  1. This drop in rare prices might actually be a good news for those who own rares and are willing to sell them: a) With this update, I assume at least some wealthy stakers retire, thus drop the supply for rares slightly. B) The most important one here. Once the prices stabilise for a while (can be just few days) and people actually want their rares back, the increased supply will affect to the demand and that can cause the snowball affect: they rise due the increased demand -> more hopes for them -> more demand -> $$$. Not sure, yes I know rares will go up... in general and over the long term. In short term when I am playing to level my skills this month, well I am not so sure. I'll definitely hang on to some, of course, but the ones I was planning to sell for con and herblaw (in the future when I am done with current supplies) mmm well I'm thinking about selling and buying for that now instead of two months later. If Jagex goes all out against RWT though, they could put in a price cap on daily trading. *shivers*
  2. I guess so but during the course of RS2 there have been many, many bugs in duelling that stakers have taken advantage of which is why I wouldn't trust them. That's what I told everyone in chat.
  3. That's a nice idea. I would prefer deathmatches to trust stakes. However, I am not sure it would work in today's RS community. Back in RS1 deathmatches worked because pkers were mostly known to each other.
  4. Same. I wanted this and exchange so bad, now I am so worried I am thinking of panic selling my rares and panic buying raw materials before exchange update. I wish Paul would post something reassuring about how exchange will be. Likewise, this gave me flashbacks to the really bad updates like sleeping bags...they never reversed that and it hurt all players just so they could "stop autoers." Sleeping bags never stopped autoers and price caps on stake duels won't stop RWT.
  5. meili replied to subz's topic in General Discussion
That is my greatest fear now. I don't merchant (in the sense of buying and selling just for profit) but I buy raws materials and sell finished materials, or sometimes vice versa. Price caps on trade would destroy my high level playing style. I really feel sorry for the stakers who spent months making their chars for staking then Jagex pulls the rug out from under them after they already paid members for so long.
  6. Well I've had rares since before high level staking and they always went up in price then. So, historically speaking, rares will still go up even if there are no stakers. :D
  7. I thought he just put it in his sig to emphasize how long he has been playing and how many changes he has gone through in the game. Hey, I'd put in a similar sig if I thought Jagex would actually pay more attention to informed posts.
  8. Gosh, who's bright idea was the 3k? This is almost too silly to believe. I pity those who made stakers, now they are so poor.
  9. This is very bad for all the people who trained up a character for staking. Now they have no reward (3k is a joke). Imagine spending months to get that perfect staker then Jagex just takes it away like that...ouch.
  10. Sounds to me like Jagex will be controlling the prices in the GE... I didn't expect them to ever put a stake cap on duels. Now I am afraid they might take away our current trading system and put a price cap on rares.
  11. Why has no one told me this before??? This must be why I never made my mark as a pure. Whoa and years after I'm already impure I find the answer!
  12. Alright, I guess I agree with the general point, just not the specific story you illustrated it with. It's just very extreme when there is really a lot of verbal abuse and betrayal everyday.
  13. Agreed. Qeltar didn't write the story he just quoted it but I feel it is a bad story that glosses over the possible real reasons. Before she killed herself her last words to her mother were "You're supposed to be no my side." Might it be she killed herself not just because of "Josh" but also because she felt her family was not supportive? Just a thought. :P
  14. A trigger only sets off what is already there. That is what the word itself means. She was like a loaded gun ready to go off at any provocation. A person with no mental illness wouldn't have any trivial triggers like Megan. Maybe a normal person would commit suicide over a terminal illness but they wouldn't kill themselves over an internet slur. ? More than half of the population are, have been and will be 13 year old girls. I am one such. I have not died when people criticized me nor will I. :P We will just have to agree to disagree. I won't change my mind just because of this one case and there is no scientific or logical proof to say this single incident killed Megan. Suicide is not something that happens for a simple reason. This story on Megan is journalistic sensationalism, just like every other "the internet killed my daughter/son" story there has ever been. The real story here should have been teenage depression and how it is treatable. ADD is also one of the high risk factors for teenage suicide. Your message is good but it's too exaggerated. If someone says "die worthless fat girl" in RS, they are not killing the girl, no matter if she suicides later. I'm hardly saying they were justified. They did wrong. I am protesting the whole overdramatic tone of the story and boiling everything down to something simple yet false - myspace hoax kills girl. That is highly debateable. It seems that the police just took the parent's word for everything but how do we know there was no abuse in the family and other triggers? The parents are also reportedly divorcing. I can't imagine that was unrelated. What, they might cry? It could hurt their feelings? I'm sure people already know that. They just don't care.

Oh my I was even one of the victims of Kryptix.
  16. meili replied to willysp's topic in Rants
QFT. Same with the clan chat. Agreed. :P I still like Tip It the most of all the RS sites but I think the exact moment things went downhill is when they put in the "no names"" rule. You just can't have interesting topics if you can't name the people involved. I understand the reason behind it though.
  17. Cas, I don't suffer from depression myself but basically its is a mental illness. It could be inherited because it can run in families. She was taking medication because it is like a physical/brain chemistry thing. That's why even people who are well off and aren't being abused in any way will sometimes kill themselves over what others would perceive as trivial things such as failing a subject in school.
  18. Were it not for their actions, there is no doubt in my mind that the girl would be alive today. They did cause the girl to kill herself. Yes, I know. Your post more or less hinges on that. It's sad that adults harrassed a teen. That is wrong and very ugly. However, if I should tell a salesperson (irl) who is incompetent that he doesn't know what he is doing, is it my fault if he goes off and and hangs himself? No, he did that, not me. :-k The girl had allegedly tried to commit suicide before and this is very likely as most, especially girls, do not die on their first suicide attempt. The parents already said Megan was suffering from depression. Her depression was the actual cause of the suicide. The word "fat" and "[bleep]" are heard everyday in school but people don't kill themselves everyday over it. A friend of mine on Rs whom I have known for 6 years just scammed of 2 mil and a whip. If he posts here that I am a fat [bleep], am I going to kill myself? Nope! Nor would my "friend" be guilty of killing me if I did. She was suffering from depression, which makes it seem as though problems are insurmountable. To her the problem (in this case the myspace incident) seems to make her life unbearable but actually it wasn't the incident, it was her mental illness that made it seem that way.
  19. This is just another example of journalistic sensationalism. Suicides are not caused by one thing. Even if it is true about the myspace incident, that was merely the triggering factor. In other words, yeah hate the parents if you like but they did *not* cause the girl to kill herself. Normal people do not kill themselves over some one harassing them on msn, myspace or even irl. The girl committed suicide because her life sucks and she wasn't able to handle it.Yes, her entire *life* including family, friends, health, looks, self-esteem, and everything. I understand what you are saying about there being actual peopl behind the pixels but the suicide news is a bad way of illustrating it.
  20. I'm afraid this one is much too short. I blame RS and the RS community, it seems there are few really newsworthy topics and Tip It IMHO is now shying away from the controversial issues.
  21. Pures (for pking, of course) are there to compete with other players. You can't compete if you think you will lose - that is deliberate suicide. In order for pkers to pk, they need to think and feel that they will win. Imagine a boxer. If he goes to the ring thinking he is weaker then he is bound to lose. If he thinks he can/will win then he at least has a chance. It's the same with pking, you have to have the winning attitude. Either you think your char hits harder, has better equipment or you think your tactics are better than other people's. \ Of course pkers are arrogant. They wouldn't pk if they didn't think they were better than people their own level.
  22. I have my own ideas about who should and should not be on the list. It's not the same as your list probably but I just bite my tongue sometimes when I see certain names. :wall: Especially when it is some late-starting prayer beast. *shudders*
  23. Dude, they can't type but RS is just a clicking game. Yes, 5 yr olds can click, it's not rocket science. My 5 yr old neighbor plays Age of Mythology, Rs in the beginner level isn't harder than that. All she has to do is get an axe and click on a tree, for example.
  24. Thank you. :D I really liked being in both clans, for different reasons. I'm glad I was in MI for the MI vs RSD war though, I liked being in the smaller underdog clan. BF!
  25. Oh yeah I forget to mention Llama0. Well it's all a matter of opinion, I've had 3 people tell me RH is a crap pker lol. *dies*
