Expensive F2P Outfits?
But pretty much all of the lvl 3 skillers you see are wearing wizzy (g), he'll look just like everyone else if he goes with that. It looks good, but it's nothing really out of the norm. Something else I have to add, instead of talisman staff, try a nature staff (for green GOP robes) or a law staff (for blue GOP / wizzy (t)/(g)). Hardcore dungeoneerers don't "waste" tokens on these staffs because they don't save any GP, but they sure do look nice. In the last month, I've seen 3, and one of those is mine, so rare to see and looks good = perfect! And everyone wants a skiller in their party to lower then exp reduction so most people won't care if you 'leech' so it's really easy to get 12k tokens.

Expensive F2P Outfits?
Most of F2P's expensive gear is trimmed armours so a skiller won't be able to wear them. Your best bet is to go with some GOP robes with a talisman staff. Players continually are 'impressed' with this when I'm wearing it, so a level 3 with it should give you that 'elite' look you're looking for.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
I think you're kind of lieing. Theres no way purps could ever go that low. Mink who invested (almost) all of his street on ammies sold 4 purps for 1.1B each. Took no more than 30 minutes, too. Oh sorry, I guess I must have mis-seen something, but I could swear I saw someone selling a purple for 500M on the RSOF yesterday night. But right now all I can find is 2 pumpkin offers which is arround 1B so I guess you're right. Now that I think about it, they may have meant purple partyhat and 500M in ammys which is about 1B.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Well I guess this ends Accuracy's use as junk. I was kinda hoping that they would fall very gradually so that they would cause more and more rare owners to sell off a rare or 2 cheep to get rid of them. I saw a purple go for 500M with accuracies so I guess I was hoping for a real meltdown of the rare market... oh well. EDIT: Wow, they even changed the description to tell players that the Wizard sells them

Time from 50-70 Prayer?
Since you're 40 summoning, then I assume no BoB. Grimy's spreadsheets say that you can get 1017 bones/hour but that's peak efficiency. For me personally, I multiply his numbers by .75 because I usually lose time due to talking, other tabs etc. Since you need 2.5k D Bones to get 70, that means it will take anywhere from 2.5 - 3.5 hours.

Is RuneScape filling a void?
Good point. As a computer science major, I could argue that playing video games sparks my creativity in software that helps me much more in my field than reading fictional books would. I could argue that my extensive reading has increased both my reading speed/comprehension, as well as my writing. Runescape's increased my reading speed/comprehension, writing, as well as my social and problem solving skills. I'm in the same boat. I've actually thought about making a topic in GenDisc about how playing Runescape and being a Player Mod have actually greatly benefited my life. Not only have I learned how to talk to others in a respectful manner, I've also helped more then my fair share of people learn to do the same. I've even counceled a player out of a depression. It took months of befriending, talking, working over some issues but in the end he eventually quit RS to pursue some pretty incredible real life things. He came back a few months later and from the sounds of it, I actually drasticly changed his life forever. I'm not trying to toot my own horn. Rather, what I'm saying is that like anything in life, what you get out is completely subjective to what you put in, and are willing to accept out of it.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Finally got 70 Dungeoneering and 70+ all levels again. Now I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm so tired of the insane exp reduction that I'm going to take a break from dunge. Someone should give me ideas on what to do. Stats are in sig. I prefer skilling > killing and I have enough money, but I'd rather not part with a large chunk because I mass flip and it only works well with loads of cash, or in case I ever get p2p and need to get some weapons/armour.

12-Oct-2010 - Charm Sprite Hunting
New F2p spell - Wind Rush (level 1) Max hit - 10 LP EXP per cast - 2.5 xp Cost - 2 air runes (free with air staff) Overall, this spell is pretty good for newbies. With 3 seconds and 2.5 exp per cast, then you're looking at 3000 exp per hour with continuous 0's (such as on the chaos druid in Varrock castle), but it's not like anyone is going to be afk'ing this for 99.

I also have never had any 'ragequiters'. Though, there are a fair number of people who underestimate the time to do a 5:5 large and end up having to leave near the end due to parents / class / other reasons. That, and the people who lag out. Now that there are official worlds, everyone seems to do dungeoneering on those worlds which makes things really sketchy if your internet connection is already weak. The other day I was doing f34 with a 5:5 large where 1 person had to leave 20 minutes in and 2 people were having connection issues such that they were logged in far less then logged out. The game didn't shut us down because we had done all the rooms that needed 5 people but have you ever done a monolith room meant for 5 lvl 100+ when you've got a 102 and a 105? Yea... 4 deaths, but we managed. And what did we get for our 1h20m? A super generous 4.5k exp! Thank you Jagex for being so nice to us F2Pers who chose to train all our skills and not just the ones that will keep our combat below 90 or break the rules by either multi-logging with lvl 3's or encouraging others to break the rules by afking...

Fletching isn't coming F2P any time soon so you can just go ahead and burn those logs.

Or just go to a populated world and beg. Last time I was at Barb (for Gunnars Ground) there were plenty of fish on the ground ready to be cooked in the helmet shop.

Okay, thanks :) They are afkable for 20 minutes at a time arent they? Something like 20 minutes. Make sure you use the room on the south-east (there is one in the middle somewhere but I'm not sure where). That room only has fleshies and no skeletons which will tear you appart as a pure. When I trained there, I brought 10 str pots (4) and the rest swordies, but that was long before str pots jumped in price. But I'd suggest, best armour you can take, a str pot or 2, and the rest lobs/swordies. As for profits...it all depends how much you want. Definitely pick up the uncuts. If you really want to pick up runes, they build up pretty quickly, though, they are not worth a whole lot. When I trained, the uncuts paid for my str pots I used and the runes paid for the food. I used at least 10 str pots per trip so if you're not using any / one or 2 then that will be profit. Also, pick up the staff parts when you have room. They make a nice looking collection. I got over 600 staff parts just from picking them up when I had extra inv space.

Um, don't? Lexicus hits too hard. Also, most of the books have ridiculously low HP, easy 1 hits. If you're with someone else, you can split that up. It makes killing lexicus take about the same time too - you're not eating as much. cba making arrows or runes lol. thx for the info about the books. Just bind 125 frac arrows. They auto equip on start now so they don't take a spot and they come in very useful. That way, you just have to find a bow to kill Lex. Or, you could just bind 125 deaths, and make airs if you find Lex. I've actually found that binding a spinebeam longbow is VERY worth it. Most bosses are a lot easier with range, and also that way you can safespot those lvl 111 warriors you find and save your prayer for the boss.

Timewise, is it worth it to train with the Master Penance Horn?
http://forum.tip.it/forum/11-help-%26-advice/ If it makes you miserable thinking about efficiency, DON'T! Too often people put aside fun for the sake of efficiency. I tell people this all the time: If you don't like something in RS don't do it. There are 27 skills and hundreds of other things to do that finding something fun should not be hard. You don't like finding teams? Then don't. Just go do those skills without the little bonus.

Bank Pin
This. A few days ago I decided to chop yews for fun and I went to Rimmington. There were like 10 players there, none talked and all had abnormally high wc levels. I decided to search the internet to see how easy it was to get a wc bot for F2P to see the chances they were bots. After ~15 minutes of searching I found several sites with bots. I didn't click on any links on the sites, or download anything. I scanned my computer before I logged back into RS and BAM 6 trojans / java exploits. I looked back at the 'event log' on my firewall and it had blocked at least 10 more. It`s the RS related sites that you really have to worry about. They`re the ones after your account. The keyloggers and such you can get from other sites (most of the time from `adult sites`) don`t care about your RS account, rather, Your RL bank account. So as long as you stay away from iffy RS sites, you should be fine. But Even saying that, I still think that a bank PIN is worth it. For the 15 seconds it takes to put it in, it could save hundred of hours worth of GP making in the case that you are hacked.

What needs to be "Tweaked" in RS?
The Grand Exchange - It's a wonderful system of supply and demand driven prices with caps to prevent excessive price changes, but it's been figured out and manipulated to the point where some items are either rediculasly priced and not worth buying because it's going to fall 50% in a week, or impossible to buy an item because of false demand. I don't know how they could fix this without creating many other issues. I have had a few ideas, but after thinking about them for a little while I already found holes in them which means the 'pros' whos main goals are to find ways to 'break' the GE to make money would obviously find ways. But something needs to be changed with the current system.

21-Sept-10 Gunnar's Ground
C'mon! The update hasn't even happened yet and you know it sucks? At least do the quest and give it a chance. Not everything can be "OMG a new grand master quest with a new weapon that lets me hit 999999!".

Website Change Alert
I used UrlyWarning when I did GE camping. You can set the exact page you want, and you can have multiple pages, so I set one to the main GE page as well as one for each of the items I was tracking, as well as one item I knew would update (usually bought out items work well) just to make sure. The frequency that you check can be changed to as little as one minute. With 6 URLs, it effectively checked the GE every 10 seconds. You can find it through google. If you need help with it, just PM me on the forums.

Yeah, it's not much of a difference but that 5k/hr adds up over the 13M Xp it takes to get 99. It's still good Xp/hr, and, as I said before, excellent when you add the fact that you're banking ores while doing it. Yeah, it really adds up fast. Powermining at 35k exp/h would take 350 hours from 70-99. Banking would take 410 hours. That's a difference of 60 hours, or 17%. I for one would not like to spend 17% more time on a skill that I really hate. Then again, power mining is also a fair bit more borring then banking so I'd have to test it to see if the speed was worth the price. The 350,000 ores it takes from 75-99 would equate to 78.75M which is a whole lot of money even for a person like me who has a lot already. With these values, it's closer to 1.3M gp/h that you'd have to make in order to have power mining be 'worth it' just in terms of getting a 99 as well as 80M. Of course, if you're planning on making money after 99 mining, you might as well mine rune which can make nearly that much. So I guess it's all up to personal preference; powermine and mine rune later, or just bank all your ores and sell them.

How intense were you paying attention? Because that exp rate may inspire me to get mining (my most hated skill) up, but if you were staring at the screen never blinking just to get fastest exp, it's not a sustainable pace. With that exp, you're getting 840 ores per hour. With the price of iron being 222 last I checked, that's 186k per hour which is quite good for F2P.

120 Dungeoneering Finally Reached!
104M exp in 133 days = 782k exp/day. That folks, is nuts. I don't know the exp rates (most of it was done before the new floors), but still ... I don't mean to be one of the flamers, but hopefully he/she returns to a balanced lifestyle after this. Playing that much per day is slightly more then 'in your spare time'. Congrats to them nonetheless. =D>

OMG, further more cap? why cant they give a peaceful world of f2p without p2p content. it is making f2p much like a demo where they say they want to remove p2p content from f2p. Yeah...more caps would be great, because tripple penalizing us for missing P2P doors, and then another 50% reduction after the fact just because I've been playing long enough that I'm over 90 cb sounds too generous.

It all depends on what you think is fun. For me, P2P just ends up being a grindfest because I want to get my 'moneys worth'. I prefer the laidback feel that F2P has. But, by all means, stay P2P if you enjoy it. RS is nothing if you don't have fun.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
I was 2M from buying a purple and then they skyrocketed to what they are now. Maybe one day there will be some sort of phat crash I had an offer for a red ready and was going to hit offer (when they were still junk) but I thought "I'll wait a day or two to save myself a mill or 2". BAM! Next update they were bought out and I haven't been able to get one since. /sob-storry OT: Which of the new items are for F2Pers (if any)? I am a fasion > function kinda guy and I'd love to get into something other then my GOP robes. And if any are F2P, what sort of prices am I going to have to pay? I've got cash burning a hole in my bank (actually 1M gold ore that's depreciating like no ones business) so I'm willing to put forward a decent amount for some cool armour.
