  1. Yeah, and so was this one. I guess you're the one who wants to make this thread about me. I don't appreciate the personal attacks, especially when I work very hard to avoid making any myself. The topic here is not me. It is the simple fact that this is no more of an accomplishment than being a couch potato. If it really were some great achievement, you could explain what that is, instead of attacking me. I think it's pretty obvious that the mere fact that this player made it to the Guinness book is "the" achievement itself that some poster seem to view so highly. To me it is not an achievement worth praising because it's a passive one. Watching TV 9 hours a day for 5 years on the couch is the same "achievement", it's a passive one and not worth my praise. It's also funny how everyone that "tries" to argue with Qeltar never replies to his question about how it is any different from a couch potato...
  2. Then you obviously have no idea what kind of jobs there are in the world and how there are many laid back bosses. If you're doing what your job specification requires, then that's all there is to it. What you do while doing that job (If reasonable) generally is okay. Laid back to me does not mean letting your employees waste time playing an online game for 9 hours a day. I'd get disciplined at work for even logging onto facebook, which I think is fair. Honestly if you have time to play a game when you're at work then you should look at getting a more challenging and perhaps a better paying job. Well there's no point in me continuing what I'm trying to say as it's quite obvious not one of you seem to be actually getting the point but rather nit-picking. No one understands AVERAGES either, which I tried to stress earlier. It is precisely that average that makes some of us criticise that "record". Averaging 9 hours of play in the span of 2-3 months is not that bad... it's when you have that kinda huge average over a long period of time that gets unhealthy. Just think about spring break... lots of drinkage over the span of a week then it's back to reality and a more healthy behavior. If you "average" that behavior over the span of 5 years, you get tagged an alcoholic. Once again, our "perfect" community will scare away one of its best posters, Qeltar.
  3. Likely not, however.. It doesn't make any difference what it is; Building the biggest Lego city, the longest time eating only peanut butter sandwiches, ect.. You cannot deny that no matter what it is, doing the same activity for 700 hours requires commitment. This thread isn't here to worship the person who completed it, nor do I think they feel ashamed for doing what they have done. If she got the goal and wasn't going for the record, perhaps she simply likes the game. We don't even know what aspect of the game she mostly does. You can flame, troll, and post what criticism you want, however its not right to judge what another person deems fun. At the end of the day, there is no difference in you hanging out at the mall with your friends and her playing online with her friends. The only difference is what you perceive to be fun. I think cherry coke tastes like [cabbage], but does that make it [cabbage], and should someone be ashamed for drinking it 700 days straight? No. Great posts Qeltar and Brianite. I agree that it's an achievement tainted by addiction. She deserves both title and criticism.
  4. Zezima's not on top now.... only difference worth noting.
  5. Herblore is an expensive skill for everybody, pricey items are not so much the result of manipulators as the result of higher demand. Wait till the hype dies down and the prices fall somewhat. You are the victim of the bandwagon, there are plenty other players in your situation. If you don't have the cash for your dreams, it's your problem. To eliminate your problem, MAKE MORE CASH. If you think prices will never lower, just look at some seeds lately, since the new prayer update, lots of players moved from herblore to bones. Herbs might not have fallen yet, but there were a couple seeds that got a downward pull. Rest assured that the next high lvl update will shift the market some more.
  6. Nice story and all skills 80+ is very impressive, shows comprehension of most of the game.
  7. Dragon bones are the way to train prayer in P2P... I don't know where you get the "better training methods" without having D bones... Right now, especially with the new prayers, they are a must for members.
  8. Order and Justice are often the philosophy of dictators... Or in other words, good guy gone bad.
  9. I have a feeling this slayer master could be a future random event and would be linked to the long awaited randomly generated scenarios. Just imagine, she pops up on 5 different slayer locations and teleports 5 slayers to a location to kill a monster (safe random event) and offers a slayer related reward to the surviving players. Just trying to think outside the box.
  10. Are there both iron and steel dragons at the new spot? If so, I might ask my slayer master to stop blocking them!
  11. Ah, words of a person who has never been F2P after members. Just because you think it is crazy doesn't mean no one would do it. I don't quite understand how air running works but I am pretty sure it would make running easier because then you could more easily find a person with 99 runecrafting. There a multiple reasons why they would log onto a F2P server, I personally go F2P clan wars a lot, or even skill in F2P. You can not say that it isn't a benefit for many players just because it isn't a benefit to you, because you do not know that many players don't change their default clothes often. Yes i'm indeed a player that has the chance to have never logged in F2P since I became a member. I think it's crazy because when I pay for something, I want maximun result. It's like paying to get your cash washed but not going to the carwash and doing it yourself at home... a waste of "investment"... lol Skilling in F2P is gettting crappy rates (compared to members) while hanging out with friends, I have no F2P friends and when I do, I tell them to get P2P or get off my friendslist (but in a friendlier way). I'm just saying the benefits that was mentionned do not justify F2P getting skillcapes. So far the arguments seen in this thread that are justified are these: - A 99 is worth the same in F2P and P2P and should be rewarded the same way - A 99 in F2P is "more" of an achievement and thus should be rewarded - Members pay for added benefits and this is one of them - Jagex are not likely to add incentives for players to stick around in F2P getting them minimal revenues I'm still waiting for better arguments on both sides, but I think both sides have reached their limit and the only persons who can close this debate are Jagex' strategic business staff.
  12. I would suggest you use gold for terrorbirds, greens for ibis up to fruit bats and keep the crimsons for 74 summoning for granite lobsters. These are cheap pouches (reasonably priced 2nd ingredient) for somewhat nice xp. EDIT: for maximum XP, I suggest you look at the tip.it chart.
  13. I call people bots all the time to see if they answer back. I met quite a lot of bots woodcutting ivies. You shouldn't be mad because of what she said, but we can't ignore the fact that macroers were and are always a disease in RS.
  14. extreme sets for me as I slay a lot.
  15. Logged in, "ran" around varrock and falador, gained a thieving lvl, logged out, probably for good.
  16. rocktails in wolrd 84 or 2 would be a nice alternative. Otherwise, don't bother going alone, your def and HP will not save you. Grats on sticking to your goal!
  17. Can you explain how they have contributed? and I mean contributing in a way that they "deserve" a reward? This would really be the first time I hear of a freeloader contributing though...
  18. Very nice achievement and impressive loot! What's next?
  19. @Alex Rose Playing a game for an extended period of time is not the same thing as "supporting Jagex". F2Pers already have the highscore and quick chat to show off their achievements. I also think they should get what they deserve, which is what they actually have right now: a great free and complete game.
  20. Skillers with 1000 total levels, players who actually train their skills - all their skills. Crippled accounts are a choice. Lvl 3 skillers are not "skillers", they are powernoobs. Who are you to judge someone's playing style? And players with 1000 total aren't necesarilly "skillers". As I had already mentioned, it is possible to have 1K total without even having all skills at 42. Well, powernoob was the designation for lvl 3 skillers a couple years ago. It kinda got lost in time but I think it was more suited to lvl 3 skillers than plainly calling themselves skillers, as a skiller is someone who trains all skills (IMO). It was not an insult to be called a powernoob, it was mostly a wink to players calling low levels noob while that "noob" has more experience and knows more about the game. Training skills without the best skilling methods is by definition a choice to "cripple" yourself. There was no jugdement involved in my reply as far as I can tell.
  21. Killing either blue or green dragons will take care of prayer and crafting and giving you the odd herb to get at least one level (meleeing greens and ranging blue dragons). thieving master farmers for seeds will raise farming and herblore. Cutting mahoganys with special care to the odd special grain pattern to raise both WC and construction. Slayer to take care of summon.
  22. i would trust qeltar over anyone else on these boards.
  23. Most cheap way to 99 herblore is actually a profitable way, involves making weapon poison ++. Making on average 3-4K per potions and 190 xp. Have fun, it's not the fastest way though.
  24. Are you sure it's Jagex and not a "bad" friend?
  25. Jagex had a good reason for not giving f2p skillcapes, so they would make money. Also they want to discourage a massive amount of grinding(much more then p2p). The skill capes incentive doesn't generate masses amount of revenue. The incentives are, new skills, new training methods, an far more expansive world, new armor, and new weapons, that's why more than half of the people that bought membership before the capes, got it in the first place. They would make money with or without the capes. They made money before the release, and they would if they got rid of them now. Jagex doesn't care how much time you spend playing the game, just as long as you don't die and they lose their $5-7, or whatever the price is. They want you to play, and they want you to pay. Jagex is a corporation, not a charity who is in the business of healthy gaming. Great analysis, though you seem to not take into account what was said by some posters. The point being made by poster such as Jr and I is that giving high end rewards in F2P encourages F2Pers to stick to the free game rather than encouraging them to get membership. Skill capes are not and will never be the biggest incentive to get membership but it is one and all incentives add up. However, a far larger incentive would be for the easier training (Look at Prayer in F2P) and more skills to max (15 < 24). Even if you max all the free ones you still have to pay for the other 10 (counting Quest too). And chances are the players that make it that far and still won't pay are the ones that wouldn't have anyway. Exactly! Why should Jagex reward those players that never intend to support the game properly?
