As some of you know,one of the medium tasks in Karamja diary is "Exchanging gems for a machete".

 

Inorder to do that u need to get 3 of the same gem(opal/jade/topaz) and

 

goutweed tuber (random event during the thi bwo mini game)

 

It appears that this tubers are given some people hard time (much like the lumby top)

 

reports of 4-8 frustrating hours of raw hacking without getting the darn goutweed.

I used to play that game a lot and got a lot of those tubers. Once I got my ruby machete, I had no use for them, so I dropped some and finally stopped digging them up. I still have two in my bank at the moment -- guess I'll use one to get another machete.

No, they don't respawn in his shop. Which means you can only buy them there if a player has sold one to him. Which I doubt anyone will do.

They were trading for 300K last week, now down to 200K.

 

 

 

They only turn up at the bottom of a patch, so don't walk away without chopping all the way down.

 

 

 

Wearing 1-2 items of villager clothing *may* improve chances, but no proof of that.

 

 

 

Being at 100% favour and not collecting sticks *may* improve chances, but no proof of that either.

 

 

 

I've collected 3 in the last two days, but met one guy who was getting one an hour!! Dunno what he was doing right, but I think he was wearing full villager.

 

 

 

Persistence. One guy spent 12 hours for a couple of days to get his. I spent 7 hours on my first one (only spent 2 hours after I bought 2 clothing items) but only 2 hours on second and 2 hours on third.

I got pretty lucky on both. I was trying to get the Lumberjack Top on the first day it came out, when you couldn't get the boots due to the bug, so I got it within 2 or 3 hours. Then, with the Goutweed, I got 2 within half an hour, so I gave one to someone there that needed it.

With it being a random like the threats and the gems I thought they would just appear whenever so I was only ever half cutting everything >_<

I was lucky enough to pick one up off the ground that someone had dropped. Oops for him/her.

As for temple trekking I mush have run about 40-50 Trekk's and I have the boots and legs, I don't think that's to bad at all

Gouts weren't really so rare for me... Normally on a dense patch, about one on seven to ten gave gouts or gems up.

Friend gave me one for free. I have had got one before in that mini game within an hour or so though.

wow i just got one in the first jungle bush i cut down :D

I got 100% favour from pure chopping which took like 2 hours. I didn't get any...when I got to the exchange for machete thing I went there to try. No luck after 20 mins?! I know...impatient.

 

I bought one for 200k which saved me tons of boredom and made back that 200k later way more easily.
