March 17, 200719 yr Personally I only saw the point of firemaking when it was a completely useless skill. Way back in Rs1 all you could light were normal logs so the skill was basically unbuyable. The players who trained it, only did it for fun or to be different which IMHo made it more cool. :twisted: Now its pretty much buyable which destroys the coolness factor AND it is still useless. However if someone levels it because he enjoys firemaking, then more power to him. What's lame is buying a ton of expensive logs just to easily get a skill cape. Firemaking being a cheaper/faster skill to get to 99 might make it the first choice for those wanting those stats.
March 17, 200719 yr One of the reasons why 99 firemaking is becoming more popular is because a lot of people already have 99 cooking/fletching. I like the look of the cape and I still think it deserves respect. Though the main irritant is that on RS there are so many people going for this goal now. Hunting = Chinchompa power! :thumbsup: Agility = Shortcuts, and trust me, these save a lot of time when you get slayer tasks in Taverly dungeon or wherever. Thieving = Decent enough money at thieving heros, or so I hear. Firemaking = Well, yeah. Pointless.

March 17, 200719 yr Speaking as the first 99 Firemaker who has posted (to my knowledge) I got 99 Firemaking before the capes.. How many people have 99 Firemaking, not many, it's a unqiue 99. You may say it's a "waste of time" but how is it. You get a 99 skill out of it. And you can go shade burning if you really want to make a profit out of it. It's purely a skiller skill in my opinion. It's people like you who need to start having respect for other people stats. It took me a long time to get 99 Firemaking, and by gosh it was worth every single second.

March 17, 200719 yr 99 firemaking does deserve respect i may be a pointless skill but it isnt easy to get it takes work and effort and to me firemakers got my respect(exspecially how boring the skill is)

March 17, 200719 yr well im currently going for 99 fm myself, i guess i did it the uncool way kuz i just bought like 30k yews and burn some every now and then. i see no point in cutting my own kuz i already got 99woodcutting. and getting 30k didn't really cost alot, but w\e. The skill i think is pretty pointless, i probaly wouldn't even be doing it if i wasn't a skiller, so logically i thought i might as well get it done the fastest way possible. i dont really find it all that respectable of a skill so i doubt i would wear the cape, but its not like i wear any of my capes (Quest to).
March 17, 200719 yr Having an interesting cape doesn't justify FM in the least for me. For starters, it's utterly useless; besides for usage in two or three quests, and pyre burning, the skill has virtually no use. Secondly, it's soul-crushingly boring. I play this game to have fun and enjoy myself, not to mindlessly click away hours and hours of my life to get a pixellated cape that no one else really cares about. As a small last point, it consumes money without any payback of any sort. I respect that people enjoy it, though, and understand that I don't enjoy the same things everyone else does. March 17, 200719 yr 99 firemaking was my first 99 skill and just the feeling of getting first 99 was good enought reason to waste hours of my life :| . Also if jagex releases some major firemaking updates ( still waiting :-w ) then we'll probaly get somekind of profit.
