  1. Now THIS is the sort of thing I was lookign for. The CCCP was nice but with a 1GB USB it would take forever to transfer files. I downloaded Dropbox, but it's a 2GB max (if I was willing to pay, i would just buy one of those file transfer USB thingys) so transfering would stil be a pain in the butt. Adhoc hasn't worked for me and Filezilla looks confusing. I have the folder I want to share set to share to everyone and my mini can recognise my laptop, but when I open the link to the computer, it just comes up blank. Can someone give me some sort of step by step guide to this? I've tried but everything I find is made for techno-geeks and I'm not that sort of person.
  2. With lobsters so bloody low why would you use any other food? Especially when F2P (the majority of players) only really have lobs and swordies. Tripple the price for 2 hp extra? No way!
  3. I have tried to set up adhoc but like I said, I'm a computer nooby so I must have done something wrong because I couldn't get my mini to recognise my laptop. As for sbrideau, I prefer to transfer the files wirelessly because my USB is only 1GB, and you can imagine moving 100GB of files 1GB at a time.... though, I've put more time into researching how to transfer then it would have taken manually. But thanks for the link. I'll look into it if I am stuck with manual transfer.
  4. Hey, a couple months ago I won an HP mini from a university draw. Because I have already got a laptop I've let my brother use the mini for casual web surfing etc. Lately I've been hard pressed to find space on my laptop and I'm wondering if there's a way for me to wirelessly transfer files from my laptop to my mini? I have tried to use things like USB's and even my brothers and my MP3 players to manually transfer the files, but any time I do, the movies (which are a large chunk of the files) become another format and only play with audio. I've also tried using my laptops 'wireless file sharing' feature but my mini never recognises my laptop. I am not a computer geek so any ideas you have will have to be spelled out clearly in english with step by step instructions. Laptop http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=223&product=8970&part=8870#spectop Not the exact model, but the closest thing I can find. Mini http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/[garden tool]/WF06b/321957-321957-3832382-3832383-3832383-3943764-3979285.html TIF censors the URL, so replace [garden tool] with an 'h' and an 'o' So, is there any way for me to transfer files wirelessly from my laptop to my mini? Thanks in advance
  5. Back before last summer (before the manip clan boom) I used to cut emeralds for exp. Most of the time it was arround 3 gp/exp but then the rogue who bought jewelery increased the gap between uncut emerald and cut to arround 10 gp/exp. Since the 'nerf' of the rogue this gap is a bit lower. If you were to do this today I calculate that it's 7.4 gp/exp (using weekly averages). If you wait to time your buying and selling, you could get it as low as 5.7 gp/exp. With this method I could get 200k+ exp/hour so you're looking at ~55 hours from 80-99. Compared to 30k exp/hour for gold ammys which is ~367 hours. So.... 80M GP / 310 hours saved = 258k per hour. Pretty much, if you make 250k per hour or more, it is worth your time to use emeralds and then use the saved time to make money. Because F2P money making maxes arround 120k (other then rune mining). At this point in time, it's not worth cutting emeralds unless you have a large GP pile to burn. Sorry, I didn't really help you at all. This was just more of me putting my thoughts into text because I've been thinking about getting 99 crafting.
  6. In the 'Glory Days' I went on a bot hunt at the willows south of Port Sarim and wrote down all the bots names in a word doccument to copy and paste to Jagex. I found between 150 and 200 bots just in that one location. So assuming 200 bots on the world and 1500 players per world, that gives 13% of online accounts which were bots (very rough number, but I can believe it). So assuming that the max number of people online this year is 200k (Mil's chart), we can assume that if there was the same ratio of bots, then we would be at 225k players which is very close to the normal high points in 2007. So pretty much, we have nearly the same number of legit players online now as 2007.
  7. They do have systems in place, but just like all of their systems, it misses a good percentage of offenders....So yeah, it's almost like they've gone to the honour system with lots of rules which hurts me deeply because I've spent years trying to keep the game free of cheaters, immature jerks and the like.

  9. At your level, you'll get a fair number of herby levels (depends of course on the size of your ranarr collection). I know personally, I would take the minimal loss of 'potential profit' in exchange for herby levels which tend to be quite costly. Plus, you'll have a nice stock of P pots which (in my case) tend to disappear quickly forcing more and more trips to the GE.
  10. Hey! Welcome to Tipit Forums, it's really a great place. There is a thread for introductions like this in order to keep the General Discussion forum moving at a nice pace. You can find it here http://forum.tip.it/topic/262610-introductions-farewells/ Again, welcome here, if you ever need anything, feel free to PM me on here, or you could find a Forum Mod.
  11. That's true, but with the number of people camping at greens and the grinding aspect, it's not really something a returning player would like to do for fun. Slayer combines EXP with GP and gives are nice amount of variety which is key when coming back into the game. My suggestion, click the skill icons in the skill tab. There, you'll find most of the things you can do with the skill. Then just look through all of the skills and see if anything catches you eye. So much has been released in 3 years that I can't possibly say everything so that's a good way to see the skill related activities in the game.
  12. Due to price hikes, you won't be able to get a whole lot with 3.5m. A fun start I think, would be buying a whip and full rune and doing slayer (do "Smoking Kills" first so that you can get slayer points for rewards). Slayer makes a decent profit (herb costs are nuts), and you;ll get plenty of charms for summoning which is the most usefull and versatile skill in RS.
  13. It is manipulators taking advantage of the broken system. If people didn't hoard items, we really wouldn't ever hit many problems.
  14. Yeah, since the 'lower rares' hit ~100M, very few people actually buy/sell there anymore as far as I've seen. I guess that's just a byproduct of santas costing over 1000 hours of money making in F2P.
  15. Didn't Jagex recently state somewhere they needed a whole week to fully test a planned update? (can't find a link, but I'm sure I read it, dev blog or something... #-o ) And now they are able to release two updates on 3 days. :o Well, they do have different teams working on different projects at the same time. I'm not sure how many people they have in thier QA team, but I'm sure they could put a couple people on each project then focus on CWars testing between the updates.
  16. OOPS, sorry. The way I first read the C Wars update made me think that they split the update in 2 so they could release the finished parts before the weekend. I went back and reread the post and there is no mention of a CW batch 2. My mistake....
  17. List from page 116(?) Lumbridge - Blood Pact Quest Fishing - Fish Flingers Dungeon - Dungeoneering (there are some pre-batch 2 updates coming) Easter - Easter Event Elite Ac - Elite achievement diary FT3 - Fairy Tale 3 quest CastleWars - Castle Wars mini-game update Thieving - Thieving skill update Court Room - More court cases involving the Court House from King's Ransom (unless it's Count Room, then it probably relates to the hole with a cage put in Count Victor Draynor Drakan's room in Draynor Manor) EW3 - Elemental Workshop 3 quest So, if they stick to the list, it looks like we'll be getting any of these (if not all) in June Elite Diaries Courtrooms D'eering Pre-Batch 2 (see dev blog). EDIT - No CW Batch 2, I should learn to read....
  18. What the table means is the levels that you stop burning the fish at. So, pretty much, start cooking the highest fish you can once you have the level to never burn it; 75 - 81 Lobs 81 - 92 Swords 92 - 94 Monks 94 - 99 Sharks OR you could just forgo the monks and sharks and do rocktails at 90.
  19. Lesser Demons are not good exp. Some options I can think of are; Flesh Crawlers - Floor 2 of the Stronghold of Security under Barbarian Village. You can either use the South-East corner, or the North-West (but has zombies that hit more then crawlers, but not much more). You can either use tuna/lobs and bank in Varrock or bring fishing pole and feathers and fish trout/salmon and cook in the helmet shop. Moss Giants - Crandor. You can fish lobs/swords on Karamja or just ask for someone to give it to you. Bring alch runes because they drop some decent stuff. Also, you get big bones which helps for prayer because it's sooo expensive in F2P. I'll add more if I can think of some more.
  20. No, it doesn't, except the same things that affect the mods also affect the base exp. So, if you don't kill anything, you not only won't get the level mod, but the base exp will be reduced.
  21. The hobgoblin / BH seems the best fit with your skills and you'll get str exp. But if you ever are looking for a break from that (or are on a failing streak with targets), you could try GOP. If your team wins 50% of the altars, then you'll get 1500 tokens / hour which will give 30 talismans / hour. Then if you buy water talismans (typicly ~6k each), then you're looking at 180k / hour + any runes you make. That's pretty much one of the best skill - related moneymakers other then high leveled things like rune mining.
  22. @Ampharaos; The exp reduction may work (they've proved they can boost it with the exp weekend), but I can't see a limit of picking things being viable. It just seems like too much work in order to allow bots to function (but at a reduced rate). The only way that I can even be close to accepting a 14-day ban would be if jagex started adding wipes to that. If you're caught auto-training, stat wipe (full, not just the stat you're botting). If you're caught 'making money', then a full bank wipe. If Jagex is going to insist on being THAT weak on bots, the least they could do is wipe the account to make it a lot harder to succesfully bot for a second time.
  23. It's an "M" But yeah, this is a HUGE slap in the face to legitimate players. I have spent years gaining levels and spending time ingame and some lazy jerks just bot for a couple weeks and get just as high levels. This game is for humans not robots!
  24. I tried to aproximate the exp/hour making air runes in the dungeon and in 15 minutes I got just over 1k exp (at 75 RC). So the hourly rate should be around 4-5k exp/hour with air runes. In the 15 minutes, I started with ~50k, bought ess, made airs, sold them then did one more round and that brought me to 14 minutes. I can't really tell how the exp/hour will differ with more GP (depends on crafting time vs. selling time).
