Wilderness and free trade vote! - Now Closed
It hasn't been that much since the 'good old days'. Back then, 1M/h was pretty good money so it goes to follow that now with 4M/h being good money the price of gold would be 1/4th of what it was.

They got really bad this summer, then died down a bit recently, but there were still at least 2 per day on W7 for the last month or 2. But yeah, they're getting worse again.

How long did that take you by the way? I didn't really time it but it was no less then 45 minutes, so it's by no means worth doing it in terms of exp rather then quitting and refinding a team but I hadn't heard of anyone doing it before so I figured I'd try. By the time I was done it I had fished out every spot (even heim crabs) and spent all but 5k of my GP (mined all ores / cut trees for GP).

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Has anyone thought about what will happen to rares when Jagex says "Okay, so the vote was unanimous so we will go back and slowly start changing wilderness related activities. Once we're done that in 3 months, then we'll reinstate free trade and old PKing." Because honestly, it's not going be be as quick as a simple flip of the switch and BAM free trade. Jagex has to overhaul a lot of things like becons and clues. I very highly doubt they'll update and ask questions later, and with Jagex's tendancy to take a while it certainly won't be instant. And while I'm at it, what do you think will happen to the GE? Will they just remove the price restrictions? Or will they actually remake it?

Looks at siggy :shades: [sarcasm] Merc is underpowered, Jagex needs to disable tele's in the room [/sarcasm]

Well, with a free trade market, GP will not be undervalued like it was for so long durring that 76k'ing inflation (and to a lesser extent now) so I'm sure most people won't worry too much if they have a large cash pile. Though, those people with over the trade limit could be looking for other items. But with an open GE people could lock away 6 piles by offering 1 gp for 2.14B of any item which is pretty much people do now, but far less risk. Also, I'm sure the really really rich people are just going to keep stocking up on rares like those people who bought hundreds of eggs / pumps / disks when they were 100% junk and just wait the market out.

Introductions & Farewells
Hey! Welcome here. Tipit's a really great community. To help keep GenDisc more directly related to Runescape discussion there is a thread to introduce yourself, found here: http://forum.tip.it/topic/276124-introductions-farewells/ If you have any questions about Tipit don't hesitate to PM me, or a moderator, or even anyone else really. We're always glad to help!

Old stakers returning = lots of peehats That's assuming people who quit this game 3 years ago still follow the news which is unlikely. Perhaps they play other games and there will me murmurs around, but I would venture a guess and say the number of old school stakers who quit returning will be quite small.

Well, I would argue that fansites like tipit are the 'educated' community and the mindless hoards of pures / children / noobs are just following the 'mob mentality' and going along with what everone else says without thinking about what would be best for the continuity of the game. From what I've seen here and heard about similar polls on fansites, the 'educated' players seem to be 60% for, 40% against which is far from the "vast majority" Jagex was looking for. I guess everyone should be considered part of the RS community. But even if you just look at RSOF, the people who use punctuation, capitals, sentence structure are generally agaisnt it and 'da ppl hu tak like dis' are for it. I'm talking in general, there are crossovers. I guess this is the sort of community we get when most players are just 14 year old boys

Claws vs Extremes
Claws = 28.4M Exp needed for 85 = 1,250,000 gp/exp you can afford just from claws = 22.7 So yes, you can pretty easily get 85 from 80 just from your claws. When training herb I usually use prayer pots because they're easy to buy / sell en masse. P pots are 20 gp/exp so yeah, it's easy to get and from previous posts, it's worth it.

Wilderness confirmed
#-o Looks just like the other fake.... seriously, Jagex telling its employees about game changing updates in a "super secret forum"?

Wilderness and free trade vote! - Now Closed
I've already run into a few players sitting at the GE claiming they were writing scripts to cast mass votes. Hopefully Jagex monitors who exactly is voting because someone has said they already used Zezima's name to vote <_< Anyway, if this is coming back, there BETTER be restrictions like, account must be at least 2 years old with 1000 total and be a member. Because without it, nothing to stop the level 3 bots from coming back.

20-Dec-2010 - O Little Town of Daemonheim (Christmas 2010)

Not exactly a good thing there K4ylan, what's with your emotes being different than everyone else's? 0.o How so? They have little white patches on the corners. A little side note: Exams are done for me now and I've decided to reward myself for a 'good' semester with a membership. Sorry to be leaving you folks, let's just hope I don't become an efficiency troll while I'm there  I'll be sure to stick around this thread because I've had enough experience with F2P that my opinion should still matter ... right? Anyway, Keep on rocking in the free world!

Free Trade and Old Wilderness back [21-Dec-2010]
I can see this going very badly. Just making it that much easier for RWTers. Sure, it was nice to get the items from the kill you had, but it's like knowing your Christmas present before you get it. There's no fun in that. Also, I see this as a ploy to get people to come back after quitting. It's almost like Jagex is getting 'despirate' for players. I didn't think it was nearly to that point yet. I'd say, put it off a couple years until the player base starts to really fall off, then do it.

is there a way to write something for a long time ?
When I am there I do my part to take care of them, but oddly enough they just keep coming back! Bloody idiots...

First line in the macro section of the rules.

Max Level Cap increased to 120?
The whole idea of raising levels to 120 goes with the idea that Jagex would introduce much harder bosses. GWD was designed with level 100-110s in mind, before Summoning/Extremes/Curses/Chaotics/Spirit shields/etc. If Jagex were to update stats to 120, I'm sure they'd introduce *much* harder bosses, ones that groups of level 138s with Divines would have trouble killing. Also, you finished your post with "Discuss" again #-o

No-Lifeing
To be honest, it's not really our place to judge those people who 'no-life' but when I do come across them, I make sure to let them know that staring at a screen for hours upon hours a day is not healthy regardless of what you're doing. When it's for a job, it's a "neccesary evil" that you must live with in order to make a living, but if it's for a game? :shame: Also, like I always say in the 1853 times this topic has been made over the years, if someone is spending many hours a day playing Runescape (or any other game for that matter) some other part of thier life is being put on the backburner. Whether it's social life, career, even hygene that gets replaced by games, it has a negative affect on the persons life. Games are meant to be a way to pass your spare time, once they start to take over your normal life routine, then it becomes unhealthy.

Best F2P money-making strategy ATM?
I just ran a test and at 81 fishing, fishing lobsters is 45k/hour (assuming stable price for raw lobs is 200 each). So that could be another good way if you like fishing.

Kid, you're a Noob, Nerd.
I really hate to be that guy, but you don't have to say "Discuss" at the end of every post. It is General Discussion, we'll discuss whether you tell us to or not. As to your post, well... I see these people more then most because I seem to attract the "zomg ur a mod u snitch nerd" folks. To be quite honest, I don't feel bothered that they are trying to insult me, more bothered because this is the state of our generation (note: some players don't fall within this generation, but most do). I actually feel bad for them that they don't see how foolish they look (and often are).

Best F2P money-making strategy ATM?
Wow, I never knew muddy chest was F2P... is this new or have I been wrong all this time? I recently did some tests for a friends and got these; Level 2 giant spiders - between Lumby and Draynor Drops worth taking: Earth talisman Gp/h = 50k Notes: No need to wear armour if you're over 50 combat. Just a Rune scim, power / str ammy, and maybe some other cosmetic gear. Level 13 elemental wizards - near Rimington mine Drops worth taking: Fire rune, water rune, air rune, earth rune, fire talisman, water talisman, air talisman, earth talisman Gp/h = 75k Notes: They attack with magic so metal armour is not advised. Wearing d'hide would be best, though I wore RC robes and never got under 750/870 LP. This also gives ~25k combat exp/h Some other good methods are cutting oaks just outside Varrock east or west gates, mining iron ore / ess / copper, or killing hill giants. As for flipping, it all depends on how much GP you have to work with. I often flip yew logs. At 25,000/4hours limit, you can put something like 13M into them every 4 hours. What I usually do is: If they're falling - buy 11 GP under med price, sell 1 gp under med. (Note - you should sell them before the next GE update to avoid losing potential GP due to a lower med price) If they're stable - buy 5 GP under med, sell 5 GP over med. If they're rising - buy 1 GP over med, sell 11 GP over med. (Note - if you think they will continue to rise, then you can hold onto them) With this, you can see that you can make 250k/4h. Though if you only have 13M you will have to alternate buying and selling 4h limits so the profit will be 250k/8h. Also note that these are general guidelines and are a very 'dumbed down' version of my methods so they may not provide guarenteed profit margins, but it's a good guide to get you started.

07-Dec-2010 - Warriors Guild and Dragon Defender
If people are looking for good ways to get rid of helms, since they're F2P but need members to get, many F2P'ers are willing to pay a lot for them. Last night I saw 3 people just wandering around the GE asking if people had the helms because they were looking to buy. I think they usually were offering 1-2M, not sure what the 'real' street price is on them, but if you have F2P junk, then you might as well try.

F2P -> P2P Dungeoneering
Hey! So I've been thinking that getting a month or 2 of P2P would be a great way to celebrate the end of final exams (only if I do well of course). One of the main things I want to do is some serious dungeoneering because the 50% exp reduction in F2P is killing me. I'm wondering, are there any big differences in P2P dungeoneering other then bigger badder monsters? What should I bind? What world would be my best bet to get some decent exp and not get too many noobs? You know...general questions like that... If someone who's done F2P and P2P could answer that would be best to get a fair comparison, but anyone is welcome to pitch in. My stats are in my sig. Thank you in advance

So according to that, no F2P mage spells will ever be reduced because the single hit max is below 200. That means that melee is the only type that will be reduced. So does that mean that mage robes will be the only noteworthy defence update for F2P? I've read that Jagex will use this to enforce the combat triangle. Is that confirmed or just hearsay?
