Grand Exchange = sell only?
Well in other games auctions and trades are sellers only so I don't see the problem. I do think there will be a limit to the number of items a single player can sell though. I mean, a player could seel (for example) 20 types of items but in unlimited amounts. Otherwise it would be a huge server load if noobs put up their whole bank. I do have one fearless prediction - players will make their own "galleries" of rare/expensive items for display. For example if a certain person wants to show off his phat set he can put it in with an impossible selling price, just so others can see it.

Behind the Scenes - November Edition
I want the trade update soooo bad! Sounds really great, I have my fingers crossed that it wil be implemented well. Tournaments also sound good - except I hope they will be separate tournaments for ranged, mage and melee.

Silverlight
Didn't know it was buyable on Rs1 at all, as far I know once you finish the quest you cannot get Silverlight back but it is tradeable so you can pk some...

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
I'm pretty sure that Jagex would have a separate team for Mechscape (which I think is a dumb name). I doubt the development of this new game affects RS that much. RS is already a big success that earns its creators mucho $$$. It would be stupid to ditch an extremely profitable game for a new game that is not guaranteed to succeed. Jagex could always run two games...

~~~Nat prices, The economics of it~~~
Historically (in RS) nats have been higher priced and sold quite well. You only lose gp if you buy everything. For example if you wc or spin flax then you get a profit even if nats go up to 375.
Respect To These Old Scool Players?
I guess a few still play now and then. Also, some people quit then come back fro like 2 months then quit again. Rl things get in the way of constant players and a lot of the older players are now in college or working. I even know 1 who now has two children! :lol: They're around just not too active.
Tip.it Times Presents: Reasons to hate Jagex!
Kiara_Kat, hmm good point that's its not an editorial but rather a guest article. Okies, I get it. Ahhhhhhhhh, attack of the roses......gaaaaaaaaaaahhh, I'm bleeding. A very vicious attack by a rose indeed. I like your post. Excellent argument. In fact, it was much more convincing that the editorial. Thank you. Alright, I am glad to see you can take criticism without wigging out. I guess I just feel differently, to me the shop update is a very minor one that barely affects RS.
I don't see how that would work here, those scanners look for files with hashes of known keyloggers and the keyloggers that people get sent here are most likely not in it's database due to them being too new. Guarenteed i can code a keylogger that is undetectable by that, not that i ever have/ever will code keyloggers. If you don't want your account hacked, the simple solution is to not allow your computer to run the keyloggers in the first place. That's not how Snoopfree works. I got a pm from Assassin1357 with the link but luckily didn't click on it. I almost did but noticed it wasn't youtube or any other well-known site at the last minute. Phew.
Rares - Estimate how many are left
Ouch actually 8000 is a very small number. 1 million susbcribers right? So 8000 is less than 1%. No wonder I rarely see phats now.
Tip.it Times Presents: Reasons to hate Jagex!
No there isn't. When I played right after the update, everyone loved it. No one has complained about it in game either (including clan chat) that I heard so how is there a strong negative feeling? RSOF maybe, but RSOF rant posters are only a few hundreds (a tiny, tiny fraction of RS players). LOL? Like how? Basic gameplay is unaffected negatively apart from the very minor battlestaves thing, which I would say less than 1% of RS even uses. Oh dear lord so now we are to say kudos for them doing their job? Oh look, the janitor mopped up the floor, quick praise him because he would still be paid even if he never mopped it. Getting rid of bots is not an extra feature Jagex did on their free time out of the goodness of thier hearts. RS is a business. They are *paid* to keep it enjoyable for players. Having bots take up all the stock of runes, arrows, vials and whatnot is not in the best interests of the game, so Jagex cleaned it up. :wall: I feel that this article misses the point entirely. There is much that is good about Jagex but making updates to improve gameplay is a simply what every game company does if they want to stay in business. Every game developer bans autoers and cheaters, it's not in any way unusual for Jagex to take steps against cheaters.
Tip.it Times Presents: Reasons to hate Jagex!
You said it! I don't have an issue with the shop update, in fact I love it as I have not loved anything since they made bank notes but the tone of many articles are too unbalanced on the side of Jagex. Jagex is the game maker who makes millions off us players. They are *not* in any possible way the underdog here. An RS community site like Tip It should position itself more on the community...meaning the players not on the side of the game company. They already have all the power in the game, it's the players who are powerless.
Whats happened to tip it?
I like the leaving posts sometimes, they can be quite interesting. Besides, RS has been a part of people's lives and if they have played for any length of time then players like to look back at what they have achieved and bid farewell to the community.
What hire real people ? #-o No, they just need to hire monkeys instead of the manatees they are using right now. Seriously, it's a good thing if the business side is fixed. I think RS should have subscription cards like Maplestory has Nexon cards that you can buy in Target stores. That way more people can get members!
Grrrrr! finally found a fun thing and noobs ruin it!
Combat level 70 is not intermediate. Level 92 is almost exactly half the exp to level 99 (for any skill) and if you had 92 all melee and prayer then you would be halfway. That would make your combat level well over 100. I don't like your no-life comment but enjoy CW anyway. It can be fun if you have chat block on. :twisted:
Does Jagex play their game?
Andrew and Paul do play RS. However when they play, they see things differently from us. Maybe someone looked at a girl char and thought "oh she needs a handbag, women love handbags." I think one time Andrew saw people chatting and decided it was a bad thing...since they weren't roleplaying. :twisted: Otherwise, there is no way to explain the old 'chat filter' update where Andrew made it so that you could only use a limited dictionary of words (like in Club Penguin). For example if you typed in "Meili" it would appear as "milk" since milk is an in-game item that is in the chat dictionary and "Meili" is not.
Jagex jagex jagex...They got it worng? Again?
It's allowed in another game I play so I don't think there's a hard and fast rule about this in MMORPGs. Jagex just doesn't want it done because it "unbalances" the game and it's a bit harder to tell if a char is cheating or not if you could trade with your other char.
RuneScape on Miniclip, Jagex's worst decision ever?
The game has always been full of immature kids. I see no change regarding that and Miniclip is not to blame. There are just more people on RS nowadays so there are more kids but the proportion is still the same as it used to be before Miniclip.
I hope they update the graphics. RS still looks like crap after all these years. *sigh* Also, I hope they will somehow overhaul the CS to make it better. :)
Silverlight
heck i've forgot too :P You pk a newb who is using it at gds! It's the only way.
Whats happened to tip it?
My (concrete) suggestion: allow people to introduce themselves and to say farewell if they are leaving. It can be on a separate subforum but have it there. Stickies are no good. No one reads them. Recently a well-known Tip It staff member posted a "leaving" topic which generated a ton of posts, why are staff allowed to post banned topics but not users? I still don't understand why the questionnaire topics were moved when they had more posts than most. Obviously people enjoy them, otherwise they wouldn't get several pages of replies. "What things confused you when you were a newb?" is a questionnaire survey question yet it has 4 pages of replies. It is in general discussion as is "How do you level up?". "Most Useless Item on Runescape" has 19 pages of replies so far...I think that pretty much shows how much people like these topics. :roll:
How often do you actually REPORT bots?
I report them for flax botting whenever I see them, which isn't that often. The woodcutters seem to not actually be bots. I am pretty sure a lot of them are farmers. :( So no I don't report the farmers, there's nothing to report them under since they are real human players. It's just that they sell their RS gp for rl $$ which I can hardly get proof of when they are just woodcutting.
Dumbest mistakes
Keeping my stuff in RS1. :( Now there's no way to get it back so I gave away most of my things.
Still no love for thieving?
Thank you kido14 and the others here who finally proved to me that yes, there are some people who actually get why thieving is neglected. Pyramid plunder is a ridiculous way to level. You get exp but precious little else. Yeah you have a chance of getting a very rare item, gl with that if you can stand clicking millions of times without getting any reward first. *rolls eyes* :roll: :roll: :roll: The real problem of this thread is that almost no one on it has any idea of what you mean about thieving in RSC. Most posters here never played it. :lol: They don't know that thieving can be a very fun and interesting skill *if* when you pick a pocket/steal from a chest you get a significant amount of loot. RS1 vs RS2 thieving is a big letdown. Yes, I know about Pyramid Plunder. Thieving isn't for exp. It's a skill of sleathily stealing wealth from places or people. Do you really think a thief would spend all day stealing from people because "wow I need to practice my skills"? Nope, they do it because they want the gold and other valuable items.
