  1. I suggest reading Tipit's New P2P'er Guide (http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm) as it goes over many of the basics. When I first got members, I spent a few days just running around finding new things and trying them out. I also waited until I was ~1000 F2P total but any time is fine for becoming a member. As for skills, I can't really tell you what to do first, but I suggest trying out all member skills and read up a little bit into what they're like at higher levels. Here's a short rundown of the P2P skills; Construction - Build your own house. Pros - Guilded altar, teleports, places to store your costumes / pets, a place to make and call your own Cons - Expensive. You can dump 10M into making a few rooms look the way you want, decide you don't want them like that and just delete them and start again (I've done that a few times already) Agility - Running in circles Pros - Higher levels give access to shortcuts and run energy recharges faster Cons - All you really do to train is run in circles. Some people enjoy this, but I personally don't Herblore - Potion making Pros - Very usefull (untradable) pots at higher levels Cons - Very expensive to train Theiving - Steal from NPCs / stalls Pros - You can make money from stealing things like seeds, clue scrolls, and other loot Cons - Doesn't make as much money as some other skills, and quite repetative after hours of looting the same NPC Fletching - Make your own range items Pros - You can make your own wepons for ranging or alching Cons - Not much use since most items you only need 1 of which you can buy Slayer - Kill what an NPC tells you Pros - Decent long term profit Cons - To train you MUST kill what your master tells you to Hunter - Catch prey Pros - You can catch your own range wepons (chinchompas) and furs, etc Cons - Bot infested and most things are easily buyable Farming - Grow your own food / herbs Pros - Very good money maker for the time it takes toactually do Cons - Slow experience unless you train with trees which can get expensive after a while Summoning - Summon familiars to help woth everything from combat to firemaking Pros - Super usefull. BoB's can hold thigns for you, combat familiars help you fight things, and skill familiars can help you train skills Cons - Charms take a while to gather and buying the secondary ingredients and shards can cost a bit much sometimes
  2. Another reason is the popularity increase in efficient training. More and more people are doing research into the very best ways to train skills and that style of play has seem to have taken off recently.
  3. All the level 3, 4, 5's you see in this picture were spam bots, all on the same square all yelling their slogans.... In the few minutes it took to save and upload this pic, 11 more spambots showed up....
  4. Pretty much this. When getting 99 smithing I would get a random event every 438.5k exp. When alching, I think I got a random every ~230k exp. It was pretty funny saying 'oh look, here comes a random' 5 seconds before it showed up. Always confused people.
  5. A good way to avoid the bots is use foreign language worlds. As long as you're just doing one thing like mining that only requires seeing the items and not actually reading the language, you're fine. Also, here's a link to a guide I'm working on (very slowly). There's plenty of money making ideas in there. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqAjqwBrJ8opdGRIWlh6SXRKclB3bEcwZFNyQTVMTkE&hl=en_GB#gid=0 As a side note, if anyone wants to help me with verifying the numbers, send me a PM and I'll send details.
  6. I brought at least 8 nets and 8 ropes when I hunted reds because if you lag out there's a good chance you'll lose the ones that were out already. I also suggest bringing alch runes. For me,, it was less tedious than dropping and the free mage exp is nice as well.
  7. Just a quick check to 1 botting site shows over 35k users using a couple different frost bots. One certain bot has over 5400 DAYS logged over everyone of the members. So yes, it is that bad.
  8. Add me to Winnipeg, MB, Canada please?
  9. It's been long enough since free trade that everyone knows about the new restrictions (or lack of restrictions) on the GE. That sends lots of people flocking to the GE to flip which means people are going to keep undercutting everyone elses profit margins in order to have their offers filled first. I've seen this with yews. I used to flip at 5-6 gp margins, but it's been slowly narrowing down to 1-2 gp splits. It's not dead, just lower profit margins per item. Just do more items / hour.
  10. As I said, I never received a disc with my laptop. Would I be able to make a disc with the 'Recovery Disc Creator'? Or is that something completely different?
  11. Hey, so recently I've run out of space on my laptop's hard drive. I deleted all of the unneccesary movies / music / programs I could think of, but it still runs like crap and is badly fragmented (iirc it was at 31% fragmentation before defraggler got it down to 14%) so I've decided to format my HD and go back to a clean computer. I did not receive a Vista disc when I bought my computer, so I'm a little confused. Is this a good enough guide on how to do it? I've looked all over the internet and everyone seems to say something different and it's hard to tell what's right for me. After I format, will I have to re-enter my Microsoft Vista Licence? The only place this was written down was on the sticker on the bottom of my laptop which conveniently is worn off so I don't have the code anymore. Found it in my system settings If it matters, I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 running Windows Vista 64-Bit. Here's a pic that I took, I'm also wondering why my HD is split into different partitions (especially the ones that I can't access). So if anyone with knowledge in this can give me some pointers, tips, or a better guide (if the vid I posted is no good) that would be great. And yes, I have backed up all of my files on my external HD. Thanks.
  12. I managed pretty good mage exp alching while hunting red sallies. IIRC setting up and taking down traps are not interupted by alching. Alching the sallies that I got I could still manage a few hundred plates as well. I never paid much attention to exact exp rates, but it's another thing for the list of skills you can train whist alching.
  13. OH EM GEE!!!! THE OoC IS BACK!!!! KAH BAH GEE! I think I'm busy the 17th, but if I'm not too packed with baseball I'll try to make it out durring the week. Once more, I repeat; KAH BAH GEE!
  14. Holy Cabbage! Oreo just posted! Haven't seen him in forever! Oh, and hi2u too Toast. BOOM@
  15. Oh that would be neat! A whole clan city! If not move the POH there, there could be a wall of portals at the edge of the citadel map that can link to members' POH's.
  16. I had 15 deaths when I solo'd a 5:5 (well, the second half). Long story short, we struggled through a T11 merc room (was before nerf) and then 2 rooms later we found another one. Everyone rage quit and I figured I'd be the first F2P'er to solo a T11 merc room. It only took me 1 death (and an hour of resource gathering and teleing in and out) to beat the room but a few deaths throughout the dungeon (I cleared all non-dead end rooms), I ended up with a skele hoard room. Those things are bloody hard when they're all level 178 and you forget to turn on prayer every time you die :wall:
  17. I've been meaning to do the exact same thing with my Toshiba Satellite as well. Vista is just a resource hog so I'm buying a W7 disc and going to use that. Essentialy what you people are saying is that as long as I save any files / movies / music etc that I want, I can just save those to my external HDD and do a clean install, or do I need to save the drivers as well? Sorry for hijacking this thread Danq but I figured I'd ask here since it's relativly the same thread as I would have made.
  18. Yes, I noticed that they divided by 0 in their calculations. Someone should tell them about it before the rest of the citadels come down on our heads.
  19. I just found one in front of Fally East bank and came here to post on H&A and then I saw this thread.....cool idea, I loved the mysterious power and this is cool too. It would have been better if they did this before they announced it last week.
  20. Inb4stalkers I had thought of making something like this when I found out you could make maps like this but never got around to it. Glad someone did! EDIT: I didn't want to put my exact town since it's so small you could find me just by knowing the town but I do live in MB and go to school in Winnipeg. GO JETS GO!
  21. Assuming there is another one, and it follows that pattern it should be on the first weekend in September. I'd assume it would be announced either in August's BTS or a special post around that same time.
  22. I don't know the exp/h rates for red sallies because I did it over bxpw and the multiplier changed a lot, but I found that high alching any salies that I caught and addy plates when I would normally be waiting got me a nice amount of mage exp and I didn't have to worry about dropping them. To get to 80, you'll need 3331 red sallies which is an extra 217k mage exp and it takes no more time than actually dropping because you have to wait for the next catch anyway. I would estimate that you'de be able to get at least 300k mage exp if you brought something else to alch along. EDIT: I just looked up your mage exp and you're 99 already so you may not need the extra 300k mage exp from alching.... but it's an option.
  23. The only logical reason is that Jagex rolled him back every day for 5 months and he botted just enough exp back that the line went gradually down instead of straight down like z6's.....wait....that makes sence right? :shades:
  24. Yes, prayer gives combat levels. An account with all combat related skills at 1 but 99 prayer will be 15 combat.
  25. While that is true, these RWT sites have shown a lot of resiliance to 'natual' decreases in the price of gold. The $2.50 to $0.70 example was just to show that RWT sites are not shy about lowering prices to get an edge on the competition. Jagex sells gold for $0.50, RWT sites sell it for $0.45. Eventually this undercutting would only lead to the price of gold being incredibly low and that would only lead to massive inflation that would make the PVP statuettes look like a minor bump in prices.
