the boards.

Does Summoning mean a NEW high Combat Level?
Vincent replied to kieranread's topic in General Discussion
one thing that's particularly interesting about the upcoming skill summoning is the length of time spent on developing it in comparison to the other newer skills. just look at the timeline in the development diary. part 1 of the development diary says summoning will be used for combat and non-combat. so i wonder if it would be possible to make a pure summoning account? mage lvls may be required or attack lvls? or range or strength, defence lvls? to use summoning. but it may not be like that. a high summoning lvl, i would think, would give a person a combat advantage; so it's very possible it could raise your combat lvl. will summoning use runes? a new rune? a new spellbook? will summoning stand on its own as a combat skill? or is it dependent on other combat skills for using. these are all questions that will eventually be answered. i think it's a real possibility that it will give you combat levels if you train it, since it does affect combat; like prayer, magic, range, defence, attack, hits, strength, so, i'd say it will lvl combat if you train it, but it's hard to say since we dont know exactly how it will "help you in a variety of combat and non-combat ways", will they fight alongside you? among other things, i think that's a definate yes. if i had to guess i'd say it will level combat, but maybe like require 16 levels for a new combat lvl up or something like that. i want a summoning cape  -
Overall: Zezima (for overall pretty much dominates the #1 spot) Attack: Aclaw (never heard of him until recently) Defence: Miles15 (never heard of him until recently) Strength: Fir3g0d (doesnt matter to me but he trains strength so...) Hit points: Miles15 Ranged: Enrix E B (watched the battle between him and yuffie88 for topspot awhile ago) Magic: Magicwannabe (dont know him, but that's a lot of xp :D) Prayer: Bobcow64 (never heard of him, but that's a lot of xp) (i think yuffie88 should get some credit as prayer great though) Cooking: too many names idk but i think eve was 1st with 200m Wood Cut: The Power 7 (never heard of him but he is #1 rank) Fletching: too many names (neoxxx got 200m first i think) Fishing: 777knight777 (#1 rank, dont know him though, aled alig and crowation were former #1's) Fire Making: Empror1 (perrenial topspot for fm) Crafting: Amarajah (ariadna, ltangel also popular former #1 ranks) Smithing: Priscilla44 (amazing xp for sure. yankeeyank1, musashi and syzyguy also popular smiths) Minning: Lover Romeo (huge lead in xp, emmajay former #1 rank) Herblore: Halw gnun (amazing amount of xp and perennial #1 rank) Agility: Lover Romeo (dakini sword and inyusha (sp) were top spot) Thieving: i think herbaman gets top spot for thieving Slayer: havent followed this at all and not familiar with the people in topspots. Farming: Pow012000 and season are the 2 people i've seen high ranked when i paid attention, also gostheadsdad. they must really like farming dont know what to say. i like it but, not that much... Runecraft: Larryr (i guess he still plays?, he's been #1 runecrafter for a very long time, i think Kale Stille was 1st to 99. Hunter: Momeydragon (never heard of any of them, of the top ranked, though Zazima Souck is currently ranked #8 with 66,666,666 xp which is kind of funny. Construction: Fredmcgary (him i guess as current, chessy also popular and cursedyou as first to 99) (i guess these are the top scorers as of now, but imo i'll add the names i think of when i think of hiscorers and the skills.) done.

i think it's coming and i hope it does. it would bring more people to compete. i temple trek a lot and i would like to see that in hi-scores for minigames also maybe 5 points for path 3 smiddi. 4 for jayene path 3 etc. i also thought prizes meant there would be prizes similar to castle wars for the duel tournaments, it's not a bad idea for certain ranks to be able to buy items, like the white knight's armoury or Barb assault, for all mini-games. non-tradeable items though, or not for some, idk. gnome ball hi-scores :D brimhaven agility tickets collected and new prizes for ranks, barrows chests opened, games room prizes and small bets, gnome restaurant tasks completed more points for harder tasks and a shop for new prizes, even a tracking of treasure trails completed 3 points for lvl 3 2 for lvl 2 1 for lvl 1 etc. with a shop with prizes available at certain lvls like an armoury type thing. so, a combination of new rewards and hi-scores for the mini-games would be a lot of fun and a good addition. =D> and i dont see anything wrong with it at all and would be more incentive for some. new rewards could include items that, when worn, would allow entrance to new training areas or additions to minigames, and some of these rewards, when worn, could give greater prizes or benefits while playing the minigame.

Possibility of disallowing gifts / uneven trades?
Vincent replied to ego_scorpion's topic in General Discussion
those arent friends. those are people you are taking advantage of. jagex doesnt have the time or resources to follow all unbalanced trades. they track the trades of bots and goldfarmers and people suspected. nothing new. as it is i'd suspect jagex has widespread changes in mind upon introduction of the grand exchange so, we shall see. -
Will there be any impact of duel arena update on rares?
Vincent replied to Freesia's topic in General Discussion
i think this is all a moot point. since next week they will make discontinued items untradeable. the writing is on the wall. i mean if jagex will go to the lengths they did with limits on staking, then making dc items untradeable is not far behind. i think many are starting to realise this and selling thier dc items while they can. -
qeltar get a life. :anxious: :P but seriously, i didnt read the whole thing, probably wont. but anyway jagex is doing what it can to clean up their game and i think the duel arena is fine, it's a fun part of the game and the new tournaments are also fun. that's why we play games, to have fun. and while we play runescape to skill or gain items, jagex has a game they play and that is combatting bots and gold farmers, look at it from their perspective. killing two birds with 1 stone. making the game more fun and more about fun and limiting duel arena scamming and cheats. jagex are the stewards of their game and they want the game to be fair and not a bastion for cheats and scammers. and it's one step and there will be more. if you really want to criticise, maybe compare jagex's non-megacorporate actions to those of the megacorporate congolomorates and their marketing and video gaming styles.

i think this deserves a bump.

i like rune(t) or rune(g) the zamorak kite is nice though maybe get something that goes with your crest if you're a member, otherwise any god armour or (t) or (g) is good.

this is a good guide and you'd be surprised how many kelp you can collect just in the time it takes for your herbs to grow and there is huge profit from making battlestaves.

high lvl skills or the best items in the game? which is more important to you? do you strive for high levels in skills or strive more for items? i know most people will say both but ask yourself, which is more important to you? what can wait to be bought and what can wait to be trained etc.?

The highest ranked people with NO 99's!!
Vincent replied to ineedcash12's topic in General Discussion
dont look now but, you guessed it, renez went up 23 lvls. so their stats are now all 89. something to watch anyway. :boohoo: and toad bucket also gained a ton of lvls so did amberrose34 and toadkiller d he's got 98 farming and 2070 total and still no 99's. -
i think i remember a long time ago you posting a thread about how you were new to members and wanted advice on quests etc. and your progress on the quests back then was amazing. how long ago was that anyway? grats on 99 magic.

the cat has a new "event". it says, "i think its feeling lonely". i know people are going to say it was already there... but what was there was "i think it needs some attention". that phrase is still there but there's also a new phrase "i think its feeling lonely" is new. I'm 99% sure of this.

F2P? P2P? P2C? [Acdcfantony breaks 1000+ Views]
Vincent replied to Sinless_Hero's topic in General Discussion
i think people see others complaining and criticising and that gives them liscence (permission or encouragement) to do the same. i noticed this trend awhile ago. as well, people are often resistant to change and dont like adapting or learning new things. ultimately, more often than not, they later see the value in the changes. i remember when slayer was introduced, people were vehemently against it and same with a new design for the rs frontpage etc. same thing actually when rs2 was introduced, it's just some people's natural reaction to any change. i've said it before but jagex does pay attention to rants and at the same time, the revenues that are increasing help to put that in its proper perspective. but i agree that the amount of pettiness and the disrespectful nature of many of the criticisms is a result of allowing too much and people getting to used to pushing that envelope and the more people do it the more likely others will feel justified doing the same. thankfully it seems jagex has the thick skin required to continue adding new features and new content despite the great likelihood that new features and content will be thoroughly criticised before even being tried or gotten used to and in some cases before the update actually exists. -
n64jive those are some really mature insightful comments you made. when reading about this topic, i thought of some things. the nature vs nurture argument. how someone is affected by the things they do and experience (nurture), or rather whether more weight should be given to the fact that they are drawn to those things and experiences by their already established personality (nature). of the two, which decides what the outcome will be? the person's personality or their behaviours? does one influence or affect the other? if someone's behaviour is harmful, yet they continue despite it causing harm that's bad... the question is which characteristic is more consequential? the individual's personality or their behaviour leading up to a negative consequence? would the same behaviour in another person lead up to the same or similar negative consequence? or is the negative consequence a result of behaviours based on a common personality? :-s

"Runescape : an education that kids don't need?"
Vincent replied to supanova's topic in General Discussion
the article queltar wrote i disagree with but it was a thoughtful article. it's not jagex's fault though, i'll elaborate on that... i want to make a few points. hmm what's wrong with runescape? is it the young children that are playing a video game? no. or is it the mean spirited hurtful callous jerks in the game that are so vile? yeah. so, should we ban the children or the jerks? you choose the children playing a game, i say more people in the community should condemn the behaviour of the jerks, not the game playing of children, which is like bees to honey. i mean really. who plays video games? answer: kids do. how complicated is that? yes jagex is doing what it can but the community needs to step up and the young children playing are not the vile and despicable. it is the older kids that bully and decieve, are these young bullys beyond help, no, they're still young and need a better example; their behaviour should be condemned for what it is though but the community should definately be critical of the cause of the problem vile and despicable behaviour and not criticise those that are a victim of that. makes no sense to ignore the bad behaviour and instead say that the game, which is fun, should be denied to those that are younger because of that. it's like saying the seedy people hanging out at the movie theater is justification for not going to see a movie. and that's where parenting comes in. if a young child works hard at earning some stuff and someone decieves them that could be very hurtful and traumatizing to some degree and it's the parent's role to edify and encourage not misplace blame or be critical and be supportive and a emotional support and redirect and cheer up etc. and those people that criticise miniclip players and younger players are themselves extremely immature and are to quick to sterotype and generalise people and that is a problem and those people need to focus more on themselves than what other people are doing . -
Jagex - Launching two new games next years.
Vincent replied to kieranread's topic in General Discussion
if you think about it. look how runescape started. very small at first and grew and was added to with updates. i figure these titles would be similar in how they grew/grow. so, dont expect a full game like runescape with a lot to do at first, more just a new mmporg that is starting out and will be updated as it goes; and will develop as its playerbase grows, that's what i'd expect but maybe they will be more complete than i expected, but i dont think so. the big thing about these games is they will probably be a similar leveling structure/addictablity features/chat systems/technologies/minigames/music etc. so that people will play it in a similar way such as runescape. anyways it's good news they're expanding and it makes sense, since they do have more capital and a fan/player base as well as great technolgies and experience. i would expect these games to be entertaining. and i wouldnt be surprised if there were f2p servers as well if not exclusively when introduced. and maybe runescape members will be able to play the beta. we'll just have to wait and see. -
i think it will be a new continent with a huge number of new monsters, items, and possibly even a new skill or skills, and may include the blood and soul altars, as well as some quests for the area, and i also think there may be dragonkin. and i think magic is set for a huge update since melee has been getting a ton lately same with range so huge mage update and summoning. that's a lot of new content.

Do we need a new membership option? Hourly ...
Vincent replied to truffoo's topic in General Discussion
it's a bad idea. for 1 it's not worth the extra time and expense of customer service and transaction fees to cover each payment. there's a reason for keeping records and transaction "reciepts" etc. what your idea would do is create 31 times the work and no profit because the fees would not cover the amount of time spent and the transaction fees associated. and 5 dollars a month is barely anything. it works great as it is. if anything were to be added, possibly add a little packet, buyable in stores that sell video games on the shelf, what's contained is a set of numbers for a month's membership on a card (like a phone card) and a little introduction and game info and instructions on how to subscribe and also information for how to subscribe for a longer period. or you could just buy the packets every month. stores like best buy, and dvd rentals etc. could sell them. but again that would require more employees and time and work so ? maybe test market it. and i dont agree with your idea at all.
