Does anyone actually care about 99 firemaking?

Featured Replies

It atleast shows that you are willing to spend money on something for a higher skill total. Compare this to getting 99 Hunter...fast, easy, cheap levels with no use at all above like 71.

dont say that! im going for 99 fm atm

but the skill does need a touchup since its single use is only to make fires for cooking

and considering that several ranges are within sight of a bank and that you have less a chance of burning food on a range then a fire...

[omg] who cares if its nerfed or fixed....

you people will argue over the color of a green apple if it was a topic on this fourm god.

i do buying the logs is only the first step...i remember cutting about 10k willows that i was gonna use to get 78 firemaking ended up getting 73 and giving the rest to my friend for fletching.....

firemaking is respectable as is any 99 imo cooking is buyable and a ton of people care about that.....just cause alot of poeple have it doesn't mean that it is an easy skill!!! but it does have a good exp/hr rate.

I think it deserves respect. They took the time to get a 99, didn't they?

+1.

Besides, it's not just for making fires to cook with. What about the lanterns, shade burning, balloon rides (Really useful) and other stuff?

Besides, it still hasn't had it's proper update yet really.

Yes, and it SHOULD be respected because first, the cape is hawt <3: (gotta admit that), and people have spent hours and hours leveling that skill  . Just ask yourself this, would you want to be respected if you went for it?

Retired as of August 23rd with 91 Firemaking and 6m xp in it.

the cape is hawt <3:

Surely the fact that it's a "boring skill" makes it even more respectable? as most peopel dotn put the commitment into earning it.

it's a skill that offers 100% loss, so even though it can be bought, it's not as easy as fletching or cooking for example.

I personaly love the fire cape and plan to have one in a few months.

Personally i dont think it deserves respect - I think its a pointless skill. What are your views?

Fors:

-Takes alot of time

-Nice cape

Against:

-boring skill

-poinless skill

-cost money

-kills your mouse

As a non-member I don't even get a cape.

I enjoy the skill, I find it relaxing. Honestly don't care whether it is respected or not, I cut all the logs myself (It cost me no money what so ever) and feel like it is a great accomplishment.

Hey, I may have quite Runescape, but I just bought an XBOX 360 and play way to much COD4 with the Gamertag Lava Mage

I think it all comes down to how you look at the game as a whole.

Perhaps it is just a pixelated image on the back of a pixelated person. But ots a medal of achievement. If thats pointless then perhaps standing around killing 1,000 dust devils is pointless.. or fletching yews or cooking sharks or ANYTHING!

As a level 99 firemaker, I thought I'd make a reply.

On RuneScape Classic, there is only one type of log, and you stop failing at around level 45. After that, it's pretty pointless. In RS2, it's useful to have 80+, if you like shade burning.

I got most of my firemaking exp on RSC Classic; even though it was a "useless" skill, I pushed it 99 anyways because I wanted a higher total exp and skill total.

Lets try not to be rude, ok? He probably just lagged and clicked too many times.

I could say the same exact thing about any and all of the skills you or anyone else trains...but that wouldn't be fair, now would it.

You're entitled to your opinion, yes...but lets try not to be one sided, here. People often ask me why I train Herblore and Slayer even though I can make every potion and can slay abyssal demons. My response is always the same: Because I want to.

The best players in Runescape don't train their skills until they reach the max item/monster/whatever that skill can obtain for them...they train because they love training, and also, in the longrun, to get 99s.

It's been pointless since classic and i'll never see it having a major use. It's just a overal raiser imo.

Quit RuneScape :)

firemaking sucks and just costs time its not worth for the emote :/

I think runescape is "pointless" but then again isn't life also "pointless" ... if its fun why not do it?

Meh, it raises total for me and I normally don't see many people with that cape since most think it's pointless. I need my total up and it helps and what else am I to do with the yews I cut since I'm too lazy to fletch and not much profit from selling to even bother. Fire-making is pretty fun and when I get that cape, it'll seem like it's one of a kind xD

ON BREAK

This is a waste of a topic. It's a skill. You don't like it? Too bad. Everything on Runescape is pointless. You play it for fun. Good luck navigating a dark dungeon without a lamp that you can't light. It's a skill. If you don't like it don't spam these boards saying that it is pointless. This post is pointless.

devotedconstructionkt0.jpg

FM can be a profitable skill if you know how to do it. SHade buring can give you good alching stuff and clues which lead to great stuff sometimes...but this takes a lot of work. Otherwise, i think any 99 is good enough to earn...if you're willing to spend on something that 99 fm gives you, why not?

Not a pointless skill. It's alot of fun. You just need to have it as one of your favorite skills to see the point in it.

Theres a few skills that are pointless.... hunting, agility, thieiving, and firemaking. But theye mostly for skill total.

agility? heck no! agility is worth it to get 99 as your energy restores a LOT faster at 99 (about 1% every 2 seconds) all the others i can sorta see your point but not agility
