  1. I can't imagine using curses at barrows -- which do you use?
  2. Turmoil and Soul Split have been the main area of attention for the Ancient curses. However, not all of us have 95 prayer, and many consider the Curse prayerbook to be useless without Turmoil and Soul Split. However, I think it's worth taking another look at the Sap and Leech curses. The main drawback behind switching to the Curse prayerbook is the loss of 5% and 10% boost prayers; however, these are mainly meant for low-intensity combat such as slaying or training. In this area, the normal prayer book is much better than Curses. This is out of our discussion. The Sap and Leech curses are designed for intense combat situations, such as against bosses or in PvP, since the strength of these prayers relies on the power of the opponent. Therefore, we should really only compare the curses to normal prayers in these high intensity combat situations. Here's a summary of my comparison between the two prayerbooks: Ancient Curses (Sap and Leech only): -- Mainly for bosses; Sap and Leech aren't too good in melee PvP -- Can use prayers to counter all corners of the combat triangle simultaneously -- Are significantly better against bosses (?) -- Berserker works well with extreme potions -- Better for hybrids since you can cover more sides of the combat triangle -- Better for mages since your curse effects can affect multiple opponents at once -- Better for mages since 15% mage prayer only affects accuracy and not damage Normal Prayers: -- Comparatively lower drain rate for the same effect -- Better for rangers (eagle eye is better than any Curse for rangers) Do you use Sap/Leech? Why? And in what situations?
  3. Double post sorry :x But to unspam: don't use both sap range + sap warrior at the same time. It's kind of pointless since the defense-decreasing effect doesn't stack.
  4. Just by the way - I tested out vengeance and the curse prayers. Both are really quite good. With curse prayers, my attacks against TD's are much more accurate in the latter half of the fight. In my experience, it gives faster kills than switching between eagle eye and piety. Then again, I'm pretty bad at switching between those. So if you have trouble switching between offense prayers, or want a slower drain rate, use curse prayers. From best to worst: Turmoil (havent tested) Leech Defense Sap Range Sap Warrior
  5. I would argue that you're better off with a combat familiar here instead of a healing familiar. Even t hough titans more expensive, I think in this case Titan > Uni
  6. Also, does veng work well against TD's? If so, I think it's worth the cost and 3 invent spaces.
  7. I know this has been asked already, but how about using Drain Range? TD fights take long enough for the full curse effect to take place, so it's almost -20% defense and -10% range. This might reduce damage for you, but even more importantly it reduces TD defense by 20% - this is huge! I prefer it over eagle eye/piety because switching between them is a huge annoyance.
  8. "herblaw" <-- RS1 reference is even more pro :)
  9. Salarin is efficient mainly if you buy the keys yourself, which is pretty difficult. It works in theory but not necessarily in practice. Killing him will probably prove to be too slow.
  10. FoG gloves and Macaw can be used with chaos druids. Macaw can be switched out to a BoB after you fill your invent.
  11. I also want to point out that barrows is really convenient to get to compared to most monster hunting. Organizing an arma or bandos run can be a huge pain, and barrows doesn't suffer that issue. A small tip for getting KC: don't kill any monsters until you reach the puzzle door. You inevitably have to kill some monsters at the puzzle door anyway, so you might as well get some KC there and when you stop getting attacked solve the puzzle.
  12. Preface to mods: This post is a bit guide-y, so if you feel it necessary to move to AoW then be my guest. But I think this topic would gain much more if there's open discussion on it. Hey, haven't been on these forums in a while. Been busy with "real life" :P The most recent herblore update is a game-changer for high levels. It's changed herblore from a trivial skill to a must-have. However, herbs are extremely hard to obtain, and that's why herblore remains one of the most expensive skills to train. Because so many people need herbs now, herbs have become even more rare and expensive. If you need your own personal stock of herbs, or if you want to sell herbs for a profit, here are some tips for gathering herbs that I think the general RS community should be more aware of. Note that I haven't tested many of these methods; Ive simply researched them. 1) Manage thy Kingdom. Herbs are now the best option in MtK. I've run herbs for the past few days and I've gotten 250K on average, with 10 workers on herbs. This is a five-fold return (invest 50k, get 250k). Compare this to coal or flax or fishing, which is at best a three-fold return. You get somewhere around 60 herbs or so daily. There are no guams and I believe no marrs; the only low-leveled herbs are harralanders and tarromins. 2) Sorceress' Garden http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Sorceress's_Garden According to the RS wiki, this minigame can yield 2 herbs a minute. If you assume herbs are an average of 4K each, then you earn 8K a minute, or almost 500K an hour. This is on top of 75K thieving xp per hour as well. Plus getting there is very convenient, as long as you have the 2008 holiday event broomstick to teleport there. 3) Macaw The macaw is a low leveled herb-gathering familiar. Its scroll has the ability to generate random herbs. Also, it improves the chance of good herb drops. While killing herb droppers (such as aberrant spectres or chaos druids), this may be a good familiar to bring. The herbcall scroll has some time limitations and is best used while doing something else such as fishing or woodcutting. I have read that killing aberrant spectres for herbs yields nearly 700K per hour, in addition to some trivial combat xp and possibly slayer xp. 4) Farming Farming is even more profitable than before. I also find it one of the most enjoyable skills to train, albeit it's very slow. 5) Fist of Guthix gloves One of the most worthwhile FoG rewards are the herb gloves. These gloves change your herb drops to 50% of a certain herb! There are four herbs gloves to choose from - irit, avantoe, kwuarm, and cadantine. The gloves have different costs (75, 100, 200, and 200 tokens respectively), and have somewhat high herblore requirements to wield. They all degrade after 100 drops of the relevant herb (so 200 herb drops in total) The best gloves are the avantoe gloves. They cost 100 FoG tokens which is relatively reasonable to obtain, if you enjoy FoG. Avantoes are 5K+ each right now. It's best to use these with a frequent herb dropper like chaos druids. Other Herblore Tips: If you want to be able to make extremes, but are short on cash, don't forget that herblore is a boostable skill! Greenman's ale is a relatively easily obtained beer that boost your herblore by +1. May not sound like much, but at high levels 1 level can cost roughly 20M to train! Brown spicy stews can boost herblore by up to +6. Although, the boost from these items is random, and the +6 boost is rare. Furthemore, spicy stews are very annoying to make, so you want to make as few as possible. Therefore, if you want to use spicy stews train 4 or 5 levels below your target, and rely on only the +4 or +5 boost which is much more common. Also note that spicy stews can temporarily lower your stats as well, so it's advisable to have some method to restore stats. The best option is a leech familiar (~50 summoning required), whose scroll restores damaged stats. Let me remind you that at level 85+, 4 levels of herblore can cost you 80M or more. So while spicy stews are very annoying to make and use, they can save you lots of money. For more tips on using the spicy stew, refer to tip it's guide or http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Spicy_stew.
  13. drop party @ w103 within the next 10 minutes. featuring: lol, have fun. curious if my 730K deaths will crash that market for a while
  14. I am quite sure they did intend that; otherwise they wouldn't make the undegraded and degraded armors different alch values Also the armors seem much more reasonable (i.e. cheaper) to use...
  15. If you use the armor exclusively for clan wars or PKing, it's relatively easy to time those
  16. Hello, I havent played RS or been on TIF for like 6 months... I wont be back for long though lol When you alch degraded ancient warrior armor, you recieve 60% of their original value. I believe this is regardless of how much the item is degraded. Seeing how many ancient warrior armors are at their undegraded alch prices, this means that the true cost of using ancient warrior armor is really only 40% of their undegraded alch values. This means that to use full Zuriel armor (no staff) would cost around 120 + 120 + 60 K = 280K an hour, or roughly 4K - 5K a minute. I consider this to be pretty reasonable.
  17. With Snapes at 300 ea, this isn't very profitable. I'd estimate 200K an hour at most http://imageshack.us lol You used to get 1K snapes/hr WITH lunar tele. This method has like 20 sec bank time too
  18. With Snapes at 300 ea, this isn't very profitable. I'd estimate 200K an hour at most
  19. you say that there is a guaranteed dragon plate coming in after every three questers, what if it isnt smithed together? (i am correct in thinking that it needs all three bits to be smithed together right?) There are enough lvl 92 smithers. If they can make something like 50K per plate that's already a good deal for them.
  20. Might just be a coincidence. It'd be really ironic if Jagex staff were RWTing
  21. There's a new way to get waterfilled vials that yields 350-400K/hr in profit, and requires almost no skill requirements. You simply need to have finished the Easy Fremennik Easy diary. It involves using the new "Peer the Seer" banking option from the Fremennik Diary. There are also several other uses for peer the seer, including a way to train magic at 60k/hr and possibly yield profit(see below) [hide=How to do it]There is a merchant NPC that sells infinite stock waterfilled vials for ~10 gp. He is roughly 15-20 steps away from Peer the Seer, and walks around in the central Relleka marketplace. With proper technique, you can do a run in a bit over 20 seconds. This yields roughly 4500 vials/hr, and under today's prices that is 80 * 4.5K = 360K an hour. Keep in mind though this is a concentration-intensive process. To get to Peer the Seer, either lyre teleport or move your house to relleka. It is also helpful to have terrorbird scrolls to restore energy, or inf run pool. I don't advise using a BoB to deposit stuff, unless you have a war tortoise (have not tested this) or a yak. If you have a yak, why the hell would you even consider buying vials.[/hide] [hide=Training Magic]Since the Merchant also stores infinite regular vials, perhaps a good combination of magic training and money making would be to buy regular vials, humidfy them, and then bank them. Humidify, I have heard, is 60K xp/hr.[/hide] [hide=The merchant also stocks...]--Infinite pestle and mortar (profit margin 100 gp/ea, could be used to make trash) --Infinite regular vials --Infinite potatoes --Infinite cabbages :D There is also a "Fish Mongerer" that will sell infinite stocks of fishing supplies. The profit margins on each of these is around 50-70 gp.[/hide] [hide=Other uses of Peer the Seer...]-- Fishing: there's an empty lobby/swordfish spot about 30 steps away from Peer. There's also an empty shark spot but it's a bit far. -- You can buy Fremennik beers from the Cheiftain's Hall. This may yield a nice profit, haven't tested it yet. -- You can buy Fremennik clothes in a store very close to Peer. The profit margin is 200 gp per cloth; however, no one will buy them in the GE so this is merely a method of making trash. And it's not very good trash either since you have to pay 650 gp per cloth.[/hide]
  22. YOU SHOULD HAVE CLICKED IT! It might have been a typo for "BIG TIF CLANS!"
  23. Still, by the looks of it I think it'll be more common than dragon chain. That shouldn't happen. Also, prices are stabilizing (I think). I know of a couple cc's that are beginning to buy them up. Their drop rate was also nerfed.
  24. Bandits. They're really easy to do, you can do your homework or watch tv while you train there. Xp rate at level 98 is like... 40K/hr with bronze knives. Otherwise, aviansies.
