What is needed to destroy RWT
There is no way of really stopping RWT in Rs unless they shut down the game itself. Period. People will always find a way. Even if Jagex removed pking, dying, dropping items, trading, etc. RWT companies would just switch to selling RS characters. All RWTers have to do is use their bots/scripts to train a guy up to level50/60/70 on combat and skills and then spend a few days getting gp then sell that character.

Grand Exchange Conspiracy Theory
Not really. Most people, even those who have played for a long time, do not have the kind of money needed to get rares, unless they either bought them early on or they spent time merchanting. That is your opinion only. Most of my friends are long time players and all of them have more than enough. :P According to Jagex the average player does not play for 10 hours a week, he plays for 22 hours. It would take roughly a year and he would only need 100k or so and hour. Or two years at 50k an hour. :P Either way earning gp is obviously a function of time. I might as well say someone plays for 1 hour a month and in 1000yrs he would have enough to buy a phat. See how ridiculous your argument it? the more effort you put into a goal, the faster you get it. Please, not the no life argument. You can't expect everything to be handed to players on a silver platter. All MMORPG require players to spend time to play them to get the best rewards. Nonsense, there is no difference between any of the rares. They are all simply difficult to aquire items that either show wealth or length of playing. Saying only phats are bad is too subjective, what you see as an impossible amount of gp others can see as reasonable. I was using them as evidence that Jagex in fact appreciates the fact that players *want* rare items. I was not saying anything about price always being high. Jagex keeps on creating high level rare items for our enjoyment and when they go down in price, Jagex creates more. They know that players want rare and valuable items and they obviously approve or they wouldn't have created them.

99 vs Top of useful
I plan to eventually (in a few years hahaha) get 99 fishing, cooking, thieving and herblore. 99 fishing and cooking allows you to fish faster and to burn less, so it is useful up to 99. Thieving is the same (you get caught much less at higher levels). As for herblore I admit there is nothing past 82. I just intend to continue doing it because I like the skill and I get a lot of herbs from farming and Manage Thy Kingdom anyway. Then I will sell the pots! Summary: because it is useful and I like it.

Will future bots be almost impossible to detect?
Fey, very interesting. Duke, allow RWT in RS? Only if they removed subscriptions altogether and basically made everyone p2p. I believe in most games that sell items for cash generally tend to limit the type and amount of things they sell. Hmm I will have to reread that Sony thing but I thought they had special servers where RWT was allowed and the rest were regular servers? That sounds like a better compromise to me but people would still buy gold in the regular servers. :( Outright selling gold is mostly discouraged as it removes the reason for playing...which as most people here on Tip It and Rs tell me is they want to make gp. Why spend 50 hours making 10 mil when you can buy 10 mil gp for $3? Back on topic: Even if jagex were somehow able to magically detect and ban every bot ever made, they would still have gold farmers. The underlying problem is still there, which is RWT.

Will future bots be almost impossible to detect?
Not sure where you are going here, are you actually implying that Jagex has effective anti-botting programs? I mean, all you have to do is log in to see all the autoers.

The Great RuneScape Bot-Hunt
Well I did send in a query to Jagex and they admitted that they have a backlog of reports in the game. :( So if there are almost as many real players as there are bots then it would be gigantic task to ban the autoers.
-
Will future bots be almost impossible to detect?
I also heard that the Chinese gold farmers are also shady characters who do rl crimes... I didn't know IGE was partially funded by someone trying to hide his money from child abuse victims, really makes you think how bad RWT is.

The Great RuneScape Bot-Hunt
I don't have that much free time but it is a very interesting post. I hadn't realized bots made that much gp. Wow and with the GE they can sell materials so fast, too. Since they are members Jagex is getting their $5 a month lol. I thought I saw some bots spinning flax maybe ill take down their names when I am there next.

Grand Exchange Conspiracy Theory
Wait, that actually happened? i was on the guys site who did that around 2 years ago when i first started playing rs. Didnt know it was real... Yes, it definitely happened. If you dig up the old news archives you will see it there as well.

Making cash w/ theiving.
For thieving, master farmers are the best for making gp at any level. I am level 92 thieving. Pyramid plunder is good when you have some gp and you want fast exp. You won't make money there unless you get a sceptre which is pretty rare.

I just earned the idiot award ...rofl..self imposed
nice story but its pretty common to forget anti fire shield.

price of sharks
Sorry, I am one of those selling cooked shark at lowest prices at the GE. I simply can't be bothered to find a buyer when GE is so fast and convenient. I think you might find that lobs are better for making money now, you catch them much faster than shark and the price per lobs isn't bad in comparison to the time it takes go get (vs sharks).

Girls in RuneScape
Rofl. Did he mean his house irl? That is kinda creepy.

Grand Exchange Conspiracy Theory
Hmmm yes you have a point, but I would say a very small one. Theoretically you could self-sufficiently do everything in RS without buying or selling but most people don't play it as a single player game but rather as a MMORPG. What's the point of raising everything alone when you have this great big online world full of other players? That is merely the invalid reasoning of scammers and newbies to the game. Perhaps they think so but long time and high leveled players know that is just not true in the slightest. Getting large amounts of money goes hand in hand with training and playing the game normally. In your sig, don't you have a guide for getting 500k an hour at avianses? You can rc enough to get rares, you can gather dbones, you can dk or gwd....and in fact you can simply play the game normally and still have enough to get rares. I hardly play for gp but I still have got more than enough for rares. When Rs2 started I placed my bank in Rs1. In other words, I had nothing on RS2. Nothing! And yet I have made several millions completely legit *and* with absolutely no merchanting (in the sense of buying low, selling high). If I can achieve so much then the hardcore players can certainly make more. :) Then through hard work and luck, if they get a godsword they could sell that and then buy rares since as I have stated, many rares are worth less than GS. So? Jagex will just release another rare item, as they have been doing for quite some time now. My point is that Jagex now sees the need to have high level, expensive items, otherwise they wouldn't have made more of them. I can only speculate but I would say jagex now realizes that players who have a goal such as to gain 100m to buy full drag/full 3rd age/GS/etc. will play longer, so they make more subscription money. As for Hohto, I was referring to others things which you referred to as "hero worship." I don't wanna start it up again though.
-
What would happend if Jagex increase combat level cap?
Yes but then you would have to raise not just melee but also prayer, range and mage and those are so expensive. Or they used to be when I trained. :P I guess you could PC those nowadays.

Everyone hates jagex
Oh dear not the 1000000000000th post of a whiner whining about whiners who whine about updates. Enough already this is getting incredibly tiresome. :shame:
-
2007 - Updates have made a big money Loss.
Yes, that is true, people did lose a lot of money on GE and staking has affected the economy adversely. Before the update I did post that this will drive prices down as this is what happens in other games. Basically with a searchable auction/trading house sellers will always undercut each other leading to a downward spiral in terms of prices. Don't worry since prices are down although you lost money you can still buy items for cheaper now.

Grand Exchange Conspiracy Theory
Quote: 1.) Don't flame Fook. 2.) Hohto brought up some things because you made a personal attack on Duke. 3.) I see you are now using "money oriented" rather than "greed oriented." That's a good sign :D but as I have said before, all RS is greed/money oriented. All skills, including combat, is all about either getting materials or using materials. All that requires or produces gp. Jagex would have to take away the whole game to removed the money oriented aspects of it. 4.) Jagex have in recent years, after rares became so valuable, released their own rare items such as Godsword, dragon items, 3rd age, etc. They are not against rare items in any way, shape or form. If they didn't want the money oriented aspects of the game, they wouldn't have recently made rare drops from gwd because this could potentially lead to RWT. Godswords are worth more than santa hats, easter eggs and pumpkins, you know.

Abyss rcing autoers now?
Gold farmers are one thing, at least a human is playing, even if he can't speak English. Bots, on the other hand, are really annoying.
-
Grand Exchange Conspiracy Theory
Um nope, why would Jagex "buy" up the rares on the sly? That would make rares that much rarer and ruin the market even more. If there was a conspiracy, they would do the opposite, in other words they would sell more rares and flood the market with them but they wouldn't really do that either.

Summoning - How Are You Preparing?
Bah, I hate huntin. I am preparing by making large amounts of gp. I assume materials will be buyable just as ores adn bars are buyable for smithing if hunter will really be to summoning what mining is to smithing.

Clan Wars! Effects On Wild and Lunar?
This is sweet. P.S. When Tip It has a clan war I wanna be there!

Abyss rcing autoers now?
I agree. Wish I had a p2p pure but oh well I'm sure the other RS players will soon step up to the challenge.

3 December 2007 - Behind the Scenes - December

Is herblore now a fast easy 99?
I can sell 3 dose supers just fine. I am no going to waste time making them into 4 dosers, even if I couldn't sell them at 3 dose I would rather let them sit in bank than click for hours without getting any exp. Herblore is now easier because you can buy herbs faster but apart from that nothing has changed. You still lose money and it is still slow. There is also no big reward at 82+ so people don't care to get 99 in it most of the time. \
