  1. My only concern with this is that they will likely be P2P. Sure, pay for extra features I know the argument, but think about it... Anyone who has put enough time into this game to get one of these capes deserves recognition regardless of whether or not they pay $5. I don't think the "10's capes" should be F2P (espcially because it would require P2P levels), but at the very least make the veterans cape F2P so that ALL old school players can show off.
  2. No, the way they said it made it clear that it was a peice of software to help either find bots, or to deal with them. All this does is hurt the profits the bots make. I'm almost certain that this new Jagex 'tool' for combatting bots was stat wiping. It was the only noticable thing Jagex did differently around the time they said it which is a joke. Especially with GP making bots, all stat wiping does is make them gain resources a couple % slower. Oh noes! My mining is now 50 instead of 90, I'll get 20 less iron ore per hour!!!
  3. It was a randomly generated guess. But by looking at some of the drops, 10 palm seeds, 50+ torstols, 5000+ coal, and given the fact that they're not that rare I wouldn't think that I was too far off. A randomly generated guess but you have enough experience to extrapolate that you'd get an extra 1M GP a hour? I get it, "huehuehue i trol u" Okay, I'll admit. I made a mistake in my estimate. I'm not trying to troll, I was just going by what I've heard and seen as far as values and used a (apearantly wrong) drop rate that I assumed to be 1 good 'new drop table' drop per hour. I appologise.
  4. It was a randomly generated guess. But by looking at some of the drops, 10 palm seeds, 50+ torstols, 5000+ coal, and given the fact that they're not that rare I wouldn't think that I was too far off. You mean buyables? Oh yay! All this does is hurt the people at the bottom of the resource chain, the gatherer. Why should someone camping at Abby's for whips get as much coal in 1 drop as I get in 10 hours of mining? I'm all for cheaper skilling, but this is just increasing the gap between combat and skilling for money.
  5. Skillers: Hey Jagex, killing makes 10x what skilling does. Doesn't that seem unbalanced? Jagex: Okay, here's a fix *Jagex adds raw materials to drops tables en masse* Skillers: Wtf? Jagex: Didn't you want cheaper buyables? This will help lower the cost of coal so you can smelt even more steel bars into cannon balls! *Skillers facepalm* Thank you Jagex for making combat an extra 1M per hour all the while killing skiller profits.
  6. Well, considering that the glitch was live for ~1h, I don't think that too much damage will be done in the long term. After all, Corp's been out for 2.5 years.
  7. In RS Jagex just reloads the last saved 'restore point' which is usually right before the last update.
  8. Someone ingame said that Jagex patched corp already, anyone confirm?
  9. May I ask how? RoW now works with boss drops so in theory, more supply = lower price. Though it all depends, because more drops = more profit so we'll have to see.
  10. OMFG I DIDN'T SEE THAT 4q4uq4gt78egtaetyegutegt8tu6ger8t7sgete5gteryt YES! Jagex: Making 999134th Pure more over powered with every update. :shades:
  11. What? Merc leader was so easy that I solo'd a T11 5:5 merc room in F2P. But seriously, this should help out those lower leveled parties and F2P especially.
  12. I don't know if this method still works, but I got 85-90 crafting off of diamond necklaces. You'll have to check the GE charts and time your buy/sell right or you can lose a lot, but if done right it's decent enough exp and come out even/profit. And because you don't have to buy the gold bars, you're in an even better situation then me as I had to buy the diamonds and the bars.
  13. Free trade killed fishing as even a half viable option for GP. With the shear number of bots and other deeper economic chalanges the price is half of what it used to be. If I remeber correctly, I could catch 200-250 lobs per hour (did the test a while ago so I may be wrong), so you're looking at a max of ~25k/h. Coal on the other hand is tricky. It's at a really high price right now so it may be good. The only issues are that anywhere that's worth mining is packed with bots. You could try the resource dungeon, but I wouldn't bet on that being free either. This also brings up something I have been thinking about a lot. Since I'm back to F2P in a week, I'm thinking about making a F2P skill related money making guide. In it I would outline all of the ways to make GP with skills regardless of how good they are (ie: all types of logs, all ores etc). Is there a guide like this floating around the internet already? I haven't found one, but haven;t looked too hard. I'd hate to make somehting that's derivative of something someone else already made. Also, if I do make it, would anyone be willing to help me out by giving me rates that they already have (credited to you of course) like ess crafted per hour etc so that I don't have to do 1 hour tests (my lowest sample size I would allow) for every single F2P thing.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-AcxzCj_ZM EDIT: I don't know if it's just me, but the 360p seems to freeze half way through. Turn it up to 480p and it should work fine.
  15. Acording to RSWiki's calculator http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Superheat you lose 2 gp per bar today. As prices are always fluctuating you can either profit or lose. Back when I superheated addy from 75-83 I would sometimes profit up to 200 gp each or lose up to 200 gp each. Over the long term though, I did still profit. Just watch the GE charts, time your buying/selling and it should work well. Also, looking at that calculator. Superheating addy is 818 gp loss per...ouch!
  16. I don't know much about Transformers, so I can't say whether or not I want G1/G2 etc, but all I can say is that it better not turn into some Bay-splosions movie offshoot where every 10 seconds something blows up. In light of what Das said about Transformer fans being so anal about detail, I can see this turning out poorly. I don't want it to, no one should wish failure on someone else, but sometimes it's inevitable (especially with the shear number of anti-Jagex trolls out there). The major positive from this is that it brings Jagex into a whole new group of players. Until now, things like FunOrb or War of Legends has mostly been made up of Runescape players who transfer over for a few months to check it out. This should bring in enough outside players that Jagex makes money on their other projects even if this one flops.
  17. I don't know which one is better, but I've used 2003 for a few years (got from my parents) and have never had any issues. I know one of my old highschool teachers used Open but I don't think he liked it. I'm not sure if it was because of the program or just personal preference. Personally, I like MO 2003 better.
  18. I hope this helps. I did it so long ago that I can't remember exactly but Sals usually has good guides with loads of pictures. http://runescape.salmoneus.net/quests/SmokingKills.html
  19. I agree with this, but Yew bows+rune arrows would rape everything in f2p, you can already hit 18s with Addy Arrows (Don't know the new max hit) real fast, and yew bows+rune arrows would make you hit more accurate 20s at the speed of a shortbow? no thanks. Even just giving F2P yew bows but not rune arrows may be fine.
  20. Resource dungeon requires 15 dungeoneering Resource Island requires 30 dungeoneering Artisans workshop just came out so I'm not 100% sure about anything, but in the basement I hear there is great training from 1-30 so I'd assume there's no requirements.
  21. Ignore the "get p2p now" trolls. Some people just don't understand when someone wants to stay F2P. Fishing - Barbarian Village (either banking in edgeville or dropping the fish) or lobsters on Karamja (using Stiles to note the fish). Cooking - Either cook your fish if you bank then, or buy and cook lobsters. WC - Either cut willows in Ramington (sell to general store) for good exp with little profit or maples on the Daemonheim resource island (bank at Daemonheim bank) for GP and exp or cut and burn your own logs FM - Either burn the logs you cut or buy willows / maples Mining - Iron ore (bank in resource dungeon) or power mine iron in Rimington Smithing - Smelt your ores from mining and sell or use or buy ores or bars to make iron platebodies or the new artisans workshop Combat - Giant spiders in the SoS Prayer - DO NOT DO! So bloody expensive and slow with no bonus Mage - High alch your smithing products or bought items or superheat ores RC - Craft earth runes with or without gloves Crafting - Hard leather bodies or cut gems or make jewelery
  22. Dungeoneering exp is exponential, so it starts of ver slow and gets very fast at the end. Most people just solo or with friends until like 70ish then they look for real times. I agree, it's painfull to start, but the usefull rewards you'll want (scroll of life for farming most notably) on need a couple K tokens. You can either get seeds from buying them at the Grand Exchange (GE) or theiving master farmers in Draynor village. Hunter is pretty slow at the start too, I'm sure there's a good beginner guide in the Archeive of Wisdom somewhere. That sounds like a good plan for BXPW.
  23. 1 - The vast majority of the accs there were botted to those levels so there's already rule breaking associated with the account 2 - Plenty of sites scam / steal passwords / recover the account 3 - Run the risk of being keylogged if the site requires downloads for anything 4 - IT'S AGAINST THE RULES 5 - Do your own bloody work on your own bloody account
  24. OLD SKILLS Melee - Assuming you're not rich but have some gp the best option for you would be abbysal whip and barrows armour (torag chest and legs), dragon boots, glory etc. Range - Crossbows are quite good and 1 handed. After 55 slayer you can use broad arrows with rune x-bow which does the job. Prayer - In player owned houses you can build gilded alters that if you use bones on you get extra exp (I think it's 2.5x normal) so do NOT buy bones to bury, use someone's altar to train prayer. Also, quite expensive to buy (25-30 gp/exp) because of the new high level prayer 'book' Magic - In addition to normal and ancient there is lunar mage which is primarily good for skilling. Training methods are the good old high alch, superheat, etc Runecrafting - Zamorak Magic Institute altar or using the Spirit Grahhk familiar (for its teleport) are the most common training methods Agility - not much changed, some high level courses Herblore - Got plenty of new high level untradable potions which made training quite expensive but very usefull. Theiving - There is a guild I beleive but I don't know much about it. Pyramid plunder and blackjacking bandits are common training methods. Crafting - Not much new here that I know of. Making blue d'hide bodies is good exp/gp Fletching - Nothing new, making yew longs is still popular Slayer - Some new masters, most notible Sumona and Kuradel. Do the Smoking Kills quest to unlock Summona and a point system that rewards you for doing tasks without using the Burthrope master to change. With the points you can learn to make a slayer mask which combines all the headgear from slayer into 1 item. Mining - Up to 77 nothing has changed really, powermining granite/iron is still decent exp. At 77 and 80 you can mine concentrated coal and gold respectivly. They pretty much turned mining into woodcutting. They're in the living rock caverns (warning: many lvl 120+ agressive npcs there). People use one world so that in the massive number of players (and bots) the chance that they are targeted is slim. Decent mining exp with a bank deposit right there means little attention has to be paid to mining with good profits. Smithing - Same as always. We were promised a bog gamechanging update to it. That came out yesterday and is disapointing to say the least. Fishing - Not much new. I don't know if Swan Song was out when you quit, but monkfish are half decent exp and gp. Cooking - not much new Firemaking - not much new Woodcutting - Ivy grows on walls and gives loads of exp and no logs or anything to fill your inventory so you can pretty much cut forever in 1 place as long as you reclick after the ivy falls. Really fast training, IMO ruined wc. NEW SKILLS Dungeoneering - Some people call this more of a minigame. Pretty much, you go through an instanced dungeon either alone or with 5 people. There is skilling, combat and puzzles all involved and then a boss at the end of each floor. You get tokens (10:1 exp:token ratio) that can be used to buy awesome things like chaotic wepons, new abilities (save bars when smithing, herblore ingredients) etc. Hunter - You go to a habitat of a creature and use various traps to capture them. The best GP reward comes from hunting red chinchompas which are used for range trainging (throw at enemies, hits up to 9 at once). Farming - You can plant crops including vegetables, flowers, herbs and trees. Tree farming is great exp but seeds are costly, herb farming is slow exp but good money maker. Best to plant, then go off and do soemthing like slayer, then come back later and harvest. When it came out people just stood beside the patch waiting for it to grow. Summoning - REALLY USEFULL. As you've done the quest you get the main point. You summon familiars to follow you and aid you. From beasts of burden (carry things for you, like extra inv space) to gathering familiars (spawn items in their inv that are often valuable like herbs/gems) to combat familars that can help you in multi combat zones. Thats my overveiw of skills. I wasn't P2P back then so I'm not 100% sure what was all out back then but I hope I helped.
  25. Just so you know, BXP weekend starts at 12:00 pm (noon) Jagex time. So unless your timezone lines up nicely, I wouldn't try to stay up from Thurs -> Fri just to get an extra farm run in. What I'm doing is, since BXP starts before I have to get to class; Plant trees Sleep BXP WEEKEND STARTS Farm run Class Farm run Normal BXP weekend stuff
