  1. About a year ago Jagex has an ad on their homepage that said "Over 130 million accounts created". Say... 20M more between that time and the new tutorial and you've got 150M accounts made. So even if 1% of accounts have 1 WC and Mining (not unreasonable to assume seeing as there are gazillions of pures who don't train skills) then there are still 1.5M accounts with 1 Mining / Wc. So no, no where near what 9 HP accounts are.
  2. Well, they did say they listened to players opinions about the hitsplat thing so the chances of that one failing went from 50% to 49%. Regardless, the defence update has been needed for a while and it's nice to see Jagex is doing something about the state of rushing PKing.
  3. Well, if reduction and soaking are indeed different, then perhaps the SS's will have both? Not sure what that would do as for prices, but it would at least keep them usefull.
  4. Noob Boy's beeen a member before. He has unranked xp and I've seen him wearing a mage cape and black cavalier in-game. It's shocking how far some people are willing to go to become a member of a virtual group. That's odd because he told me he was pure F2P... but he never asked to be on the list so not sure why he'd lie. Oh well, if he's been P2P before, then disregard my last post.
  5. Today I dunged in W7 and ran into someone named "Noob Boy38". 100% F2P and 1453 total. I asked him if he wanted to be on the list and he was genuinly interested in what it was but we finished the floor and he left before giving me a straight answer. Don't know if you prefer 'permission' to add people to the list, but I'll leave the name here and let you do what you wish with it.
  6. Awe, sorry. Most of the time I don't pay attention to public chat because I have to much else to pay attention to. HYT!
  7. I'm pretty sure it's annoying everywhere... honestly, who needs to see the examines for items on the ground? Other then examining, it only helps if there are like more then 25 (?) items on the ground which is easy enough to pick up a few to see the bottom.
  8. So, I started a 5:5 F31 med on W7, it was a pretty good team but then 1 person had to go. Slowly we lost people until it was just me left. From the map, I could tell there were only 3 doors left to do. I figured I would try to finish it myself. First room was a few lvl 50's, killed them easy. Next room Mercenary room :wall: . I thought "I wonder if anyone's solo'd a T11 merc room in F2P". So I did. 1 hour later, I beat the room with only 1 death. Opened the boss room... skeltal hoarde :wall: . No pray left and no GP for food, but I'm going to do this! Will edit post when I win  EDIT: Boss room was not that bad only took 10-15 minutes. Died many times, but that's just because I forgot that prayer replenished on death so it never crossed my mind to pray <_< With pray, I probably could have gotten away with 1-2 deaths because most of the time closing a tunnel was a suicide run.
  9. Yeah, I've found that W7 actually isn't that bad as long as you avoid the parties that are obviously going to suck like the ones where the leader is a level 80 pure who is auto-spamming, or those elitists who say '100 cb minimum'. They may be slightly slower then the pro DG teams, but they're actually quite fun.
  10. See, judging from this post and from past ones I've seen, you're part of the "problem". I'm not trying to be rude, but when you use words and sayings like the ones I've bolded, where there is no positive outcome from using them, it just lumps you in with the rest of those who don't care about being a positive contributer to society. I'm fine with a little slang here and there, but when you use negative slangs like 'butthurt' it just reflects badly on you. As to my answer to the question: When society is shifting towards a much more 'me' related way of thinking rather then the good of the whole, there is little you can do to keep it out of a game where the target audience is the very generation which is driving this shift in society. I'm ashamed to be part of this generation and do my part to try to teach people that thinking of and respecting others should be your primary focus in life, but it seems that for every nice person you see in my generation, you see 100 more who would much rather get what they want, when they want, and are willing to run over anyone who gets in their way, rather then what's best for them or society as a whole.
  11. These numbers are from the depths of my memories, so if someone sees issues with them, please correct me. Mining Iron ore in Dwarven Mine, banking in resource dungeon 1k ores per hour without competition, 500 with competition / hopping time etc = 100 - 200k/h Woodcutting Yews at Edgeville (full, little bank time), Rimington (full, high bank time), Falador (Few people, medium bank speed) 150 logs per hour with little competition, 75 when fighting bots / players = 38 - 75k/h Oaks at Falador East bank (empty, only 1), Varrock East Bank (out of city gates, empty, medium bank time, multiple trees), Varrock West bank (full, medium bank time) 700 logs per hour with no competition, 400 with competition which is rare in most tree locations = 35 - 62k/h I'll add more later, my roomates want to do some Christmas baking so I had better go ... <_<
  12. Well, considering that Thanksgiving is an American holiday (we have it in Canada too, but it's in October), I personally believe that this is more then enough. It's good that Jagex recognises that the USA makes up a good chunk of the players, but it's still not worth having a whole unique event every year.
  13. That, and the fact that anyone who's GOP'ed a decent amount knows that yellow seems to win a lot, so they try to get onto yellow thus imbalancing it even more.
  14. Yeah, lobsters are quite bad. I've seen you link to that blog post a few times now and I always have the same thought; You may be right, but you give no proof of it. Without actual speed and viability tests that blog is nothing more then your opinion that you seem to be trying to pass off as truth. Also, he isn't asking for the best moneymakers in F2P, he's asking for best fish money makers. In which case, lobsters are quite good. I'm not sure if they're the best (I had done tests but deleted the results from my notes tab before I could save them somewhere else) but they are still one of the better moneymakers in F2P fishing. If I remember correctly, I averaged 250 lobs per hour which would equate to ~50k gp/h and ~25k exp/h but I suggest you do your own tests Tetora69, and see what you like best.
  15. I asked that question on the RSOF quite a while ago. I wanted my friend in the US to buy me one (Canada didn't have cards yet). All the players who posted said yeah go for it, but a Jagex mod brought it up from the dead just to tell me it was against the rules. So yeah... it's not like they're really going to know or care, but it is technicly against the rules.
  16. People are acticing surprised that he actually called them "patent trolls" but that is the most common name for exactly what they've done. I know, Wikipedia isn't a "credible source", but just the fact that it's got a huge write up proves that it's a common name for them. I've also heard the name "patent shark" used before to describe them as well. @sees_all1 It is fine and dandy if you take out a patent and you intend on using that patented material. But these patent trolls often take out large numbers of patents that they intend to just sit on for years to come hoping that someone invents something with enough similarities that they can sue for profit. That's the difference between software developers and patent trolls. You actually intend to profit off of the system you are creating by building it, while the trolls simply want someone to come up with the idea then claim 'first rights' so they can pocket anymoney the developer made in publishing their software. What I would like to know is, by "winning" the lawsuit, does Jagex get anything? I seem to remember hearing that in the USA, if you file a suit and lose you have to pay the defendants legal fees ... is this true? Because when this takes 10% of Jagex's annual profits, it's a big deal.
  17. For Pink / Bio / Any other Dragoons here. [hide=PICS] [/hide]
  18. Usually with the parties I go with, I tell them; if there's a high level in a dead end that you would have to waste food / pray on, leave them. As far as I know, you only need 90% kill rate to get full exp so leaving the big ones in dead ends isn't that big of deal. But if they're some level 24 newbies, just kill them for the food / exp.
  19. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tYLj4VK6eDYMp9ZOJ-zbwyA&output=html There is a convenient GP/EXP column that is of great help.
  20. Runescape is a very popular MMO, but I wouldn't say it's the number 1 in terms of at-the-moment popularity. The thing about it is it's staying power. It's been here for nearly 10 years and it seems as though it's going to stay for at least 5 more (survive longer, but not at this level). As for the F2P aspect of this discussion, I'd say that it's pretty popular. It provides quite a bit of content and the community is pretty good. When I say comumity, I mean the real F2Pers and not the pures who say "gtfo i have a p2p main so idk if i insult you" (and trust me, the majority of the jerks in F2P are those with P2P accounts, which is why they don't care how they act on the newbs). Contrary to popular belief, from my personal experience, the F2P community is more mature and open to conversations then P2P. The entire P2P culture is based around skilling efficiency and grinding rather then fun and community. That's why I prefer F2P. It's a much more relaxed, laid back place to hang out. When I go cut oaks for a bit of cash in a relaxed way, I don't get people saying "It's more efficient to kill frost dragons for money". Many of the F2Pers I've talked too actually agree with me. F2P provides an atmosphere that can't be matched by P2P and to the best of my knowledge, any other of the 'top' MMO's. And that is where Runescapes allure comes from. A relaxed game with lots of things to do.
  21. I know what my answers would be. Most of them from personal experience with noobs thinking the opposite, but I don't understand the first one. What is the 'guard room'? I don't think I will apply though considering I'm too busy with school to bother with a 'full time team' but it's nice to see a group of players out there that value knowledge of dungeoneering rather then asking for CB and DG levels as the only prerequesite.
  22. You could try W61. The few times I've been there, there wasn't enough lvl 3's so I took some level ~50's. They helped more then most skillers who usually afk and as long as the average level is under 90, you still get full exp.
  23. Runewiki isn't that bad for most things though if I could, I would always use Tipit for my info because I know it's been confirmed. But some things RW has that Tipit doesn't like extensive 'guides' (more like tables) for things like alch/superheat profit, game ticks, etc. So it is very usefull to use, but can't be taken as fact until you can confirm it yourself.
  24. I just went there to check and can confirm that it is still there. When you hear 2 opposing 'facts' and one of them is from Runewiki, you should assume that the one from RSW is wrong. Not always, but since it's edited my anyone, it just takes 1 troublemaker to screw up some really good info. Someone could have changed it to trick prospective miners into thinking that those iron rocks aren't worth mining at, thus lowering competition.
