Why do people look down on skill capes?
I think hunter cape is actually one of the most popular capes. It might have less people who have it but if you do the math and calculate the fact that it has only been out for like 2(?) years it is the most gotten per year or w/e. Just a little fun fact!

The New Shields
I think what 3 hit u is saying is that since the combat system is so random relying on the shield is stupid. On average it will block 17% of damage but hits are not averaged.... You know what I mean??? So person A attacks person B and hits a 40. Person B is wearing the Elysian shield BUT it does not activate. On person A's next attack he hits a 4 and the shield does activate. It blocks 1 damage. So basically it blocked 1 out of 44 damage which isn't close to 17%. Get what I mean?? If the combat system was set up so you had a minimum and a maximum hit (with in like 2 damage so from like 22-26 damage no matter what) then yes, this shield would be indisputably better but because you can't control when it triggers it may end up doing nothing. I think that is what he is saying.

The Runescape economy (9/8/08)
The problem isn't the people who are buying out stocks. It is people who try to merchant by buying [cabbage] as soon as it goes up. They think they are going to make some quick money (and some probably do) so they just jack the price up even more. If people just stopped trying to get rich fast by merchanting and they actually bothered to do some work this wouldn't happen. ^^ know what I mean?

Call me insane...
I totally agree that they are taking steps with the shields but those shields are quite rare and pricey (although that will obviously change), have some decent requirements, and are unlikely to be risked in the wilderness. But ya, the shields are a step in the right direction.

Call me insane...
Also Jagex states on website that armor reduces chance of being hit, not the actual hit. So even if they release better armor is won't stop people from getting lucky (which is basically what the RS combat is about!!!) and one hitting people if they release better weapons and such without raising the hp cap. Or they could rework defense and make it more useful so it actually reduces max hit or something along those lines which in turn would make attack much more useful because you need to make sure you are hitting as often as possible.

The New Shields
Maybe I am stupid but doesn't +20 mage defense bonus hurt mages..... Arcane has +20 magic attack bonus, it's hard to tell, but maybe the OP should add the headings for the stat boosts or soemthing. Yes I did not notice that. Spectral spirit shield has a +30 magic defense though with *decent* melee defense and a prayer boost. I just think there is no reason to introduce more gear into the game that hurt mages. But I do compliment Jagex on the Arcane shield. That is a nice buff (although cancelled out by the spectral shield kind of).

The New Shields
I don't wanna come across as to negative because this seems like a really thought out and great update by Jagex but WTF!!! I think you have to be crazy to disagree with me when I say that mages ATM suck. How is adding a (admittedly pricey) shield that gives +30 magic defense helping at all. Obviously there are some high requirements but I think anybody who can afford this shield can probably (or already) get those requirements... So yes, great job by Jagex. Awesome new equipment but seriously, why does the shield need to crap all over mages so much?? Maybe I am stupid but doesn't +20 mage defense bonus hurt mages.....

Account Stolen/Darn Thieves
How did he steal your account? I have played RS for a long time and I've never had killer stats but nobody I knew IRL ever had their account stolen either unless they gave somebody the PW. It is a shame people go so low and hopefully you get your account back.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
Ok, his post was directed at you. Excuse me for generalizing it. Better? And before I here "Why aren't people allowed to wear their capes while fletching?" I will answer it. If you want to wear your cape and fletch their are GOBS of banks that are completely empty 99% of the time and it takes about 2 minutes to find one. Don't do your fletching at Falador east or Varrock West. I DIDN'T SAY YOU WERE A LIER. I SAID THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO LIE AND THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE I DISLIKE. OMG, come on. Stop just making [cabbage] up like "You think I'm a lier?". I didn't say that. Jeez.

Racism has gone to far
YOU CANT GET MORE RACIST THAN WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THAT PIC! So would you rather just let people talk like that, if so, you're an outrage. You didn't read what he said. He said they were trolling and only do it because they know people like you freak out and get offended. If they are reading this right now you are only making them laugh and make plans on when to do it again.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
Zierro I am sick of arguing with you. I don't even understand what you are talking about. All I said was their are two kinds of players who own skill capes. Their are the kind who pretend in the open to hate being bothered by people who ask them for emotes but secretly enjoy the attention and their are players who actually do hate it. The latter group is not who I dislike. I dislike the first group who lie about their dislike of the attention. I never said you were supposed to change your outfit. I said if you did not want to be bothered it is as simply as putting on another cape. Compare the low levels to bees (the things that go buzz). You decide one day to wear a shirt (skill cape) that is really bright and flowery. The shirt (skill cape) attracts bees (annoying people). You love the shirt but you hate the bees. You can either put up with the bees or change the shirt. Do you understand what I am saying? If you want to wear your hunter cape be prepared to put up with the crowds but don't go around whining about them. You know exactly what you are getting yourself into and you exactly how to prevent it. I don't think I have once typed the word "showoffs" or used it to describe people with capes. I don't have a problem with people showing off. I have a problem (going back to my first paragraph) with people who secretly crave the attention. Why don't you understand that.

Prayer is not easy....
Since you have 99 range/attack/strength/w.e why didn't you just bury those bones from all the monsters you killed?? I bet it would have been a lot easier then. Nothing in RS is easy unless you enjoy clicking for all those hours. But I would have to agree and say prayer is probably one of the more irritating skills to level up with the costs and such.

Racism has gone to far
It is a shame that this goes on but grow some skin. It is totally wrong and they should definitely be muted/banned for it but I don't know what people expect when they go somewhere where there is total anonymity and people can do whatever they want without consequence (getting your account banned isn't a big consequence).

Why do people look down on skill capes?
What so just because someone is proud of one of their achievements, and wearing a cape they earned means they are showing off? Should we all just walk around in Full Bronze and an Iron scim just so we aren't showing off any wealth? Anyway, back on topic.. I think it's a shame that people look down upon these capes so much, they are all pretty nice achievements. That isn't what he is saying. Let me tell a little story to explain it. Bob has 99 cooking. Bob decides to wear his skill cape into the middle of the GE on a crowded world. Bob knows full well that people are going to ask him to do the emote. Bob *says* he is annoyed by these people but secretly he is doing this on purpose because he enjoys attention. Bob trash talks these people but inside he is bursting with pride. That is who he is talking about. Heres another story. Bill has 99 cooking. Bill decides to wear his skill cape to fight caves because it gives good bonuses. Bill hopes nobody asks him to do the emote because he hates it. Bill *IS* annoyed by these people and trash talks them. Understand the difference? I think Llama monkey is talking about Bob, player 1.

15 Aug 2008 - Future PvP Updates
I hope Jagex really does a good job on this for their sake! I hope they just think it through and make sure bugs/balance issues are fixed. And lets hope we don't get a Karil set again for range!!

why do you think RS is in the state it is in
WC3 is even cheaper than RS though!! And once SCII comes out GL competing with those graphics (not to mention the insane gameplay of WC3 and SCII) I think RS from Jagex's point of view is doing well. I think from a new players point of view it is doing well. I think from a older (but still relatively new) player's point of view it could be better but is fine. I think from a really old players point of view it is going down the gutter. I'd say that is the majority with some people in each group thinking something else.

Bounty Hunter - Huge Mistake On Behalf Of Jagex?
RWT WAS COSTING JAGEX MONEY. THEY TOOK ACTION TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T COST THEM MONEY ANYMORE; IF RWT IS STILL HAPPENING JAGEX REALLY DOESN'T CARE AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T COST THEM. JAGEX IS A BUSINESS. tl;dr Seriously though that was way too long but I agree and disagree anyway. While Jagex got the fix they were looking for the bottom line is it didn't stop RWT.

The Yellow Un-Repellable Orb Project...
A concept such as even teams is something that should've in the first concept stage. Every other team-based mini-game has forced equal numbers on teams. Yes, for sure. I haven't played it cause I'm a little short of requirements..... but anyway, the orb attract/repel stuff you are talking about is explainable, first day, bound to be balance issues. Now wether Jagex fixed them or not is yet to be seen but regardless, teams should be balanced. And clan wars is different. You don't compete for anything and you pick who you play.

Bounty Hunter - Huge Mistake On Behalf Of Jagex?
Bounty Hunter in F2P is less dangerous than the Stronghold of Security. If you have full rune and food, you are basically invinsible, you can leave when you are nearly dead easily... Prayer too!!! Ya, all you do is transfer using TT items or easter eggs. It really isn't hard at all.

Bounty Hunter - Huge Mistake On Behalf Of Jagex?
Bots and autoers have definitely decreased since the updates but yes, RWT is still very possible. I know people who have used BH to do it and not been banned (Not RWT but drop trading and such). =/ It is a little disappointing that the changes didn't get rid of it totally but what are you going to do?

What are your opinions on no-lifing?
I think unless you are like one level away from 91 rc or 85 mining or something 3 hours is as much as you should spend. RS isn't just bad for your eyes and health, the amount of clicking you do is terrible even if you have good posture and such while playing/typing. People who play 10 hours regularly should really think about cutting back on that. I mean, it may be *semi* jealousy but can you honestly say you respect people who manage to get those amazingly high skills in like two weeks. I think it is a little sad.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
O.O I forgot you had to collect charms.... I just meant it was cooking 2.0 because (once you have the charms) it is basically the same thing except more cash needed and more time walking.
-
Why do people look down on skill capes?
Cheefo lol, summoning cape is just cooking cape 2.0.

Why do people look down on skill capes?
That is actually pretty true for some skills like woodcutting and mining I suppose. But I bet for the most part most 99 cookers never cook again unless they are going for 15m exp or something like that.
