  1. Logitech g5 and plenty of other gaming / multifunction mice are incredibly incredibly useful. If you have AutoHotKey (AHK*), you can program a multifunction mouse to do practically anything. One of my friends can even type with only his mouse; his computer can recognize mousestrokes and convert them into keyboard inputs. * AHK is a free popular program for assigning hotkeys in your computer (there are also others, but I know AHK best; some very minimal/basic computer programming experience is helpful because you need to write some code. it's also possible to copy and paste codes from the internet if you don't want to write codes yourself.) Most gaming mice also have the function to change button assignments/meanings depending on which window you have in focus. For example, when I play RS the buttons are all assigned to F keys, but when I'm on chrome or firefox, they're assigned to pageup/pagedown/home/end etc Dual monitors are also very useful for general life. 22" monitors are around 150$ today and the gain in productivity makes it easily worth it. No more having to switch between windows constantly - I can easily open up 5 windows at once and still read them all comfortably. The only problem with using duals is that they tend to eat away at your graphics card (mine's failed because of frequent switching between dual and single monitor setups, but then again it's a cheap integrated one on a low end HP laptop so I shouldn't expect much out of it) Setting up duals on a desktop (rather than a laptop) is harder because desktops usually only have 1 VGA port, and to set up a second one might be expensive/time consuming. Laptops only have 1 VGA port, but they have a monitor attached to them already. A good multipurpose/gaming mouse can fetch for $40 nowadays. Considering low end mice are around $15, you're not paying too much more for a significant gain in productivity. And they feel great to use too!
  2. Hi all, just wanted to start a discussion on any special programs or computer configurations that help you play RS. Some examples: -- Mousekeys : Easy way to drop items in your inventory -- Programmable mouse keys: I have all of the F keys bound to my extra mouse buttons. So if I want to access my inventory, I just click my middle button, or if I want spells, I click my thumb button, etc. -- Always using the resizeable function of RS: Bigger field of view, 4 stat buttons are closer to the game display (on the left of the map instead of the right) -- Dual monitors: I can open up RS wiki, a quest guide, itunes, and RS all at the same time with my 22" monitor and laptop monitor. Nine buttons is better than two. [the middle button is actually 4 buttons depending on how you press it] With this baby, I can access all combat interfaces (with the exception of summoning) with one click. TD's and PvP have never been easier. The quickprayer and summoning buttons are closer to the center of your screen in resizable modes. You also have a bigger field of vision. Not to mention it's easier to open up another window with RS if RS is in resizeable mode! Done right, resizeable mode takes up less space than fixed on your computer monitor(hint: make the window smaller and scroll to the lower right) In terms of RS functionality, small resizeable (like what i have shown) is best, fixed is middle, and fullscreen is worst (interface is too far from center of screen). Fixed is only if you want to enjoy the graphics of RS, which are pretty terrible anyway. The best aspect of using a small resizeable window is that the center of your screen is very close to your inventory / spell / prayer interfaces. Less distance for your mouse to travel = faster reaction. dual monitors are better than your monitors. They're really easy to set up on laptops too! Just plug in your VGA cord to the laptop.
  3. jw if anyone knows if this update's going to be today
  4. After like 2 years of on and off WF's and then 2 weeks of TD's
  5. But you're seemingly wearing A blessed d'hide top and have a terrorbird out, unless that's someone else...? Terrorbird was just BoB... I don't consider Terrorbird as BoB to be welfare because tortoise is pretty useless. Guthix Blessed dhide top = 180K = welfare. it's the same thing as black dhide but just doesnt look terrible
  6. welfare gear = pro drops. what i welfared: -- black dhide instead of karil body -- monks instead of sharks -- bunyip instead of titan -- broads instead of diamond e
  7. The full penance armor is absolutely terrible. 3 ppoints per minute is so lousy. If you're using a protection prayer (drain rate of 3 ppoints per second), you end up saving almost 3 ppoints per minute wearing just a neitiznot helm. not to mention you lose barrows/RFD gloves. Plus the 1/60 rune return rate for the trident is also really horrible if you lose +10% magic.
  8. I don't really get slower kills. A lot of the time i get it under one shield. In fact, I'm using BGS and broads and have been killing them consistently faster than the person who was just next to me using void/AGS/hand cannon. It really, really, really just comes down to if you're good at switching prayers and weapons. The only thing you can't go cheap on is GS. GS is far better than whip or hally. The only bad thing about my welfaring is that I have to bank every 15 kills instead of 40, like you said. But I really don't mind cause I can't sit for 2 hours straight doing TD's -- I need rest. Plus banking takes only what, 2 minutes anyway
  9. Does increased AI = more likely that prime will get you if you're soloing rex? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWJJVxNLVig Also a long time no see sseli, been doing fine? That's a really good vid. thanks a lot for linking it bruno... TD's have been a absolute botch to me, and i need cash so i'll be dking instead He uses the spot I used to use. I think the only thing they changed was that it's possible to pull prime while you run between spots I've been good... playing rs instead of MW2 lool
  10. I've gotten 400 kills and one lump. i hate you :P and my first 3-4 trips i did nothing but experiment safespots. i think reading guides help, especially on tis board. they actually cover some of the more useful safespots imo the best one is the north one. there's quite a few tricks to it into luring the other two demons into not attacking you but you'll get those eventually.
  11. please tell me that setup is a joke (with your stats that is) i can afford to do it in full armadyl and whatever but that stuff does the trick and gets results. i don't really care and at the end of the day i can spend the money on something better because let's face it armadyl looks like someone attacked initiate with scissors ... I'm not talking about the gear, the setup you're 79 summoning using bunyip and terrorbird for pete's sake edit: and dhide > armadyl there I'm like 300 crims from using uni but I still use bunyip and terrorbird. Why? it gets the job done, and i'm lazy. I can still manage 15 kills per trip. And that's with monkfish. you may laugh at me but I'm spending less than 150K a trip... and when you have a huge dry streak like I am having right now, and not a lot of cash, I'm happy with my welfaring. what matters most at TD's is your ability to hybrid. a good hybrid in welfare gear is far, far better than a bad hybrid using the best food and gear.

  13. I tried soloing supreme yesterday. I think he's a lot harder... I used to be able to solo him without food but yesterday I killed 5 using 6 brews and a BoB of food...
  14. For people w/ low def who don't want to spend money on prayer potions, barrage/burst then sidestepping to use salamander isn't a terrible choice
  15. I use halberd and have done TD's next to people using godsword. In some cases I kill them at the same time as the other person. The best part of the hally is the spec; with it, it might even be equivalent to a GS. My max so far with the spec is 90+. Plus with only a 30% spec bar requirement, you can use it 2 times against one TD.
  16. Im a little bit confused as to what you meant by the diamond e hitting through the shield. You do realize that it is possible to hit through the shield with any weapon as long as he's not praying? The shield just reduces accuracy and damage; it doesn't nullify attacks.
  17. That won't work cause you need to be in continuous combat with the same enemy for the 10% to occur
  18. Just curious -- do level boosters allow you to meet the requirements for this?
  19. hah you're funny :) Anyway on topic, note that leech defense >> sap ranger / mage / melee Why? I believe it takes shorter for leech defense's full effect ( 10% --> 25% ) to kick in. Sap ranger / mage / melee reduce defense and another skill in an alternating fashion, but leech defense reduces defense only. Except that if you are using mage or range against them, their mage/range stat provides some defense as well. So while leech is better on a pure defense level basis, sap prayers drain both defensive sides of that class. Meaning, the real drain to defense is somewhere around 40% rather than 20% like it says, and the 25% drain of leech prayers are indeed less than this. I've read somewhere that for mage and range defense, it's 70% Defense level and 30% mage or range level. Plus leech defense has a lower drain rate so if you want you can also add leech range or leech mage.
  20. hah you're funny :) Anyway on topic, note that leech defense >> sap ranger / mage / melee Why? I believe it takes shorter for leech defense's full effect ( 10% --> 25% ) to kick in. 21. Uni's totally own clan wars, just saying.
  22. You do get extra boost just not as much as if the other player/monster has 99 att/str. Either way at waterfiends it's still a higher boost than piety. I think wf has 1 attack 1 strength, so turmoil is worse there.
  23. For pure mages: +5-10% mage/-10-20% defense/-10-20% mage is much better than +15% mage For pure rangers: yes, eagle eye is much better, because it affects damage For hybrids: even if you switch prayers perfectly, it still takes up APM (actions per minute, aka attention) that you could have used to heal or switch. healing will cause hit delay unlike item and pray switching but in the time between hits a hybrid can switch all their gear and prayer Not if you use uni's or titans. Plus you can repot with that tempo if you really wanted to And no, I have plenty of combat experience and it's nearly impossible to eat, switch top, bottom, weapon, protection prayer, offense prayer, and then attack enemy all in one tempo.
  24. For pure mages: +5-10% mage/-10-20% defense/-10-20% mage is much better than +15% mage For pure rangers: yes, eagle eye is much better, because it affects damage For hybrids (1v1), curses are better. You'll have time to have the curses reach their full effects - in this case, I think curses > 15% boosts. Yes, a good hybrid can switch between prayers, but even so, it takes up APM / tempo / attention that could be used for switching prot prays or attacks For hybrids (multi), curses are worse, cause you lack the 15% defense prayer / piety -- which is pretty important for tanking
