  1. What are you all doing in last minute preparation for the XP Weekend? Here's some questions: -- How much have you spent on supplies? -- Where do you plan on training? CW will be very full. -- How will you arrange your bank? -- Have you bought everything you need? -- Which day will you start training? -- How will you avoid crowds? Personally, I will be using War Torts instead of Kyatts. I imagine Kyatts to be very hard to find at CW. I'll also start my training period at an off time (maybe early morning) to avoid crowds. I'll also be rearranging my bank.
  2. I'm personally going with Tortoises... Kyatts will be harder to pick out in CW bank :s
  3. Took me 4 Months to make back all of this. Previous Bob was 500M+... in today's money, it probably would be near 700M-800M
  4. Name progression: liuzerozliu -> box of nubs -> turmoil mage -> The Ancient thanks :)
  5. sorry, this is really off topic - but since when has TIF become so flame-y? :s anyway, i really don't understand why people are so upset with the new hp system. the only difference is the extra decimal at the end...
  6. Uni's now heal 149 instead of 14 :) I like this. it's basically a 7% boost...
  7. Best TD run ever. -- Used 5 ppots and got 20 kills. Still had 5 ppots left. theoretically, could have done 40 kills in that trip.... gotta love my new nomad cape -- 2nd Claw drop after another ~400 dry streak Claws Drop 2 (~800 TD kills) SO glad I decided to not panic sell my BGS and use it to keep on doing TD's. time to buy up thousands of summoning seconds... Also, got my nomad cape :) also got really lucky with this... i had 10 hp, and he kept on missing me. i stalled until i got a uni heal... and won... took up 36 (4) brews. 2nd real try. i ran out of brews the first time.
  8. Youre better off collecting granite and going to waterfiends for extra crimsons. TBH the best source of charms is TD's. soooo many blues. and blues are basically twice as useful as crimsons for the xp weekend, since you get a lot more xp per trip. plus you can get 150-200 obsidian charms an hour, which saves you like 750-1M + 200K in obby drops.
  9. Merch cc's capital (refering to money here, not infrastructure) is only limited by the amount of players they can have.. which really isn't a limit at all.
  10. this would make sense given how closely this update fits with the new skill, which is supposed to be released midyear.I just don't want to believe it because that's another two months.... you're probably right. and that this update is the new skill... jagex wouldn't hype this unless it were really big
  11. i discovered a source jagex might have considered while designing this new island:
  12. You're thinking about cash per player than net cash in the economy. OT: The only major moneysink that Jagex has released recently is summoning. we're long overdue for another sink. Net cash in the economy? Net has no relevance there. And what you're thinking of is money supply. A higher money supply does not intrinsically necessitate higher price levels. We do NOT need another money sink. The economy is stable - no need to [bleep] it up. higher money supply is a factor in higher PLs. the relationship is complicated, but the two are pretty directly related. higher PL isn't intrinsically bad. but when you have certain items which have a fixed gp value (i.e. anything that can be bought in a store, or has a fixed gp value in game), purchasing power varies greatly. the economy is not stable. merch cc's reassure this. introducing a money sink is not inherently a bad thing. this should be obvious; for example, the fed both lowers and raises interest rates to increase and decrease money supply. decreasing it is good in times of excess inflation. sorry if i'm not an econ major - i' took an intro econ class years ago - but "net cash" is my layman's term for money supply. and i think it fulfills the purpose of what i'm trying to say. OT: I think to clarify the OP's terminology, he's referring to "inflation" and "deflation" (loosely used here) of the gp value of high level player accounts, in which case i agree that herb and pray were "money sinks", or more accurately a method of wealth distribution. how can you judge something like that? we have no standards for comparison. but in a very general sense, yes, jagex has redistributed wealth well. the major problem now is that overloads and turmoil are overpowered. summoning, imo, was better in that it didn't imbalance combat, had really useful properties, and was an actual cash sink and not just a cash redistributor.

  14. Thats royal epicness. Must be a vanity set without stats :) A form of treasure trail clothing.. but.. from hunting :D right wonder if p hats will be affected by crown at all
  15. Magic is not a secondary form of combat... I hate it when people say that. Magic is, like it or not, a secondary form of combat. That's just what happens when magic is vastly inferior to melee and range. Barring quests, I can't remember the last time I've ever used magical attacks without bringing a melee or range weapon along... then again, you mostly PvE and not PvP. if you clan warred or castle warred often, you would find plenty of capable mages. mage IS pretty powerful as long as you know when and how to tank. mage's main weakness isn't power, it's defense. magic is the most accurate form of combat; in terms of DPS against players i think it far outdamages even melee, assuming your opponent isn't in full karil/arma
  16. It's not just SOL that rebalanced mage. It's: +10%/+15% staff boosts cheaper runes (eventually) due to double runes from runecrafting mage pot / extreme mage damage boosts soul split
  17. +30% > - 10%... Anyway, I think ancient curses are actually quite good for mages. The standard mage prayer only affects accuracy, not damage... and i'm pretty sure -10% opponent defense and +5% your attack is better than 15% to your attack Plus soul split + barrage = yummy The only combat class that got ignored is range, since the damage from +15% is much more substantial than +5%/-10%
  18. Really curious about the new smithing updates... wonder if i should be stocking on coal?
  19. The only reason stopping everyone from using mage in PvP is that it's expensive. Magic is MUCH more powerful than ranged or melee, if properly used. It can hit 9 times as much as melee or range (chins are a joke). It freezes. It can double/triple stack damage. It's significantly more accurate, even against pro mage gear. Only when you get up to opponents with spectrals + full arma will mage compare to range/melee. It SHOULD be expensive. and very expensive. 75% rune return is laughable. Barrage at 500 gp? give me a break... mages would dominate if spells were that cheap. 75% rune return breaks parts of the game. Consider bursting lobs. 75% rune return would make it cost roughly 2K a crimson. if it's that cheap, there's no reason to do any other form of charm gathering other than barraging lobs. 50%, even, is almost too much... and is only balanced by the fact that you have to charge the robes. And that domination will end as soon as people start running around with karils x bow and a handcannon/darkbow. Meleers wouldn't run from every mage(there are no pure meleers out deep and freezes don't last forever). Magic isn't invencible... My point is that mage is more powerful than range, so it should be more expensive. Mage dominates melee, and can hold his own against a ranger, but not always vice versa. And people already use range. lol. A proper mage can outrange rangers, and typically the dhide you see in wildy has puny mage defense.

  22. Not very long, the recharging fee needs to be lowered further. Last time i had a full set, it lasted about half the time my barrows armor did. 50% rune return is pretty OP... charging it isnt a problem if you actually enjoy FoG
  23. See how much the street price is different from the GE price. If you're strapped for cash, DK's is a good way to consistently make, at the very least, 1M an hour given your stats. If you're okay with this, I would hold onto the helm and wait to see if you can get trash for it or if the price will rise.
