  1. I absolutely refuse to pray for spectres. Super set, kharils/black d hide, slayer helm, fury, d boots, dfs/mind shield/defender, whip, skill cape. Bring two bunyips and the rest food. Toggle pray when you get behind on HP, because they hit a little harder than bunyips can cover. They're also super close to POH, and easy access. It's a better idea to eat against them and tele; that way you may need a few trips, but you'll bank more valuable herbs, and save tons on prayer pots.
  2. Whether you're leveling crafting or smithing, be sure to use Proto Tools from Stealing Creation. If you use clay needle to make green dragonhide bodies, for example, you will literally cut the expense in half. It will also save you time; a true win-win.
  3. OK, so you're right at the beginning. Run through all the options with him; if there are no options I would report a bug because you're supposed to be rerouted automatically and it doesn't sound like that's happening.
  4. What does the quest log tell you?
  5. It's absurd to claim that we can't complain about poorly constructed events like this. [*:3uvyyi0b]We are paying customers speaking on a board which we know the management at least occasionally sees. Product feedback should be valuable.[*:3uvyyi0b]Events are tied into the game with holidays, a tradition which is now expected in purchase price. Holiday events are no longer surprise hidden bonuses, but rather important elements of the overall offering.[*:3uvyyi0b]Many players collect unlockable features such as songs. This event has two new songs, so players who wish to unlock all the songs HAVE to do the new event, and do it soon.[*:3uvyyi0b]Not only is this a message board, but this is specifically a thread about the event. Thoughts, discussions, and opinions regarding the update SHOULD go here, particularly constructive praise or criticism.
  6. I had very low expectations and was still disappointed. The event itself has almost zero creativity - it's almost a direct rip of the elf Christmas events where you fix their broken gadgets, match up a few items, and you're done. The dialogue is nothing to celebrate, and the reward is weak even by holiday standards. The upside is it didn't waste much of my time. I hope Jagex hadn't wasted too many resources in development.
  7. People expected a chrome or firefox client BEFORE an IE one? Are you serious? Just because it's "cool" to go with one of the secondaries doesn't mean it makes business sense to skip the primarily accepted web browser. FWIW, I use IE over Firefox because Firefox is incredibly glitchy, faults on startup all the time, and just has generally gone downhill quickly over the last 6-12 months.
  8. There are quite a few complications here that make the magazine impossible. The cover work is great, and I know people would -like- to see it, but sadly it's not that simple. [*:3h85wnnk]Distribution / Speed - Would be expensive, timely, and still get you at best 2/3 days from content completion + printing to field. Most news in Runescape is old by day 2, so you'd have to work on things that are less time-sensitive.[*:3h85wnnk]Labor - While the community is more than willing to drive content, finding responsible writers who can pull together work very quickly, very reliably, and very high quality is not easy. Add in the fact that they'd have to work for peanuts/nothing, and you've got a problem.[*:3h85wnnk]Content source - Due to the timeliness that I mentioned, the only great source of information that would make the magazine REALLY valuable is inside development information from Jagex. Unfortunately, if Jagex released exclusive news about previews exclusively through the magazine, two things would happen: 1. The community that didn't have to pay for that content before would be pissed off. 2. Someone would quickly scan and post your magazine somewhere, and it would spread. Only a few subscribers would be yielded, so you couldn't successfully monetize. Just don't want you to go too far down a road that might not work for you.
  9. Nicely written. Learn something new every day, too. I always thought it was Sir Edmund Hilary who said the "Because it was there" line. Glad I factchecked before correcting and looking like a jerk.
  10. Is there a reason why the Guthix Max Prayer is way, way better than the Sara or Zamorak cap prayers? Overall, I think you did a great job, altough I'd think those percentages seem a little too high. Not out of the question, but I'd pare back about 5% across the board on them.
  11. Definitely a matter of relativity. High level is relative to who you play with. Go to F2P and a level 85 combat could be high level. Level 60 WC in F2P is very high. Go to God Wars dungeon and hunt bosses, and 90+ melees doesn't guarantee you "high level" status.
  12. Dark Beasts are a candidate. They have a little seizure and shake before they slowly drop to the ground and then melt into the earth. It looks kinda neat, but it does take a while.
  13. Haven't gotten anywhere, really. Some reconfigurations, don't seem close to solved, but may jog memories for some: the sheds are heavy Shh, Edee Have Tyras Heed every hats ash deaths very hashee --- what a curious village Evil lair coughs watau hilarious wave Gacult --- Sirrah is dead Heard Sir Dais Share dad iris (father's eye?) Dishes Are Rid I Raid Dashers Rash Said Dire (think west ardougne?) ---- OK, I know these aren't right, but maybe one springs something to mind for someone else.
  14. On second thought, this could also work if it worked more like protection prayers work against other players. Certainly doesn't screen out ALL damage, just drastically reduces it. I think that would make sense, on top of obviously making it drain faster than current protection prayers.
  15. I would keep it. The raven is a pretty cool pet, and looks nice. It's only one inventory slot, and Raven egg drops are both rare and untradeable. Since it's hard as hell to get back, hang on to it.
  16. How much is real, and how much is April 1st?
  17. No need to ever make more than a few hundred bunyips. Fruit bats can be made with a super cheap "second" (bananas) for equivalent exp. Same can be said for war tortoises; they're the best gold charm in that range, but the tortoise shells are super expensive, so don't make too many of them. You can always make stuff like barker toads easy. I also buy talismans at GE for blue charm seconds. It's a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than getting rune bars or w/e. For reds, once you go granite lobby, it's hard to ever go back.
  18. This. No matter what you're hitting with Keris, that little dagger brings the PAIN. If you're fighting anything bigger than the level 28 workers, be sure to note the keris can be poisoned as well. I like a bunyip at the soldiers for a good mix of exp + cost. Guardians by the KQ entrance can be ranged, but bring some antipoison for anything over the level 28s. The poison of the guardians is very strong and will ruin your day. Also, you can always kill KQ for some chances at big drops.
  19. Anything you have on hand. You don't get more exp for fancier amulets, but you do get to alch them for higher value, or enchant them if you want to go that route. String is an expensive way to level, so I always look for slightly cheaper ways to get it done. Good luck! Best thing is just do gold amulets and either sell them to the rogue from the Summer Quest Series or sell to a player that can sell it to the rogue. In Brimhaven south of agility arena there is an NPC who will buy amulets of str/power from you for a reasonable price. I don't know if noted works, but it's worth investigating as well.
  20. Worth training on until you get multiple rune defenders. After that, move along. The other upside is black knives. As you know, the tormented wraith in Black knight castle in the spirit realm of wildy can only be harmed with black weapons wearing black armor. Take all the black knives those guys drop and use them at tormented wraith. There is a perfect safespot west of his spawn. He drops quite a bit, including noted oak planks (great for cons), noted potions, and the terrific holy elixir (still worth several million coins!). Even with that, don't stay at cyclops too long. Overall they're still pretty lousy.
  21. If you don't use it now, drop everything and go to Stealing Creation. It will make your life tenfold easier and cheaper for leveling smithing, crafting, construction, and is also great for maging. Go. Now!
  22. Anything you have on hand. You don't get more exp for fancier amulets, but you do get to alch them for higher value, or enchant them if you want to go that route. String is an expensive way to level, so I always look for slightly cheaper ways to get it done. Good luck!
  23. I think the belief that zammy mages are superior to sara mages is incorrect. I've gotten literally dozens of dragon boots from sara mages, and never eaten a single prayer sip. I wear zammy book in left hand, and sara hide top, along with black hide chaps. Armadyl's pendant helps, too, in case you take a detour. The trick is to wait until Sara mages are engaged with something else. They love to fight the werewolf and goraks, and are terrible fighters against other monsters. Once they engage, you can smash them until they die, or their opponent dies, and they will not attack you. If their opponent dies before they do, be ready to toggle protect mage. They will turn their sites on you, and they are very strong against playing characters.
