  1. Peronix said the lower level gets the exp as well as the double nats. Ouch. SpencerM98, thanks for the quote hopefully they will remove assist from the gathering skills. 13_19_16 hmmm good point but imho that's pretty rare while the begging in training areas happens all the time. Yes, that is my other point. Even if they change it so that the higher level person always gets all the exp, I still think assistance shouldn't include mining, fishing and woodcutting. Thanks for all the replies.
  2. This is a discussion of the abuse of the assistance system for fishing, mining and woodcutting. Abuse of the system: In some cases, the lower level gets both the experience and the materials from the higher level. Example: A level 76 fisher asks for help shark fishing from a level 99 fisher. The lower level gets all the shark. He also gets all the exp since he has the level needed for shark fishing and he gets shark at the faster rate of the person who gave him assistance. In other words, he fishes at the speed of the 99 fisher while getting all the exp and shark for himself. What is that point of that? Previously I had supported the assistance update. This seemed like a good system for helping others. Unfortunately even skills that traditionally do not require assistance have been included. These are the three skills of fishing, woodcutting and mining. These there are "primary" skills that are there to gather resources from the world of RS. Assistance for these skills is nothing more than giving free stuff and the people asking for assistance are only begging for free stuff. With secondary skills such as runecrafting, smithing., crafting, etc. secondary materials are created from primary (raw) materials, ie runes from mined pure ess, bows from logs, armor from ores and so on. These are the skills that traditionally require assistance as a person can have raw material without being able to use them. These are the skills that traditionally require the assistance of a higher level person. Assistance in this case is not one sided, one person provides the materials while the other gains exp. Both gain something. In the case of mining, fishing and woodcutting, the higher level person loses out as the lower level person provides nothing the higher level person doesn't have and takes the materials. While I was fishing in the guild some keep asking higher levels to assist them even if they are already high level fishing, just so they could get fish faster. A level 88 fisher was asking for assistance...is that right? :wall: I hope Jagex changes this asap. I'm sick of high level beggars in the guild. Edit: Thanks to qeltar's information at http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=713977
  3. Thank you for the update and clarifications. I was all in favor of the update before but yesterday and today people have been abusing the system primarily fishing. Would you please make a post in RSOF? I'd gladly support it.
  4. You were in the wrong. First of all what he was wearing was hardly out of the reach of a level 66. Combat level has nothing to do with wealth. I've traded level 3's who were legit. Secondly, you should never tell a person you suspect them of doing something wrong when you have no proof or reason to think so. Just say "ok give me a minute I have something to do." Did you really need to insult him?
  5. If all the autoers were magically removed from RS, prices would rise really high for certain raw materials. This would not be a tragedy but instead a big boost for everyone. High level skills would be worth more and players would get more respect for both buyable and non-buyable skills.
  6. RH was one of the most famous pkers of his time. Whenever I saw him on RH when it was a pure (after Rh2 was banned) he was totally surrounded by dozens of noob pures who worshipped the ground he walked on. No one else I know had that many admirers except possibly Angel2002/I Wicked I but Matt preferred to be surrounded by girls.
  7. Congratulations on getting your main back.
  8. He showed me his house like 3 months ago and he told me he still plays. I haven't seen him online much since then so probably he plays just rarely.
  9. Yes and if I still played that much I'd try to go find a high level farmer to farm with so I can plant higher level herbs. Nice FAQ.
  10. It's great stuff I love the old nostalgia sites.
  11. Tsk and people say customer service doesn't need improvement. Too bad, imagine how bad it is for the regular players if this happens to a pmod... Good luck on your last chance appeal.
  12. Not to mention lamers like the one that just told me to go to greaters cave with my 2 mil gp. :( Trying to scam/lure a poor legit player like me is going to be a thing of the past once we have auction/trade house. P.S. I didn't fall for it.
  13. Er because I'm already sure you can't get it back. ;)
  14. As a matter of fact Maniac was one of the first 20 or so people to max (melee), which at the time *was* a big deal (not like today where no one knows anyone except maybe Zezima). Also, everyone knew him as he was pretty famous among the fighters because of his high combat level. Just don't exaggerate...Maniac was not the first to 99 str, ok?
  15. LOL Fook, pretty sure I dropped mine for bank space. I think that thing where you can get it back is from Rs2.
  16. Rants are really bad nowadays. It's not a place for people to rant, its now a place for people to flame those who rant.
  17. I got that pm and *almost* clicked. Thank goodness I checked out the link url first and saw it wasn't youtube. :D
  18. Well said Duke! This is hardly a calamity. I have been waiting for a trade update like this for years. Don't panic, just wait until we have a "real" (as in coded in the game) market. It will be great. :P  I never merchanted so I wouldn't know but for sure our current player market is ridiculous and filled with annoying auto-typers. This update can only be an improvement.
  19. No, but if you use the silverlight for a first hit, it weakens the demon. That's why people use it at gds. I am a Demon Slayer hahaha take that Delrith!
  20. Now you're just being rude. Just because they are the only ones who agree with you don't mean the rest of us don't understand. It's not rocket science fyi. There's no problem with people only being able to buy the full listed price and it will not raise prices. There are over 1 million p2p players and millions more of f2p. For the exchange, there has to be a search function otherwise people won't be able to find the items they want. Let's say you want to buy a rune full helm. You search and you buy the lowest listed price. Obviously that is what always happens...no one is going to buy the item that is 500 gp over the lowest listed price, they will always buy the lowest price everytime. Sellers who don't adjust their prices so that it is the lowest price will never sell their stock. Ever. This will lead lower prices because sellers will be forced to keep up with the lowest listed prices. Those players who are in a hurry to sell, for example those whose members are running out, will list their items even lower than the lowest current price...again leading to lower prices, not higher.
  21. misplacedme has it right. My personal advice is to just take it easy and play the game without worrying about money. Levels matter more and no, you don't need to focus on *one* skill only. So long as you actively level 9even if its 5 different skills a day) you will eventually get high enough to make whatever you want. Don't let others tell you which skills are "best," just do the ones you enjoy the most.
  22. Ouch, that sucks bad. I hope you get your char back on last appeal. Sorry, can't help as I nver had to write an appeal.
  23. Just say you are sorry and they might let you have you char back if it wasn't a whole lot of stuff you dropped. It would also help if you don't even have many black marks. If you've been a good player up to know try to emphasize that you've never done anything bad and that you won't drop trade again.
  24. LOL, bad boy! Wife still plays! Muted, unfortunately so we can't talk in RS anymore. If Maniac 999 was first to 99 str then I was first to 99 smithing!
  25. When you are high level then you will know why. Nice interview but next time at least put in like 3 sentences introduction first. I don't know who that is either.
