  1. Oh dear, is my math wrong again? (I've been losing it lately, I blame it on exam stress). I used the chart on http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Artisans_Workshop for the GP and exp values. EDIT: Oh I see what's wrong. RuneWiki is late on their price updates and I used your given exp of 1.3M instead of the exact value of 1.245M. I think those are enough to mess up the numbers. Oh well...mine still serve a nice 'rough estimate' I suppose.
  2. Prices are without the 10% bonus exp. Iron i = 1.6M and 32.5h Iron ii = 7.2M and 17.3h Iron iii = 8.1M and 15.3h Steel i = 5.7M and 26.0h Steel ii = 10.6M and 14.4h Steel iii = 18.1M and 10.4h Looking at it, i think iron III is the best, what about you? Well, going from 85-87 last week I did iron i until I realised that iron iii was decently cheap so I swtiched over. But I also got 75-85 smithing superheating bars for profit because I didn't want to lose Gp even though at the time I had like 100M. So I'm probably a bad person to ask because I do both the cheap/slow and the fast/expensive methods of training depending on the day. You need to ask yourself. Is an extra 6.5M worth the 17.2H saved?

  4. Well, how much exp are you planning on gaining? EDIT: I did some calculating and came up with this. The exp/h is aproximate going by 350 ingots/h which is what I think I averaged. Ingot ---gp/exp (no bonus) --- gp/exp (bonus) ----- exp/h iron i ----------- 1.24 ------------------- 1.13 -------------- 40k iron ii ---------- 5.57 ------------------- 5.06 --------------- 75k iron iii ---------- 6.25 ------------------- 5.68 --------------- 90k steel i --------- 4.36 ------------------- 3.96 ---------------- 50k steel ii --------- 8.15 ------------------- 7.41 --------------- 90k steel iii -------- 12.89 ----------------- 12.62 --------------- 125k
  5. You know what I would like to do that mod? Slap her over the face with a trout. Sure, mods are not forced to act, but when it's so obvious and so easy to report you have to be a fool not to report it.
  6. Well, if you're using iron ingots you won't need coal. But yeah, all you need is ores and a hammer. Iron i is something like -2gp/exp and 40k exp/h. Using iron iii you can get something like 100k exp/h but at -6gp/exp. I have no idea about the other ones though. And if you forget a hammer there is always one on the bench at the entrance.
  7. Oh, have I been doing the math wrong? I just assumed because I saved 1.5% of bars that it reduced the gp/exp by that much. But if that's not the case then I'm always glad to save even more GP  It took me 34476 bars to make 7000 platebodies, if that helps any.
  8. Yes, but considering all of the people who were members and now are not (quit, back to F2P) I would say that estimate is too high. They said ~1M in the 'golden age' which I'll assume was 06/07. At that time they were making 27M pounds per year from members. From 08/09 they made over 36M pounds from members. From that and from what I've seen in terms of online numbers, I'll esimate 1.2M current members.
  9. with sc hammers or without? Would that include a scroll of effiency? Without SC hammers; 5 bars @ 2250 each (very easy to get them at this price, can even get them cheaper) = 11250 1 adamant platebody = 9850 (sold a bunch of them last night for this price Loss per platebody = 1400 Exp per platebody = 312.5 GP/exp = 4.48 Percent saved over my last 7k plates made with scroll= 1.5% GP/exp = 4.4128
  10. Hey, I recently have gone from 85 - 91 smithing (on my way to 99) in F2P and these are some options that I looked at; From 80 - 87/88 Artisans workshop - Using iron ingot i you can get ~40k exp/h and is very afk'able. Last I recall it was -2gp/exp. You could use iron ingot iii and get ~100k exp/h (I think) at -6gp/exp (again, as best as I can recall, Grimy took his spreadsheets down and I personally haven't tested this one). When doing AW, it's not really worth changing your items every time the caller calls a new item. Just pick one and stick to it and you'll be right 1/4 of the time. Iron platebodies - Buying iron bars and making iron platebodies is ~80k exp/h and is something like -6 gp/exp. Steel / Mith platebodies - Both are probably a bit too expensive at ~15 gp/exp. From 87/88 - 90 Making addy platebodies is -4.5 gp/exp if you buy the bars at 2250 each and sell at 9800 each (put an offer in and should buy with a little time). If you start this at 87 you will need dwarven stouts. I stouted from 87 - 88 and I must say, it was annoying at times. Stick an offer in the GE at like 100 gp per stout and you should get them quite soon. This ranges from 150-200k exp/h depending on how much attention you pay to it. As for mining, I would say that bots are too numerous to be worth it but you could try the wilderness or Crandor. Those places are far from a bank so remember a coal bag, otherwise it's simply not worth it.
  11. If I make a H&A thread about where the best place to cut yews is and someone posts 'don't cut yews, kill frost dragons and buy yews', it may not be trolling by the 'official' definition but it serves no purpose in the thread so I consider it 'trolling'. I have no problem with people posting efficient advice (in fact I encourage it), but it should always conform to the specifications set by the poster. Occasionally those 'efficiency trolls' can come off as quite condescending and that has no place here. To sum up my opinion; I have respect for those people who choose to play in an efficient maner and welcome their advice (Grimy's spreadsheets were amazing), but if someone does not ask for it, they shouldn't have put up with it.
  12. Why oh why couldn't they have at least put something on the cape to distinguish it more from skill capes?
  13. Makes me wonder if they called in everyone on the tech teams. I'm assuming that this happened on the night shift? Or what time do they change over? Because if it's just the night shift guys, we're doomed. You can get cannons back by talking to that dwarf from the quest. You know...that one...
  14. Don't worry guys, it's just Jagex's new anit-macro system. You see, the only way to prevent macros from playing is by preventing everyone from playing.
  15. Yeah, I've been (very slowly) working on a F2P skill money maker guide and I've noticed that prices are just stupidly low. Not only that, but with so many bots, it's impossible to find a place to skill.
  16. I would say there is another major influence. Capital. Blizzard is worth billions whereas Jagex is worth millions. Even if banning all bots would not mean Jagex losing any profit, they simply can't afford to spend all that money on an anti-macro system. The system they have now is exactly what I would expect any similarly sized company would have. It works well enough, but is very passive. It does not seek out botters, only catching them when they set of major triggers like 24/7 botting or walking into a wall for 3h.
  17. By god we've got it. I actually heard of these long ago (back before trade limit). As far as I know they just died out from lack of interest just like those quiz bots. Not to mention, the only people who have bot software aren't they people who normally want to clear bots.
  18. Really, it shouldn't matter if you send in 100 reports and only 50 turn out to be true because it goes through the anti-macro system before a human even has to worry about it.
  19. Actually, I'm not sure. PMod reports for things like scamming are read first, but I assumed that since macro reports went through an automated system, it was just put in the queue. I guess I was wrong...
  20. Jagex's macro detection software isn't 'non-existant' rather it's just a passive system requiring people to flag acounts for detection through reporting. I've been smithing in W7 for the last while and whenever I see a FM bot I report it and from what I've seen, most accounts are rolled back / banned within 48h (yes I keep tabs on them via highscores). One such account I found botting and I reported them. A few hours later I saw the same account under a different display name still botting. Again, reported. The next morning I did my daily check-up on some bots, low and behold, they were not on the highscores anymore. So while Jagex isn't doing a lot to get rid of bots, they're still far from doing nothing. The only 'problems' there are is that the system requires players to report the bots, and the punishments are too low.
  21. People bot for personal gains. These personal gains cause harm to the rest of the players (stealing spots, lowering prices, etc). So bots benifit at the expense of legitimate players.
  22. 'True morality comes not from doing the right thing for fear of consequences, rather doing what is right even in the absence of them.' Essentially, just because you put on a 'moral' face in real life does not mean that you are a moral person. I know of people IRL who 'show off' that they are all highly moral and 'above' the social tendancies and then spend their whole nights on 4chan looking at racism / porn / everything else that goes on there. What truly defines how 'good' of a person you are is what you do when no one is watching. These people who bot do so because they know they will not get caught. They may seem like nice people if you were to meet them on the street, but the fact that they take advantage of the system when 'no one is watching' says something about their true character as a person. People use the "it's just a game" argument far too much. Regardless of whether it's real life or 'just a game', your morals do not change. What changes is whether or not you show who you really are. That is different then actual cheating. The programers of the game programed those into the game and intended for people to use them. Jagex intentionally did not build cheats into the game because of the fair aspect to the game.
  23. From what I understand, half of the fishing spots now give 50% less exp. So essentially it's 75% as effective as before. I heard numbers up to 120k/h before (assuming you're not some sort of insane efficiency freak that never misses a game tick) so that's like 90k exp/h now. And with the large amounts of clicking involved in c2 fishing, I'd say fishing is not even near the easiest 99.
  24. Step 1 - Get said Mystery Mod to get up off their chair, walk over to MMG's office and kick him in the "lower body". If said Mystery Mod is MMG, he must find a way to kick himself. (Not because I don't like MMG, just to stick it to the man!) Step 2 - Go to the ess mine on W7 and clear out every single bot (EDIT: Seems the ess bots are outdated and the creators are not fixing them because of the lower prices, so instead we'll walk around to the common bot-hives) Step 3 - Have them dress in the highest costing items per slot and beg for GP. (Torva, blue phat etc) Step 4 - Get them clothed in a newb outfit (bronze, pick skirt etc) and have them dance and profess their love for me as I (EDIT: Doubling looks too suspicious and newbs may think that because I was legit others are too which would be a bad idea) hand out GP. Step 5 - If the J Mod restrictions allow, have them summon up 1000 cabbages and single handedly cabbage bomb the GE. If J Mods can't do that, have them help me cabbage bomb via another acc.
  25. This Rune Wiki Page should have what you want, and since it's just numbers the wiki should be pretty accurate. Here's a pic I took when a certain player was within like 1k of 99 in all skills (just before Dunge iirc). Since then he's gotten exp from Dunge so looking him up isn't usefull for number of 99's but you can compare this picture to the RSW link and see the number of 99's gained in just over 1 year.
