Slayer... Is it bringing back a *similair* RSC?

Featured Replies

Well I recently sold my barrows/dk gear to try and ATTEMPT and get 65 slayer (going quite well actually). And I discovered something. Playing a few weeks of RSC I realised that slayer is pretty much like combat training.

See, in RSC when you killed a monster you got the exp at the end of the kill. Not DURING the actual killing, unlike RS2. When in multi whoever dealt the most damage got all the experienced. Leaving the other players a bit mad.

Now, in the Slayer skill, you kill a monster and you get a number of exp (based on the monsters hit points, or something similair to it) then you move on to the next. Except, in slayer it's only one skill. In [RSC] it's every skill. Atk, Str, Defence, etc, etc...

Is JaGeX trying to lead people back to the good ol' memories of RSC or is it just a coincidence? :-s

Just thought I'd post this and get everyones opinion. :)

Mmm... Mudkipz...

Concidence.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

If you're asking if it is similar to rsc in that you get exp at the end of the kill, then the answer is yes. But in that case you've answered your own question.

If you're asking if jagex made slayer in order to get the "feel" of rsc, then no. Slayer was an attempt (that worked mind you) to get players to train in less used monster spots.

im confused as to where this place you call "multi" is in rsc.

There was no Multi in RSC. Multi came with the RS2 Beta...

yes you did. but it 100% false. their wasnt multi but you could still let 1 of your friends or some 1 else step in to take a monster from you by running in rsc. this would result in, whoever got the most hits on the monster would get the exp.

ranging took so long to level in rs1 due to the fact some silly meleer always came along and stole your kill... grrrr

Sig.jpg

Well actually the reason ranged was hard to train is because once engaged in combat you could only mage and melee no range (if the opponent could reach you)

And "multi" was EVERYWHERE.... If you ranged/maged a monster that some meleer is killing you still damage it

But also you could be meleeing one monster and maging another (there wasnt any "interruptions" since you could only eat and drink if not engaged in combat

im easyily frustrated. i think i came to rs2 with like 15 range lol.

Interesting though Blacky...

I go with Kill Thomas's idea, that it came out so that people would kill monsters that they usually wouldn't. Personally, I don't care, I'm just grateful. I LOVE SLAYER. <3:

XP after the kill doesn't bring back the feeling of RSC too much, but there's something else I've noticed about slayer that reminds me of RSC: most people who train slayer are nice people. Not all of them, but I've met quite a few who are nice to me. I remember that there seemed to be more nice people in RSC, but slayers seem to be nice too.

RSC: I was killing the man by the Duke of Lumbridge, armor consisting of a pitiful iron shield and no body armor. Someone asked me "What are the stats of your shield?" I told him, and he traded me, giving me an anti-dragonfire shield, which had better stats than mine. Afterwards, he said something like "That's better".

Slayer: I was ranging bloodvelds, buried a bone, and Leo came. I thought I'd lost some arrows, but as soon as I got back, I got a trade offer. Someone put up about 50 arrows and accepted. I said "Thanks," and the person said "You're welcome. I saw the arrows there and thought I'd wait for you to come back."

That's how slayer reminds me of RSC. And sorry for being overly verbose.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

No they aren't, and its not even a coincidence, almost every mmo in the world gives xp after you finish off your opponent, this is no way related to rsc.

Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

Wow that was far fetched..

2480+ total

That is kinda far fetched idea really.

That is 1 similarity

The points that make it un-true:

Slayer requires you to ask for a task, RSC combat does not

Slayer has slayer monsters which require special equipment etc to kill, RSC combat does not

Slayer is 1 skill, RSC combat is not

Slayer is a combat based skill, RSC combat is combat skills

Funny, I never noticed this little 'coincidence' at all. Thanks for pointing it out.

Exactly, i find that people training slayer are much nicer in general than the rest of the rs population. Only in the higher level areas though. I'd have to put it down the fact that slayer is a hard skill to train, it requires a decent amount of patience and persistance, something i would say not common in most people, especially get levels of 75+. People who work hard to acheive their goals tend to be nicer people, in my experiences at least.

umm :-k ...i think slayer xp goes like this because otherwise you can have the same slayer task and not stop it for example when you see you are close to kill a monster you jsut stop and forget about the monster but still get your xp so i dont think its related to rsc in any way just a way to make people train slayer as it is supposed to be trained

I see RuneScape slowly turning into a sadistic version of WoW.
