So, now that I'm actually starting to make mil and such, I've been wanting to look cool. I don't get lucky from randoms (never got a mime, 3 years of playing, still have legs to go in camo, zombie chest/boots only, and frog price is bad =/), so I figured I'd just wear a black cav to go along with my black clothes for the time being.

 

 

 

Then again, I could get a whip. So, I ask you this: Is it better to be powerful on RS and own in CW and such, or is it better to be cool and hang out with friends and make FU signs with cabbages?

 

 

 

Really think about this though. Power can give you popularity and friends, but coolness can give you laugh attacks.

I like being cool and hanging out with friends, it beats working on skills all the time. However I don't think me or any of my friends ever made FU signs with cabbages...

cool is temporary, power is not (unless you mong it up).

 

 

 

Remember the 80's/90's, think what was cool then and ask yourself if its still cool, whereas the stock brokers who made loads of money(and by extension accumulated power) during the same period still have that money and by extension power, if not more.

 

 

 

I'm using a very stiff definition of power that i nabbed from a business studies lesson i had-Maslow, money=motivation. Motivation being the way of making someone do something that you desire, i.e:use of power.

Simply do what you enjoy the most - and that is something which may change with time, or your current mood. It is also something that varies a *lot* between different players.

 

 

 

but at the end... You do play games for fun, right :)

I find if you are powerful then everyone thinks you are cool anyways :P

Trying to be 'cool' is absolutely un-cool. Being cool and powerful are things you achieve without trying to be them.

 

 

 

If you try to be cool you come across as stupid and childish, if you try to be powerful you come across as stuck-up and patronising

 

 

 

If you try to be YOURSELF and just play the game as you feel fit, while being sociable and helpful you come across as a decent person and can still become 'cool' or 'powerful' in the eyes of others.

Why not get 99 mage and mage melee with some ahrim by using ice barrage? Then you're cruel or "cool" and powerful.

well i wouldnt give up my friends on rs for anything, but i guess it all depends on what you mean by powerful :-k

Dont go for Cool or Powerfull looks, make a unique one that people recognise.

If you buy a whip you could do several things with him:

So in conclusion: having Power=beeing Cool

 

 

 

If you own them all no matter how bad are you dressed you will eb cool. Killing is good. Skilling is good. But making FU signs out of cabbages in some "fancy" clothing doesn't make you cool.

This is exactly the kind of 'i own u n00b' mentality that makes for a less enjoyable community. If everyone only played to be more 'cool' or powerful than everyone else RS will become/is becoming a very negative place.

Dont try to look either go for your own unique look that you like, and along with that people may come to respect for your not having the same idea as everyone else.

i think being powerful IS cool, a person in full barrows or dragon certainly looks kool to me...so go 4 powerful imo.

looking flashy is useless, take practicality over looks.

 

you'll probably notice that you can combine them, fire cape, rune (g) etc.

 

and proper combat outfits usually look beter anyway. :-k

I could potentially have full rune with a dragon axe, going around Rampaging at all who annoy me...but I don't Zammy robes and a gadderhammer look better and I go for that. :D
